Shivsprocket's Shiv (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=22379) is a nice initial accompaniment to this offhand which is reasonably easy to obtain if your guild can manage the first bosses in Zul'Gurub and Ahn'Qiraj.

This now costs 7000 honor points at 25 AV marks in patch 2.0.1 with the new honor system. Easilly the best affliction warlock offhand.

Ninjawu claims that 14 shadow spec makes this offhand better then the 11 stam 17 int of a HWL offhand. he is mistaken. however that costs 45,000honor rather then 7k.

now with cata, there isnt much point getting this, Tome of the ice lord has the same cost with 6 more stam.

It is an Alterac Valley reward available at Revered status and costs 50G.

And also, does anyone have a picture of this Tome? I have about 7000 more reputation to go before I'm Exalted and I'd love to see what it looks like. It's easily one of the best items for a SM/Ruin Warlock out there at the moment, and quite easy to get.

With this offhand and Lok'amir Il romathis i got 118+ shadow dmg and then i also have 30+spelldmg on Lok thats 148+Shadowdmg:D

... are a quite easy way to get high +dmg when used with the right mainhand without going MC and that like. Though, as a mage or destrolock or genarally PvP i'd prefer Ironbark over this. Only a dotlock, who is a fairly rare species on BGs, should stick with +dmg only while he doesn't crit at all usually.

And for all now saying, there is no place for dotlocks in PvP.... they are hell. Before you even figure out WHAT is dotting you there you got your four dots on you. Until you reached they to beat the hell out of em you are halfway down. Well, but that's the moment they always have their deathcoil ready and... a well. I hate em, really. No matter if you kill them or not, you die anyways if you got no decurser around.

AND this with an enchanted mageblade is WTF dps in only two hands.

I love this offhand, i found it to be better to get this offhand than to spend the DKP on a MC offhand. especially if your guild is currently in BWL or AQ 40 where you will eventualy obtain something much better.... i say its good for now as a free of dkp item with nice +damage. =)

That's all there is to it. I absolutely OWNED in AV as SM/DS. My health regen gave me ridiculous DOTing potential, I could take out half the health of the entire enemy assault before I died. Yeah, I didn't get as many KB's as a Destro lock, but it helped the team waaay more than if I had been focusing on single targets.

HOWEVER! In WSG and AB, I have found Affliction to be woefully lacking. The first big difference between AV and WSG/AB is that the latter are run by an endless parade of premade's. They are generally decked out in some of the best gear with high resists, and most importantly, they are very fast with Decursive! It is amazingly frustrating to know that one priest can completely remove all of your damage from her team mates. Not to mention the fact that a renew will offset much of the DOT damage.

I <3 Affliction for PVE solo, but I am respeccing to grind AB & WSG to exalted.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but is +8 stamina really worth giving up "+dmg" for "+shadow dmg"? Granted, I am a lock and I use shadow bolt a lot, but 8 stamina doesn't strike me as enough incentive to give up +dmg on ALL my spells.

I'm leaning toward the shadow tome because its cheaper and is more raw damage. The rest of the HWL set gives you all the stamina you could want...any input?

Approaching exalted reputation with Alterac Valey very fast with my lock now, but I'm sort of in doubt whether to get

Tome of Shadow Force with +8 stamina and up to 34 damage on shadow spells),

or

Therazane's Touch with 0 stamina but increased damage and healing by magical spells and effect by up to 33.

My lock is Shadow Master/Ruin, more details here:

My affliction lock spent 6 months in battlegrounds between 58-60. At 60 he had the full purple set, High Warlords Spellblade in main hand and this in offhand.

I was level 68 before I replaced any of the purples. By the end of 68 I had replaced everything with greens and blues.

Best off-hand for an SM/ruin 'lock there is. Just got it after little over a week of grinding Alterac Valley, and I'm in love. ;)
