Immol'thar will sometimes knock a party member up in the air, but other than that has no real threatening abilities. However, he does spawn little "eyes" that must be killed ASAP. Designate someone to kill them as soon as they spawn, because if they are allowed to wander about, they make the encounter harder. They die pretty easily, so it shouldn't be a big effort to kill them.

This monster must be killed for the Dreadsteed quest. You have to kill elementals around the 5 spires around and above him to drop the shield around him. He's a very easy battle, no organization required for him... looks cool as hell though.

Solo'd as a 70 feral Druid in tanking gear and bear form. The real problems I had with this fight is when he teleports you into the air, the fall took about 2500 damage each time. Eyeballs I just save my Mangle for, it practically 1-shots them. And I just Demo Roar, Faerie Fire, spam Lacerate, and Maul when I've got extra rage on Immol. My Imp. LotP keeps me up through his damage, which is very little. He also has some sort of an enrage, probably a frenzy that needs to be Tranq'd, but there's nothing you can do about it unless you're a Hunter.
The key is to drag him up on top of the stairs so when he teleports you into the air you have enough time to pop out and heal yourself quick and go back into bear form before he gets down to you. Wash, rinse, repeat.
He really isn't all that hard once you get this strat working, actually a decent challenge compare the rest of the DM bosses.

Immol'thar is a pretty nasty boss. He has a trample attack that will do damage to players near the target of the attack which normally is the tank (i.e. the attack doesn't damage the tank, but friends near the tank). It hits for at least 600 on "soft" targets. Party member should either stay away from the tank or get some healing to counter the trample damage.
Occasionally he will cast
Portal of Immol'thar
on what appears to be a random player. The player will be teleported to the center of the area and fall to the ground taking fall damage. This damage scales with health, and I think the loss is around 15%-20%. The teleport spell is from the arcane school and arcane resistance will help you resist this attack (completely avoiding the teleport). If you land on top of Immol'thar you risk being hit by the trample attack, so Immol'thar should be dragged away from the center.
During the fight Immol'thar will continue to summon
Eye of Immol'thar
, and there seems to be no limit to how many he is able to spawn. The eye has a weak melee attack, but much worse it will apply a debuff on it's target also called
Eye of Immol'thar
that will slow the targets movement speed, attack speed and cast speed. If more that one eye is attacking a target they seem to apply this debuff synchronously, and furthermore reapplies the debuff shortly after it expires. As these debuffs stack several eyes are able to slow you seriously down. To counter this you have to kill the eyes fast. Since the eyes will aggro the healer if noone else attacks them a melee character can kill the eyes at the healers location and avoid trample damage at the same time. The slow debuff is from the shadow school and shadow resistance will help resist this attack.

In order to reach him (and the dreadsteed if you're a lock) u must either have the Crescent key (
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=18249
) or a rogue with a good lockpicking skill.

On my last run yesterday, we experienced a very unusual phenomenon with this boss. Instead of being Blue in color, he was red. And, dispite having a warrior, priest, shamman, warlock and a rogue, we could not bring him down to beyond 40% health.
After 5 attempts, we decided to call it quits on the possibility that it could be bugged.
The green eyes seemed also to be strangely more evasive to attacks and AoEs but dispite taking them down, Immoltar seemed to also recover his health at rate we could not keep up.
Bear in mind that the group had done this boss many times before, even after the latest patch.
Full holy spec priest could not keep up the heals also based on the damage he was dealing out.
Anyone know if there is a possiblity that a Red Immoltar could be a rare version that drops something different?

Immol'thar isn't bugged. If you let the eyes get out of control they will heal him. Make sure to have one or two people dedicated to killing eyes.

Keep him off the stairs..he glitches out, and goes into evade mode, just like when a mob runs out of range and heals up.. same thing.
Just keep him in the middle, with someone on the eyes, and you're good.
Did this yesterday night.glitched the first time.

Also if someone runs in the arena before he kills all the elves and returns to the middle.. you'll pretty much be automatically put in combat those eyes will aggro you from anywhere beforehand it seems. He'll recover his health in after you get him down

Just happened to me. Went on evade mode and healed completely. The problem is:
He teleports away the main tank, so he goes out of this friggin platform and then evade and heal.
Anyone have a solution?

60 Hunter (me)
60 Pally
60 Lock
60 Feral Druid
58 Priest
Pwned him in about 2 minutes, no one went below 90% life except my pet. (which didn't die)
I was really worried after reading the comments here that we'd need a warrior, but again the tank theory is disproven. I've now done every single 5 man without a warrior and have had no problems. (warriors rock, but are harder to find than healers)
Prince was easy as well. Lock died cause he got stuck in a corner, other than that, cake.
I'm excited about my Backwood helm, one more piece to my anti-BS set :)

We 4-manned it with mostly mixed green, blue, and a few purple pieces of gear:
Warrior (defensive spec)
Paladin (retribution spec)
Warlock (destruction spec)
Mage (frost spec, me)
First, we tried all of the many different tactics that came before this post and we wiped every single time. Then we said screw it.
All we did was... treat it like any other mob in the game. Let the warrior grab the thing by the wang, then started nuking and healing. We were barely even spec'ed for those jobs and I don't think LoH or SS were available for this fight. We completely ignored the eyeballs (unless one got close enough to us to swat, I think we killed 1 before the end) until this guy went down, then we mopped up.

Just duo'd this guy last night with a friend. He's lvl 70 and I'm lvl 67 atm, both demonology locks. Immol'thar has got around 35k health, not 100k as someone above said and hits for around 300-400 dmg on a lvl 70 felguard with ~7.3k armor. I believe he could be solo'd but you've gotta keep an eye on those eyes that he summons from time to time - they got pretty low HP though so you can kill them with like 1 SP. Anyway, we duo'd the warlock epix mount quest too, although that wasn't so easy as we thought it may be - used a few healing pots along with HS and both of us got SS'ed which happened to be a smart move because we just died when the summoning circle was complete ;) Anyway, Felpuppy FTW ^^

I tried soloing this guy just for fun. Prince Tortheldrin is a weakling compared to this guy. It took 3 deaths and I finally managed to kill him. I wanted to see if I could kill him w/out any buffs, but in the end I had to use Deadly/Instant poisons. Done as a sword rogue with almost all blues except for Exalted Aldor epic sword and Girdle of Treachery.
He dropped the Druid Cower book too O_o

What part of DM is this guy in, do I need to kill him for final part of warlock Q?

He's in the western part, you need to do the eastern part first and kill the little imp running around to get the key for west door. Just did this quest with no problems. Took me 10 soulshards for repairing all the 3 objects.

Solo'd this guy as a 70 affliction lock for the epic mount quest, but the summoning ritual was too much.
Dont waste your time trying to solo the quest, get at least 1 other person to help.

Did it today with my alt (67 Fury/Arms Warrior) and my 64 lock buddy.
Immol'thar is cake, got him down very easy and very fast.
The ritual is alot harder tho, the imps dont do that much damage to you, and the 100 reduced damage buff when u stay in the circle really helps, so I suggest staying INSIDE the circle at all time.
It helps you survive alot longer.
At the end of the ritual we wiped, but a corpse run back to the circle and we could move on, so no worries.
When my friend summoned the Dreadsteed and his master we were prepared for a hard fight, got healthstones and healing pots ready and buffed up with scrolls as much as we could.
During the fight I popped only the healthstone, the lock used both HS and a healing pot but we got both guys down.
Just make sure you kill the dreadsteed and talk to him, you will learn the spell from him, no need to kill his master, so IF you die and its only the master who is alive, don't even bothering killing him too, since TBC, the drops are nothing more then vendor trash.
Good Luck to all.
Have fun, cya

Just ran Dire Maul for the Lock Epic mount quest. Here is what i learned.
My group
64 Prot Warrior
70 Prot Warrior
64 Fire Mage
64 Warlock
64 Holy Priest
we didnt bother with most of the mobs in the instance, we were only there for the Epic Lock Mount. It is possible to walk through without aggro as long as you are around the lvls mentioned above. watch out for the wandering trees when you first enter.
The first thing you need to do is Clear out the guys that look like Voidwalers from around the 5 Crystal Tower looking things. they are located as follows:
One in the Garden area as soon as you enter the instance
Two on the upper level. Go past the garden and stay to the right and enter the room with the ghosts, go up the stairs and there is one behind the stairs and one directly across the room.
The last two are in the final room
when we pulled these, we got usually 1 or 2 voids, but the one in the garden we got 3 on the first pull.
When fighting these be careful. They have a lot of tricks. they use Blink, Mana Drain, arcane blasts, and some of them spawn minions after they die that do a nasty AOE until they are killed. I would suggest stunning and silencing as much as possible as they go right for the healer with their mana drain and Arcane blasts.
The final room is pretty easy.. Stay against the wall and clear everything. then go to work on the Voids that circle the Force Field (for lack of a better term) you can pull them one at a time.
After all the Crystal towers are clear of Voidwalkers the field drops down around the boss. What happens right then i do not know as the last Tower we finished was the one in the garden and when we got to the boss he was by himself.
we tanked the dog right in the center, and the mage killed all the guys that he spawns during the fight. Aparently these spawns will heal the boss but we did not experience this as this went very smoothly.
When you release the Imp get ready. A ton of Imps and Fel Guards come and attack. We marked our Lock with a Raid icon so we knew where she was at all times and could keep her clear of attackers. Warriors should use a ton of Thunder Clap mages can AOE but you will burn your mana in doing so. during this fight the 64 warrior Died and the priest died at the very end. but the rest finished off the imps and guards.
At this point get your mana and buffs back.
for the final fight the steed comes first followed by his handeler demon. neither one of them are too hard. This worked well becuase we had two tanks. the 70 tanked the steed and the 64 warrior tanked the boss. Quest complete.
Looking back on this I am thankful we had the two tanks, but a rogue would have been handy.
My idea of a perfect group for this would be:
Prot warrior
Mage for CC
the warlock
Holy priest
Rogue for Constant DPS that is not reliant on MANA
Good luck and have fun

this fight can get hard if u dont take out eyes. we had MT tank very well. im a hunter and i just had my wolf pet sit by my side and made a 2 second macro
/tar Eye
/script PetAttacK()
put the button on my side bar, then just clicked that when ever i saw a new thing on track demons. it worked great, and so the eyes never got a cast off.
also happened to have a winter veil disguise kit, which is great for negating fall dmg. if you use it while in the air, you stop mid fall, and hover as a snowman. then u can just remove the buff by right clicking and ur good to go. so i used that each time he ported me up. it was convenient that i had it; he only did it to me and he did it like 6 times

We had 3 shammies, warrior and rogue, just have one person watch the eyes who can one hit em, stops them from harassing others and healing Immol'thar and let evryone else do their job, wiped once, then did it this way, knocked 'im dead.

As other posts say, as long as you kill the eyes he spawns fast, he's a joke. Similar to how the Baron in Strat isn't bad as long as you AoE the skellys.
Someone in my party said he was nerfed in 1.10. I have no idea if that's true or not, but when I fought him today he was a piece of cake. The eyes only have about 500 hp, so just have someone with a fast attack or instant cast spell destroy them whenever they spawn. I'm gonna be seeing a lot of this guy until he drops my Robe of Everlasting Night :(

The eyes he spawn heal him I think, he went back to full health while we fought him. They also nag the priest so kill them immediately anyway.

For some reason this isn't written anywhere on the boss-page itself:
You need to take out all 5 Pylons to engage this boss.
