Welcome to the Brawler's Guild! Take your time here, talk to other brawlers, watch amazing matches, take a portal to Stormwind... What, you have an invitation? This way please!
Preparations
Be cocky as much as you wish - you aren't going to kill all bosses naked. You need to prepare for challenges ahead. So, what do you need?
First of all, the buffs. You WILL see a diffenerce when you brawl with 8/8 buffs present. Fortunately, other brawlers have the same problem, so there usually is a "buff group" around - just ask. Also, look for a warlock with Soulwell. Healthstones are a blessing during healing intense fights.
Secondly, the NPC at the entrance sells a variety of potions, usable only on Arena (eg.
Potion of Brawler's Deftness
. Those are very cheap (70s per one), so be sure to stack them. Remember to pre-pot before every fight, so you can use another potion - wheater it's DPS or healing one - during the match.
If you are going to face a truly difficult enemy, like Battletron, think about your personal investments. Flask, although expensive, can save your life with a dps boost. Same about food buffs. Be kind and share your banquets with your buff group!
Patch 5.2 introduced an interesting kind of trinket - a RPPM one. What's the difference between RPPM and non-RPPM? Basically, the first one can proc pretty much whenever, whereas the second one procces after a certain amount of time. Keep that in mind - RPPM trinkets are your salvation here if you can't get past through a certain boss. An old style trinket will proc only once per a match - RPPM one can do it not one, not two, but even three times. Or four, but I've never had this much luck.
Rank 1
The first set of bosses is simply a way to check if you are not a bot or a lost gold farmer. You can beat those bosses, and trust me, you will. Even tho one or two of them can suprise you, but don't worry, you will quickly adapt. Just don't turn upset when during your first fight it will be Bruces name what is yelled. He is the main celebrity here, you know.
Bruce
Say hello to your welcome boss! There is not much to worry about here. Bruce is a large crocolisk who has just one ability - "
Chomp chomp chomp
". If you are caught in fromt of him when he is using it, you die, simple enough. The trick is to move away when he starts casting it. You have plenty of time.
Vian the Volatile
This boss has 3 abilities. The first one,
Fire Line
, is just like Bruce - move away. He also summons
fire orbs
that bounce around the arena, acting like a soft enrage since they don't disappear, and a
simple fireball
spell, isn't any real threat.
Goredome
This one is another Bruce. Basically, move away when he casts. This time it's a
long-range charge
, so be prepared, as he uses it right at the beginning.
Dungeon Master Vishas
A big return of our favourite torturer! Vishas can be tricky with his
Heated Pokers
spell. He engulfs his daggers on fire, casing them to do extreme damage each time he scores a hit. Remember to run away/stun/kite him when he does so. After you got that right, congratulations, you reached rank 2!
Rank 2
After the initiation, here is a bunch of a bit more difficult enemies. Knowing your class will help now, trust me. Dippy will peck you to death with crowd cheering if you don't.
Dippy
A very melee-unfriendly fight. Dippy is a penguin who can almost one-shot you with his
Peck
ability, which he casts very often and which has a very short cast. The only way to deal with it is to make him move around a lot and receive damage - his feet are slippery, which causes him to fall every time he does. Trivial for ranged, but requires awareness from melee brawlers.
Kirrawk
If you have an interrupt/silence spell, use it a lot. Kirrawk's
Lightning Bolts
really start to hurt. This is not his most dangerous ability tho - he casts an AoE spell called
Storm Cloud
as well. Finally,
Tornado
ability summons a, you guessed it, tornado, which will follow you until it touches you or Kirrawk. The touched is sent flying straight up. Remember to run away from it and make Kirrawk be the sucker, since while you are in air, this guy will spam you to death with
Lightning Flurry
.
Fran and
Riddoh
A goblin mounting a hobgoblin. If that is not weird enough, it's also the only non-linear fight here - it depends on which one will you take down first. I recommend killing Riddoh, since when he sees his master dead, he
enrages
, causing pretty annoying damage. The fight is rather simple - don't stand on
mines
, dodge
dynamite
thrown by Fran. Riddoh also throws a net at you, which is a root effect, but it is not really a big threat.
King Kulaka
I've heard many players have problems with this particular dinosaur, and I see why. His only ability is
Dash
, which causes him to move way faster, but the problem lies in his melee damage. If you wish to survive this encounter, you need to kite the boss as long as you can or pop your defensive cooldowns. Many rogues lost their lives here, being mauled to death.
Rank 3
Let's say things are getting interesting here. Ixx can make you start to think about your movement a bit more, Sanoriak - about your interrupts and other similiar skills. You will need them even more, just wait.
Blat
This ooze has an annoying tendency to
split
itself into even more Blats. There is no reason to damage the clones, since the have almost the same amount of HP as the original Blat. The only trick you need to use is your dps and perhaps kiting skills. Just don't let the clones overwhelm you, zerg the Blat himself and you won.
Sanoriak
Vian version 2.0. This time
fireballs
actually hurt, so having an interrupt really helps. His most dangerous ability tho is his
Rain of Fire
. It covers a large portion of the arena and is placed almost directly at you. Get out of it as soon as you can - the fire really nukes down your hp.
Ixx
Simple concept - one of the bosses you may watch and consider easiest ever, but change your mind when actually fighting them. Ixx is a large Silthid who uses only one ability -
conal cleave
, seen performed by rare Mogu Warrior elites. This one is deadly and cast very frequently, sometimes one just after another. To pass this boss I suggest standing right in the middle of his hitbox and being fully focused - those cleaves aren't that easy to dodge. Aha, and he starts with 20% hp, so warm up your Executes.
Mazhareen
This cat will do increased damage when he is low on health. No philosophy here - the only way to do it is to just nuke him down, saving defensive CDs/main DPS CDs for the end. Voila, welcome to rank 4!
Rank 4
Those fights may provide a challange - at last. Dominika the Illusionist is probably the first boss you need to write your own strategy for, and some of Leona Earthwind matches are pretty entertaining, when looking at players desperatly trying to run away from those flowers.
Crush
This yeti made me laugh really hard sometimes. It's basically a dps check - you need around 50k to win against the enrage timer. His only ability is similiar to what Icehowl dows in ToC, but this time he won't knock you back when getting ready for it and won't receive damage taken debuff when he misses you. Just dodge his charges and dps as much as you can. The funny thing is how this fight sometimes glitches, causing Crush to fall down in the middle of arena, or charge towards a wall REALLY SLOWLY, so it seems he hits it on purpose. When done laughing, finish him off.
Leona Earthwind
Wrath
is interrutable (and does not really hit hard), and
Solar Beam
is just small place where you should not stand, or you will get silenced. The problem this druid chick causes are her adds. They appear as
sprouts
and mature after a few seconds, coming right for you and dealing quite annoying damage. If you aren't a AoE class you might have problems here. Try to burn the adds down as soon as possible, or, if you trust your single target DPS, just stun/cc/ignore them and burn down the main dish. Your choice - I recommend killing adds tho.
Dominika the Illusionist
Get ready for this one. Dominika summons
adds
, which have only 1 hp, but deal just
as much damage
as she does. The problem is, she summons them pretty frequently, and even more frequently when you deal damage to her. I've seen warriors burning her down without touching the adds - I don't recommend it tho. If you simply concentrate on her the adds will eat you alive. The trick here is to balance boss and add damage. You may spend a few tries here. The best way to deal with adds is aoe - Warlock's Mammoroths Fury is a blessing here. The outcome of this fight really depends on class.
Deeken
Funny boss. This robot covers the borders of the arena with bubbly electrocity aoe thing (you need to see for yourself:D), which moves to you, forming large rectangles. Pretty easy fight, but you need to always be focused and dodge the rectangles.
Rank 5
Let's say this is the moment where every challanger, even the most cocky one, can be stopped for a second. Millie Watt encounter is a really funny way to halt a player rushing for rank 8. Leper Gnome Quintet, one of my favourite fights, will show you how much dps you will need in next encounters. And movement. And cooldowns. And...
Millie Watt
First fight of rank 5 opens up with one of the Blizzard's greatest trolls. The boss throws
electric dynamite
at you, which creates electric void zones. As usual, you threat those things as "no-no" and stay away from them. However, she sometimes uses
Megafantastic Discombobumorphanator
to turn you into a chicken, which pretty much ends this fight if she succeeds. The trick is... To stand in the void zone for a second, just when her polyformic cast is about to end. Therefore, you got chickened in the void zone, and its damage wakes you up from it immidiately, so you can continue dpsing. Remember about this all the time - those void zones are somewhat good this time. Ah, she also has a
laser attack
, interruptable.
Fjoll
Pretty easy boss. Fjoll is a large dead Vrykul, who places fiery void zones (those are totally bad this time) around the arena. They aren't problematic, as long as he does not knock you back there, what he does frequently. Always cover your back with wall to prevent this from happening. Also, he uses a kind of interruptable shadow nova, but you can simply run away when he does that.
Proboskus
Ever fought Jinyu rare champions? This is just it, but this time bigger, stronger, and well, not Jinyu - he is a Water Strider. Probuscus main ability is easy to dodge
Rain Dance
- just observe the pattern of where the drops are flying to and make sure they don't touch you, or you're dead. Also, his
Torrent
ability is a big pain, since the only thing you can do to stop him is to interrupt him. Classes without this blessing must find a way. I used Silencing Shot and simply managed to burn him down before he casted it another time.
Leper Gnome Quintet
Trivial for some classes, hardcore for other. The only thing those rotting gnomes do is chasing you around and applying
stacking debuff
, which slowly eats your HP. You have to keep running and kiting them to refresh it, or you are as good as dead. Some classes also reported to be able to clear the debuff off, like Paladin with his famous bubble. Having good AoE is nearly mandatory here, or your single target DPS needs to be extremly good.
Rank 6
Pretty disappointing rank, if you ask me. None of those bosses was more difficult then Leper Gnomes or even Dominika. You will probably get quickly to rank 7, and the only thing that may stop you is the damage from Akama or Unguloxx. "May" being the key word.
Yikkan Izu
This large crow thing has one annoying thing about him - adds. 4 of them are present at start, and he periodically summons more. You wish to kill those adds as soon as possible, since they do deal pretty high damage. But watch out - if Yikkan sees more then 5 of his fallen kin at once, he enrages, which almost means a game over. Therefore, always make sure if he won't go nuts before killing off the adds.
Akama
Ready your self healing abilities! This one is mostly about it. His
Shadow Attacks
are similiar to Heated Pokers used by Vishas - don't let them hurt you. Akama summons his
wolf pals
as well - try to kill those as soon as possible, since their attacks really hurt. His
Thunderstorm
knocks you back, while dealing damage, and likes to use his last ability,
Chain Lightning
, just after. This should be interrupted, since it deals around 100k damage. Aha, and his melee attacks are annoying as well. Just make sure you don't die here.
Smash Hoofstomp
Why is he having those goblins on his shoulders... Okay, anyway: this Tauren has 2 main abilities. His
Stomp
, shich he uses frequently to damage and knock you back, and some sort of Shield Wall, which prevents him from being damaged from the front (see: Emperors Courage, Will of the Emperor encounter). The only problem you can encounter is his melee damage (yes, he hits like a Tauren), and his large amount of health. This is mitigated by the fact that every time you kill one of his goblins he gets a 50% debuff to damage taken, stacking twice. Not a difficult encounter.
Unguloxx
A perfect tank and spank fight. Really, he has literally NO abilities. The only fact you need to deal with is his white damage - he hits like truck. Being aware of that, kite him around or use your defensive cooldowns/self heals. And of course dps, dps, dps, before he decides to.
Rank 7
Yea, you are nearly there. And guess what, the difficulty level is miles higher now. No more screwing around, we're getting serious. Each of the 3 next bosses is a grand challenge to your awareness, dps and survival abilities. Good luck, especially at Battletron! And have fun stomping on Meatball after all.
GG Engi
neering
Have I mentioned that we are getting serious now?
GG Engineering is for some classes the most difficult rank 7 fight. Those classes are those without self heals. And even then, classes that do have those abilities can be humiliated by those two little scums. This fight requires all you needed to do before - just 10 times better.
Your targets are Bo Bobble (gnome) and Max Megablast (goblin). They shared health pool is 11M, which is stunning at first, but we will learn how to deal with that. Gnome is armed with a
laser gun
, which hits for 90k damage, with a relatively short cast. Goblin has a
rocket launcher
, which fires rockets during channeling. The rockets spread around the arena, trying miserably to hit your position, and deal really high amount of damage - you dont want to be hit by those at any moment. The trick is to use them against gnome - they hurt him as well, so remember to stand near him all the time. Else, there is small chance that you will meet the enrage timer.
There are 4 shield generators in the arena as well, each for each corner. Periodically, one of the engineers will port to one of the generators and activate it, forming a barrier surrounding them. The barrier deflects all damage, and works for the bosses just as much as for the player. The Shield Generator inside can be destroyed tho, and if it is, the shield is turned off. The engineers take turns entering the shields - first one to do so is gnome, then goblin and so on.
The way to do this fight is to stand on the gnome all the time, dodging rockets and hoping they will hit him. The target you dps does not really matter (as long if the target is not in the barrier), since their health pool is shared. When gnome is in the barrier, you wish to destroy it quite fast, so the rockets continue to hurt him. When the goblin is inside, you just force him to shoot his partner from the barrier. Of course, you may wish to enter each barrier as well, but the enrage timer may have other idea about this concept.
The last thing, and probably most important thing you need to deal with is the gnomes laser. You will frequently be harmed with 90k damage, which can burn you down quickly. This is the moment where self heals are a blessing - those beams are interruptable/stunable, but they come one after another anyway. The only thing there is to do is to find a way to somehow survive the laser assault. Classes without self heals are in real trouble here.
From hunters point of view: I used a tanacity pet and always kept it on gnome, dpsing goblin. Keeping the pet up through Mend Pet was pretty difficult as well, but doable for the most part. Therefore, pet never loses aggro and I don't need to worry about laser harming my own health pool. During my winning attempt my pet died at the end anyway, but I managed to finish without it.
Dark Summoner
Not feeling lucky? Well, try another time.
Dark Summoner himself is just a skeleton in robe, walking towards you very slowly. His main attack is a
shadowbolt
, which hurts, but is manageable. He starts with a
shield
upon himself, so forget about popping CDs soon. Wait for the real deal -
the ghosts
.
Ghosts are summoned by Dark Summoner every 15 seconds or so. Those creatures also slowly progress towards you, and have pretty low health pool - around 200k or so. If they melee you, you die. And the only thing that can prevent them from reaching you is a new mechanic - flashlight. Yes, I know it's called something else, but thats what it is - a cone of light comimg from you. This little thing stuns ghosts caught in the light, allowing you to score some free hits. Even if you are melee, don't come too close, those ghosts seem to melee anyway if you do.
The main thing about the ghosts is that killing one of them allows you to DPS the Dark Summoner himself for 20 seconds. Therefore, you wish to do this fight in a simple rotation: kill a ghost - DPS Summoner - kill a ghost and so on. All this while kiting all the remaining ghosts with your flashlight. Sounds trivial, right? At least after the GG Engineering.
Well, it should sound like that. This is where the RNG comes in. The ghosts can spawn nearly ANYWHERE. And I'm not talking about a situation where you kite all the ghosts and the Summoner in front of you and a ghosts spawns just behind, so you need to switch position quickly to get his with the rest. No, thats just slight inconvenience. The real deal is when the ghosts spawn RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE STANDING. Yes, they can do that. And this is obviously a wipe.
So, how to deal with this fight? Patience. Follow the tactic closely, gather all mobs in front of you and kite them while moving backwards. Kill one ghost just after the Summoners shield goes back up. And pray for good RNG. Thats's the hardest part.
And, just to finish this, you should really pay attention to his Shadowbolts. Those aren't the GG laser level, but still can burn you down pretty fast. Interrupts and such work here perfectly, but always have a backup potion/healthstone/self heal.
Battletron
You are slowly progressing towards rank 8, a set of the most awesome, most punishing and most insane things and abilities in WoW. To the ultimate test of your abilities and gear. The question is: are you ready? The answer is: BATTLETRON.
Battletron combines all elements you encountered before. It is a fight with lots of movement and enviroment awareness. It is a major dps check. It requires you to survive constant incoming damage. And each of those aspects is really difficult. Basically, the fight is about being able to do around 80k dps. Constantly moving. Constantly focusing at where are you going. And surviving 40k damage every 3 seconds or so, with a few of 90k damage spikes.
First of all, be prepared. Have all buffs, eat up, bring your flask, remember to buy those potions, get a healthstone, make sure you get Bloodlust. Everything helps, and everything is required. Unless you are fully heroic raid geared you are signing up for a major carnage, and even if you are, you've got a challange you did not encounter with most raid bosses.
The 80k DPS barrier is your first concern. If you know that with all those factors you wouldn't be able to do this DPS on a training dummy, simply gear up - there is no other way around. To be honest, if you managed to get this far, you should be good enough to squeeze that much during a 2 minute fight. The second thing is being able to do this while moving constantly. And I mean constantly: there are no stops, no breaks to cast a quick spell while stationary. Be aware of that. Hunters have easy time in here, but if you are for example mage, then I wish you good luck. You will need it.
The movement part comes from this bosses unique ability. The Battletron remains stationary, but surrounds himself with
6 clockwise moving levitating mines
. If you touch one or your spell/arrow touches one it explodes, dealing 90k damage. The trick is to explode 1 or 2 (depends how much can you take) at the beginning and thus creating a gap to DPS through during the fight. You still need to constantly move to be at this gap, because other mines didn't stop moving around. I don't recommend popping 4 or more, which can be logical for those who can survive this, because he simply summons more. The moving part, where you ave a really narrow space to navigate, is really challening. Remember, you are doing this while concentrating on maxing your dps.
Then comes the healing part. This is the same funny thing as in GG encounter - classes without good self heals have a much harder time here. Therefore, if you are one of those, make sure you're using spec and talent build that maximizes your survival and self healing skills, and equip yourself with healing potions and warlocks HP stones. This is mandatory. Myself, I had this all and BM spec with Spirit Beast, using Spirit Mend on cooldown and I barely survived the encounter, with around 0.1% hp left.
The damage comes from two sources. First are the exploding mines. You will most likely pop 2 during the start of the encounter, which, assuming you won't make any mistakes, leaves you lacking 180k already. The second source, and the real pain in the ass, is, why,
a laser
. The boss uses his laser every 3 seconds, burning 40k of your life away. There is no cast nor channeling, it is instant, and the boss is immune to CC. Moreover, the damage pierces through the effect it shouldn't, like hunters Deterrance or paladins bubble. There is nearly no way to avoid it, you need to be creative to do so, but even creativity does not get you far. Just be aware there is 40k ever 3 seconds to heal.
Finally, good luck. This fight is a testament to your skills and abilities. If you manage to destroy Battletron, whether you manage to win against rank 8 bosses or not - you are the man, and you have every reason to be proud of.
Meatball
You've beaten Battletron? Here is your award.
Meatball is one of the funniest and most satisfying things ever. This Gnoll has a large health pool, unzergable in time given by the enrage timer. The only thing you have to do to beat him is to
collect orbs
scattered on the ground (you simply walk over them), that heal you by a large amount and give you a stacking damage buff. And it stacks really high.
You basically run around, collecting insane amounts of stacks on the buff, and looking at your abilities slowly start to hurt this poor fella, finally simply mauling him down. You don't have to worry about any damage, since you heal it up with the orbs. You just destroy this gnoll. Run him over with a tank of your buff. Crush him with your hammer of stacks. And it is glorious.
I've never had so satisfying and cheap kill than this one. It's your award for killing something super serious. And in my opinion it works.
Gongratulations, you reached rank 8!
Bonus bosses (Old rank 8)
This is it. This is what you were trying to reach. After beating all rank 7 bosses you can can yourself a great player, definitely above average. Just one small step and you will be officially marked as badass. Rank 8 - and now things go real. Ready your DPS cooldowns and make sure you drank enough energetics to have 0.1 second reaction time.
Zen'Shar
Probably the easiest boss among those four. But beware! "The easiest" means "around Battletron level". Doesn't sound that easy now?
Zen'Shar is another ultimate test to both DPS and "get out of stuff" skill. Healing is not the factor here, since screwing up once leaves you lying on the ground, wishing those players around ress you. As I said, this fight is similiar to Battletron, but in fact, it can be easier for some classes. So, let's have a look.
This fight is a 2 phase encounter. In phase one, you don't fight Zen'Shar himself, only adds circling around him (the boss is immune during the phase). Your goal here is to burn all adds with your AoE skills as soon as possible in order to get to the real fight. Those adds are conviniently stacked nearly in one place, so the range of your AoE doesn't matter now. The strengh of it does. It's reccomended to use your cooldowns at start, just to get to the main course as soon as possible.
Phase 2 is an entirely different thing. Now, all the little adds you killed before float in air, attacking you with moving laser (yes, another one) attacks. This laser does a TON of damage, and is similiar to, for example, Kologarns eye rays - the difference is that this laser won't follow you around. The real problem is the fact that there are so many of those lasers around that it's difficult to find a spot to stand still for more than a second. Moving is the main concern here.
The boss becomes active as well. Zen'Shar is a giant eyeball in the middle of the room. He does not have any melee or direct spell attack - instead, he uses
Evil Glare
, an instant kill attack that you have to dodge all the time. He uses it around every 5 seconds, each time marking the spot he will hit like 2 seconds before the Glare hits you. You have to get out of there as soon as possible - but oh, watch out for those lasers flying around! This is an endurance round. Try to dedge everything while concentrating on dpsing the boss.
The easiest way to deal with the movement is to move in a straight line between the wall closer and the wall further from the entrance to Brawl'Gar Arena, each time directly under the boss himself. Each time when you are forced to switch sides due to Evil Glare appearing under you there will be like one laser you need to dodge. However, don't consider those places "safe spots" - the chance of being hit by a laser is smaller if you move this way, but you still need to be extra aware.
The DPS requirement is also very high. The boss has a bit over 7M HP, which is not astonishing - Battletron has more. However, remember - you have a long AoE phase before you get to the actual boss. Therefore, this fight is way easier for classes like SV hunter or Frost DK, classes with great AoE in addition to single target DPS. Those, who find their AoE dps lacking at this point, are in big trouble.
Basically, another DPS and dodge fight - only this time you have to be perfect. Good luck!
Epicus Maximus
Get ready to be rocked to death!
The next fights... I can't help but call them after Mortal Kombat bonus modes. Test your might. Test your luck. Test your sight. Thats pretty much rank 8 in a nutshell - Zen'Shar does not count, he is nearly rank 7.5.
Well then, let us start. Test your might!
The boss himself is called Epicus Maximus. A well written name for this one. Small history: back in the days of Cataclysm beta, when the Maelstrom was created, somebody pointed out that this place was boring. Uninspired. And, compared to how important it was, not very epic. You know what - his voice was heard. As a small joke, Blizzard added a NPC to the place for the beta testers to enjoy - he never made it out to live. This NPC was in fact Epicus Maximus - the epicness in its purest form. Simply put - it's a undead guitar player riding a devilsaur riding a shark armed with cannons. Say what you wish - this guys raised the epicness on a whole new level. Blizzard used his model in live in one case before - he appeared briefly during an Uldum quest,
A Disarming Distraction
. Brawlers guild is his second appearance outside of beta.
Epicus Maximus is a hardcore and thrilling DPS race. The requirement goes insane on this one - you need at least 100k dps to beat the enrage. The bar is set way higher than on the previous bosses. But watch out - it's not a training dummy. You have to constantly move, reposition the boss, stay aware about what is he doing at the time given.
Let's glance at his abilities first. The undead guitarist will be playing rock constantly, throwing notes of
Pure Rock'n'Roll
around. Those for a swirling orbs on the ground, which get hit a couple of seconds after by an AoE attack, capable of killing you instantly. This is your void zone of the day - stay away.
Destructolaser
is keeping up with a traidition of using laser attacks by Brawlers Guild bosses. This one follows you around when used, and one shots you if hits. Epicus has channel this attack, which stops him from moving and meleeing, but not from throwing Rock'n'Roll around. This attack is usually followed by
Blue Crush
, another channeled ability, which kills you in 2-3 hits happening every 0.5 second if it's not interrupted or outranged. More on that later.
So, what's the tactic, what to do?
For melee: there is not much to be said. Melees have to tank the boss in a place, preferably the middle of the arena. Be aware tho, his melee attacks do actually hurt. The fight boils down to running around dodging Rock'n'Roll, laser (when he triggers it), and interrupting Blue Crush immidiately. In melees case this is crucial, since Blue Crush will outright kill you if you don't click the interrupting button.
For ranged: the best tactic is to actually kite the boss between two corners of the arena. On the pull you should position yourself in one corner and start dpsing the boss. When he uses his laser attack, you run into the opposite corner (remember, you have to dodge both the void zones and the laser). From there, the attack following the Destructolaser - Blue Crush - won't even hit you, so during his channeling you can score a few hits. After that, he will come after you. Rinse and repeat.
The tactic is simple enough. What makes this fight difficult is the DPS requirement. You need 100k dps before the fire starts raining down. This is why this fight is the "Test of Might" - the dps requirement is actually very hard to beat. There is not much more I can say other that has been said several times. Drink the flask. Prepot. Eat up. Have all buffs. Have the best talents for a 2 minute fight. Other than that, remember, when choosing a proper build, seek ONLY the dps upgrades. There is no need to really look for self healing or damage reductors - most of the things that hit you here kill you outright. YOu just have to dodge them. And dps, dps, dps. Hit it with your hurting things until he's dead.
After that, congratulations! You managed to kill the most epic thing that has ever existed in WoW!
Millhouse Manastorm
Everything, up to now, was just a setback
Millhouse Manastorm is one of the most recognizable gnomes in World of Warcraft. Even tho he didn't do much he achieved a legendary status, like Gamon or Mankrik. He appeared first in the Arcartaz, being imprisoned by an Old Gods minion, and after that he was in Deepholm, supervising... well, doing evil things. We thought he met his demise in the Stonecore, being eaten alive by a giant worm, but it was merely a setback!
Manastorm is our "Test your luck" encounter. I will start with the DPS requirement. 400k. It's not a typo - this is how much you need to squeeze before being burned by flaming inferno of enrage. This makes him the boss with highest berserk timer here - but we gonna learn how to deal with that.
Millhouse himself uses two abilities, one after another:
Frostbolt
and
Shadowbolt
. Both deal very small amount of damage, it's pretty much a filler for the fight. When you get too close to him, he uses
Get Off!
, a very damaging ability that keeps you from hugging him all the time - it will be important later on.
Summon Power Crystals
is the most important element of the fight. Millhouse uses this every 10 seconds or so, more frequently if the Frostbolt or Shadowbolt before summoning is interrupted - keep that in mind. This ability creates two
Power Crystals
about 15 yards away from him. Don't stand in the place where the crystal is going to be summoned, or you are going to be damaged. Crystals cast
Power Overwhelming
- a beam (or a laser, if you will) that travells to Manastorm, granting him 5% damage buff per tick, stacking to 100 (500%). The buff also increases the receivers size, making this fight a clash of titans at later phases. The crystals disappear after about 15 seconds (yes, after another set is summoned, so the maximum amount of crystals up is 4), but can be killed as well, and quite quickly. You don't want Millhouse to get too many stacks, or his magic attacks will actually start to hurt you. Moreover, at 100 stacks, Manastorm casts his signature move,
Dooooooom!
, which kills you almost instantly. How to stop this little monster from getting so powerfull? Well - steal the buff for yourself!
This is your main concern in this fight. Whenever the crystals land, you need to position yourself just enough to intercept the beam travelling to manastorm and get progressively pumped up. The crystals fall quite randomly, so sometimes you will be able to get only one beam, sometimes two. Sometimes three or four. If you can't reach the crystal, destroy it so Millhouse won't get the buff anyway, or place your pet in the beam. For pet users this is also quite crucial, since while you are getting more powerfull, your 15% of dps does not.
Intercepting beams takes practice. You can't stand too close, or Millhouse will push you back with Get Away. You have to know each time you see crystals spawning whether you can intercept more than one beam or not. Positioning is crucial here. This is also the reason why I call this fight "Test your Luck". Sometimes you can be lucky, getting two beams at first, and getting additional two after that (so in this case in the second set of crystals you have 4 beams), which quickly gets you to maximum number of 100 stacks. You can be very unlucky, having the crystals constantly spread out. I can tell you one thing - if you see you are managing to get only two beams at once during an attempt, and you do not outgear this fight (around 510 ilvl should do the trick), you failed. Why?
This is where the 400k dps requirement kicks in. There is no other way around - you need 100 stacks as quickly as possible, pop your cooldowns and destroy Manastorm as quickly as possible. With a perfect setup you get 500% if a mere moments, in the worst - at around half of the fight. Even in the perfect case, your DPS needs to be very high. Nearly Epicus Maximus high. If you're not very lucky - even way higher.
This fight takes a lot of practice, skill and yes, luck, to complete. But if you win, be proud. You killed Millhouse Manastorm. A giant rock worm the size of a small building couldn't do that but you did. Congratulations!
Disruptron
This guy. This freaking guy...
I can easily bet Disruptron is a boss you gonna face last in rank 8. This little guy is the ultimate "Test your sight" I mentioned before. The precision required, the amount of obstracles, and the way they one hit you - this could be the hardest fight in the entire WoW, if not in any game.
The basics: Disruptron is one of the few bosses that do not melee you at all. This little guy takes his time, wandering slowly around the arena. As a melee you have to follow him all the time. This can be tricky, since his only ability is
Static Charge
- a 3 second cast stun that pretty much means "Game Over". The stun is, of course, not the only thing that happens.
Up to now, I was jokingly pointing out how many fights in Brawlers Guild have lasers in them. Well, this is the culmination, how could it miss them? This time there are 3 lasers, hitting you for over 440k damage. Those lasers slowly move back and forth in the arena, two from west to east and back, one from north to south and back. If you even touch one of those they will hit you for the mentioned 440k damage. You can't avoid it - those lasers cover the entire arena with their movement, so you need to practice avoiding them.
You need to jump over those lasers or cross them at the right moment. The lasers blink, when they shine the brightiest they hit for the full potential, and when they are barely visiable they do not hit at all. Trying to avoid them that way is putting all your faith in your 0 reaction time and 0 latency - thus, I do not recommend it. The "easiest" way is to jump over them. "Easiest", since sometimes you will find yourself in a position where there is barely any way to jump over them, since you may encounter all 3 lasers coming towards you. The jump needs to be practiced, since one mistake here means game over. One pro tip for Horde brawlers - do not try to jump the lasers from the lower portion of the arena in the middle. This part seems to be bugged, and sometimes a good jump there is awarded with a clean death.
The lasers pattern vary a bit depending on whether you are Alliance of Horde. In the Alliance arena, the laser moving N-S does not reach the end of the arena, leaving you a safe spot from it near one of the walls. In Horde arena, both of the lasers moving W-E have that, but each of them doesn't reach the opposite wall. Therefore, if you hug, for example, the eastern wall, you need to jump over every second laser coming towards you. And, of course, the one going across all the time. This fact, whatever your faction is, requires to be used, or you will have really hard time fighting this little guy.
The second part of the fight are cannons. There are four cannons, one in each corner (2*
Dual-Phasic
and 2*
Tri-Phasic
), plus one
Penta-Phasic
in the middle. They shoot either 2, 3, or (in case of Penta-Phasic) 5 orbs of aoe, that in case of the corner cannons cover 1/4 of the arena, and in case of the middle one - almost entire. The orbs deal around 250k damage and fly really fast. During the fight, Disruptron will activate and deactivate random cannons, so you won't get more than two shooting at the same time. The orbs are dodgeable by simply moving away, no jumping is required. The tricky part is that you are jumping like a moron all the time, so dodging lethal AoE orbs becomes quite hard.
That wasn't even the hard part. At 35% Disruptron activates ALL cannons and makes them shoot way faster for the reminder of the fight, making it almost impossible to survive. This is the moment when you figure out that the only way to survive the fight is to hug one of the walls - when standing near the middle of one of the walls you are safe from being hit by a cannon. This makes the fight way easier for the Alliance players, who can remain close to one of the walls for the entire fight, just jumping over two lasers coming from the sides and dodging the middle cannon blasts. Of course, the fight is still terribly hard, but not quite as much as Horde version, where you have no other way than to expose yourself to cannon blasts where you jump over one of two lasers that go all the way to your wall.
So, basically, this fight boils down to frantically doding everything possible. There is no big dps requirement here, you need around 85k to meet the timer. But well, I suggest dealing more.
The 35% phase is a place where you really don't wanna stay for long. You need to finish the fight fast. Therefore, for Disruptron I really suggest a build where you can burst awesome damage at the right moment - I went in BM, for example. The shorter it takes to get this guy from 35% to 0%, the better. Or you won't survive for long.
This is what the fight boils down to. To be honest tho, reading the key points of the fight in this guide is pretty much only 1% of the effort you need, especially if you are Horde. You gotta practice like Rocky Balboa. Memorize the pattern of the lasers. Figure out the best angle, the best position or each jump you gonna do. Engage him again, and again, and again, until you can jump over those damn lasers with eyes closed. Then the fight boils down to dodging orbs - which is still excruciating. Trust me, you won't do this fight in one try, even with heroic gear.
So well, if you are at this point, good luck practicing those jumps. It will take some time, but when you do it - you killed the hardest, most unforgiveable boss in the entire game. And thats awesome.
Ps: By the way, before 5.2 there was a tactic of using levitate to completly negate lasers in the fight. First of all, this tactic is no longer useable, since the lasers will now hit you even if you are hoovering above them. And secondly, why the hell would you do that? There is no other goal here then just the satifaction from the kill.

Good overview, would just recommend adding the links to boss abilities if possible so players can read the exact tooltips. They should be found in tabs like

Awesome guide! However it'd look nicer if you included photos of each boss, would break up the wall of text a bit :D

Great guide, thanks. I was glad to have some idea of what each boss would do before stepping into the arena.
I don't think that you need images, they would most likely mess up your nice, clean layout. Plus on the ones that look different from what one might expect, you mention what they'll look like. Though if you feel the need to include images, I might suggest making a horizontal strip of four below each section, in order from left to right.

Fun little note: If you're under Ixx AT ALL you'll die. Doesnt even matter if you're out of the attack.

Listing the rare bosses as rank 8 right after rank 7 is a little confusing. I guess that it used to be like that before patch but it doesn't work like that anymore. After finishing Meatball I read the Zen'Shar guide and prepared for it... just to be violently massacred in 2 seconds by Hexos, which now spawns after Meatball. Just thought I would mention it so it doesn't happen to others. Cheers for great guide!

Thank you for the guide.
I apologize, but I am *very basic* and
inexperienced
at Brawl'gar. I need the extreme basics, and wonder if you would or wouldn't mind including them.
Where is Brawl'gar, and how do you get there? Is flying, or Pandaren, or Cold Weather flying required?
Which factions may enter?
Can you get in below level 90 (as of patch 5.3 or 5.4, circa autumn 2013) ?
Would you mind including or describing the vendor, what he has for sale, and if we need reputation to buy some items?
Thanks again for the very inclusive guide!

I just defatted battletron without ever moving. He was by far so easy to defeat and your guide had me scared and almost running to the isle to get better geared by getting valor capped the easy way.
