Leveling a Guild in 15 (/played) Days
So you want to get your guild to level 25, but you are a solo player, just a handful of players, just too darn impatient?
Well, Thanks to changes in the last few expansions, you can have your very own max guild with all the level perks!
I'll get into the math in a moment but lets make sure everyone knows why this is feasible now:
Each quest completed by a guildie that is not "gray" (i.e. would yield experience) awards 60,000 guild XP
There is no longer a cap on how much guild XP can be awarded daily/weekly... Simply put, everything you
can
do to get guild XP counts!
One other thing that is critical for this approach is the ability to freeze your own experience. Be aware of where
Behsten
and
Slahtz
hang out, and don't forget to visit them before getting into this process.
Okay, Now to explain this process, and then explain how to milk it for maximum effect:
You will need a character that:
Is Level 80-82*
Has
never ever
ever
ever
completed the Zul'Drak Quest
Pa'Troll
... If it has, then you will need a new toon.
Has learned
Master Flying
Is armed to the teeth with Cata/MoP Greens and Blues*
* Druids can avoid all combat for this process by remaining in flight form, they only need to be level 80 and possess
Master Flying
.
So once you have a toon that satisfies these pre-reqs, head over to
Behsten
or
Slahtz
and get your experience frozen.
It would be a little annoying to set up your character for this and then level out of quest-credit eligibility before finishing!
Next, Get to Northrend and then fly into Zul'drak. You are going to
Commander Kunz
at the Argent Stand to pick up
First Things First
. This quest leads you to Light's Breach in Zul'Drak; burn through these quests and get sent to Ebon Watch to do some questing there.
When you speak to
Bloodrose Datura
and finally pick up
Taking a Stand
, you can drop all other quests and head back to the Argent Stand looking for
Commander Falstaav
, who stands just in front of
Commander Kunz
. Falstaav offers two quests, according to Wowhead comments, you only need to do
Parachutes for the Argent Crusade
to unlock
Pa'Troll
, but I've always done both so I don't know for sure on this one... I would just do both.
At this point,
Commander Kunz
should light up with a couple of new quests;
Pa'Troll
and
New Orders for Sergeant Stackhammer
. While we only really care about Pa'Troll, I take the other one to just clear his dialogue box and keep things simple for later...
Now you are ready to rock some serious Guild XP!
Oh wait, you don't know what's special about
Pa'Troll
? As far as I know it holds a unique quest mechanic; other quests unlock new quests upon completion, but Pa'Troll unlocks 4 quests when you
accept
it. This is crucial because you can do any/all of the 4 "sub-quests" and if you drop
Pa'Troll
and then pick it up again from Kunz,
ALL FOUR SUBQUESTS ARE AVAILABLE AGAIN!
This means that as long as you never complete Pa'Troll, you can continually do any combination of these four quests infinitely! This is how you are going to grind out massive Guild XP, by doing this over and over again.
Tactics for Optimization
To get the most out of this, you want to do the maximum number of quests in the least amount of time. Since you have to travel to each of the task/sub-quest givers, travel time needs to be factored along with the time it takes to complete the quest:
Captain Brandon
:
Something for the Pain
Brandon is 2nd closest to Kunz and while his quests is a gathering quest, it covers a relatively small area (broken into 4 quandrants) that never depletes. Consider visiting a different quadrant each visit instead of just going to the nearest one every time, you'll find more nodes faster that way.
Note that collecting the quest Items does not break Druid Flight Form
.
Captain Rupert
:
Throwing Down
Rupert is the furthest of the captains and his quest covers the smallest area. Note that you must break flight form to throw the bombs, which will get you into fights and thus slowing you down.
Captain Grondel
:
Creature Comforts
Grondel is the closest of the quest givers to the Argent Stand, but the quest area is by far the largest to cover and affected severely by fellow questers swiping your sticks. I recommend developing alternating search paths to allow sticks to respawn on one side while you harvest the other.
Note: does not break Druid Flight Form
Alchemist Finklestein
:
Lab Work
While not far from Kunz, Finklestein is rather far from all the other quest givers, furthermore, his quest takes too long to complete. I ignore this quest under all scenarios.
My bottom line is that I
never
do the alchemist's quest its just to far out of the way.
Druid vs. Everything Else
You may have noticed how I point out that two of the quests do no break flight form for druids. I find this to be the key to max XP grinding. I can make the trip from Kunz -> Grondel -> Brandon -> (drop Pa'Troll) -> Kunz (Pick up Pa'Troll) on average in 3 minutes. No fighting, no mount time, just travelling from quest to quest and doing the quests. Also, don't pay through the nose for MoP Blues just so that you can kill things quickly.
While other toons may have speed buffs, unless they assist with the 1.5 sec cast of collecting quest items, I can't see how they would offset the time taken to mount (1.5 seconds each time) and fighting mobs you agro so that you
*can*
mount.
Question Time!
Why not do this with the daily
Troll Patrol
which is the follow up to
Pa'Troll
?
-To be honest, I have not tested this, I do not know if the quest mechanics behave the same for the dailies. You used to only be allowed 25 dailies a day so that could've been a killer in the past, but I guess my big issue with it now is that the dailies are bit more random so you may not get an optimal set of quests. If anyone wants to experiment with this, I'll give them a gold star for their report.
Can I have an friend/alt account spam sharing Pa'Troll closer to where the sub-quests occur to save the time of flying back to Kunz?
-Pa'Troll cannot be shared, so no (believe me I tried).
Are you saying only do the Grondel and Brandon Quests?
-I'm saying my best result comes from doing just these two quests, throw in Rupert's and my round trip time all but doubles. I think this is optimal for a druid and I think druids have the advantage here. Again, feel free to show me alternatives.
By the Numbers
I'm going to use my average 3 minute round trip time for this. I've done this so many times I'm pretty confident that it is a reasonable value to work with, furthermore, it is a nice number for all the calculations I'll be using...
Round trip:
3 Minutes:
Kunz -> Grondel -> Brandon -> (drop Pa'Troll) -> Kunz (Pick up Pa'Troll)
At 2 quests/trip and 3 min/trip; I'm completing 40 quests every 60 minutes(!)
40 Quests * 60k Guild XP = 2,400k Guild XP/hour (i.e. 2.4 Million Guild XP/hour)
Assuming ability to maintain 3 minute round trip for sustained period... I can usually go a couple of hours before I
need
to get up and move...

Additional Benefits
You get gold for completing these quests, 1.58/quest * 40 Quests per hour = 63.20g/hour. Doesn't sound like much, I know, but you will net
22,272 gold
if you level your guild from 1 to 25! (352.4 hours * 63.2g = 22,271.68g)
You also get
Argent Crusade
rep, ~107.5/quest * 40 Quests per hour = ~4,300 rep/hour
Just trying to get exalted with an established guild? At 40 quests/hour * 166 rep/quest = 6640 rep/hr meaning you'd ding exalted in under six hours from this process alone. If you started a toon from scratch and leveled it in the guild this would be even faster...
Look, this is a little insane to do alone any way you look at it. If you know of a better way, hey I'm all ears, but if you're really want to power level your guild, I have not found a better way, especially since the /chicken trick was nerfed.

Sorry for the extra zero's, wasn't sure how else to line up the numbers...
Consider using a \ for this. For a simple solution you could use \ or \ boxes which use a fixed-width font.

Another math:
352 hours in total. Let's assume someone is crazy enough to do 2 quests again and again and again for 2 hours per day. That's 176 days, i.e. nearly 6 months, i.e. half a year of everyday grinding of those 2 quests.
I doubt anyone could keep sanity after this :-)
However, an interesting guide, I admit...

I know this guide is only +/- 6 months old (as I write this), but I was wondering if the method still works? I have a 73 Shammy who I could level to 82 in a few days and try this method. It's in my old bank guild and I just pushed my mage "bank toon/GM" from level 25 to 85 this past week (right before I read this and passed the break point!). On that toons leveling efforts alone the guild is well into level 3.
