Strategies
The key to a lot of these legendary encounters is surviving the duration of the
ability, which the main pet in all these encounters share. The other two pets are usually quite trivial if they do not have
active. This can involve a combination of forcing pet swaps and heavy use of defensive survival abilities. Unfortunately, some of these strategies do rely on very specific pets. Most of the pets should be easy to find and this guide will be updated with alternative pets to use if they are viable. I geared this guide to using capturable pets but sometimes drops were unavoidable.
Skrillix
: The comment that suggested using the
(with
, and
for dodge turns) and the
was very helpful in defeating this pet on live servers. Lots of heals were great and helped survive the duration of
.
Netherfist
: As with Skrillix, since they are both humanoids, I found Beast family pets with Undead abilities such as
, and
did the trick. Abilities like
and
helped survive the duration of
.
Bleakclaw
: This pet was one of the easier ones to defeat. A simple anti-flying comp of Dragonkin pets with Magic abilities, such as
, and
was successful. Abilities like
and
helped to wait out the
debuff. Bleakclaw is entirely soloable with the
.
Tainted Maulclaw
: Critters with
飞行
abilities and strong defenses worked well here, such as
,
is particularly strong here.
Defiled Earth
: This pet was reasonably difficult to defeat. Start with a pet with
to heal up from
地震
and to buff your
- I used a
. Finish the main pet with
, with
always up (refresh at 1 turn left on the buff) and
on CD. This should allows you to survive the next pet until the
buff is gone. Finish off the 2 pets with your
and a pet with good defenses (I used a Moth for
). I didn't end up using my 3rd pet at all when I killed this.
Dreadwalker
: This is where I had to start employing the tactic of swapping out the primary pet in order to game the
. A combination of swapping out the main pet and stuns and elemental abilities helped me defeat this one. I used:
for the
for the abilities to survive
, such as
and
and the
for the hard hitting stun and elemental abilities.
Vile Blood of Draenor
: For this pet and the next, I was aiming for a team of
机械
family pets with Dragonkin abilities but there is only one of those combinations! The old work horse,
, of course. To round out the team, I used 2 strong dragons with heals or avoidance like
. After the mechanical is dead, keep
up (refresh at 1 turn remaining) and
on cooldown. If you can survive the Gazer and outlast the buff on the second bet, the
血喙
, you can use the easily use the
for the next two pets without having to use your third pet.
Dark Gazer
: I ended up having to employ the
strat here, using
to reduce the number of times
gets cast. I started with the
and used him to swap out the Dark Gazer, then used kill the first secondary pet. Swapped the Dark Gazer back out with the Imp and then killed the 2nd secondary pet with the
. By using
and
liberally, killing the Dark Gazer itself was simple with
.
Mirecroak
:
魔法
pets with
飞行
abilities and good defenses would be ideal to easily kill this team but that combination is hard to come by. I was able to beat this team with
+ any 2 Moths with
.
Direflame
灾火
: Start with a hard hitting aquatic to take some chunks out of the main pet - I used
but any pet with
沐血
is great here. I finished off Direflame with the
, keeping
up and
on cooldown. Finish off the team with a pet with a block (I used a
with
气泡
for insurance.)
Felfly
: There are lots of
飞行
pets with
魔法
abilities you can use to defeat this team but aim for ones with blocks, dodges, or stuns. Some choices are:
with
, and the
with
.
Cursed Spirit
: This was by far the most difficult pet of the 15 I encountered in Tanaan Jungle. I ended up using:
赞达拉啮趾者
with
,
, and
侧击
. I moved onto a pet with very strong defenses, the
. Despite being a Humanoid pet against an Undead pet, keeping up
and timing
to counter the application of
was tremendous against this pet. I finished with
, using
until the last pet was swapped in and then finished it off with
.
Chaos Pup
: Another straightforward pet, easily beaten by
飞行
pets with
机械
abilities such as the
with
, and
). I ended up using pets with hard hitting Magic abilities to counter the 2nd two pets - ended up 2 petting this team with
with
and
群殴
and
.
Corrupted Thundertail
: I was looking for
魔法
pets with
机械
abilities but had to employ the swapping out strat for this pet, and even had to double up on the swapping this time around. I used
with
横扫
,
with
, and the
with
to finish off the rest of the team. I used the Imp first and kept swapping on cooldown so
gets cast as infrequently as possible.
Felsworn Sentry
: Another team where hard hitting mechanical abilities paired with good defenses worked well. In addition, I was looking for pets that reduced healing on their opponent due to this pet's
修复
. I actually found this quite difficult to counter, but I went with
with
, and the
. You can replace the hard-to-acquire Shalin with the slightly easier to aquire
who has
which reduces healing taken as well.

Every one of these fights are easily beaten with Howl Bomb + Emerald Proto Whelp
Water Spirit > Geyser, Whirlpool
swap
Chrominius > Howl, Surge of Power
mop up with Whelp, heal when needed, keep buff up

I think this guide needs to be updated since patch is live. Almost every single one of your pet recommendations do not work with defeating the legendary like it says it would.
I'm finding the map of the pet locations much more useful then the battle guide.
For reference, Pandaren Water Spirit + Chrominius Combo with a tank (Chi-Chi, Emerald Whelp, etc.) to outlast the buff seems to work on pretty much every fight. :)

On Felsworn Sentry I found Giant Sewer Rat (poison fang + stampede) + Frostfur Rat (refuge + call darkness) very effective. They both take weak damage from all the attacks (and you can even block some with Refuge), Call Darkness blocks the healing and Poison Fang ticks for 200+ every round alone.

For Felfly, there's no reason to restrict yourself to flying pets. The attacks from the team are strong against aquatic, so just use straight up magic pets. My Ethereal Soul-Trader got the Felfly down by himself and an oily slimeling took down the other two.

Some of the strategies suggested on this guide didn't work well at all for me. Here are my suggestions for the pets I have faced. I'll probably try to update this with more as I go through them
All: An Emerald Proto-Whelp as your third pet, with Emerald Presence and Emerald Dream, can stabilize from very low hp and finish off the last two pets in the encounter with minimal risk and trouble. If you can defeat the boss pet in two of yours, you are on the road to success.
Skrillix: Bring undead damage hard and fast -- he'll dodge on cooldown and will almost assuredly be faster than you so make the most of the turns you have. I brought Sister of Temptation (with Shadow Shock, Curse of Doom, and her heal song for dodge turns) and Fossilized Hatchling (Bone Bite and Ancient Blessing were the only relevant moves.)
Netherfist: Soundly defeated by a Sister of Temptation with Shadow Shock, Curse of Doom, and the heal move, but you have to put some faith in the RNG on Haymakers, though I suppose the worst that could happen would have been utilizing the Fossilized Hatchling second pet on what was intended to be used on. RELIABLY defeated by Macabre Marionette into Fossilized Hatchling -- just use Dead Man's Party, and he will die even if he never misses a haymaker.
Bleakclaw: Dies gloriously to Nexus Whelpling and any other magic-using dragonkin (keep the Emerald Proto-Whelp in reserve, though!)
Tainted Maulclaw: Again, dealing more damage to the enemy was key. I had a pretty poor selection of Level 25 Fliers, so it was the Skywisp Moth (Reckless Strike - Counterspell - Moth Dust) and Crow (Peck - Call Darkness - Nocturnal Strike) for me.
Dreadwalker: Honestly, he's not too tough. Just kill him with elemental damage. Any Burn/Conflagrate rotation should do it, but I used Hatespark the Tiny who also took advantage of Deep Burn, followed by the Phoenix Hatchling.
Vile Blood of Draenor & Dark Gazer: Lil' Deathwing was an all-star for these fights (Elementium Bolt and Tail Sweep), but the Infinite Whelpling was also an amazing call! Sleeping Gas will kill them surprisingly swiftly, though you're leaving it up to the RNG on whether or not you'll get the sleep turn or two to really manage the kill. I usually lead with the Infinite Whelpling so it gets more turns to ramp the damage of Sleeping Gas, into Lil' Deathwing to finish it if necessary.
Mirecroak: Succumbed to the same strategy as the Maulclaw, but he was a bit harder thanks to Frog Kiss throwing in a more random element. Remember, Frog Kiss increases in damage the longer the fight drags out. Throw everything you've got into burst flying damage, even if it means having Darkness up when the proto-whelp takes the field. This is somewhat easier when the Skywisp Moth actually puts it to sleep with Moth Dust.
Direflame: Rip into Blood in the Water is, in fact, a great call. I used it off an Electrified Razortooth, but any crocolisk should do fine. For my second pet, I brought out Gahz'rooki (Whirlpool, Swallow you whole)
Felfly: The old standby Nexus Whelpling came in handy here. Turns out elite pets still don't like weather-empowered mana surges to the face. Lil' Tarecgosa was my second, but any blue or green dragonkin or anything else with mana surge should do the trick
Cursed Spirit: This one was tough. What finally got it was bringing out a frog and using Swarm of Flies and Tongue Lash (even being slower than it) to build critter damage alongside a Frostfur Rat with Call Darkness, Sneak Attack, and Refuge.

For most of these fights I've been winning with 2 pets that counter it and Blossoming Ancient (2,2,2)
Just use the two pets (maybe one in some cases) to kill the legendary and then switch to blossoming ancient. Cast regrowth, then sunny weather and spam the attack that gives you dmg reduction. this pet will literally never die. except for mirecroc which deals water aoe dmg.

Worth noting that some of those pets come with rare secondary pet (always same setup) making for relatively easy way to farm "capture xx rare pets" achievements.

You may want to change the "Each NPC pet can be defeated once per day for a bag of Fel-Touched Pet Supplies" to "Each NPC pet can be defeated by each of your charcters once per day for a bag of Fel-Touched Pet Supplies"
Nice that the fights are per character and not account wide like the trainers.

Anyone have any idea why this is?

HazelnuttyGames suggested
Ikky
for the Tainted Maulclaw, and it worked brilliantly. Mopping up the secondaries was a breeze after that.

So the BEST thing you can do is use the Molten Corgi from the wow anniversary. He is faster than almost ALL of the legendary pets and you can just bark him out on the first turn (use inferno Herding) and pwn the back 2 pets like its a joke. So far this has worked for me and I kill all the pets with no sweat. Just make sure the other 2 are built for the legendary pet and sleep through the rest.

For those that have a macro addon to extend macro length (Macro Toolkit or Super Duper Macro), here's a macro to track all 15 pet dailies:
/run for k,v in pairs({Felsworn_Sentry=39157, Corrupted_Thundertail=39160, Chaos_Pup=39161, Cursed_Spirit=39162, Felfly=39163, Tainted_Maulclaw=39164, Direflame=39165, Mirecroak=39166, Dark_Gazer=39167, Bleakclaw=39168, Vileblood_of_Draenor=39169, Dreadwalker=39170, Netherfist=39171, Skrillix=39172, Defiled_Earth=39173}) do print(format("%s: %s", k, IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(v) and "\124cFF00FF00Completed\124r" or "\124cFFFF0000Not completed yet\124r")) end

So, I’ve been doing all 15 battles each day - trying a few variants, and I found a nice pair that works on at least 10 out of the 15, with slight variations on the theme to conquer the other five.
My primary group consists of the following:
Ikky
(1, 1, 1)
infinite Whelping
(2, 1, 1 (last one is optional))
Flamering Moth
(2, 2. 2)
The trick behind this team is to have Ikky upfront a TON of damage using Black Claw/Flock x3). On some fights Ikky can only get 2 rounds of flock off, but that’s OK as the primary target will be severely wounded by then. If Ikky manages to survie the first Fel creature - than immediately try to keep Black Claw/Flock on the next pets. Even if Ikky dies, the subsequent debuffs can be LETHAL via the Flamering Moth’s alpha-strikes if they’re still up on the del-tainted creatures.
If Ikky doesn’t finish them off already, I tend to start via the Infinite whelping. The two key attacks here are his sleeping gas and healing. Generally i hit heal first as usually I get punted into the second wave of felfire. From this point - try to lay on the sleeping gas as much as possible. Putting anybody to sleep buys you an extra 2 rounds of delay/surviability/first attacks. Sleep gas is VERY useful when dealing with the back pets as well as you want to wear them down to the point where the fel buff wears off.
The remaining pet is the Flamering moth, and again keeping healing flame on and moth dust will help to sometimes put to sleep and keep you around long enough for the fel buff to wear off.
Fights this works with are the following:
Defiled Earth
Dark Gazer
Netherfist
Cursed Spirit
(he will kill Ikky during his death-move)
Mirecroak
(can sometimes turn Ikky to a toad. Just surrender, heal, and re-start if so)
Vile Blood
Tainted Mudclaw
Corrupted thunder tail
(will not work if he crits Ikky once. Just leave and re-heal.)
Felfly
Bleakclaw
(I fight with the Infinite Whelping first - as he’s strong against the attacks,)
Dreadwalker
(this is the toughest that is subject to a lot of RNG, particularly the infinite sleeps. may want to look for a better combo, like the Water Spirit/Chrominius)
Variant on this theme are the following:
Chaos Pup
(Swap out first pet for an Iron Starlet. Windup/supercharge/winedup kills the pup in 1 hit)
Skrillix
Direflame
Felsworn Sentry
(Both of these I replace the first two pets with a Pandaren Water Spirit/Fjiord pup. I do NOT use Chrominius as the beam is overkill and would rather use the speed-enchance move. Just do the classic spout, whirlpool, swap, howl combo to instant-kill Direflame and nearly kill Skrillix. Mop up with the rest)

I'm surprise that no one has mention Zandalari Anklerender here. He can solo most of the legendary pet in Tanaan Jungle. You just have to figure out who your 2nd and 3rd pet is.
1. Use black claw
2. Use hunting party
3. Legendary pet is dead. Finish up

Or you can just use the infinite whelpling and whatever other carries you want
Sleeping Gas, Healing Flames, Early Advantage.
Was able to kill all pets with just him.

A backline pet that has yet to fail me on
any
of the tannan terrors when using the howl bomb strategy is the Teroclaw hatchling. a pet that is pretty easy to get. Use 2-2-2. He can clear any remaining pets. So when howl bomb kills main and it dies, bring in hatchling. Throw up dodge, the natures ward, and alpha strike away, using dodge on CD and keep the healing up. Unlike Emerald proto, he can attack when he is healing, he is faster than any backline pet I've come across, so even if you bring him in with the main casting double fel damage, a dodge and a heal gives you two rounds of healing with no dmg to recuperate because he goes first when replacing the dead "howler". He makes short work of the rare fen crab that appears and his dodge helps reduce dmg/stun of moth dust sleep. You're still healing even if the dust hits and stuns because dodge is on CD.

Unborn Valkyr-placed doom then haunt-switch pet
Dancing water skimmer-cleanse-switch pet
Crawdad-Wish-Shield-Surge. Refresh shield at 1-use Wish on CD
Brought the Val back in for another doom and haunt and still had enough life in her for second pet doom.

now that the water spirit dont work as well as it did befor the patch you can still beat them easy with this pets
ikky unborn val'kyr and zandalari anklerender in the first slot and chrominius emerald proto-whelp in the other two.
for direflame and skrillix use unborn val'kyr: chrominius and emerald proto-whelp
firls curse of doom>shadow slashx2>unholy ascension>howl then just finish the pets off
forfelsworn sentry use zandalari anklerender: chrominius and emerald proto-whelp
first primal cry> black claw>hunting party then just finish the pets off
for all the rest you can use ikky: chrominius and emerald proto-whelp
first black claw then flock then just finish of the pets
this works with no problem for me atleast

I'm going to explain how to faceroll these with 4 total pets in 7.0.3. This is intended to be dead simple; there's some RNG dependence, but that's expected when running a faceroll group through Tanaan.
Pets Required
(2/1/2)
An S/B or S/S Rabbit (2/2/2)
A pet with Black Claw and Stampede or equivalent (Flock or Hunting Party): examples include an upgraded (rare)
(2/1/1),
(2/2/X), etc.
Usual Group/Strat
(Except where noted below)
(2/2/1); S/B or S/S Rabbit (2/2/2);
(2/1/2), in that order.
Open with
: Curse of Doom, then Haunt. Fill with Shadow Shock vs. guaranteed or expected misses.
Switch to your rabbit. Use Dodge, then Stampede, then Flurry. Keep Dodge on cooldown.
Switch to your whelpling. Heal spam until the enemy team's buff expires, then proceed as with a normal battle.
Alternate Group/Strat
(Mirecroak, Tainted Maulclaw, and optionally Chaos Pup)
Black Claw pet; S/B or S/S Rabbit (2/2/2);
(2/1/2), in that order.
Mirecroak: Use your Black Claw pet, your rabbit, and
, in that order. Open with Black Claw and your stampede-type ability. If you're polymorphed midway through, it's a wash -- flee, bandage, and restart.
Tainted Maulclaw: Use your Black Claw pet, your rabbit, and
, in that order. Open with Black Claw, then your stampede-type ability; that should kill Tainted Maulclaw. Use Primal Cry, then spam Black Claw until your
dies. Bring in the rabbit, then Dodge, Stampede, Flurry, and keep Dodge on cooldown. The rabbit should die almost when the fel buff ends.
Chaos Pup: This group works vs. Chaos Pup, but it's a wash if it crits your first pet. Open with Black Claw, then your stampede-type ability.Otherwise, bring in the rabbit, Dodge, Stampede, Flurry, and keep Dodge on cooldown.
Victory Rate
: Expect 85-90%. You'll occasionally lose to terrible RNG, moreso with one or two really annoying add combos (e.g. the two blue crabs = bad).

You can down the Corrupted Thundertail with just one pet -- Ninja breed Cogblade Raptor (2,2,1). Use Exposed Wounds on the first turn, then Batter until it dies.
If it happens to get off a crit and your Cogblade dies before it does, the Emerald Proto-Drake that does wonders in pretty much every battle can clean up after.
Cogblade Raptor is really under-appreciated in pet battles, but very useful!
