Welcome to Wowhead's information hub for Diablo Immortal, the new mobile and PC installment in the Diablo franchise. Blizzard described Immortal this way: "Diablo® Immortal™ is a full-fledged Blizzard quality mobile MMO ARPG Diablo experience that you can take with you anywhere. It features gorgeous visuals, persistent online play, new environments, Legendary loot and the quintessential Diablo combat players want. Diablo Immortal is a AAA, high-fidelity, full-featured, and uncompromising demon-slaying experience that you can play alone or with others."
In addition to being a fully mobile game, it was announced on April 25, 2022 that Diablo Immortal would also be supported on PC.
This incarnation maintains the classic isometric ARPG style that Diablo veteran players should be familiar with but on a mobile platform. Six customizable classes similar to those of Diablo 3 will be available for players to adventure through an untold chapter of the Diablo saga complete with unique zones, world events, and dungeons. Players will search for the fragments of the shattered corrupted Worldstone before the minions of hell can harness them to bring about the return of the Lord of Terror, Diablo.
As usual pre-release, this information is currently based Alpha and Beta play, press releases, developer interviews, and other sources. It's all subject to change as we learn more; it's also usual for games to go through a number of hotfixes and updates shortly after release. This information may change going forward.

Not Yet Available for Nintendo Switch
No further comments about Diablo Immortal on Nintendo Switch have been made, but with the recent Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Phil Spencer has repeatedly communicated by tweet and interviews his intent to bring Activision Blizzard games to the Nintendo Switch and committed to keeping current games in the PlayStation ecosystem.
This CNBC
interview
signals the intent of bringing Activision Blizzard games to the Xbox Game Pass which includes mobile, PC and console games playable in all platforms. It remains to be seen what Microsoft's plan is for Blizzard's Diablo Immortal, Warcraft mobile and future mobile games. But the interest in bringing Blizzard games to the Nintendo Switch is abundant as per this statement.
Focus at Microsoft and our acquisition of Activision Blizzard will have more first party titles, but what we are really focused on doing as well is creating what we call a new universal app store. An app store that will enable any gamer on any device to access, download and use any app.
So it will work on mobile, it will work on consoles, it will work on PC. It will really bring new opportunities to people who create games and people who play them.
We'd like to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo devices. We'd like to bring the other popular titles that Activision Blizzard has, and ensure that they continue to be available on PlayStation, and that they become available on Nintendo.
The Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard is slated to complete its FTC approval by July 2023.

The Lieutenant of Diablo himself, Skarn, is on a quest to gather the shattered pieces of the corrupted Worldstone and bring Sanctuary to its knees. With Tyrael presumed dead, players will partner with new and familiar characters in an expansive journey through 8 unique zones to gather the shards first.
Lore and Story of Diablo Immortal
At the end of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, players defeated Baal, but not before the Lord of Destruction corrupted the Worldstone at Mount Arreat. Originally, the demon Lilith and the angel Inarius used the Worldstone to create the world of Sanctuary and protect their new world from the invasion of Heaven and Hell. Additionally, the Worldstone had the ability to dampen the power of mankind preventing them from becoming more powerful than angels and demons.
While it's speculated that the Greater Evils wanted to corrupt the Worldstone in order to invade Sanctuary en masse or even to subjugate mankind to their will, Baal's corruption of the sacred Worldstone did not bode well for Sanctuary and its mortal inhabitants. As such, Tyrael, Archangel of Justice, shattered the Worldstone with his blade El'druin in an attempt to thwart the Greater Evils' plans.
Now five years after the destruction of the Worldstone, the Archangel Tyrael is presumed dead, and mankind is left to deal with the aftermath of his actions. Mount Arreat is nothing but a crater and scattered fragments of the corrupted Worldstone taint the land, bringing forth ancient evils who are looking to harvest the stone’s power and use it to control humanity.
The demon known as Skarn, Herald of Terror—once Diablo’s most powerful lieutenant—is rallying a new demonic army. Skarn intends to gather the fragments of the corrupted Worldstone and use them to resurrect Diablo, reigniting the Eternal Conflict between angels and demons. Players will race against the forces of Hell to find and destroy the Worldstone fragments before they can be used against mankind.
Skarn, Herald of Terror

The World of Sanctuary
The Diablo series has continually tried to push the boundaries of world building and Diablo Immortal is no exception. In Diablo Immortal, players will continue to explore the world of Sanctuary as players search for the corrupted Worldstone fragments. Several zones will be familiar to those who've played other games in the franchise, while others will be completely new and unexplored areas.
Public Central City Hub & Eight Unique Zones
Diablo Immortal draws players into the grim and intense world of Sanctuary—a bleak and shattered hellscape bereft of hope and beset by demons.
Westmarch
- Explore the sprawling streets of Westmarch in a time before Malthael devastated the bustling city. Westmarch will act as the player central hub for access to vendors, crafting, stash, and all your adventuring needs. In addition, you'll be able to see other players in Westmarch as a shared public zone.
An Expansive World
: Traverse 8 distinct and shared zones of
Sanctuary
rooted in unique ecologies and filled with dangerous new foes.
Wortham
- Those familiar with Diablo III might remember Wortham as the westerly neighbor of New Tristram, set ablaze by Maghda in the early story. The adventure of Diablo Immortal starts in this cozy small town. Players will arrive on the docks and journey through a corrupted forest to the town center and its familiar church as they begin their search for the Worldstone fragments.
Ashwold Cemetary
- Near the birthplace of Queen Asylla, Ashwold Cemetery is where her remains were interred after her death at the hands of her maddened husband, King Leoric. Journey through the crypts and ancient manor, face off against the rampaging undead, and—if you're lucky—encounter the Haunted Carriage traveling across the cemetery.
Dark Wood
- Last explored in Diablo II, the Dark Wood has grown increasingly dangerous in the intervening years. A forgotten evil is returning to strength within the shadowed forest, ready to challenge those who might dare tread within.
Library of Zoltun Kulle
- Unlike the archives of Zoltun Kulle from Diablo III, we enter another repository of the famed Horadrim found in the deserts of Kehjistan. Within the library lies ancient Horadric artifacts and secrets. A magical copy of Zoltun Kulle curates the library. Delve into its depths for its secrets and search for ancient Horadric knowledge on how to destroy the corrupted Worldstone shards.
Bilefen
- Near Port Justinian lies the murky area of the Bilefen completely infested by fetish monsters, bog lurkers, and everything in between. These evil denizens are making it difficult to travelers coming in and out of the port.
Mount Zavain
- These rocky and treacherous mountains are home to lush woodlands as well as house a Monk Monastery and an ancient Zakarum outposts. Khazra and Cultists pose a threat to anyone daring to venture through its dangerous roads.
Shassar Sea
- In the far east of Eastern Kehjistan, we travel to the Shassar Sea where a demon nest has formed. Here we'll find help of the Demon Hunter Valla and her master Josen as we try to rid the area of the demon infestation. The Amber Blades organization led by Tabri seeks to restore the golden age of Shassar Sea by acquiring the three pieces of the Scepter of Fahir. Help them secure this artifact in exchange of safe passage to the Library of Zoltun Kulle. No easy task. You must face dangerous wildlife, Lacuni and thieves as you explore ancient tombs and ruins in search of each scepter piece.
Frozen Tundra
- The Frozen Tundra is the remains of the once great Mount Arreat, left a frozen crater after the Worldstone's destruction. This scar is all that remains as the surviving Barbarian clans struggle to survive in this harsh frigid land. You will chase a madman into these lands in order to stop his quest to trade the fourth corrupted Worldstone shard with Skarn, the Lord of Damnation. The trail leads you to the Ruins of Sescheron where Baal's forces continue to pose a threat. As the story progresses, you have no other option but to venture into the Cavern of Echoes in search of a powerful item that allows the bearer to enter the realm of the death.
Monsters
As always, Diablo Immortal will feature brand new monsters to face as well as some returning favorites with an updated design and new ways to kill players. Several choice demons from Diablo II, like the sickening beasts known as Vile Mothers—complete with their razor sharp claws and deadly spawn; Khazra, Undead, Lacuni, Cultists, Baal's minions, Quill Rats, Treasure Goblins, Fetishes —and many other familiar and all-new enemies will come to life in Diablo Immortal.
As a small teaser at the end of the Gameplay trailer, Baal was shown in some capacity, possibly as a potential returning villain of the game in addition to Skarn, Herald of Terror.
Seven Instanced Dungeons
In addition to the eight shared outdoor zones, Diablo Immortal will come with seven instanced dungeons. The instanced dungeons will allow up to 4 players to have a more intimate combat experience complete with dangerous minions of hell and bountiful loot. While enemies respawn in the outdoor zones, enemies will not respawn in instanced dungeons until the instance has been completed and reset by the party.
Instance Dungeons
: Traverse 7 instanced dungeons found in one of the eight zones of
Sanctuary
found in Diablo Immortal.
Mad King's Breach
- Xul's apprentice, Lethes, is in possession of the first corrupted Worldstone shard. She seeks to harness the power of the Skeleton King to rule the dead. Venture into the breach and put an end to the Skeleton King before she claims his soul.
Forgotten Tower
- Once home to the Countess of Diablo II, a twisted cult has taken up residence of the Forgotten Tower. Through a blood ritual they've resurrected the Countess who now reigns over Dark Wood.
Tomb of Fahir
- Plunge the depths of the Tomb of Fahir, a former disciple of Akarat. You'll need to combat spiders, zombies, and mummies engulfed in flames if you hope to find the treasure room found within. Adventurers must face King Fahir and his pet Segithis to retrieve the Scepter of Fahir for Tabri, leader of the Amber Blades in the Shassar Sea.
Destruction's End
- Helping Kulle's Curator restore the Library's defenses allows players to enter the archives where you peek into the story of Tal Rasha and Zoltun Kulle's mission to bind Baal into a soulstone. This vision reveals the secret knowledge that Deckard Cain seeks in order to destroy the corrupted Worldstone shards.
Kikuras Rapids
- The Kikuras Rapids, deep within the Bilefen, this river sneaks its way through a jungle brimming with monstrosities. From bug lurkers, to the swamp fetishes, it'll take a lot to avoid a murky and water grave as you try to stay alive on a rickety wooden raft that snakes down the river. Retrieve the stolen relic from Chieftain Ongori, if you can survive the experience.
Cavern of Echoes
- Deep in the frozen wastes of the Frozen Tundra, adventurers must brave the chilling corridors of this dungeon and face perilous Yetis and monsters in search of an ancient item sought by the Umbaru for ages... One of the fabled seven stones. This relic allows the bearer to enter the realm of Death, but to acquire it, you must defeat its keeper: the Guardian Colossus.
And many more to come...
Endgame
While it's suggested that Instanced Dungeons will play a role in the endgame of Diablo Immortal, Blizzard has announced that Challenge Rifts and an updated Paragon system will be part of the endgame as well.
In the Closed Beta Learnings
blogpost
published on Feb 23, 2022, Wyatt revealed plans for Helliquary raid-bosses:
We’re excited to see many of you enjoying the Helliquary—massive 8-player raid boss encounters that demand extra coordination to overcome.
Our intention is to release one new Helliquary boss every month, but in order to provide more granularity and a better sense of progression, we are going to also provide multiple difficulty levels for each boss.
In addition, there will be seasonal events that last two weeks or longer that provide additional Shop item and rewards.
Equipment & Itemization
Gear
All classes have a total of 12 equipment slots, divided into two categories: Primary equipment and Secondary equipment. All of them can equip Magic items (blue) and Rare Items (yellow). The primary equipment slots may contain Legendary Items: head, shoulder, torso, legs, weapon and offhand. The secondary equipment slots may contain Set Items.
Charms
In addition, there is a single Charm slot. Charms can be acquired from the Battle Pass and may be upgraded, extracted or imbued at the Charm Craftsman in Westmarch. Charms may contain up to five Skills with a random chance to roll Rank +1-10. Increasing a Skill rank increases the damage value of your skills.
Gems
Diablo Immortal characters can acquire gems in a number of ways: they can drop from monsters or be found in chests, be crafted and upgraded, or be purchased from a vendor. Gems are socketed into equipment, as in previous Diablo franchises, to enhance your character's power.
Rare items have a chance to contain a slot for a regular gem, which will increase one of your character's attributes depending on the color of the gem you choose. Legendary items contain a slot for a legendary gem, which has the potential to significantly change and improve one of your abilities.
Legendary Items
Legendary items are a primary progression system for Diablo Immortal. Legendary Items have a chance to drop from several sources in the world of Sanctuary:
Treasure Chests
Horadric Altar (Bestiary)
Battle Pass
First Kill of the Day
Normal mobs
Rare Elites
Orange Rare Elites (50% drop chance)
Dungeon Bosses
Helliquary Raid Bosses
PvP Faction Vault rewards
Hidden Lairs
Elder Rifts
Challenge Rifts
Challenge Rift rewards (every 5 levels completed)
Zone Events
Seasonal Event rewards
Seasonal Event Shop
Hilt Vendor
Rare and Antiquities (Gambler)
New Legendary items carry the potential to completely reimagine the powerful skills your character has at their disposal. Change how a skill targets enemies, channel new elemental energy types, or even add entirely new effects through an astonishing array of awesome armaments.
Those who are familiar with Diablo III, may recognize that Legendary Items behave like the Runes system, except their essence powers are built-in into the Legendary Items. There is also the Essence Transfer Vendor where you may store the essence power permanently to switch your Legendary Items in a similar fashion as you can do in the Diablo III's Kanai Cube.
Here are some examples for the Necromancer's Torso Legendary Items:
The Inviting Tomb legendary item changes your Bone Wall skill into a circular wall of bones that traps enemies within and blocks the path of those behind as well.
The Ever-Grasping Vestments legendary item changes your Bone Wall skill into a line of skeletal soldiers that run in the direction commanded dealing damage to enemies hit by your skeletal soldiers and knocking them back. Great in PvP and PvE situations. These also block incoming projectiles from monsters and bosses. Standing in position, any enemies touching the wall also get damaged continuously for the duration of the skeletal soldiers remain static on the battlefield.
The Exhumant's Backbone legendary item changes your Bone Wall skill to instead summon a pillar of rotting corpses from the ground, immediately knocking enemies into the air, and leaving an acid pool on the ground that slows down and damages enemies while they remain in the area.
The Covet Nothing legendary item changes your Bone Armor skill into a continuous AOE storm that protects you, your minions and allies, and damages enemies per ally for its duration. This is the equivalent of a temporary Thorns damage.
The Flickering Warmth legendary item changes your Bone Armor skill into 3 bone daggers that rotate around you dealing 2284 (4503+ critical) damage to all enemies hit by each bone dagger. Paladin Blessed Hammer on a Necromancer that lasts 9 seconds? Not so bad for a 20 second cooldown skill.
Additional Modes and Features
In addition to all the content featured in Diablo Immortal, Blizzard clarified questions about the inclusion of more modes for Diablo Immortal that have become mainstays in many modern ARPGs.
Hardcore
Hardcore, the mode where once your character dies they're actually dead, no respawning, is not currently planned for Diablo Immortal. They're not certain that the mode works for the mobile platform, but will still be iterating on that decision.
PvP
PvP is an integral part of Diablo Immortal. Players unlock PvP at level 42 when the quest pops onscreen requesting your presence at Cain's Workshop. Cain gives you a mysterious letter that takes you through a questline that unlocks access to joining the Shadows faction. After learning the story of the Shadows and the Immortals factions you decide whether to remain an Adventurer or to join the Shadows. Players can also be invited to join the Immortals by one of their members, but there is limited membership. The Shadows faction has an opportunity to dethrone the Immortals. The highest ranking Dark House may ascend to become the new Immortals.
PvP takes place in the Battlegrounds every day at 8am, 12pm, 6pm and 10pm server time for two hours. For each Battleground you participate in, you earn ratings to increase your Battleground Rank starting at Bronze I. Earn rewards such as Gold, XP and other items per match and rank up for a position in the Leaderboards.
Combatants on the Battleground have simple paths to victory.
Over three stages, attackers attempt to destroy the Ancient Heart, winning if they succeed.
Defenders attempt to block attackers from their objective until time elapses.
Participation in the Battleground grants rewards and -- to the Immortals and Shadows -- preparedness for the Rite of Exile.
The Battleground is how Immortals prepare to defend their Reign and their crown. When the Shadows bring their acussations and blades to the Rite of Exile, you must be ready.
At the end of the week, if the Shadows are ready to challenge the Immortals the Rite of Exile sets the mood for a clash between both factions in several group matches. If the Shadows are victorious, a select group of players earn the right to fight the Immortal leader for a chance to dethrone him/her. If defeated, the highest ranking Dark House becomes the new Immortals, and its Dark House leader becomes the new Immortal Leader.
Post-Launch Content
Diablo Immortal is planned from the ground up for ongoing content and events. After launch, expect continued support and regular content updates including balance changes, new zones, dungeons, bosses, loot, additional stories, and even new classes!
Offline Mode
Offline Mode will not be supported with Diablo Immortal. It will require an active internet/mobile network connection.
Social Features
Clans and Warbands
Clans will be available for players to join to help facilitate playing with your friends. These can be as big as 150 members.
After Beta ended, Wyatt Cheng
posted
a Beta Learnings blogpost where he revealed a big Cycle of Strife overhaul where PvP is not centered around Shadows' Dark Houses -- because that led to groups of friends splitting after disbanding back into Adventurers.
Now the Cycle of Strife revolves around Clans so that at the end of the Cycle of Strife and the Rite of Exile, all friends stay together in the Clan where they revert together to Adventurers or ascend together as Immortals, or may join the Shadows together as a Clan.
The core structure of the Cycle of Strife will no longer revolve around Dark Houses and a final Immortal group. Instead, the Cycle of Strife will be based on Clans competing with one another. To enrich the social experience, we’re empowering your Clan with the ability to become a Dark Clan. Forming Dark Houses wasn’t very good for long-term social relationships; when every end of a cycle occurred, it caused a jarring upheaval to your social system and network of players. Now, after a player's clan is made, that clan’s members will join the Shadows together. If that player’s Dark Clan succeeds in besting the other Dark Clans and overthrowing the Immortals, then that winning Dark Clan will become the Immortal Clan. Players in an Immortal Clan will stay together as a unit and can invite up to two other Dark Clans to become Immortal Allied Clans. When the Immortals’ reign ends, as all reigns must, the Immortal Clan will return to being a normal Clan as the Cycle begins anew. This new design gives Clans more meaning and allows you to form long-term friendships with other players.
Warbands, on the other hand, is meant for groups of 4 friends who want to play together to complete activities; or even groups of players who want to completely ignore PvP and focus on PvE activities only. Up to your group of friends.
Multiplayer
Players can play with their friends in 4-player parties to faces the challenges of Diablo Immortal.

Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “With their incredible passion for Diablo and proven mobile expertise, the development team has spawned an ultra-responsive and breathtakingly beautiful mobile game, and we can’t wait for players to get their hands on it.”
The transition from mouse-and-keyboard or controller to mobile touchscreen device was designed to feel completely natural, intuitive, and fun in Diablo Immortal.
Directional controls
make it easy to move heroes around the world, and activating a skill is as easy as holding a thumb down on a skill to aim, then releasing it to unleash hell on your foes. And reinforcements are always only a tap away thanks to the
native Blizzard Battle.net® UI
designed specifically for Diablo Immortal, which allows you to chat and form groups with ease in the middle of the most frantic battle.
This new chapter of the blockbuster Diablo saga takes place
between the end of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction® and the beginning of Diablo III
. Leading the invasion of Sanctuary is the demon known as
Skarn, Herald of Terror
—Diablo’s most powerful lieutenant—who now rallies a new demonic army. Skarn intends to gather the fragments of the corrupted Worldstone and use them to resurrect Diablo.
