Welcome to Wowhead's Fury Warrior Arena PvP Guide, up to date for 9.2! In this section of the guide, we cover effective strategies for Fury Warriors in PvP, including avoiding snares, rage management, and some common mistakes that Fury Warriors make (so that you can avoid making them yourself). Strategy is crucial for winning arenas, so knowing how to use your utility will prove useful. We also cover ideal rotations for Fury Warriors in PvP, such as a basic single damage rotation, burst damage rotation, and multi-target rotation. Although PvP isn't necessarily rotation-based, it is useful to know how to output as much damage as you can (when it is possible to do so).

Important Cooldowns for Spec Class in PvP
Offensive
鲁莽
鲁莽
is your most powerful offensive cooldown, mainly giving you extra Rage generation, allowing for more frequent use of
暴怒
, stacking
屠宰场
with more ease. As such, you want to make sure you have as much uptime with it as possible to increase the effect of this cooldown. Forcing defensive cooldowns with this ability is fine mostly, but when against Hunters, be mindful of
牺牲咆哮
as this ability will nerf the Critical Strike aspect of your
鲁莽
.

Having a low cooldown, this ability can be quite powerful both passively and for burst pressure. When bursting, be sure to incorporate

with it to guarantee the most amount of burst damage possible. They have the same cooldown and it's nice to pair together in order to build your pressure!

also pairs nicely with
破城者
, being on the same cooldown. As such you will ideally always use the 2 together, making sure you have the
破城者
debuff up on your target first, to increase the pressure of
巨龙怒吼
. It is a short AoE spell, so make sure you don't accidently break nearby CC!

风暴之锤
is excellent for allowing you to lock down a target and burst them down by yourself or with your teammates! Typically when using this offensively you'll use it on your kill target. It's a good time to pop
鲁莽
if you're sure to force big defensive cooldowns or if you could potentially land a kill. You could also use it as a form of crowd control on enemy healers to stop their heals from going off!

Even though you may not pick
死亡之愿
often, it's important you know how to maximize it's potential for when you do play it. Simply using it as an active buffer towards your damage, on cooldown as much as possible, will result in the quickest way to gain stacks and have the most amount of damage. Allowing it to fall off may be your best course of action if the enemy team start to punish your use of it, as you will take a
serious
amount of extra pressure if at high stacks.
That being said, you don't have to always gun for 10 stacks of
死亡之愿
. You could simply allow for 2-3 stacks when being targeted, if you're not taking a high amount of pressure. Then being wise with your stacks, you can increase them or drop them off at a lower amount of stacks, depending if you're being pressured.

Whilst this can be used as a utility cooldown, most of the time you'll want to be using it for pressure if you're playing with

as it will give you a ton of extra burst. Make sure you have recently refreshed or gained

before using it to maximize its damage!
Defensive

has great potential in arena games. If used well, you can deflect incoming burst pressure from highly damaging abilities or you can reflect crowd control, allowing you to swing the momentum of a game in your favour. When feeling confident with this spell, you could start using Spell Reflection on instant CC spells if you can predict them (e.g.

is incredibly powerful against nearly all melee classes (not effective against Windwalkers or Feral Druids). It will negate most melee abilities, including pressure as well as important crowd control tools. Lasting for 6 seconds, this is a highly effective way of reducing pressure when using it against enemy offensive cooldowns or during offensive setups from the enemy team.

I'm ecstatic for the return of
援护
and it's more powerful than ever, allowing you to Intervene ALL melee and ranged attacks for 6 seconds provided your allied target remains within 10 yards of you! Simply using it on a partner that's taking a ton of melee/ranged damage will direct the melee/ranged pressure on you (note, this doesn't work against Magic damage). The best time to use this is during scary offensive cooldowns from the enemy team, and/or when they have stunned one of your partners.

Even though this can be used offensively, quite often you may find yourself needing to use this defensively as well if you're wanting to reduce incoming pressure. This can be done by stunning enemy DPS targets during their offensive cooldowns. It can also be done by stopping crowd control chains that can't be interrupted, being able to stop a casted CC spell on your healer. This may arise, for example, against Mages whom could Shimmer away to try and land a
变形术
on your healer, being unable to use Pummel on them - but you could use Storm Bolt instead to stop the cast from going off!

A Fury Warriors biggest defensive cooldown, which is an excellent one! It reduces your damage taken, as well as provide a ton of healing through your
嗜血
! It should easily sustain you, provided you're actually hitting your target (as effects like
闪避
will make you do 0 healing), so be aware! For an easier time using this defensive, you could use my macro which will help you land the heal a bit easier.

is an essential team cooldown, used to save someone's life in your team. Basically you want to use it to try and prevent a death most of the time, but it could also be used to save other defensive cooldowns used from your partners. It has the benefit of effects such as
狂怒回复
healing you more if you really need as much self-healing as possible.
Utility
刺耳怒吼
This reworked version of
刺耳怒吼
is a nice addition to Fury, as
断筋
can sometimes be difficult to maintain all the time.
刺耳怒吼
can be used as a better gap closer, allowing you to catch up to targets, provided they don't have any freedom effects active. You could also use it on melee to help peel them off your partners, allowing them to be kited with more ease.
破胆怒吼
破胆怒吼
can be used for both peeling and aggressive needs. Using it to peel offensive cooldowns or an offensive setup from the enemy team can be a good use of it if you are lacking other peeling tools and need to survive. Playing aggressively with it usually involves crowd controlling the enemy healer, chained with other CC effects from your teammates. You could even initiate this yourself, with a
风暴之锤
into an
破胆怒吼
on the enemy healer whilst slaying a DPS target.
援护
Say if your partner is close to the enemy target of your choice and you want to save your
冲锋
or
英勇飞跃
for a later time, you could use
援护
on your partner to catch up to them instead. I'd say this is quite a rare circumstance, as you want to mainly use
援护
for its peeling strength in general, but this could be a popular way to catch over caster cleaves because caster damage ignores the effect of Intervene.

剑刃风暴
is another highly versatile spell. Even though this can mainly be used as damage in multi-target situations, it also has a lot of other uses. Since it immunes you from crowd control effects, you could use it to immune incoming CC that you know can't be dispelled or is about to happen, if it will be of use. You can also use this spell as a mobility cooldown, negating snares and roots on yourself, or allowing you to catch up to other targets that are snared.
Effective Strategies for Fury Warriors in PvP
Having knowledge of how your class functions, which abilities to use when and where are important when playing any class in general. It’s another thing to have effective strategies in an arena match, which will be a big decider on winning or losing matchups. To help with that, I’ll be going over the basics of things you should know.
Target Choice
Throughout an arena game, you will have a good idea of which target or targets you want to pressure with you and your teammates. As a Warrior, you will usually choose the target that susceptible to your physical damage, ideally being one that you can connect to quite easily. This allows you to build your pressure up as the passive pressure of Fury is powerful, so more uptime = more pressure.
That being said, there may be times when your target kites far back or away from you, meaning you cannot follow them. In these situations, you have 2 choices: to pursue them or to swap targets. Both are dependable given the situation and the more you play, the more you'll figure this out as it can vary on the composition you or your opponent plays.
It's important you read the game as it happens and understand your win conditions, which in turn will help you with your target choices most of the time!
Mobility
Using mobility properly and efficiently are vital aspects of playing a Fury Warrior. The standard mobility cooldowns available are
冲锋
,
英勇飞跃
and
死亡裁决
(when
猝死
procs or your enemy is in
斩杀
range). You want to try save these mobility cooldowns in order to connect to your targets properly, as some targets could be harder to keep up on if you waste mobility.
A good example can be a Mage as they have two
闪现术
s to deal with. Most of the time I see Warriors run in and charge straight away, which a Mage can Blink away from. After Heroic Leaping to try to connect again, the Mage will use their second Blink, completely kiting you and putting all your mobility cooldowns to waste. However, if it were the other way (forcing the Mage to use their Blink first), then we could achieve uptime on the Mage - forcing their mobility then catching up with them, giving us more opportunities to connect to them.
If you can force the enemy's mobility before using your own, then it should be easier to connect to most targets. Another important aspect, as mentioned earlier, is making sure you
断筋
your targets so they don’t kite you as easily. Practice making use of your mobility in order to have better up-time in an arena game.
血性狂暴
is an excellent tool for mobility, which should predominantly be used to escape root effects. If against classes with a lack of them though, you could simply use it on snares in order to maintain up-time on elusive targets.
剑刃风暴
could even be used for a way to catchup to targets as well, as it can break root effects and gives you immunity to any snare effects in the game as long as you're spinning! This has common usage against Mages, Hunters, and Druids.
Single-Target Damage Rotation
This remains vital as you want to output as much damage as possible. Fury Warriors provide a lot of it and it is the basis of your spec, so maximizing is a must! One thing that’s of the utmost importance in PvP is the use of
断筋
.
断筋
is needed to snare the target you are on so you have great uptime on them. Without this, you will get kited easily and end up wasting mobility cooldowns, which could mean you will get kited further. This is the bane of a Warrior, since all your damage is in melee range so it's critical to maintain your
断筋
. Don’t let it fall off to the best of your ability and prioritize it over damaging spells if it's needed to connect to your target!
Now that I’ve rambled on about Hamstring, let's talk about how the damage prioritization will look like for a Fury Warrior:

Burst Damage Rotation
This is for when you want to deal your maximum burst damage with all cooldowns. The first 3 manoeuvres will be warranted in order to initiate your burst damage properly, then after that it will be back to a priority system with your main damaging spells.

Note:
When playing with

, your priority changes slightly with the fact that

becomes more powerful than

in damage. It also has a 10 yard range, which can be helpful to chase targets if they're trying to kite you, allowing you to stick on them with relative ease. When playing with
无尽之怒
, it will also refresh your
激怒
giving you a ton of pressure. As a result, during your
鲁莽
windows you should mainly be spamming
暴怒
and
碎甲猛击
for maximum pressure.
The other spells are pretty self-explanatory, giving you damage in that order and being mindful of
激怒
during your rotation. Another note is that
暴怒
will
always
proc your
激怒
.
Multi-Target Damage Rotation
In Arena we are limited to 2-3 targets maximum, so I will limit our multi-target rotation to said number of targets. The main change is you will now incorporate
旋风斩
into your rotation then carry on your single-target damage rotation as usual. This is due to the Whirlwind buff causing your next two single target damage abilities to hit up to four players for 50% damage. This includes single-target spells such as
破城者
,
斩杀
, and
暴怒
, making cleaving a lot easier to pull off and very powerful when dealing with two or three targets clumped up all the time.
If you want to burst down two DPS then make sure to
旋风斩
to spread your
破城者
, then deal a huge
鲁莽
暴怒
+
巨龙怒吼
to destroy both enemies!
Common Mistakes Fury Warriors Make
Some of these mistakes may seem incredibly simple for some, but I consistently see a failure to produce the basic or advanced techniques of Fury Warrior gameplay. It’s crucial to make sure you maximize everything you do in Arena as every GCD could be the difference between living or dying!
Rage Management
An important factor for your damage is your
怒气
management. Fury has high Rage generation so you want to spend it as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you keep over-capping your Rage then you will waste it, giving you less
暴怒
s and
激怒
procs throughout the game. Knowing how much Rage your abilities receive or give can make you do even more DPS. Keep in mind:
Rage Spenders:
暴怒
= -80 Rage
刺耳怒吼
= -10 Rage
断筋
= -10 Rage

= -60 Rage
Rage Generators:

= +8 Rage

As you can see, you have many passive abilities and cooldowns that give you Rage. Be careful to not over-cap on rage during
鲁莽
windows as this doubles your Rage generation, so expect a lot more
暴怒
s during this cooldown!
Using
冲锋
at the Start of Games
Sometimes, you may need to use this in order to stop enemy players from reaching your partners, or if the enemy team don't allow you to run on top of them whilst you're mounted up. In many cases though, you can simply run in on-top of your target, allowing you to save
冲锋
in situations where you actually need it. Even though this may not be relevant in all matchups, it could definitely be a big thing against targets that are harder to maintain up-time on.
Not Prioritizing
断筋
Keeping up snares is an essential way to maximize uptime on elusive targets, as well as reduce the mobility of enemy players being able to chase your own teammates. Countless times I've seen Warriors:
not keep up
断筋
> end up getting kited > have to use
冲锋
or
英勇飞跃
to re-connect > end up getting kited for a long time
As you can see, this all stemmed from
断筋
not being kept up, so try to get in the habit of keeping this snare up as much as you can. Luckily, you now have
刺耳怒吼
as a back-up snare but this could be needed for other situations.

If I could pinpoint the biggest mistake I see when I face other Warriors as a Warrior myself, it's this one! Albeit, even I fall pray to doing this sometimes but just because it's the only ability you can use whilst disarmed, doesn't mean that you should use it!

targets when they are popping offensive cooldowns or if you are at heavy risk of dying without the use of it. Typically in a Warrior vs Warrior matchup, you should mainly be using Disarm on
灭战者
windows to reduce their pressure.
Fury Warriors Tips and Tricks

Management
This one is a bit more unknown but as we know,

is a great defensive tool as well as an extra source of
怒气
generation. If you switch your target choice with a
怒击
, it will cancel its effect as stated on the tooltip. If you are 100% health during your consecutive Raging Blow however, it will not proc Battle Trance, so be careful when swapping off targets to which you might be a bit more vulnerable.
Another worthy note is that if you use your
旋风斩
buff on a
怒击
then that will count as using it on a new enemy, hence losing your
战斗专注
buff. Take caution when using this talent if you rely on it to stay alive.

procs when you use 2x
怒击
only
. If you do your rotation as
怒击

嗜血

, it will

activate

. To activate it, you

on the same target! Although note that if you use a non-damaging spell global in between, for example

buff more easily.
Creating

heals!
As you know, Fury Warrior does have a lot of self-healing, all of which is HP% based. That means you're able to increase your healing output if you increase your HP. This means using
集结呐喊
and even

can make your healing much more powerful, especially when using
狂怒回复
. IF you want to, you could also utilize
狂怒冲锋
with all the other HP% increases, to give you a MASSIVE heal, making you able to pretty much out-live anything!
Outplaying with

Say if a Mage is casting

on you and their partner Rogue is hitting your partner, by casting

on that partner, the Rogue will most likely break your sheep! When feeling more comfortable with using

at a high level, if you're able to read your opponents gameplay well, you could even look to outplay them on important abilities with clever use of

! You could pre-emptively Intervene physical stuns your partners, such as
肾击
or
风暴之锤
. You can even Intervene
ALL
physical melee interrupt effects, allowing your caster or healer to free cast during times of need! If feeling lucky, you could even use it to intervene other CC, such as
致盲
on your healer!
Offensive
缴械

Although this PvP talent is mostly used defensively, you could use it offensively in some situations. Using it on a Windwalker channeling
怒雷破
can negate the parry effect of
怒雷叶轮
allowing you to keep up your pressure. Another case where this is common is against Death Knights,
缴械
ing them to stop their
灵界打击
s, negating a ton of healing.

ing CC
AND
Putting it On Diminishing Returns!

can be much more than just a damaging tool, having the unique effect of making you immune to CC in its duration. That means you could prevent
肾击

s and any other form of CC on yourself from happening. More importantly, if you time your

precisely before the CC lands, you'll end up
breaking
the CC with your Bladestorm, which still puts you on diminishing returns of the CC, making it even more difficult for enemy players to reduce your pressure.
Pooling
怒气
for

Since you now have access to
荣耀
, it will be in your best interest to try and spend as much
怒气
as possible in order to extend this buff, increasing your damage output significantly. This means using it in conjunction with
鲁莽
makes you deal a massive amount of damage whilst increasing the uptime of your banner. You should at least aim to try and save enough rage so that you can use
暴怒
immediately after pressing your
