This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the Opulence encounter in Normal Difficulty in Battle of Dazar'alor. Changes to the fight for the other difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties. Opulence is a two phase encounter in which the raid must split in two groups to defeat two guardians and steal some powerful Crown Jewels, before meeting up again to take down Opulence itself!

is the fourth boss in Battle of Dazar'alor and the first Alliance Story Encounter. Horde will participate in this encounter through a flashback event by talking to a Scout and changing their race and racials. Find out more about the Flashback Race Changes by

Quick Tips
Phase One
Split the raid into two even groups and defeat the guardians down the east and west paths.
Follow the guardian into each next chamber when it loses 10% health, otherwise you'll be set on fire!
Dodge the

if it follows you.
Healers: use healing cooldowns to counteract the

Move to the opposite side of the raised arm of the guardian when it casts

Make sure everyone picks up a Crown Jewel from the altars on either side of the seventh chamber, with one healer per side picking the

Kill both guardians at the same time.
Phase Two
Position the boss in the middle of the encounter space, with the raid stacked up behind him.
Let the

debuff expire at the edge of the room to correct place the
熔化的黄金
pools.
Crowd Control and quickly kill the
黄金之魂
adds before they reach the edge of the room.
Healers: ensure that all players are
暗影触痕
before and during the
贪欲哀鸣
cast.
Opulence Abilities & Strategy
Phase One: Raiding the Vault
Although it is possible to engage Opulence from the beginning of the encounter by simply running north into his lair, doing so will cause him to cast

This will cause him to deactivate both guardians, giving him 100% more damage done and maximum health for each guardian deactivated.
This buff will render the fight unbeatable, as the incoming damage from the bosses abilities will simply one shot anyone who is targeted.
Instead the
raid must defeat both guardians before entering the lair of Opulence.
The two guardians are placed in two separate paths,

in the east and

in the west.
The adds must remain within their paths, as otherwise the encounter will reset.
The raid must split into two groups with an equal amount of roles per group. Only one tank is required per path.
When splitting the raid, the two groups should have an equal damage output, as both guardians need to be defeated at approximately the same time.
Split the raid into two even groups and progress down each path!
Each path consists of eight chambers. These chambers are separated by a gate which will be removed once the guardian on that path has dropped by 10% health.
When this occurs, the guardian will automatically move into the next chamber before casting
消蚀烈焰
, coating the floor of the previous chamber with
蔓延烈火
.
Players must move with the guardian into the new chamber, as the
蔓延烈火
will quickly kill any player who stands within it.
The
蔓延烈火
also prevents players from backtracking or switching sides easily, so once you are on a path: you stick with that path.
Traps
Each of the eight chambers along the path, aside from the first and last, have Traps within them. These traps will always occur in the same chambers, regardless of which path you are on. All traps are triggered automatically and there are four different traps the raid will encounter.
Don't stand in the
烈焰喷射
s!
烈焰喷射
Up to three jets of flame will appear at the side of the chamber before spewing across the room in a straight line, dealing moderate fire damage every 2 seconds to anyone stood within it.
The entire group needs to identify where the fire is going to be and quickly stand within the areas of the chamber which are fire free.
Ideally the tank will also move the guardian into this free space as to allow melee DPS to damage it without burning alive.

This simply deals ever increasing nature damage to the players within the chamber.
If players under 50% health take damage from this, they will gain the Quickening Pulse debuff which increases all secondary stats by for 10 seconds.
Healers need to be prepared to deal with heavy incoming damage towards the end of any chamber with this trap, using healing cooldowns as they see fit.
Healers shouldn't go out of their way to get players to 50% before topping them up again, as this is more likely to lead to an accidental death and the bonus stats isn't required to safely pass through this chamber.
昏睡妖术
Try and kite the
红宝石射线
to the edge of the room.
A magic debuff which causes the target to take damage whilst they move. This can be applied to multiple players at once.
Healers need to dispel this debuff as soon as they can.
Players with the debuff should avoid movement, only moving when they need to position themselves safely for other mechanics.
红宝石射线
A beam will fixate and follow a random non-tank player and chase them, leaving
灼烧之地
patches in its wake.
This ability does not apply a debuff to the fixated player. Instead it will always spawn directly on top of the fixated player.
The targeted player should attempt to kite the beam towards the edges of the chamber as to give the rest of the group more space to move around in safely.
The order of the traps is always the same and can be seen in the chart below.

Guardians
The two guardians have two abilities, one that is unique and one that is used by both of them.
碾压
is used by both guardians. On live servers, as Crush is cast, the guardian will turn and face a direction, then slam down.
This deals damage to all players within the chamber whilst dealing additional damage and stunning all players who are in an 180 degree cone in front of the guardian.
Players need to quickly side step behind the guardian during Crush.
The guardian will not rotate to follow the tank once the cast has begun, allowing the tank to also safely side step the ability.
Tanks should position the guardians with lots of room to both its left and right side to give players enough room to dodge the incoming
碾压
.
碾压
can also be outranged.
因扎希之手
, which is found on the western path, will frequently apply
爆裂充能
debuffs to players.
This 8 second debuff deals moderate ticking nature damage before exploding upon expiration, dealing damage to all players within 6 yards.
The debuff will then transform into an orb which is left at the location in which the
爆裂充能
expired. This orb will pulse damage to nearby players every ~4 seconds.
Players afflicted with
爆裂充能
must move to the edge of the chamber to allow their debuffs to expire in low traffic areas.
It is occasionally possible to stack
爆裂充能
orbs on top of one another by allowing the debuff to expire on top of an existing orb when it is between pulses.
Healers should spot heal the debuffed players as to ensure they do not die to ticking damage aspect of the ability.
The
爆裂充能
orbs left behind by the debuff are permanent and will eventually fill a chamber if the guardian isn't damaged quickly enough.
Let the
爆裂充能
s expireat the edge of the room.
亚拉特的堡垒
, which is found on the eastern path, will frequently cast
惩罚烈焰
.
This is an 6.5 second channel, during which the guardian will blast out a series of 10 frontal cones whilst spinning clockwise.
Players hit by the cone will take a large initial burst of fire damage and receive an 8 second dot.
The entire group should stand behind the guardian and move clockwise as it spins, as to avoid all of the frontal cones.
It is ideal if a player is closer to the guardian when this ability comes in, as they will have to travel a shorter distance overall when dodging the cones.
This mechanic can be difficult to avoid during chambers with the
烈焰喷射
s, as players may be forced to run into
烈焰喷射
s to avoid the
惩罚烈焰
.
In this situation, players should always opt to get hit by the
烈焰喷射
s over the frontal cones, as they deal far less damage.
Stay behind the guardian to avoid the frontal cones!
The Zandalari Crown Jewels
Upon reaching the 7th chamber, the group will have access to 7 jewels. These jewels can be found on altars on either side of the room.
The jewels will give the player a powerful permanent buff which will remain active for the rest of the encounter.
Each player may only take one jewel, but multiple players can choose the same jewel.
Players should interact with the Jewels quickly as to gain their beneficial effects as soon as possible.
Players are only able to take jewels that are allocated to their role.
Steal the jewel that is best for your raid!
坚毅守护者的钻石
This absorbs 50% of all incoming damage up to a maximum of 300% of the player's maximum health. When this absorption is broken the player will be afflicted with
枯竭的钻石
for 30 seconds.
Once the
枯竭的钻石
debuff has expired, the
坚毅守护者的钻石
buff will reactivate.
This buff is useful when tanking the boss, as the tanks can take turns tanking the boss whilst they have their
坚毅守护者的钻石
buff up, taunting off each other when the
枯竭的钻石
debuff ends.
暗影之王紫水晶
This increases haste by 50% and causes all healing spells (including AoE spells) to apply
暗影触痕
to their targets, reducing all shadow damage taken by 90% for 1 minute.
If a
暗影触痕
player takes shadow damage, they will restore 1% mana to players within 10 yards via
黑暗学识
.
One healer per path should take this buff, as the
暗影触痕
buff is useful in countering the
贪欲哀鸣
ability cast by Opulence in phase two.
顺风蓝宝石
This causes all healing spells (including AoE spells) to grant
顺风之力
to their targets, increasing damage done by 5% for 30 seconds.
Upon reaching 5 stacks, the healer with this jewel will receive the
抚慰轻风
, increasing that players healing and damage done by 100% for 12 seconds.
This should be picked up by all other healers who didn't take the
暗影之王紫水晶
, ideally those who heal multiple targets often as this will apply
抚慰轻风
most often.
聚焦敌意红宝石
This buff causes the players damage dealt to apply a stack of
聚焦敌意
to the target, increasing the damage taken by all sources by 1% for 6 seconds. This can stack.
This buff should be granted to a single player per side. This is because the
聚焦敌意
debuff cannot be applied to a single target more than once per second.
The
聚焦敌意红宝石
should be a ranged player as they will always continue dealing damage to the enemy, even when they have to move for mechanics.
This buff is best assigned to the two ranged players in the raid that deal the least damage, as the other jewels will grant stronger individual bonuses.
The
聚焦敌意
does not stack via damage over time debuffs, instead the player must actively attack the target with an ability or auto attack to apply the debuff.
Your raid may opt to only have one player pick up the Ruby across the raid, rather than one per side, as to allow one additional strong jewel to be collected.
This will be beneficial for the last phase where the groups are rejoined and are fighting Opulence, but one group will lack the
聚焦敌意
on their construct for the final 40% of its health.
地之根系绿宝石
Whilst standing still, players with this buff will quickly gain stacks of
地之根系
, granting them 1% damage done per stack up to a maximum of 30%. These stacks quickly diminish upon movement.
This buff is best gained by the majority of DPS, as it is a simple way of gaining a large amount of extra damage.
Players with this buff should limit movement as much as they can in a safe manner, whilst ensuring they continue to move when mechanics dictate.
怒意释放猫眼石
This jewel will grant the player a stack of Unleashed Rage each time they hit a new enemy, increasing damage done by 2% permanently. This can stack.
Although the initial damage bonus of this jewel is low, it will gain substantial power during phase two when the raid will encounter the
黄金之魂
adds.
This jewel is best given to classes who have good execute damage and will hit all of the
黄金之魂
adds during phase two, such as Warriors.
This jewel is also a good choice for raids with overall lower damage, as the longer the fight goes on the stronger this buff becomes due to more
黄金之魂
add spawns.
璀璨日光黄晶
This jewel will grant the player a stack of
炽热
every 0.95 seconds whilst they are stood alone.
Upon reaching 100 stacks, they will gain the
极度炽热!
aura for 20 seconds, granting the player and all nearby players
闪耀光环
, increasing critical strike chance by 100%.
As this buff takes ~95 seconds to active, it is hard to assess exactly how good the Topaz is, especially in smaller raid sizes.
If phase two is short, we recommend having a maximum of 2/3 players with this Jewel, as they can grant the raid 40/60 seconds of 100% critical strike chance towards the end of the encounter by staggering the rate in which they gain stacks.
If phase two lasts a long time, the a larger raid size might want to opt to have 5 people gain this buff and begin to stack it up as part of a rotation.
This rotation would start with 1 person stood out for 20 seconds with the other four not gaining stacks.
After 20 seconds, and every 20 seconds after that point, a single
璀璨日光黄晶
player would begin to stand alone to start gaining stacks.
95 seconds after the first person gained the stacks, they can return to the raid and give everyone the
闪耀光环
for 20 seconds.
Once the first
闪耀光环
has expired, that player would stand alone to start gaining stacks, whilst the second player moves into the raid, as their
闪耀光环
has just triggered.
You would repeat this cycle, with each
璀璨日光黄晶
player taking turns at buffing the raid. This would grant the raid 100% critical strike chance 100% of the time.
This rotation requires a large amount of coordination to pull off and can easily go wrong. On normal/heroic difficulty we do not recommend going for this rotation as it simply isn't necessary.
We recommend that players are assigned which jewel to pick up before the encounter starts. An example of what this would look like in a 20 man raid would be as follows.

Upon reaching the final chamber, the guardians will
过载
. This causes them to deal low burst of nature damage to random players and empowers their
惩罚烈焰
or
爆裂充能
abilities.
When
爆裂充能
is empowered, it will increase the size of the orbs left behind. This will increase the range in which they pulse damage as well as increasing the damage itself.
Players must ensure that they deposit their
爆裂充能
orbs efficiently, making the most of the space available as to not run out of room.
Empowered
爆裂充能
orbs are bigger!
When
惩罚烈焰
is empowered, it will increase the size of the cone, causing it to hit approximately 180 degrees around the guardian, instead of approximately 70 degrees.
This makes dodging the cones more difficult, as the group has a far smaller space in which to remain safe.
The safe spot is always directly behind the guardian, so the raid should ensure they are all stacked up there throughout the ability.
The guardian will still rotate clockwise throughout the ability.
The range of the cone has also been increased, removing the possibility of out-ranging it in this larger room.
Empowered
惩罚烈焰
covers a much larger area
The empowered
惩罚烈焰
is much more difficult to deal with than the empowered
爆裂充能
.
Mobile DPS should be assigned to the eastern path as they will be able to more efficiently damage the guardian as it casts the empowered
惩罚烈焰
.
Once the jewels have been collected and each group has defeated the last 30% of the guardians health in the final room, the raid should regroup in the middle of the encounter space to fight Opulence.
Phase Two: Toppling the Guardian
Upon engaging Opulence, he will begin to cast

.
He will not gain any buffs as there is no active guardians. Players can simply use this time to get into position and plough some free damage into the boss.
The raid should stack directly behind the boss, who should be tanked in the direct centre of the room, to allow healers to efficiently heal and apply their crown jewel buffs to the raid.
The only players who shouldn't be stacked behind the boss is the tanks and any DPS players with the
璀璨日光黄晶
.
Place the
熔化的黄金
pools atthe side of the room.
Opulence has three abilities he will use throughout this final phase.

Several non-tank players will be given the
液态黄金
debuff.
This deals moderate fire damage every 3 seconds for 12 seconds. Upon expiration, the player will create a pool of
熔化的黄金
at their location.
熔化的黄金
will deal fire damage to any player who stands within it.
Players afflicted with
液态黄金
must move to the edges of the encounter space to drop the
熔化的黄金
pools away from the raid when the debuff expires.
As the
熔化的黄金
is permanent, this acts as a pseudo-enrage, as the raid will eventually run out of space. This makes efficient
熔化的黄金
placement a high priority for all raid members.
CC and Kill the
黄金之魂
黄金之魂
On a timer, Opulence will summon eight
黄金之魂
adds. These adds will spawn directly inside him and slowly move towards the edges of the encounter space.
Upon reaching the edge they will
引导黄金
, spawning several
黄金冲击
piles around the room which deal a moderate burst of physical damage to anyone within the 5 yard landing zone.
The adds are susceptible to roots, slows, displacements and stuns, all of which should be used to keep them under the boss whilst the DPS nuke them down.
贪欲哀鸣
Opulence will occasionally cast
贪欲哀鸣
. This 10 second channel deals ever increasing shadow damage to the raid every 2 seconds.
Healers with the
暗影之王紫水晶
should ensure that all players are
暗影触痕
before this ability comes in, as to counteract the heavy damage it deals.
The raid should also attempt to stack up to assist healers in efficiently healing the raid.
This ability will deal the most damage to the raid over the course of phase two, making it an excellent time to assign healing cooldowns.
When the channel completes, the boss gains a stack of
贪婪
, permanently increasing his damage done by 25%. This will stack after each channel, eventually leading to one shots if the boss gets too many stacks.
Heroic Difficulty
Aside from numerical changes, in which the enemies have more health and deal more damage, there are several mechanical changes for the heroic difficulty version of this encounter.
Phase One
窃贼的报应
When a player interacts with a crown jewel and gains their buff, they will also receive the

debuff.
This 30 second debuff will deal lethal shadow damage to the player when it expires.
The healer who picks up the
暗影之王紫水晶
must apply
暗影触痕
to all players on their path within 30 seconds as to allow them to survive this incoming hit.
Phase Two
Opulence has gained two additional abilities in phase two.
金币横扫
Stack on the player targeted by the
金币雨
!
He will frequently hit the tank with
金币横扫
, dealing a huge amount of physical damage to the tank.
This damage is enough to deplete the
坚毅守护者的钻石
buff.
Tanks should taunt off of one another just before each hit as to ensure that the target of the spell always has a full
坚毅守护者的钻石
buff.
Tanks should also use active mitigation and defensive cooldowns to survive this large hit.
金币雨
Opulence will mark a player with
金币雨
. After 10 seconds, they will take a lethal burst of physical damage which is split between all players within 7 yards.
The raid should stack up and the
金币雨
marked player should stand with them to help split this damage.
Abilities that mitigate or immune physical damage can be used to solo the hit, such as Blessing of Protection, Aspect of the Turtle and Netherwalk.
Mythic Difficulty
Opulence has received several mechanical changes on Mythic difficulty and is considered to be the first difficulty spike within the instance.
Players need to communicate and be flexible whilst dealing the guardians and the deadly traps during phase one.
During phase two, players must maintain the reduced duration
聚焦敌意
debuff whilst dealing with mechanics at a vastly increased rate.

We've received some reports that during this encounter, groups are not seeing the various jewels spawn. If your group runs into this, performing a "soft reset" on the raid should resolve it. Details

When not moving at all, I noticed my emerald buff would stack up to 5% and then drop off and start stacking again. Is this a bug? I'm hoping this is a bug.

Can anyone confirm or clarify if "shadow-touched" is being triggered by AoE healing spells? It says on this page that "targets by healing spells" would get shadow-touched, which somehow indicates that AoE doesn't trigger it. But then in the tooltip of the actual item it mentions "your heals apply Shadow-Touched". Any clarification would be appreciated since imo it does impact strategy.

It appears that on normal mode, Flames of Punishment only goes clockwise. It's also not worth finishing your cast.
Also, Gorefiend's Grasp is amazing on the boss for handling the adds. You can let them go as far as the dark inner ring before pulling them in.

The Opal capped out at 20 stacks for me today, despite another two rounds of adds. If it hadn't the damage increase would of been insane!

On Normal mode, the left quardian only used the frontal Crush. It's also worth nothing that that if one group kills their guardian before the other, half the raid will have to engage the actual boss, with the other group joining in when they've killed their guardian, there is NO waiting for the other group.

Does anyone know the number of players affected by

with 15/20/25 players?
Just trying to figure out if the players hit scales with number of players.
In a 10 man normal with 2 healer 4 people getting hit with it feels very overtuned imo.
Very easy for a single healer(per path) to get overwhelmed given dispell's 8s recharge vs the spells short recast time.

Does Opulence engage and cast Hoard Power as soon as the first guardian is killed? If so, does that mean both guardians must be killed within the 5 second Hoard Power cast time? That seems really tight timing.
Or can a group wait in the final/eighth chamber, until the other group kills its guardian, and then both groups enter the main boss space at the same time?

one thing im confused about is the piles of gold after you down the boss. do the piles have a chance to drop anything like boes? or random pieces of non boss loot?
