Strengths and Weaknesses of Priest Leveling in Burning Crusade Classic
Priests come in three basic specs: Discipline, Holy, and Shadow. Both Discipline and Holy are primarily Healer specs, with Discipline having a good toolbox for PvP and Holy geared more toward dungeon and raid healing. Shadow is a powerful Ranged Spell DPS class.
Discipline and Holy Priest
specs share similar strengths --
Healer priest specs have a versatile toolkit.
With a wide range of healing options, including strong AoE healing, Holy and Discipline priests will remain sought-after healers in Burning Crusade Classic.
Excellent AoE healing.
治疗之环
is one of the strongest AoE heals in the game. Since it is also instant cast, it can be thrown on the move, making it great for both escaping and healing difficult boss mechanics. This is particularly convenient in raids, meaning it will only get better as Burning Crusade phases move forward.
Discipline Priests are great for PvP.
Discipline Priests will hold their crown as one of the best PvP healer classes in game, with better survivability tools and damage at their disposal.
-- and similar weaknesses:
Limited utility when compared to other healing classes.
Healing priests can offer far less in terms of buffs and other utility when compared to Shaman and Paladins. While this won't be much of an issue for dungeons, it's important to keep in mind that you will be unlikely to see multiple healer Priests in raids, as most of their buffs are group-wide.
Healer aggro can be a real problem for the extra-squishy Priest.
Overfunctioning on healing can draw aggro off your tank, drawing attention to the cloth-wearing Priest with few defensive options. And in PvP, there are actually addons that will call out and target healers for special attention by the opposing side.
Shadow Priests
have their own sets of concerns as well. Their good points are as follows:
Shadow Priests offer amazing amounts of utility, many of which benefit the entire party.
They can restore party mana with
吸血鬼之触
, debuff mobs for all party members with
悲惨
, create shadow vulnerability on mobs with
暗影之波
(you're the Warlocks' best friend now!), add crowd control with
束缚亡灵
and
安抚心灵
, buff with
真言术:韧
,
防护暗影
, and
防护恐惧结界
... you get the idea. There's a ton of things Shadow Priests can do other than melt faces.
吸血鬼之触
is just too tasty to resist.
While it's also handy for solo content for keeping your own mana up, this really shines in group content. Being a Shadow Priest has never been so desirable for group content.
There are also some considerable drawbacks as well to being a Shadow Priest.
DPS is not that high compared to other classes.
On average, Shadow Priests will not out-damage other caster classes like Mages and especially Warlocks. It's not horrible, but it's not stellar. Your utility will make up for the DPS shortcomings.
Priests get little benefit from Critical Strike Rating.
A lot of Burning Crusade Classic caster gear comes loaded with Crit Strike, and this stat just doesn't help the vast majority of Shadow Priests damage spells. It's one of the reasons Shadow Priests will continue to lag behind other casters in terms of DPS output.
Gearing a Shadow Priest can be expensive.
Many of the Shadow Priest's BiS items are obtained through crafting, some of which you can make yourself and some of which you'll need to buy from others. The Auction House may be your best friend.
Priest Leveling Specs in Burning Crusade Classic
Leveling as a Shadow Priest
Shadow is
the
recommended leveling spec for Priests. Even if you plan eventually to heal for top-level dungeons, if you're serious about leveling quickly, Shadow is the way to go. Shadow is outstanding for solo leveling, with efficient resource management that ensures little to no downtime. They also do well as DPS casters in dungeons, with great utility for buffing, resurrecting, and occasional spot heals. And
吸血鬼的拥抱
at level 30 for partywide trickle healing and
吸血鬼之触
at level 50 for mana restoration are just amazing.
Leveling as an Holy Priest
Holy has all the usual disadvantages of healer classes trying to level. All healers suffer with solo content, and Holy Priests are no exception here. Self-defense is limited, and even though they're great healers, the build is mana-hungry and the DPS output is not great. However, they are amazing dungeon healers and will never have trouble finding groups. Priests considering leveling as Holy would do well to concentrate on dungeon grouping.
Leveling as a Discipline Priest
Discipline is a niche specialization for leveling, and as such isn't a popular choice as leveling tends to be slower with this build. Discipline is primarily a healing spec that adds a great deal of survivability and utility, making it a great PvP spec,
Still, Discipline also suffers with solo leveling, and many of the defensive abilities are tailored far more to PvP combat than for PvE open-world. Discipline also isn't a particularly strong dungeon healer, as the other healing classes do that job better. With middling healing and middling DPS, it will struggle in most leveling situations outside PvP. A player really wanting to level as Discipline would do well to find a leveling partner for open-world questing -- a friend who can use the healing support and make up for the less-than-stellar DPS.

Best Leveling Talent Build for Priests in Burning Crusade Classic
Far and away, the best spec for leveling a Priest is Shadow. Shadow Priests excel in all leveling situations.
Holy and Discipline can be viable if you're planning to level primarily or solely in group content and want to use the time to get used to group healing, but these are slower and much less flexible options. Discipline is much better tuned for PvP situations.

Priest Gear for Leveling in Burning Crusade Classic
As noted before, Shadow Priests do not benefit from Critical Strike Rating, so don't waste time, effort, or money on items with this rating.
Just like in Classic, dungeons remain one of the most consistent sources of good gear upgrades while leveling in Burning Crusade Classic. There are also some great weapon questlines to follow -- the
终极挑战
quest line in Nesingwary's camp in Nagrand is a must-do for nearly every class, as it's a great source of some awesome Rare-quality weapon upgrades.

Best Leveling Professions for Priests in Burning Crusade Classic
Many people recommend not picking up manufacturing professions (Blacksmithing, Tailoring, etc). until after you've reached maximum level. These professions can be very expensive to level, and you're going to have a lot of expenses anyway. Instead, consider leveling with gathering professions such as Herbalism, Skinning, or Mining. If you have an idea of what profession you'd like to pick up later, you can set aside materials for your own use.
One of the most popular skills for leveling in Burning Crusade Classic is
裁缝
, particularly with the new Tailoring specialization
暗纹裁缝
. It creates amazing BiS items that are Bind on Pickup, so you can only create these for yourself. A popular go-along with Tailoring is
附魔
, since you can Disenchant items used for skilling. Plus, Enchanting in Burning Crusade Classic includes enchanting Rings, which Enchanters may only do for their own rings. And
附魔戒指 - 法术能量
is a compelling argument for this skill.
烹饪
is useful for creating your stat food, and of course
钓鱼
helps with leveling Cooking. Particularly if you're a Tailor, you probably don't want to waste materials on leveling
急救
, although it certainly doesn't hurt to level that secondary skill.

Please allow me to share my personal experience of leveling a priest. I didnt pass the portal in TBC classic so please take that into consideration when you read my comment.
I think from leveling perspective doesn't matter what tree you select, the first 10 talent should go to spirit tap & wand specialisation because these talents will be core element along leveling.
I have seen many priests, who want dungeon level, go for the endgame holy talent tree for leveling and they are completely ignoring these 2 talant skills.
A feral talented druid with int gear is perfectly capable to heal dungeons, priests dont need deep healing talent tree for the job and although I try to avoid open world questing, i still have to spend a great ammount of time outside of dungeons to complete prequest, and it takes time to find a group. These days it is difficult to find dps as well where I play.
If the dungeon run doesn't require much healing, what usually the case is, wanding + SW:P beside keeping the group alive will be a competitive DPS.
It is important to have up to date wand.
I keep a few high spirit items as well in my bag. When spirit tap procces, i switch these items on so my mana regenerates faster. Ofc this is a situational option.
In dungeon as a healer I fish for the finishing move to trigger spirit tap.
Well as a summary, i think leveling isnt about the three talent trees but more about the dedicated talents that supports you.
Btw solo content isn't an issue, no matter what spec you go.
Holy Fire Sw:P and wanding for healer specces. Optional to pop shield on or squeeze out a few smites. Spirit tap will regenerate great deal of mana back after the fight. We can't do aoe pull but we are more than capable soloing in the open world as long as we are equipped with a good wand.
