Top Things You Shouldn't Miss While Leveling a Rogue in Classic WoW
Here are just a few things to keep in mind while leveling your
潜行者
.
Complete your
潜行者
quests to gain access to poisons and the recipe for
菊花茶
.
Rogues lack innate health regeneration in Classic WoW, so carrying lots of food and bandages is fundamental to level efficiently. Remember that unlike most classes, your only downtime is your health bar!
Save up gold so you can purchase your

at level 40, and at 60, too.
When approaching
levels 50 and up
, begin checking out your Pre-Raid BiS gear and where it drops. You can begin farming certain dungeons early on, while still gaining XP, to obtain some of that Pre-Raid BiS gear before 60.

Rogue Leveling Talents in Classic WoW
Below we will outline some common builds for Rogues leveling to 60 in Classic WoW, with links to separate guide pages describing them in greater detail.
Combat Swords Rogue Leveling in Classic WoW
When leveling a Rogue, Combat Swords is the most recommended build. It is the bread-and-butter build for Rogues, great for beginners, has great progression while leveling, and is easy to transition into raiding.
Combat Swords Rogue Leveling Guide
Combat Daggers Rogue Leveling in Classic WoW
When leveling a Rogue, Combat Daggers isn't necessarily regarded as the best for a solo experience, as the monster will face you when fighting alone, meaning you can't Backstab. However, this is a great build to use while leveling in a group, with a dedicated tank, as it relies on Backstab.

Subtlety Rogue Leveling - Hemo PvP Rogue in Classic WoW
When leveling a Rogue, Subtlety is a popular choice for PvP servers, as Hemorrhage or "Hemo" can be an extremely powerful enabler of the infamous stun lock. While not the fastest or most efficient build for leveling solo, Hemo is popular for some players for being very versatile and strong in PvP scenarios.

Spells to Buy while Leveling as a Rogue in Classic WoW
This is a critical section to take the time to read because a common misconception is that you'll need to buy every single ability as you can train them when, in reality, you only need to purchase certain spells at certain levels. This path will save you a lot of travel time, as well as a lot of gold that can go toward buying your first mount at level 40. I'm going to list the levels that are important to train at, as well as what you should train at that particular level.
The first 10 levels:
At first spells aren't very expensive so you can go ahead and pretty much buy anything you want without doing much harm to yourself by draining your silver. Rogues are especially simple as you're going to look out for either
影袭
as Sword spec, or
背刺
as Dagger spec; you're also going to want to upgrade
斩击
as often as possible. As always, you'll want to make sure to return to your class trainer at 10 as they'll offer you a short quest for a green one hand weapon.
Because Rogues are very simple in the regard that you use
影袭
or
背刺
to generate combo points, and
斩击
as your finisher, I'm going to list the levels you can upgrade these three spells. It's worth noting that these spells are always in the same order separated by two levels each: for example,
(rank 2) is level 12,
(rank 3) is 14, and
(rank 3) is 16.
背刺
: Levels 12, 20, 28, 36, 44, and 52 are going to be when you want to visit the trainer if you are playing Daggers.
影袭
: Levels 14. 22. 30. 38, 46, and 54 are going to be when you want to visit the trainer if you are playing Swords.
斩击
: Levels 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, and 56 are where you can upgrade Eviscerate.
Another spell worth considering if you are playing Daggers is
伏击
: you can train this ability at 18, 26, 34, 42, 50, and 58. This ability does major damage but requires you to be in
潜行
.
If you're on a PVP server, be sure to pick up your controlling abilities such as
偷袭
at level 26,
肾击
at level 30, and
致盲
at level 34.
Rogue Leveling Rotation in Classic WoW
Rogue leveling is about as straightforward as it gets: you will generate combo points using either
影袭
as Swords,
背刺
as Daggers, or
as Subtlety.
To spend your combo points, you'll be using
斩击
If you get a chance to open from stealth, you can use
伏击
but, it requires a dagger and stealth to use.
If you need a bit of control on a particular enemy, you can use abilities like
偷袭
,
肾击
,
致盲
. and
凿击
to lock down NPCs or players from the opposite faction.
Leveling as Combat gives you access to two different DPS cooldowns in the form of
剑刃乱舞
and
冲动
, using these abilities as much as possible will increase your leveling speed by quite a lot.
Learn more in detail about each build rotation in their detailed guides:

Rogue Dungeon Leveling in Classic WoW
Rogue Dungeon Cleave Setup in Classic WoW
A popular leveling strategy that has recently surfaced in WoW Classic is a dungeon cleave group. Let's quickly go over some strategies for a
潜行者
who may find themselves in a cleave group. This is a very fast-paced strategy, and oftentimes groups will spend hours at a time in one particular dungeon.
Rogues will have low AoE damage until they can learn
剑刃乱舞
starting at level 30. To make up for this, focus your damage on threatening targets, as well as interrupting dangerous spellcasts. Your plethora of interrupts and stuns should enable your group to pull more recklessly without having to worry about enemies doing deadly casts.
Even with
剑刃乱舞
learned, your AoE will still be somewhat weak due to the ability's long cooldown. Blade Flurry should still be used as often as possible.
Poisons such as
can be useful to slow down fleeing mobs, but can also be troublesome if the group is trying to move mobs as they move to the next pull. Evaluate which poison the group will get the most use out of and change your poisons accordingly.
Your talent build can be very flexible and even change based on what weapons you will get on your way to 60.
Rogue Trainer Locations in Classic WoW
You must train abilities, including their higher ranks, through Rogue Trainers. The Rogue Class Trainer Guide details the locations of all Class Trainers as well as costs of all abilities. You can also check out the "Spells to Buy while Leveling as a Rogue" section of this guide for which are the very best abilities to train, and which you can skip to save gold.

At level 10, Classic Rogue can visit weapon trainers in capital cities to learn additional weapon skills for each.
Be aware that not all Cities have trainers for all weapon skills - For instance, there is no Sword Trainer in Darnassus.

Best Weapons and Gear For Leveling a Rogue in Classic WoW
While there's a lot of RNG that goes into what you will be using while leveling (finding a green weapon at level 5 for instance), there are certain places where you can guarantee yourself an upgrade. Having a good weapon is essential for
潜行者
s, so even a white weapon with higher damage can be better. If you're playing with a group, it would be a good idea for your group to help purchase you a new weapon at certain level intervals.
Early Game Weapon Merchants:
Starting at level 3 you can find upgrades from your local weapon merchant, as an Orc you might find yourself in Sen'Jin Village speaking to
特莱耶克
to buy a
卷刃的剑
. It's worth looking at low-level white weapons in the database to find out exactly where the weapon vendor for your starting zone is.
Weapons From Quests:
Another great source of weapons is quests, you'll definitely want to go the extra mile in order to get a weapon upgrade from a particularly difficult quest. Some notable rewards from low-level quests include
狡诈之刃
from your level 10 class quest,
古代之刃
from
健忘的勘察员
,
达瑞尔的短剑
from
猎人的挑战
,
优雅短剑
from
塞瑞娜·血羽
, and
简易小刀
from
菲兹普罗克主管
.
Weapons From Dungeon Quests:
Some low level dungeons quests reward good weapons including
预兆之剑
from
深入血色修道院
in Scarlet Monastery,
平静之剑
from
以圣光之名
also in Scarlet Monastery,
翼刃
from
尖牙德鲁伊
in Wailing Caverns,
逃犯弯刀
from
in Blackfathom Depths, and
黑暗威胁
from
以圣光之名
in Scarlet Monastery.
Weapon Vendors Are Valuable Throughout Leveling:
Something that has been lost over the expansions is the value of vendor items, as a melee class your biggest upgrade will be an increase in your weapon's damage. If you haven't found a weapon upgrade in a few levels, you should check your local weapon's vendor and see what they have to offer.

Stat Weights while Leveling in Classic WoW
Agility = Spirit > Strength > Stam
Agility:
This is going to be your main stat as a Rogue, providing you with Attack Power, Critical Strike Chance, and Dodge.
Spirit:
Spirit is excellent while leveling in Classic, allowing you to regen health out of combat and reduces the amount of time you spend eating. It's especially useful on Trolls because of their racial
再生
.
Strength:
For Rogues this is another source of Attack Power.
Stamina:
Increases total health points.
Best Rogue Leveling Professions in Classic WoW
Although there are many professions to choose from, some can give a
潜行者
a bit of an edge. Many choose to go
剥皮
&
制皮
. With
制皮
, a
潜行者
can craft many helpful pieces of gear to aid them in leveling, as well as help get them geared with the recommended
Pre-raid BiS
(Best in Slot) gear such as:
魔暴龙皮护腿
魔暴龙皮手套
...both of which are crafted with
制皮
. Although you can pair your
制皮
with other professions,
剥皮
complements it nicely because
剥皮
provides much of the leather used for
制皮
recipes, although you may not have enough time to skin a whole lot of mobs in dungeons.
Rogues also greatly benefit from
草药学
, as it allows them to farm
枯叶草
, required to create
致盲粉
, the reagent for
致盲
, as well as
雨燕草
, used to create the powerful
菊花茶
. However, you won't be able to level Herbalism properly in dungeons.
If you're looking to just make money, oftentimes players will choose a second gathering profession to pair with
剥皮
, such as
草药学
or
采矿
.
Changes to Questing in Classic WoW
If you're coming to Classic from BFA (or any later expansion for that matter), there are going to be some changes in your questing experience that you will want to be ready for:
Quests and Objectives are not displayed on the map:
To put it simply, you will have to do some exploring; if you are lost at some point during a quest you might have to read the quest or go to an external website, to find out where you are supposed to be going. While there might eventually be a leveling addon for Classic, part of the game is feeling immersed in a world to create an adventure all your own.
You may struggle to kill enemies
: Especially as a
潜行者
, you don't have access to abilities like leeching poison to sustain yourself while questing. If it is your first time playing Classic, I would highly recommend leveling with a healer to reduce your death count.
Zones don't guarantee a certain amount of levels:
Once again, coming from BFA or one of the later expansions, you might be used to finishing a zone (Vol'Dun for instance) and expecting to be two levels higher. In Classic, the difficulty of zones vary, and especially as a
潜行者
, you will want to do a lower difficulty quest. You'll find yourself bouncing between a few zones at any given level range.
Best Rogue Questing Zones in Classic WoW
While questing is all about opportunity, exploration, and competition, you should be familiar with some of the better zones for each faction:
黑海岸
(11-19): Once you complete the starting area for your particular race, you begin to have options of where to go, where to quest, and for Alliance, in particular, one of the best early game zones is Darkshore.
洛克莫丹
(10-18): Second to Darkshore would be the Gnome/Dwarf 10-18 zone of Loch Modan. The zone isn't as rich as Darkshore, but, it has some relatively easy quests. This is a good place to come back to and complete the quests once you out-level the content.
西部荒野
(9-18): While these initial questing zones come down to preference, I would not suggest Westfall as a zone in regards to difficulty. However, if you have a group of friends you are leveling with, and you want to go into Deadmines for a quest run and get some higher item level rewards, this zone is worth considering.
赤脊山
(15-25): This is the level range where you will have to bounce between zones of equal difficulty if you want to fill your quest bar from questing alone. Forming an efficient route of the next few zones will be important to increase your leveling speed.
暮色森林
(20-30): This is probably one of my favorite zones; it's full of quests, full of flavor, and has a lot of solid upgrades. Don't miss out on this zone if you play Alliance.
湿地
(20-30): This is probably the last "Alliance only" zone, from here on out you will enter into zones that are contested by both Horde and Alliance.
北贫瘠之地
(10-33): This is the big one, as it is the meeting point for three of the four races of the Horde, this zone has no shortage of quests and will easily propel you toward level 20. As great as this zone is, be ready to compete for mob tags, as there will be a lot of players funneled into this one zone.
银松森林
(10-20): This is the Undead version of The Barrens; it has some decent quests to complete, but, I usually don't end up coming here at all.
石爪山脉
(15-25): Although this zone offers Alliance quests, it is almost entirely a Horde zone. This zone is fantastic as it is right next to the Barrens, and the level range of the two zones overlap.
希尔斯布莱德丘陵
(20-31): Home to the infamous Southshore vs. Tarren Mill world PvP spot, this zone has a lot of good quests for both Alliance and Horde and is usually worked into most people's leveling routes.
灰谷
(19-30): Another flavorful zone as this is the home to what will become Warsong Gulch, plenty of quests for both Alliance and Horde.
千针石林
(24-35): Home to the infamous Shimmer Flats, this is a great zone for both factions to get almost an entire level. It also has a questing hub for Horde.
北荆棘谷
(30-50): probably one of the most infamous zones in the whole of World of Warcraft, you will be coming to this zone off and on from level 30 and up towards level 50.
凄凉之地
(30-39): Home of the dungeon Maraudon, this is one of my favorite zones in the game, and I spend many levels here. There are both Horde and Alliance quest hubs here.
阿拉希高地
(30-40): This zone is home to the 2nd battleground Arathi Basin, there are two hubs here (one for each faction), and there are plenty of good kill quests here.
荒芜之地
(36-45): This is a quick and dirty zone, while it only has a hub for Horde; it is a quick level, and if you have enough players around your level you can do an Uldaman quest run.
塔纳利斯
(40-50): Home to the dungeon Zul'Farrak, I recommend questing here as well as doing a full quest run of ZF.
菲拉斯
(41-60): This is one of the less popular zones for people to quest at, it's worth coming here in your early 40s as there are plenty of quests for both factions.
灼热峡谷
(43-56): This zone is particularly exciting because you get your first taste of the end-game, On one side of Blackrock Mountain is a lower level zone with various quests coming from the Thorium Brotherhood.
燃烧平原
(50-59): The other side of Blackrock Mountain, this is a higher level zone and has hubs for both Horde and Alliance, you will probably come to this zone a couple of times as the level range is quite large. Some dungeon quests come from this zone.
费伍德森林
(47-54): This zone is a must-complete for me as the quests are quite good and you will need to come here to get your
塞纳里奥信标
, which is needed to farm various consumables like
鞭根块茎
.
安戈洛环形山
(48-55): This is another hot zone as it has a plethora of quests and will get you nearly two levels from completing the crater.
西瘟疫之地
(46-57): This zone is excellent for quick leveling, as you can complete the "cauldron" questline for massive amounts of experience. It's worth noting that you need a breadcrumb quest from your faction's major city.
东瘟疫之地
(54-59): Home to the legendary Naxxramas, this zone gives you another taste of the end-game immediately upon questing. You will spend a lot of time here even at max level.
冬泉谷
(55-60): This is an amazing zone, it has a ton of quests that give a ton of experience, and you can get
玛艾里的容器
, allowing you to farm Jujus, a very good consumable for raids.
Rogue Class Quests in Classic WoW
In WoW Classic, all classes have special quests that are unique to them, providing unique experiences and, more importantly, rewards. For a
潜行者
, you will have a quest chain to teach you how to make poisons.
At level 20, your Rogue trainer will send you to a series of covert quests that will end in teaching you your most basic poisons and the recipe for
菊花茶
, a powerful tea that will fully replenish your Energy bar.
After this, you will go without Class Quests until all the way to level 50, where you will go through a lengthy quest leading you to the
沉没的神庙
, allowing you to select powerful rewards:
乌黑面具
,
耳语长靴
or
暗色蝠斗篷
. For more information, check the Rogue section on our Sunken Temple Class Quest Guide.
You can learn all about Rogue quests in our Rogue Class Quests Guide.

Leveling Dungeons for Rogues in Season of Mastery
While leveling in Classic, often you'll find quests for dungeons appropriate for your level. Classic doesn't have quality of life improvements like Dungeon finder or Group Finder, so players must use default chat channels like General or LookingForGroup to find groups for dungeons.
We have guides for all dungeons in Classic to help you in your journey.

Bag Space in Season of Mastery
One aspect of Classic leveling that many players, especially retail players, often forget is bag space. Unlike when you start a new expansion, starting in Classic means you only have your default backpack available, with meager 14 items lots.
To ease that off, there are some bags that you can easily obtain at the start of the game:
亚麻包
- Created by Tailors. Requires
裁缝
skill level 45 and takes 6x
亚麻布
, obtained from Humanoid enemies, and 3x
粗线
, purchasable at
Tailoring supplies vendors
.
If you have the necessary materials, try asking in General Chat or Trade Chat if any Tailor could help you making that bag. If you find someone, make sure to tip them for their help!
棕色小袋
- Dropped by many different humanoid mobs and sold by
select vendors in early game
for around .
科多兽皮包
- Created by Leatherworkers. Requires
制皮
skill level 40 and is learned from
图样:科多兽皮包
, which is only sold by a Horde vendor. Alliance players may get this pattern by using the Neutral AH in Gadgetzan. Requires 3x
薄科多兽皮
, 4x
轻皮
, and 1x
粗线
.

Closing Thoughts on Leveling a Rogue in Classic WoW
Quality of Life changes have been implemented over the years:
If you are coming from
Battle for Azeroth
, there are going to be a lot of not-so-friendly changes that make questing harder, or at least take more time. Quests and objectives won't be marked on your map, so you will have to do a lot more exploring. There won't be a steady stream of quests from 1-60, so you will have to combine questing and grinding enemies for the experience to level. There's no AoE looting, and quest items take space in your bags. Cooldown abilities are available much less frequently, and there's significantly less personal healing, which adds much more downtime in between pulls as you sit and eat or use First Aid/Alchemy to heal. Playing efficiently is the best thing you can do to speed up your leveling.
Play Swords or Daggers for leveling:
You will also be speccing into the Combat Talent Tree while leveling but, you will change some of the points and play differently depending on whether or not you use Swords or Daggers. Swords will be a more consistent and friendly spec; I would highly recommend playing Swords if it is your first time leveling a Rogue in Classic. Daggers, on the other hand, is a higher damage output spec and is excellent for group play, I wouldn't play Daggers on your first go-round.
Grouping is worth considering as a Rogue:
Although you can get by on your own, Melee classes are always going to struggle while leveling solo and because of this it is worth considering finding yourself a friend and/or group of players to level with. I would recommend finding yourself a healer to level with, you can easily take advantage of things like
风怒图腾
or
, and increase both you and your partner's leveling speed simultaneously.
Buy abilities only when needed:
A lot of people don't think it is possible to afford a mount by level 40, in reality, it's much easier as long as you only buy the necessary spell upgrades to save money. It's also worth noting that following this guide for buying spells will save you a lot of travel time as flights back to major cities or your questing hub can take a lot of time away from leveling.
Weapon upgrades are significant for Rogues:
The biggest upgrade you will get is a better weapon, you should be ready to put forth the extra time and/or effort to get the best weapons for leveling. Some of them come from quests, while others can be bought from a vendor.

What about
切割
?
I remember always using it as combat swords rogue because white damage does the biggest chunk of our damage.
Engage with either
邪恶攻击
,
偷袭
or
绞喉
depending on the mob you are attacking
切割
(1-2CP)
邪恶攻击
until 5CP or mob close to death
刺骨
Keep
切割

Combo Points
Nobody seems to talk about the biggest difference to Retail Wow:
Combo points are stacked
on your target
and
are lost if you switch/kill your target
.
So do not let them go to waste. If your target is at 5CP and 2% life, do not eviscerate but instead cast a full duration SnD before killing it.

I always used Remorseless Attacks while leveling. The 20% crit chance after killing a mob is huge when grinding out quests.

Forgets to mention the fact that you need to train swords skill from a weapons master, or the fact you need to train weapons at all. And that different cities have different weapons. For swords Alliance is Stormwind, Horde is Undercity. Also forgot Slice n Dice.

For leveling on a PvP server you'll want to acquire
12pts in Subtlety
for Master of Deception, Camouflage, and Elusiveness by the time you hit Contested Zones. Not sure how these builds look after that, I didn't level a rogue till BC when Mutilate and Envenom made it easier to level as Assassin. Maybe the sword build is something like
5/34/12
?

I like the idea of the guides but from personal experience I'd say these rogue leveling builds are a bit wonky (for leveling) and actually seem set up for dungeons or end game raiding more than efficient dispatching of single targets via leveling.

Good rule of thumb is to not use SnD until you get dual wield spec - which is after lvl 30, just because mobs before that level usually do not have enough health to withstand 5CP evis (though there are exceptions with high armor+health like bears)

Nice! Gonna help alot when I get my first talent point!

You totally forgot to spec into "sword specialization" if you're going into that route there's no point going into lethality at all in assassination. If you drop lethality for sword spec in combat you're damage increases because the extra swing attacks were amazing back in the day.

I only played a 19 twink rogue in vanilla, what's best for weapon setup, slow MH fast OH, or vice-versa?

Why is it that
no where
in this article does it even mention
anything
about lock picking? It's a crucial social skill to posses and yet the article is completely devoid of its mere existence, let alone the fact that it's quite painful to have to go back and level up later if you don't do it while leveling up your character.
For those who arrive at this same puzzling question, here's a good answer:
https://vanillaguides.com/2018/07/30/1-300-lockpicking-guide-for-vanilla-world-of-warcraft-wow-classic/
You gain lock-picking at level 16.
Pick-pocketing guide:

3 of 5 stars just for the omission.

If you always have a sword mainhand while leveling, is Sword Specialization slightly better than Aggression + Weapon Expertise?

One thing that I found useful while leveling is to level with sword MH dagger OH. It basically levels both weapon skills simultaneously + you get to use abilities that requires dagger more often.
I have made macros that swaps my MH and OH weapon when I use Ambush/Backstab and swaps it back once you start using Sinister Strike.
Macro:
#showtooltip Sinister Strike
/equipslot 16 Outlaw Sabre
/equipslot 17 Swinetusk Shank
/cast Sinister STrike
#showtooltip Ambush
/equipslot 16 Swinetusk Shank
/equipslot 17 Outlaw Sabre
/cast Ambush(Rank 2)
#showtooltip Backstab(Rank 4)
/equipslot 16 Swinetusk Shank
/equipslot 17 Outlaw Sabre
/cast Backstab(Rank 4)
Slot 16 is your MH slot, and slot 17 is your OH slot. Replace names of weapons in macros with names of your weapons. Also, if you are using sword/sword and have a good dagger in your backpack, you can put that dagger in the macro, just don't change the slot 17 part.
Just note that you will have 1 GCD delay each time you swap a weapon.

I hope this won't resulte in a duplicate post - my previous one seems to have gotten lost.
Anyway, I think Subtlety is underappreciated as a levelling spec. The Combat heavy spec that is most often presented as the "standard" levelling spec strikes me more like someone took a raid spec and adapted it for levelling.
But for levelling, you don't want sustained DPS, you want burst. And for that I have found a build centered around Improved Ambush / Opportunity / Remorseless Attacks build to be far superior, especially if you pickpocket a lot. You'll also want Camoflauge (time spent running is a big factor in levelling).
From there, I like to add Initiative, Serrated Blades and Hemo. From there you can go into either Combat or Assassination (I prefer the latter)
One thing to note is that this build doesn't really work before lvl 25. And after lvl 52, you may want to respec into Seal Fate / Imp. Ambush.

Recommending people use Eviscerate in pve? Your sword variate doesn't have Sword Specialization? LoL Flat out awful guide. Move those points from Imp. Eviscerate to Imp. Slice and Dice. Get decent swords, use Sinister Strike/Slice and Dice while working your way to Sword Specialization. Please DO NOT follow this guide.

Agility=Spirit? wow, just wow...
Edit: So apparently parts of it have been updated, like just having a common variation of 60 combat rogue raiding spec as recommended... Riposte is so damn good solo that unless you were leveling in dungeons non stop it's just insane to not get it if you're going Combat, especially on a PvP server.
So, Riposte not taken and Spirit still apparently equal to Agility. You know what helps downtime for a Rogue? Having a skill that does 150% Weapon damage for 10 energy when parrying (not mention the parry pre req also gives you survivability and damage) and neutering the enemies damage if they have a weapon. Maybe just use bandages instead of treating Spirit like it's anything but a worthless stat to build for Rogues?

This guide just changed, so it propose 3 talent build depending on your tree you chose. Actually preferred the previous version of rogue combat build...
Here is mine, lvl 47 actually:
https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/rogue/005002-3200550100050130231/1BAFEhNrrrqVTw0Cff
Since I am playing on PVE I did not take endurance and improved sprint. Also, previous guide suggested to use riposte. I think the talent is worth it as 5% parry, a 10 energy attack, and 6sec half enemy damages give you and increased sustain.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the combat rotation for leveling, I have made an account to explain, what seem to me a more correct rotation:
1. Garrote or distant weapon engage.
2. Slice and dice
3. Sinister strike
4. End up with eviscerate, only if you have enough points to make more damage then your sinister strike
Use riposte when it trigger, use your cool-down adrenaline and blade furry as much as possible.
Once every other time, bandage to get your heal back. Finally, try to make yellow or green quests and enemies, avoid orange. If you fight orange, you will have to eat/bandage at every fight. If you fight yellow or orange, it is more like every 5-10 fights. And bandages have 1min cool-down.

Edit:
At low level, you can use and abuse of gouge: start at distance, sinister strike once or twice then gouge, walk away and start distance attack again, when the enemy is back at you, you will be full energy. I was able to solo a lvl 11 elite in elwynn forest at lvl 9 that way, in classic enemy won't lose agro until you stop attacking them, so you can kite them to spend less time eating at early levels. Also can use gouge to stun an enemy, when you are collecting a plant or bandaging.

Thanks for this guide. There are some very useful things in here that I will take with me. I just gotta say though, all these rogue guides and the users who comment are always focused around the Combat tree. Personally, I think all you Combat rogues are PVE nerds and you should be ashamed of yourself. Uninstall your damage meters, spec into Sub and go wreck &*!@. Sure, you can whip out some good dps while leveling but there are soooooooooooo many other encounters while leveling that are better suited to the Sub tree. PVP or avoiding pvp, sneaking past mobs to a quest item/npc, pickpocketing etc. Most importantly, as a sub rogue you will wreck all those nerdy PVE Combat rogues that are running around boasting about their dps while killing single mobs. And of course, leveling with your end game spec will give you great experience using your abilities that by the time your 60, you'll know every aspect of them.
So, consider this an intervention. Drop that Combat swords bs and spec subtlety. You wont be disappointed.

Hope my post helps someone. Ignore the online builds and guides (regarding weapons and talents) I have literally tried them all. While leveling as a rogue your damage is not going to be the problem, your a rogue. The problem is splitting mobs, movement (while stealthed) and figuring out the best rotation for damage (varies by encounter).
Worry about top dps builds for pvp and pve when you get to 60. While leveling you need survivability. Throw a couple of death runs in and all the dps gains in the world are not going to make up for your time lost during a run back to your corpse. You need, stealth, movement increase, dodge, parry and most important increase to hit. You will find all of these in the first few tiers of the talent trees in combat and subtlety.
In virtually every build 5 points in stealth is ignored for leveling. The amount of time (and deaths) you will save with it is crazy. You can literally walk through a mob while stealthed (sometimes). Camo is required unless you enjoy chasing mobs so you can start your first attack. Recommended talent 21/30 for leveling (combat/sub). Start in sub to Ghost strike at 20 then go to combat to get precision. Order from then on would be preference, do you want more survivability in preparation or more damage in duel wield (majority of our damage is white) so duel wield on short life open world mobs is way better than riposte.
Macro weapon swap. You should have a sword in main unless it's your opener then it must be dagger when stealthed then swap to sword after opener.
Macro
/equip "swordname"
/equip "daggername"
That's all you need it will swap mainland weapon between the two.
2nd Must have macro is pickpocket added to every opener so you get that extra gold on every humanoid attack.
Rest of the guide stuff is pretty accurate. Try the above you will not be disappointed. Note this build is for leveling and open world content if your going to dungeon level its not a great solution.
