This Mythic+ Route Guide for the Shrine of the Storm dungeon will take you through the best route to complete the dungeon and provide tips and tricks for the entire instance. This guide will assume that you are familiar with the basic mechanics from the
Shrine of the Storm Dungeon Ability Guide
.
Instance Breakdown
Recommended Comp for high keys:
There are several key interrupts that are made much easier with 1-2 melee. AoE stuns are also incredibly valuable.
Instance Timer:
42 minutes
Trash Route
Wait until the Templar pats toward you or just grab both packs of initiates and pop a minor tank cooldown (NOT RECOMMENDED ON BURSTING. DON'T GET ANY IDEAS).
The Templar has a frontal cleave and you should purge or spellsteal their Tidal Surge cast.
The Attendants are a bit like my little brother - harmless but a bit annoying. Move out of the blue swirls and AoE them down with the Animated Droplets.
Bolstering Tip:
Yellow mobs won't bolster red mobs and vice versa so this actually isn't a very dangerous pack on Bolstering.
Bursting Tip
Yellow mobs do burst and this pack is incredibly dangerous. There are two ways to handle it.
Kill the pack in three sets of 4-5 bursting stacks. Wait until they completely fall off before you kill another mob.
Kill them all together while your healer sits at the start of the instance. Release and proceed through the instance. This can actually be safer because it's four clean deaths and a dead pack.
The Spiritualists are ultra dangerous mobs that have a potent heal cast that
must
be interrupted or purged at all times (it's a hot). Don't pull more than you can interrupt.
The Living Current will cast Rising Tides, a big knockup / stun that
can be line of sighted
.
Remember to interrupt the Mending Rapids cast. You can pull the second set of twelve droplets if it's not bursting / bolstering.
Key Interrupt: Tempest (Or just dodge the tornadoes)
Miniboss: Windspeaker Heldis
Stand in the haste zone she summons. Make sure you drag the boss
out
of the zone so that she doesn't get the buff herself. You can't do anything about her Gale Winds cast except heal through it. It shouldn't be too much of a bother.
You can hypothetically drag her with you to abuse the haste buff on later trash. This has the downside of preventing your healer from drinking so consider it carefully.
The Ironhull apprentices have a frontal cleave and a self-buff that makes them move slowly but deal double damage. You'll want to kite them during Fortified weeks (or the tank can stand in the damage reduction rune mentioned below).
Miniboss: Runecarver Sorn
DPS. Healers.
Stand in the giant damage reduction rune at all times.
The boss will channel a ridiculous single target nuke on a random target. If you're in the rune you'll live, if not you'll need a res. There is no downside to standing in the rune for the entire fight. The tank should make sure the miniboss and associated trash are
not
standing in the rune.
Miniboss: Guardian Elemental
The Mariner of BFA. Deals heavy persistent AoE damage to all party members. Use your defensives. Make it easier on your healer. Will also cast a
nasty
magic debuff that must be immediately dispelled.
The initiates aren't very dangerous but the mob density here is high. Use your own judgement but given the high number of casters you probably don't want more than two packs at a time.
-
Key Interrupt: Unending Darkness (Deepsea Ritualist, heavy AoE + inc shad dmg taken).
Purge / Mass Dispel the shields off the skeletons if available but you really have no excuse here for letting an Unending Darkness cast go through. It will kill you. You will wipe. Your pug hunter will randomly leave the key.
Another Deepsea Ritualist, another chance for perfect interrupts on Unending Darkness. I can give you a second to bind your interrupt if you need it. I'll wait.
The Tidesage Enforcers toss blue swirls all over the platform. Very dangerous if you get hit, but you won't. I believe in you.
The Abyss Dwellers will summon tentacles all over the place for you to AoE down. They're otherwise not particularly dangerous.
You're going to invis pot or shroud here and skip every trash mob on the bridge. It's slow to kill, dangerous and we don't need it for trash percentage.
This isn't too tight an invis pot timer, but hang to the left since that's the door you'll be entering at the end.
AoE down one side. Have one party member run to the boss to start the RP since it's pretty long and you'll want to minimize time you spend waiting around.
You can pull the eels to the shore so you don't have to fight them underwater. They don't do anything interesting. Just keep the tank alive and use your AoE CC.
Assign one interrupt to each Forgotten Denizen. If they complete their cast they'll heal to full and deal AoE damage. The heal to full is really bad when you probably only have 3-4 minutes left on your key timer.
The sunken denizen moves slowly but hits the tank really really hard. In most cases you'll just stand and tank it to keep it in cleave range but kiting is an option if it's a high key.
Method Dungeon Tools
The following import string will import the route into the Method Dungeon Tools addon giving you access to it in-game. Method Dungeon Tools allows you to pre-plan routes and share them with party members.
Bosses
Aqu'sirr
A literal mythical being called to defend the shrine. Yet, easier than half the trash in the instance.

Boss splits into three
You should know
Surging Rush targets a random direction and after a long four second cast he'll quickly murder anyone in his way. Rotate around the boss during the cast. He sometimes hits the space directly behind him as he charges so just take a step backwards. It's a very easy mechanic, but it can sometimes sneak up on you. You can make a very loud weak aura to track it if it gives you trouble.
When an ally is gripped by the Grasp of the Depths you'll release them by cleaving the tentacles down. They have very little health. Several classes can get out for free by shapeshifting, blinking or casting Blessing of Freedom.
Dispel:
Choking Brine. Upon dispel it'll form little blue circles around the character. You can run out before you get dispelled to avoid the possibility that anyone gets hit but it's more DPS efficient to just dodge it.
At 50% life the boss will split into three baby Aqu'sirrs. This is where the Surging Rush becomes particularly dangerous because you're focusing on three at a time. Make your weak aura louder still, and prioritize movement over all else.

The Basics
Whenever Faye finishes a Slicing Blast cast you'll all get a debuff that increases your nature damage taken by 15%. It stacks and can only be removed by standing in the large Reinforcing Wards summoned by Brother Ironhull. You'll want to stand all of these since not only does it remove your stacks but it also prevents you from gaining any new ones while you're in it. That means you don't have to interrupt casts while it's active.
Brother Ironhull has a huge frontal cleave. The tank should take care to face him away from the party. He won't move once he starts the cast so the tank themselves can sidestep it.
Interrupting Faye while she has Blessing of the Tempest active will spawn dangerous tornados. It's inevitable that you'll need to spawn some so you'll need to dodge them.
Tank:
During Blessing of Ironsides you need to kite the boss. He'll have a 50% slow and you can use any mobility cooldowns you have to make it easier.'
Stand in the Swiftness Ward for 25% extra haste.
Nice.
Boss Strategy
This is a rough fight even when performed correctly and there are a lot of "bad" strategies that are going to land you in the pond pretty quickly so let's look at how this fight should be done.
Face Ironhull away from the party but keep both bosses on top of each other. You need to maximise your cleave damage.
You're killing Galecaller Faye first. Cleave and multi-DoT but your focus stays on Faye.
Communicate your interrupts. With a double melee comp you are able to get
every single Slicing Blast.
If you're running just one melee then let through any Slicing Blast cast while Blessing of the Tempest or Blessing of Ironsides are active. If you have no melee then... select a different key to run.

You should know
There is honestly very little to this boss. It's strategically very simple, though mistakes will be punished heavily.
If you're MC'd:
Eat all the balls.
If you're not MC'd:
Eat
no balls.
You'll need to DPS the first person to get mind controlled. There aren't many balls out for the first one. Add a little to subsequent MC's as well. If you don't get them out within 20 seconds it's permanent. Any DoT's you drop on them persist after they break out and your healer is already using their dispel on this fight. A Moonfire is fine but loading them up with every DoT you have isn't.
Healer:
Mind Rend does massive up front damage and then a smaller but less significant DoT. You are always better off dispelling before you start healing them. Once dispelled they shouldn't take any immediate damage so you can heal them back up at your leisure.
Tank:
Most of the bosses damage is Magic. It isn't
too
much and you'll mostly be the only one taking damage so you'll get good healer focus (unless you see them in Cat Form).

You should know
Avoid the purple tentacles. They deal significant damage.
The boss will send you to the shadow sunken realm when he reaches 100 energy. He gains energy over time and whenever an add hits the boss (which we're
not
going to let happen). The boss starts with his energy bar a little over half full so your first will occur more quickly than the rest.
First banishment:
20 seconds into the fight.
Subsequent banishments:
~60 seconds once you interrupt his Grasp of the Sunken City cast.
With a fully stacked Whispers of Power buff you should aim to kill him after your first banishment and getting sent down a second time will greatly hurt your chances at timing a high key.
Starting after your first trip below the boss will summon five small Manifestation adds. They don't have an aggro table and will walk toward the boss. If you kill them, or they reach the boss, then they'll explode. This will lightly burn your DPS and insta-kill your 10 stack healer.
Key Mechanic: Whispers of Power
Whispers of Power is now healer-only as of Season 2. It's a stacking damage buff that also reduces max health. This is a great mechanic because it lets your healer choose what level of risk they're willing to accept for greatly increased damage / healing throughput. On high keys you're definitely letting it stack to ten and keeping it there but on lower keys you can decide how you want to play it.
We're going to assume from here on that you're brave and the right amount of crazy. You have ten stacks. This is what will now one shot you:
Tentacles that spawn from the floor. They have a glowing purple "hit zone" that lasts for a few seconds before they slam down.
A single Manifestation of the Deep add reaching the boss or dying (they deal party wide AoE in both cases).
A Consume Essence cast finishing while you're in the same realm as the DPS. It won't hurt you if you're still chipping away at your add in the
other
sunken realm.
Standing in the large black Yawning Gate circles.
Affix notes:
Whispers of Power no longer interacts poorly with Grievous, Quaking or Bursting (if you're pulling trash with the boss for some reason).

At Mythic Keystone level 10, the special 4th affix is added to every single Keystone Level 10 or higher. For Season 2 that affix is
收割
.
At the beginning of the dungeon and after every boss that you defeat, Bwonsamdi will teleport in.
After the dungeon's timer has expired (excluding deaths), Bwonsamdi offers you a bargain to "Serve Bwonsamdi in life and death" and accepting will earn you the
邦桑迪的交易
buff for the
remainder of the dungeon
.
At 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% of the Enemy Forces bar, the environment will change and you'll hear Bwonsamdi yell "Rise!"
Bwonsamdi resurrects all mobs that you've defeated since the last resurrection. All the zombies will then attack you at the same time with different sets of abilities and a smaller health pool.
All Bwonzombies have the following properties.
Each Bwonzombie will look like the mob that it spawned from.
However, it only has access to new abilities based on which type of Bwonzombie it is.
A Bwonzombie's health pool will be 50% of the health that the zombie spawned from.
Bwonzombies are not affected by any Affixes, except for the health interaction mentioned above.
Bwonzombies will not proximity aggro other alive mobs.
Leaving combat with Bwonzombies, will cause them to return to the location where they spawned.
Bwonzombies do not have True Sight, have a massive aggro radius and will automatically aggro the group on every Reaping wave.
There are only 3 types of Bwonzombies:
复生之魂
,
被折磨的幽魂
and
失落的灵魂
. Each type of Bwonzombie has a specific set of spells that it can cast.

Dispel/Purge Guide
The Battle for Azeroth dungeons also include many more abilities that can only be dispelled by a certain dispel type or offensively purged off a mob. This expansion also marks the return of Enrage effects and abilities that remove Enrage effects and we've made a
Dispels and Purge Guide for BFA's Dungeons
to help you decide what to dispel.
This guide details which specs can handle magic purges, Enrage removal, magic debuffs, poison debuffs, curse debuffs, and disease debuffs. Then, the guide lists all the abilities that can be dispelled and offensively purged in the 10 current Battle for Azeroth dungeons, classified and color-coded into low, medium, and high priority. If you're upset that
