Classic WoW is split into multiple phases, roughly correlating to the patch cycles of Vanilla WoW, in order to give players time to enjoy each activity, without content rewards competing with each other. This guide will provide an overview of which activities are being added in each content update, as well as important changes to loot tables and other information regarding to each Phase of Classic WoW.
Classic Patch 1.13
WoW Classic runs on Patch 1.13, a brand new version number based off of the last Vanilla patch before
The Burning Crusade
, 1.12.2. While the class design, tuning, and spell effects all match the Vanilla reference, the main difference between the two is the absence of late-game content.
This means that all Classic content will be played with end-of-Vanilla changes, whereas historically those changes were made over time. In Vanilla, the Fury Warrior talent

was not changed from an activated buff into a direct damage attack until the release of Blackwing Lair with Patch 1.6. In Classic, the initial version never exists, as it starts off the later version. Likewise, Rogue and Warrior weapon damage attacks are all normalized from the start in Classic, a change that did not actually occur until Patch 1.8 in Vanilla.
These changes will cause a slightly different experience from the one veteran players might remember, as those changes lead to different strategies, tuning, and mechanics than what may have been prominent at the time.
The Phases of Classic WoW
World of Warcraft Classic has been split into 6 distinct phases, roughly following the original vanilla content cycle, in order to give players time to experience content without greater rewards from later activities devaluing earlier ones, such as the PvP Honor System and Battleground gear outclassing much of the Molten Core raid gear. Several content releases have shifted, releasing earlier than their planned phase in order to help smooth out activities and content cycles. For example, the first Battlegrounds (Alterac Valley & Warsong Gulch) released on December 10th, ahead of the planned release of Phase 3 on February 12th. The below phases have been adjusted, with actual release dates listed accordingly.
Phase 1 - Onyxia and Molten Core - Released August 26th, 2019
Mimics the initial Vanilla content, with raids open from the onset for any player who manages to level up an complete the required attunements. Maraudon was not actually added until Patch 1.2.0, but it falls within the leveling process, with several of its items being considered Pre-BiS for many classes such as the

Although
逐风者禁锢之颅
are obtainable, the legendary weapon
雷霆之怒,逐风者的祝福之剑
cannot be made until the release of Blackwing Lair in Phase 3.
萨弗拉斯,炎魔拉格纳罗斯之手
is the only legendary available during Phase 1 or 2.
Dire Maul was released early on October 15th, ahead of it's scheduled release during Phase 2.

Phase 2 - Release Date: November 12th, 2019 - Honor System and World Bosses
Largely revolves around the open world, adding the Honor System and several world bosses for players to compete over. While open-world PvP is enabled in Phase 1, the system which tracks honorable kills, assigns PvP ranks, and rewards will not be active until Phase 2. Blizzard has also confirmed that Dishonorable Kills will be enabled, as they were not removed until

pre-patch, 2.0.1.
While the Honor system "point" curve was adjusted in Patch 1.12.0 in order to allow more players into each rank bracket, we currently have no information if Phase 2 will use the initial and more stringent setup, or the adjusted values from the later patch. Battlegrounds are also not available until Phase 3, so the only way to accrue Honor will be through Open World PvP, which is expected to once again create hotspots such as Tarren Mill v Southshore.

While intended to be included with Phase 3, Battlegrounds were released early on December 10th. Battlegrounds introduce a significant change in Honor methodology, as the instanced combat removes the possibility for dishonorable kills and shifts combat away from open world zones. Battlegrounds follow Patch 1.12 changes, which include cross-realm queues to alleviate lopsided queue times due to imbalanced server/faction populations.

Phase 3 - Release Date: February 12th - Blackwing Lair
The Darkmoon Faire opened just a few days ahead of Phase 3 and Blackwing Lair, offering players a jumpstart on collecting Darkmoon Cards from various dungeons which combine to form decks awarding new trinkets. In Classic, the Faire is not instanced, allowing PvP combat.
Blackwing Lair also opened, allowing players to finish Tier 2 sets and obtain

Phase 5 - Release Date - Ahn'Qiraj
Starts the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj event, updated the Silithus area with new quests, reputation, and rewards, as well as beginning the server-wide war efforts and

questline, culminating in the opening of Ahn'Qiraj on a server-by-server basis, at which point both the 20 and 40 man raids will be available to players. This means that each server will open the raid at different times, with smaller servers taking much longer to gather enough materials to supply the war effort.
The loot revamp adds Relics and new gear drops to various existing high-level dungeons (BRD and higher), in addition to regular drops (including several new crafting recipes) coming in the new raids. See the Loot Differences section below for more information on precisely what items are added where. Dungeon Tier 0.5 armor set quests will also become available.
Phase 5 will release on July 28th, 2020.

Phase 6 - Release Date - Naxxramas
The final phase of Classic WoW introduces the Scourge Invasion, a worldwide event in which several high-level zones come under attack by Scourge forces from the flying necropolis. This phase adds a large number of rewards tied to the Argent Dawn, as well as the opening of Naxxramas itself.
Additionally, world PvP objectives are added in Eastern Plaguelands and Silithus to encourage more PvP in high-level zones without civilians or low-level players, aimed at reducing the frequency and impact of dishonorable kills.
Currently, we do not know the release date of Phase 6.

Loot Differences
Due to the nature of later content introducing new loot, Blizzard has made several interesting decisions regarding when specific loot is made available. During Vanilla, several patches introduced new loot to already open dungeons and raids, such as Patch 1.4 adding

to Molten Core, several months after the instance had opened.
While Patch 1.4 would correspond to Phase 2 in the Classic content cycle, the majority of these items are already available from the start of Phase 1, in order to both promote those activities and not require players to go back to farm the items in later phases. A good example of this is the obscenely low drop rate

items, which were not added until BWL released in Patch 1.6, but can drop in Phase 1, even though the legendary weapon

cannot be created until Phase 3.

Patch 1.10 overhauled several dungeon loot tables with the addition of Relic-slot items for Druids (Idols), Paladins (Librams), and Shaman (Totems). While all of these items are slated to be added in the Loot Overhaul of Phase 5, Patch 1.10 also caused several existing items to change sources, such as

in Blackrock Depths moving from General Angerforge to Emperor Thaurissan. We do not currently know if that will happen again, or if those existing items will remain where they are, with only the new items being added.
Some What is being added when in Classic is a bit inconsistent, but we've provided a list of known information below:
Based on Molten Core loot tables (see collapsed tab above), future raids are expected to have their complete Patch 1.12 loot tables on release, rather than having additional loot added over time.
Conversely, several reputation items from

are not available in Phase 1, and are
expected
to be added in Phase 3 (see collapsed tab above).
Relics will be added to dungeons and raids in Phase 5.
Several other drops were adjusted in Patch 1.10, such as

in Blackrock Depths moving from General Angerforge to Emperor Thaurissan. This would correlate with Phase 5 in Classic, though it is unknown whether they actually will change drop locations or not.
Dungeon Tier 0 (Valor, Dreadmist, etc) sets include BoE pieces and have their Patch 1.10 adjusted set bonuses from the start of Phase 1.
Upgraded dungeon Tier 0.5 set quests will not be available until Phase 5.
Bugs
In the spirit of #nochanges, the intent is to recreate the Vanilla Patch 1.12 environment, which means bugs and quirky interactions present at the time will be recreated rather than fixed. There have been a very few exceptions however, most notably the
Hunter "Caster Pet" glitch
which caused certain pets to have inferior attributes compared to other creatures in the same family, which caused them to be devalued and disregarded by serious players. While this was a Vanilla bug, it seems to be an exception due to fixing it not impacting gameplay, tuning, or performance. As each of those pets had a "non-caster" version in the same family which was strictly superior.
We assume these changes are evaluated on a case by case basis relative to their impact on the game, and so far no other bug fix changes from vanilla have been reported, though several features have been added to the
Classic "Not A Bug" list
.
