This guide will no longer be good once Shadowlands comes out, and we have the level squish.
Though some information will still be good for upcoming alt and allied leveling most won't be true anymore.
Please note that this guide is primarily focused on use the quest mechanics to level your character, and not relying on dungeons or carries. I may add more details for those later on.
Blizzard has introduced Allied Races to Azeroth, and to get your Heritage Armor you need to level one of the specific race from 20 to max level. Patch 7.3.5 also brought changes to leveling with scaling and changes to heirlooms. So I decided I would create this guide to help you get you started on your way with some tips and suggestions.
To earn the Heritage Armor you can't do the following:
Boost you character using the paid boost.
Grant your character levels from the RAF.
Race change another alt to the race.
This guide is a work in progress.
As more information about the Allied Races is published, I will try and get it added it. Any tips or suggestions I find or stumble across while leveling my Allied Races I will post here. I wanted to get a base down so people could start using it to get started.
Available Allied Races
These are the current Alliance Allied Races that are currently playable or soon will be following the expansion or patch. At this time 4 have already been released before or with Battle for Azeroth.
There has been discussion that Blizzard will release more Allied races in upcoming patches and expansions for us to play. However, at this time there is no details of anything past the current 4 races.

Best Leveling Classes
These are the top 3 that I have found to level fairly fast and/or easy.
To be clear you can play and level any class that is available to your allied race. These are just suggestions on the easiest and/or fastest classes to level if your primary focus is to get in, level, and be done with it.
Remember that you can level your Allied Race character on a new realm if you want. So if you don't want a dozen monks on your main server you can level on others.
启迪
buff that you can stack up to multiple hours (from a daily quest)
启迪
does stack with heirloom exp while RaF bonus no longer does
Tank, healing, and DPS Spec - specifically tank if you want to do dungeons
As a head's up for those of you who are saving up your
启迪
buff to get a good 24 hours stack. Be aware during patches and expansions that it will get reset on you. Found this out the hard way with 8.0.1 prepatch.
With a new patch upgrading an expansion, class talents, abilities and skills get reset. This will clear buffs such as the Enlightenment buff from monks. I'm afraid that we cannot get the stacks back. Keep in mind that the stacks will likely be wiped with the launch of the full expansion in a month too.
Spec Suggestion
Mistweaver
Windwalker
Hunters are easier to play
Hunter pet allows for additional damage or tank
Has healing for both self and pet along with FD to help drop aggro
Spec Suggestion
Beast Master
Survival
Many collection quest does not take you out of flight form
Portal to Moonglade
Stealth for sneaking around places
Tank, healing, and DPS Spec - specifically tank
Instant flight/mount form
Spec Suggestion
Feral
Balance
If you are just wanting to hit max to get the Heritage Armor and nothing else - roll a monk. Why you ask? Simple, it's just better.
First off monks can play DPS, healer and tank. Well, so can druids!
Yes, but a major benefit to monks over druids is
启迪
. This increases your exp earned by quest and killing by 50%. So how much of a difference can that make?
The image to the left is a test I am doing. I started a Highmountain Tauren Druid and a Nighborne Elf Monk at the same time. I gave them the exact same heirlooms, and set them in Orgrimmar to gain rested exp. Once a week or two past I ran both of them through the fishing and cooking dailies in Orgrimmar. They both have done the same amount of dailies as the other. The only difference is the monk does the enlightenment quests for monks (both at every 10th level and daily when not broken). After 8 days of /played you can see there is a big level gap. 10 levels! So
启迪
does make a large difference in leveling.
What you need
To help you level your alts as fast and smoothly as possible the following are some help bits to get you on your way. None of the tips or suggestions are required for you to do to be successful in leveling to 110 (soon 120) with your new Allied race. Also be aware that a lot of the suggestion and tips assume you may have a bit of gold laying around or have alts with spare mats that need used up. The good news is is that your first Allied Race character is going to be the most costly and hardest. Many of the suggestions and tips will then be available for the next one you level.
A lot of people did not finish Pathfinder for Warlord, and depending on how many Allied Races you plan to level from 20-max level you may consider finishing it up to help with leveling through those areas.
I have a level 85 that I use only for enchanting my heirlooms. Since you can send enchanted heirlooms cross faction and cross realms you only need one of these. I get her to enchant all the pieces I can, and mail them to my new character.
Now you'll want to equip your heirlooms as soon as you log into your freshly created character. This will give you 50-55% experience boost.
I use this set the most because I am leveling a lot of monks at this time. If you are as well, pick a set and only level it up to 90, 100, 110, 120 to help save on gold. The armor on alts should level up when the armor piece is without having to create a new one. It will cost (not including the 2nd ring, weapons, necklace, or trinkets) to level all 6 pieces from 60 to 120. You can also use other currencies like
时空扭曲徽章
,
奶糖
,
燃烧之花
, or
先祖硬币
to level up your armor.
脏污的迅影罩帽

脏污的迅影肩甲

or
第三舰队玺戒
海狼之戒
***
* Or equivalent to for the armor class you are playing.
** Any of the cloak are fine to use.
*** If you have this go ahead and equip it as well for the additional 5%.
This guide is assuming you have already gotten these on your main characters, but if you don't have these already; it will cost you - and 0
暗月奖券
to 0
暗月奖券
. For one of the rings, you will need to complete one of three specific rare ship treasure missions in your Garrison Shipyard:
顺我者昌
,
看在仇恨的份上
, and/or
海的女儿
. For the 2nd ring you will need to win the STV Fishing Extravaganza.
You can also include a weapon to use when leveling as some dailies may require you to kill something, and monk dailies is a sparring match. I use 2x
破旧的雷德神圣控诉者
, but that's because I also use them to level my other playing alts that use 1hd swords.
For a deeper dive into your heirlooms, how much, and where to get them check out
Heirloom Collections Guide
. Xabidar covers all your heirloom info there.
These enchants are for if you are going with one of the suggested classes; a Monk, Druid, or Hunter. If you can't get your hands on all Versatility you can add in some Haste enchants as well, but suggest not to only use Haste.

神秘的元素短裙
leveled to level 90 (1/3) and
无光泽的毁灭护腿

Here are some additional items that could help you with your leveling. They are not required, and will either take some time or a bit of gold to obtain. However, none of the suggestions are required to level your allied races.
• Have
天蓝水黾缰绳
or
猩红水黾缰绳
垂钓翁的踏水板
or
充气护蹄
to make crossing water easier.
• Have
旅行者的苔原猛犸象缰绳
or
雄壮远足牦牛缰绳
so you don't have to waste time going back to town for selling or repairs.
• Earn
德拉诺探路者
as well as
破碎群岛探路者,第一章
and
破碎群岛探路者,第二章
.
• Grab food, scrolls, and elixirs. At lower levels these can make a big difference.
全能卷轴
and
次级敏捷药剂
to start.
• Have a stack or two of
地精滑翔器工具包
on you. These are great for when you can't fly.
• Get heirloom flightmaster books from
克罗姆·粗臂
/
艾斯特蕾·根德瑞
for each (total ). You only need to buy the set for one faction. When added to your toybox the equivalent for the other faction will appear.
Alliance:

• It may be best to hold off leveling your alts from 110 to 120, if you can, until you have
争霸艾泽拉斯探路者,第一章
and
争霸艾泽拉斯探路者,第二章
. If you can't wait make sure to do
争霸艾泽拉斯探路者,第一章
and get
第七军团侦察地图
/
荣耀战团侦察地图
. This item does not get used up when you use it, and so it can be used for multiple characters. Best yet it's like heirlooms and can be sent cross faction and cross realm!
• Have about to send your new alt for flying. Depending on how fast you level you don't have to do this all in one go.
• Bag space is very good to have early on. If you have a tailor, consider going back to your garrison and crafting up 4 or so
妖纹包
. You don't need to worry about your bank bags just yet.
• Buy or do some Missions to get a few
巨大的食人魔箱子
to set your alt up with plenty of resources to buy a few
大瓶快速学习药水
.
• If you have spare 0
第七军团服役勋章
/ 0
荣耀战团服役勋章
consider buying some
十地饮剂
/
十地饮剂
to give you an additional 10% exp and + 10 stats for an hour.
• It has also been suggested to get a
浮游红电气石
for the 5% exp increase. However, you may not be able to use this until a higher level as you need an item level 200 with a socket.
• It may not seem like a lot at end game, but when lower level travel speed is sloooooooow. Consider grabbing some of these:
秘银马刺
,
初级速度
, or
骑术
for level 20 to 70 (if you get more than one of these, double check to see if they stack). I would skip out on the
马鞭
as that will just be for level 69 to 70, which may not be worth the mats to make.
Warmode will give you an experience boost for turning PvP on. You can have between 10-30% experience boost. This percentage changes and is based on faction balance of using Warmode (i.e. the more your faction has using Warmode the lower your % is, and vise verse). My Horde characters have been at 10% across all the realms I play on, and my Alliance characters went from 30% to 15% back up to 20%.
Even only getting 10% it may be worth it to turn it on. However, since you are questing and if you are not use to PvP it may not be worth it. You will need to balance the possible frustration of being killed and camped over that extra exp boost.
TIP:
While at the Peak of Serenity (for the Monk Dailies) you will not be able to attack or be attacked by others in Warmode.
Here is an macro that you can add to your toolbar to make it easier to swap between having Warmode on and off. You still need to be in the proper locations for it to toggle.
/run C_PvP.ToggleWarMode();
These are some suggested addons that could help speed up or make the leveling experience a bit more enjoyable. You do not have to use all of them or even any of them. Please be aware that using all of them may cause errors as some of the addons do the same thing as others, and are posted to give options.

Here are some additional tips that I found made leveling a bit easier while leveling my allied races. You do not need to do them, but it could help you out a bit if you did.
• Set your character down in a "rested" area and logout when you are finished playing it. Don't level until you have max rested exp.
• Cycle through characters will help you not to get bored, and allow them to build rested exp.
• Let your monk get max
启迪
stacked. Do this with all the monks you are leveling so they will be good to go when you get to them. You should gain a few levels by the time you get max stacked, and if you add in the daily fishing and cooking that's even more exp daily for little work and time.
• Get herbalism and mining as your profession for the extra exp you earn from them.
• Also do Archeology. It gives you some good exp as well, but don't go out of the way to do it.
•
Consider leveling up your cooking. You can do this while very low level by being ported to your faction hub in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, and then getting a ride on a 2-person over to Halfhill. Bring , 42
金色鲤鱼
, and 2
野雉胸肉
to level from 1 to 525 with
孙行·铁掌
.
• While under level 80, try to logout in a capital city. This way you can start out by doing fishing and cooking dailies each time you play. Gives you exp and up your skills plus a bit of rep if you need it.
• Use your
炉石
wisely. This can cut down on a lot of traveling. You may also want to get into a guild to decrease the CD on it.
• Why we're talking about Hearthstone, consider using one of the hearth toys instead to save a spot in your bag.
旅店老板的女儿
,
城镇传送之书
,
虚灵之门
,
黑暗之门
,
无头骑士的炉石
,
冬天爷爷的炉石
,
小匹德菲特的可爱炉石
,
春节长者的炉石
. Plus you exit with style! (Note: some of them may not be in-game at this time).
• Suggested using Warlord enchants over Legion as the level scaling is better and are often times cheaper.
• Only enchant Heirloom gear, and make sure you have maxed it's level except for legs, shoulders and bow/gun should have one leveled to 1/3 (level 90) if you are enchanting them.
• If you want that extra 5% try and get the
海狼之戒
. Otherwise you'll be sitting with a 50% increase from heirlooms alone. Remember you can stack from events like DFM.
• Versatility = more damage out and less damage in.
• Most of the Armor Kits will not allow another character to put them on your low level anymore, through the trade window. Use an 85+ character on your account, and use it on a piece that is upgraded 1/3 (level 90). Then mail the heirloom from the higher level to your leveling character.
• Once you get to Timeless Isle level, consider spending a few minutes and farm the
狂乱水晶
. It's +14 to all stats for an hour. Best way to get this is to loot
诡异水晶
found in Cavern of Lost Spirits.
• Might be worth it to join a guild (if you don't have a bank guild) for the perks that they still have:
骑乘加速
and
急速炉石
. Be aware that with the squelching you may not get an invite for a long while.
• Remember to not delete the heirloom armor you enchant. Heirlooms are account bound so you can mailed to other alts to use (this includes cross faction and cross realms). So if you are leveling more than one alt you can reuse the already enchanted armor, if same armor class, on you alts.
• Keep an eye on holidays and events that can get you extra exp. For example,
暗月马戏团
,
万圣节
, or
仲夏火焰节
. All of which have some kind of exp boost.
• With heirlooms now going up to 120, I feel the extra 30% exp is worth it over the Azerite gear you get at lower levels (head, chest, and shoulder slots). When you get closer to 120 save some Azerite gear you get from questing to use while you farm better gear.
Leveling Route - Alliance
The following is just suggestion on the path to take to get you from 20 to max level. You are more than welcome to do the zones you enjoy or prefer. There is no real wrong way when choosing which zones to level in.
Alliance does have a lot of good zones to choose from in the leveling 20-60 phase. However, as mentioned before some have better benefits than others.
You are not barred from running dungeons, but would suggest making sure to do the quests in them if you chose to go the path, and once in Legion to only do them once you have the quest for them.
Start with zones that were originally for lower levels (level 10-20 zones). Quests and questing hubs were set up with not being able to use mounts in mind.
Do zones you are familiar with. This will help you know where quest items are and NPCs.
Below are maps of the zones with a rough pathing for the quest hubs, and the ideal order to do them in.
• Eastern Kingdom - Westfall
• Eastern Kingdom - Redridge
• Eastern Kingdom - Northren Stranglethorn
• Eastern Kingdom - Cape of Stranglethorn
• Eastern Kingdom - Western Plaguelands
• Eastern Kingdom - Eastern Plaguelands
• Eastern Kingdom - Loch Mordan
• Kalimdor - Darkshore
• Kalimdor - Felwood
Northrend is a better option because of quest layout when compared to Outland.
When doing Northrend choose zones that weren't created for flying before those that were.
After Sholazar Basin you can pretty much pick of the remaining zones.
If doing Outland Nagrand and Zangermarsh should be your go to zones.
Below are maps of the zones with a rough pathing for the quest hubs, and the ideal order to do them in.
• Northrend - Borean Tundra
• Northrend - Dragonblight
• Northrend - Grizzly Hills
• Northrend - Sholazar Basin
• Northrend - Icecrown
• Northrend - or Zul'Drak
This is a good time to mix and match between the two.
Skip zones with a lot of cutscenes.
The Jade Forst until you are
well into level 88
, and then finish off with Deepholm.
If after Deepholm you aren't 90, or you don't like Deepholm you can do Valley of the Four Winds.
Below are maps of the zones with a rough pathing for the quest hubs, and the ideal order to do them in.
• Kalimdor - Mount Hyjal
• Pandaria - The Jade Forest
• Malestrom - Deepoholm
Don't forget to buy and have on hand
大瓶快速学习药水
. You buy them from
克劳勒中士
/
格里姆加中士
for 0
要塞物资
. This is a 20% exp boost.
If you haven't already, train
考古学
. You only need 1 skill point. You should have gotten this at lower level for the extra exp from doing these.
In your Garrison, make sure you have a
兽栏等级1
so that you can remain mounted while interacting with objects in outdoor Draenor zones.
Don't forget to go get your Artifact weapon at level 98, but then return to Draenor to finish up to 100.
Skip the Intro by using the port from Timeless Isles to Gorgrond. You can do this for about 1 level if you want.
1. Do your starting zone.
2. Do all the bonus objectives, and gather treasures throughout all zones. Don't forget to drop your Guild Standards before picking up a treasure if you have one. Since more than likely you aren't trying to race an exp buff you can grab those more out of the way treasures. Flying makes this a lot easier, and you may want to path out going between bonus objectives and treasures. Something like this:
3. If you want also kill rares when you happen upon them.
4. Head to Spires of Arak at 96, and make sure you choose Brewery for your outpost to gain access to
宾至如归
's xp boost.
Do invasions when they are up.
1. Choose your favorite zones and start knocking them out.
2. Do invasions when they are up.
3. If you are not in a rush to level you can set your character down in their class hall and only do invasions. With heirlooms you should get about a level give or take. So 9-10 invasions.
4. Gather treasures. Since you don't need AP anymore for your weapon these are a bit worthless, but many do give a nice chunk of exp and some
职业大厅资源
. Some even give gold and items. I was able to get 3 levels doing this.
Some of the Allied races released in late BFA (Mechagnomes, etc.) will require you to go from 20-120 or higher. This sections will be for those, or if you want to continue leveling your characters on to a higher level.
Work in Progress.
Leveling Route - Horde
The following is just suggestion on the path to take to get you from 20 to max level. You are more than welcome to do the zones you enjoy or prefer. There is no real wrong way when choosing which zones to level in. Just some have more benefits over others.
However, it does appear that Eastern Kingdom has a good flow for Horde leveling. Horde does seem to have less good leveling places compared to Alliance in the early levels (20-60). So you may want to grab a dungeon or two and knock out the quests in those.
You are not barred from running dungeons, but would suggest making sure to do the quests in them if you chose to go the path, and once in Legion to only do them once you have the quest for them.

4. Gather treasures. Since you don't need AP anymore for your weapon these are a bit worthless, but many do give a nice chunk of exp and some
职业大厅资源
. Some even give gold and items. I was able to get 3 levels doing this.
Some of the Allied races released in late BFA (Vulpera, etc.) will require you to go from 20-120 or higher. This sections will be for those, or if you want to continue leveling your characters on to a higher level.
Work in Progress.
Help Prevent Burnout
Many people hate the leveling process, and after leveling multiple characters, not to mention grinding reps, and end content you might be feeling a bit burnt out. And as we look at BFA - there are 4 more known Allied races we will get. So if you want the Heritage Armor for those Allied races you're in for a bit of leveling grind. Here are a few tips to help keep you from burning out.
• Break up your leveling. Do some herb or mining, battle pets, battleground, and/or pugs. I usually grind quests until I run out of rested exp, and then work on some of my character's skills.
• Create a transmog for your character. I have found this helps me have more of a connection with my character, and helps make them not just another toon to level. As it creates more of a "personality" for the character. Plus if you don't have pieces it will give you something to work towards.
• Maybe give a bit of RPing or lore a try if it's something you never done. You don't need to sit in Goldshire, but maybe make a story for your character. What are their morals? What about family? What brought them to becoming an adventure? Maybe mimic their language when talking. Like for Zandalari use their dialect (e.g., Dey be comin for you, mon.). Play based on their morals or past. This may be different than you normally play, and different for each character. For example, are you willing to risk death and waste time to help that other player kill that rare, ride past, or stop and watch them possibly die?
• Yes, there has been proven paths to take that will get you from level 20 to max the fastest (as I have posted some suggestions above), but honestly, you don't have to follow that if you don't want to. Mix up zones you level in. Level in areas you enjoy either the story line, music, or scenery. Don't skip out on it just to rush through. And if you are leveling more than one allied race mix up which zones you do. If you are also doing the "lore" or RPing of your character (mentioned above) this may take you down a different path as well.
• Considering leveling multiple Allied Races at once. Jump between Horde and Alliance characters to help break up the leveling even more.
• Considering joining a new guild that your main isn't in. Meet new people! I found that the new guilds I have joined are way more active than the ones I have been in for years.
• Though with the changes to leveling in 7.3.5 you need to pay a bit more attention, still consider having a movie or something going in the background. Even music could help.
• Talk a friend into playing and leveling with you. Having a friend to play with could make the experience a bit more enjoyable.
• During main holiday events do the quests. At level 70, doing the Midsummer Festival Flame Honoring and Descration just in Azeroth, I was able to get over 2 levels and over 400
燃烧之花
s. Yes, it took longer to get 2 levels, but it was a break from the typical quest grind.
• Consider doing achievements, as you level, you haven't before such as
博学者
or parts of it that may be missing.
• If you enjoy listening to the music of Azeroth, but you avoid some zones because the music just turns you off. Then consider getting an addon like
Epic Music Player
. This will allow you to make playlists of all the zone music you like, which will play over the current zone music.

Here are some helpful videos for you guys; if you would like to check them out. Some include information for doing dungeons as well.
Sorry about the resizing of videos. This is something with Wowhead that I can't fix.
Final Thought
I am not the fastest leveler out there, and by no means do I have this process perfected. I just been gathering information to help myself leveling the Allied Race characters for the Heritage Armor, and thought I would share with others.
If you have any tips or suggestions to help improve leveling please let me know in the comments below!

Very well thought out guide and covers just about everything needed for players that are leveling the new allied races and want to hit end game content quickly. Well done!
I really like the tips for what to do if feeling burned out while leveling the new races. I myself get burned out leveling new alts or even working on rep grinds and I will give a few of these a try.

can you use heirlooms to help level faster and still get the heritage armor?

I really don't see the point of those Heritage armors if you can't use them on any other race...
i mean, why would you do another same allied race, and even if you do, you're still going to level it to 120 to actually play it right ?
Even the first time, it's pretty dumb, let's say you're a magh'ar orc but you can't use your tribe armor until high level ? You're unworthy of your legacy...
Not to mention the disrespect to veteran players who had all the classes for ages now...
I feel like there is really limited cases where they are actually useful (pvp twinks eventually and maybe re-race and boons...)

Please see

. Heirlooms do not cap at 50%, in fact bonus experience on the whole does not. Only Recruit-a-Friend does. This is an oversight as people could use a second ring to get +55%, and that can add up.
Otherwise a good guide.

For
Leveling Route - Horde
, under the
81-90 - Cata and Pandaria
tab, it appears as though you've accidentally linked the Silverpine map instead of the Hyjal map. This appears to be correct for the Alliance tab, though.
Nevertheless, this is good stuff. Will definitely be adding this to the Favorites for future Allied Race leveling!

Maybe i'm late for this but can you add arguments for the specific enchants and gear piece ? (versatility, crit, haste, what is better to stack?)
And also, i you don't want to keep a piece at level 90 or something just to enchant, you can just spend 500 gold to buy the piece from a merchant and enchant it. it will be level 60 until you send it to an alt or pu it in your bank. sooo... Spend 500 gold -> Enchant -> Send by mailbox
Tadaa fresh 1-120 piece with an enchant. Works for shoulders and legs

Thanks! I really like this guide, it actually makes me excited to go level a toon. :) Great job putting it together! It's everything you need to level any character. How do you feel about Howling Fjord>Grizzly Hills>Icecrown for 60-80? I don't think I can stand Outland or Borean Tundra one more time and am hoping Howling Fjord is speedy and linear enough.
Here's my $0.02:
The best way to level through WoD, imo, is to go all over the map and do every single bonus objective, but leave them unfinished by one component (11/12 guys killed or 19/20 things collected, etc). Once you're done, have a leveling potion (or two) and run back along the path, finishing them all up. I can't remember how quickly I leveled doing that, but it was speedy and took me from around 92-102... I think the whole process was around four hours. I was a hunter with flying and I grabbed treasures that were along the way. For the record, I find this method painful, boring, and soul-crushing, but still preferable to leveing through WoD or even looking in the direction of those dungeons again. Pick your poison.
That got me a headstart into Legion, where I then jumped into all of the legendary weapon quests, finishing at 105 (close to 106) without getting into much of the zone quests. This was awhile ago, though, so my numbers might be a bit shaky. :) But I find the legendary weapon quests fun the first time you do them and pretty speedy.
Dungeons are worth it at lower levels. I was getting 2+ levels every dungeon for around a half hour of work while I was under level 50, but I suspect I lucked out and got speedy groups--with my paladin, I was normally top DPS and powering through them faster than if I had queued as tank or heals. This was only with a new dungeon where I could do all the quests for it--if I was running a dungeon I'd already done, it seriously cut my XP gain and I might as well have just run quests.
Try leveling on a low pop RP server... I'm leveling all my toons on Maelstrom. It's around 10 minutes for a dungeon queue as DPS. War mode is always on and there's no fear of ganking, so the XP bonus is extremely painless. I'm normally the only one in a zone--if you're not a loner, this might be seen as a con rather than a pro. :)
All my alts are in the 105-115 range because I'm sick to death of Legion and BfA. I wish I could just stay in the 1-95 range forever, the zones were so fun... ah well. Time to go power through some more frikkin' demons. :P
