The Legion is assaulting other planets and Illidan has tasked the players to follow the Legion through their portals and take them down. There are a total of 6 different Invasion Points, each with their own aesthetic and objectives.
Invasion Points are a rotating set of scenarios that will unlock on September 5th for NA and September 6th for EU. Players will need to complete
Chapter 2 of the Argus campaign
by turning in

which will then start the Invasion Point quest chain. After completing

during these 6 hours. After 6 hours, your lockout to that location is reset, so if the same location spawns later, you'll still be able to get loot!
Greater Invasion Points will last the entire week. You can complete each Greater Invasion Point
once
during the week.
How hard are Invasion Points?
Unless you're doing Invasion Points at an off hour, your Invasion Point should contain ~10 people who will be working together to complete the objectives. The final boss will also not restore health, which means even with a severely undergeared group, you'll be able to Graveyard zerg the boss down.
Some Invasion Points are much harder than others in general, but they also vary based on the random environmental effects that are present.
New Invasion Point Weekly Quest
As of a hotfix on September 12,

Basic Information
Lesser Invasion Points are designed for 3-10 players. Here is some basic information:
Each Invasion Point will last for exactly 6 hours and there will be always be 3 active at a time.
The Invasion Points are staggered 2 hours apart -- there will always be a new invasion every 2 hours. Want to know which Invasions are up? Check out the
Front Page
.
Once you complete an Invasion Point, you will no longer be able to receive loot from doing the same exact one again. However, the lockout is removed once it despawns -- In other words, if you complete Invasion Point: Cengar and later in the day another Invasion Point: Cengar respawns, you will also be eligible from loot from the new one.
There is always one Invasion Point on each of the three Argus zones: Mac'Aree, Antoran Wastes, and Krokuun. You can see where the Invasion Points are located and the time remaining by icons on the map.
The objectives in each Invasion Point are the same, but different enviroment effects and mechanics can be present in each allowing for different experiences!
Unlocking Lesser Invasion Points
In order to unlock Invasion Points, players will need to finish Chapters 1 and 2 of the the Argus storyline which ends in

Invasion Point Mechanics
One

At the beginning of Stage 2, giant Marsh Shamblers will start to roam around the arena, and players should aim to avoid them as they do massive damage and have a large amount of health.

Invasion Point Mechanics
Vaal has Braziers placed around the outside of the area:
Braziers are placed around the frozen planet and will provide

Vaal will also have

Invasion Point Mechanics
Sangua does not vary much from scenario to scenario. The following effects are always active:
A pool of

s will spawn under any killed Blood Drainer. Standing in the pool will grant a 25% damage buff while it remains active.
Killing the Wyrmtongue NPCs makes them drop a vial and spawn a Coagulated Blood enemy. When the Blood dies, any nearby creatures (both friendly and enemy) will be buffed by

granting haste but make the creatures explode after 20 seconds. Killing multiple Bloods will allow the buff to stack.
Occasionally, Sangua will have an additional effect increasing the damage of both enemies and friendlies:
Enemies will be affected by

causing attacks to stack a DoT.
When enemies are killed, a small red stone may fall on the floor. Running over it will grant

for 30 seconds and causing your attacks to stack a DoT on any enemies.

Invasion Point Mechanics
The following mechanics are always active:

Invasion Point Bosses
There are 13 total Invasion Point bosses and which one spawns at the end of the Invasion Point is completely random. That means that earning the achievement

is mostly based on RNG. You may need to do a lot of Invasion Points to finally complete the achievement if you are unlucky.

- Summons a Living Meteor at the location. The Living Meteor will roll towards players, if the Living Meteor reaches a player it will cause a Meteor Impact.
LIving Meteors will fixate on a player and chance that player down. Living Meteors are completely immune to AoE effects, have a ton of health and cannot be hit by melee. This means the best option is simply to kill the boss as far as possible while kiting the Meteors around the area.

- Inflicts Shadow damage to enemies struck by the Chaos Wave.

- Inflicts Fire damage to enemies within 6 yards and creates a Fel Spike at the location.
Fel Spikes do increasing damage the longer you stay by them. The area will quickly become filled by Fel Spikes and you'll have to constantly move the boss around to safe areas.

Volcano - Summons a Volcano that will deal damage to any nearby players.

- Inflicts increasing shadow damage every 0.5 sec for 5 sec. Moving to the eye of the Shadow Gale will prevent the damage!

- Current location explodes every 0.5 sec. for 10 sec. After 1.5 sec., the marked location explodes, inflicting Shadow damage to all players within 5 yards.

- Inflicts 2340000 to 2460000 Shadow damage to enemies within 20 yards stunning them for 4 sec.
This is one of the hardest Invasion Points bosses as it has the most lethal mechanics. Players will need to run away for

, run close for

and constantly move around when afflicted by

- Cleaves targets in front of the Dread Lord, draining Shadow damage, transferring health to him.

are the black/purple circles that move near the Dreadlord. Make sure to stack away from them!

Abilities:

- Teleports to a nearby location and wipes all threat, leaving behind a Shadowy Illusion at the location.

- Created clouds of sleeping gas under up to 3 nearby enemies.

- Inflicts 68250 to 71750 Shadow damage and causes enemies to run in Fear.
The Dreadlord's Shadowy Illusion has little health but casts Shadow Nova dealing moderate damage to all nearby players. When

is being cast, look for a large purple beam on the ground and make sure to move out of it!

The Explosive Orbs will channel a spell that when finished will deal a large amount of damage to all nearby players. Depends on your scenario's DPS, it may be worth to just ignore the Explosive Orbs. However, if the DPS is low, you should kill the Explosive Orbs as continue to cast until killed.

Greater Invasion Points are Argus' version of World Bosses. Unlike Invasion Points, only one Greater Invasion Point will be active every week and will last until the Weekly Reset. You can see where the Greater Invasion Point is located on the map.
There are 6 Greater Invasion Point portals and one will be active each week. Each Greater Invasion Point contains a single Boss. Kill all the bosses to receive the achievement

In Patch 7.3, the forces of Azeroth will undertake a journey most perilous. Not only will they travel to the eredar home world, Argus, but they will also have opportunity to strike even deeper at the Burning Legion by shutting down Invasion Points on other worlds.Players will first be introduced to Invasion Points through a quest that challenges them to enter and defeat the demonic forces inside. Each Invasion Point can be accessed without a queue to enter and while no group is required, additional players will be able to enter the Invasion Point instance within a short period of each other. No queue is required to enter.There are two tiers of Invasion Points that will not only increase in difficulty, but also increase in rewards—and you’ll need to bring along extra help if you want to complete the highest tier.
Tier 1 Invasion Points will allow anywhere from 3–10 players within the instance. While you can enter alone, you’ll ideally want to recruit at least two other friends to join you in order to complete the scenario.
Tier 2 Invasion Points or Greater Invasion Points, will require a raid to bring down the boss within, but with greater risk, also comes greater reward.
Several Invasion Points will be available on Argus at any given time along with one Greater Invasion Point. The portals into these encounters will be visible on your world map and each player will need to click on the portal to enter (even when in a group.) Each Invasion Point will cycle within a couple of hours and despawn, so you’ll want to keep an eye on the timers indicated on your map. You and your party will face some additional challenges from location to location, whether it’s contending with the extremes of cold or playing in fire. Completing these Invasion Points will provide Argus Waystones which can be used toward earning a weekly reward.
Greater Invasion Points
Greater Invasion Points will provide access for you and your raid to one of the new World Bosses and the chance to get some great loot starting at ilvl 930. If you don’t have a raid at your beck and call, there’s always the Group Finder (I) where you’re sure to be able to recruit some heroes to join you. Bosses will only award loot once per week.
Invasion Points Bosses
From its stronghold on Argus, the Legion employs a vast array of portals to spread across the cosmos like a plague. Countless worlds have been plundered for resources, their inhabitants forced to serve the Dark Titan or endure a slow, agonizing death.
Unless these worlds can be liberated, the Burning Crusade will consume everything it touches and leave the universe in ashes.
Matron Folnuna
Matron Folnuna destroys worlds by infecting them with her spawn. These vile creatures spread like a plague over the landscape, corrupting and devouring anything in their path.
Mistress Alluradel
All those who gaze upon Mistress Alluradel fall under her sinister control. She commands victims of her dominance to inflict gruesome torments upon themselves. A thrall’s only hope of escape is death, and Alluradel will not allow that release until their agonized screams have ceased to amuse her.
Inquisitor Meto
Inquisitor Meto’s mastery over fel magic is rivaled by few in the Legion. Meto uses this power to sow chaos and destruction across the cosmos, leaving countless burning worlds in his wake.
Occularus
Occularus feeds on the minds of his enemies, savoring their despair as he sears their flesh. This malevolent creature has devoured worlds, yet his hunger remains insatiable.
Sotanathor
Sotanathor’s legendary strength was forged through countless burning campaigns across the cosmos. A brutal general, this demon commands vast legions that have never known defeat.

Fun Fact, you can walk into a greater invasion point and try to do it without a group. It's a trap, the raid bosses still need at least 2 tanks and a healer.

You can get legendaries from regular (non-greater) invasion points. My hunter got a

At present there seem to be three regular invasions up at any time, with a fresh portal replacing each after it's been up for 6 hours, and they're pretty quick to do. You can do the same regular invasion twice in a day, it just needs to be a fresh portal (e.g. six hours after my first Aurinor invasion spawned, it was replaced by a fresh Aurinor invasion - both gave loot).
So if you're trying to maximise opportunities at a legendary, these are an appealing addition to the
current list
.

I would enjoy invasions a lot more if there was a simple queue system to build a group.
Currently I run in a portal with a few other random ungrouped people, they quickly disappear to other instances, and I spend the next 10 minutes creating group finder groups that people join and instantly drop as they hunt rares or ore etc.
I love that the invasions are challenging and require group work but finding a group is frustrating. The pre-Legion invasions were a great deal of fun by comparison, with a simple queuing system. No friction there.

I seem to be having a recurring problem with these invasions.
After the final boss has been killed, the number of debuffs in the immediate area seem to kill me before I can loot the corpse.
By the time I have resurrected, the boss's corpse has dissapeared and the scenario has reset.
Feels a bit infuriating and can't work out how to reset it and still get loot!

Make sure you hit the last boss
, and don't die or vanish,
or you will get no loot
.
A tip might be to join a group to do it.
I learned the hard way:
-Once I was with only a few others (not in a group), and we died multiple times but got the boss' health down to 2%. I managed to vanish before I died that last time, and once the others initiated the fight again, I didn't make it over to the boss in time to hit it, and because of that I got no loot.
-Another time I didn't hit the last boss at all, because I was very close to death and was running away from a couple of balls of fel fire that was chasing me. Had no chance to make it over there in time, because it all happened very quickly.

I did multiple Invasion Points during both last and current raid lockout, but as last week I was able to loot the commander every single time for its rewards (even one legendary drop!), this week, after several Invasion Points, commanders are no longer lootable for me. So are they daily now? Weekly? And if so, are the Invasion Points weekly/daily or are the random bosses only lootable once during that period? Or maybe they are like chests on the Broken Shore - loot them enough times and you can't loot them anymore? Any ideas?

Best way to handle these is to go to premade groups under the "other" section and just type in the name of the invasion area you are in (Bonich, Aurinor, etc). Chances are there are plenty of people queued up under a raid. There are a few advantages to this:
1. You will finish this way faster, since if you are on even a relatively large server (Illidan-US for example), you'll still need to wait while people trickle in. Having such a large group helps since the monsters do hit really hard
2. You don't have to hit the boss in order to collect your loot, you don't even need to loot the boss, the loot is just automatically sent to you.
3. This works for both the minor and greater invasion points, really fast way to get in and out on multiple toons, or if you are in a hurry.
And I can confirm that yes, bosses in both minor and greater invasion points do have a chance to drop legendary loot, so it is a simple way to increase your bad luck protection while gaining some really easy artifact power.

Currently I have 6 110s that are attuned to argus/invasions, and after the first week of doing the intro quest invasion, plus the 3 to unlock the greater, plus the greater, I'm already burnt out. Why not just make the 3 regular invasions quest required
per account
per week since it's apparently "really necessary" to have them in order to unlock the greater? :/

So, I enter the rift but I am not put into a scenario with other people. While in the area I have seen others enter and "disappear". It isn't clear to me if they logout or are entering a scenario I am not offered. Maybe I already did the Greater Invasion this week and simply forgot? Possible. Anyone else seen this behavior or can confirm it is what happens if you enter the rift after having completed it once.

If you fail to tag the boss and get loot, you can exit and re-enter. You're only locked to loot once you've looted boss. I had the issue before of not getting the tag in time, leaving and coming back in or joining another group works just fine.
I've also just chained it trying for the achievement for killing each lesser boss by going near the entrance after the kill and waiting a few seconds. It will reset, of course I was the group leader so that might have helped not sure on that point. No loot on subsequent kills, but you still get completion credit towards the 3 lesser points. Can actually do all 3 for the weekly in the same invasion point if you don't mind giving up the chance for loot in exchange for alt hopping through this quickly.
