This is probably the best set for a raiding warlock, because of the 5 piece bonus which will add a lot of damage in sustained DPS fights, increasing your shadowbolt'ing capacity by 15%.

Set i best for heavy destro locks, affiction and demi could get better resoults with other sets like nemesis even.

This is the set commonly known as the Warlock Teir 2.5 raid set.
The reagents used in making these set peices drop off the bosses in The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ40) and require different levels of Brood faction.

This set is incredibly powerful. And equally bad-looking. Your choice :)

And yes, the 5-piece bonus is absolutely gorgeous for Shadowbolt-spamming. Felheart-8piece beats it, but that lacks the raw damage of course.

Most destruction-based warlocks favor Doomcaller's 5-piece bonus in conjunction with the Plagueheart 2-piece bonus (Your Shadow Bolts now have a chance to heal you for 270 to 330) for self-sustainability purposes. This technique works even better now that warlocks are able to spec into 3/3 Soul Leech (30% chance to return 20% of your damage).

3/5 Doomcaller's Attire + 3/6 Warlord's Thread (or Field Marshal's Thread) is what i went for and it's godly for a Conflagrate Warlock (Firemancer)

I wouldn't take any other combo pre TBC for PvP

you can get 2 first items at neutral BoN rep, next 2 at frindly, and chest piece at honored, a la ZG toekns style.

Presumably, the chest will require a drop from AQ end boss.

The sets from AQ do not drop in AQ. They are from quest just like the item sets from ZG.

Doomcaller: 118 sta, 92 int, +164 damage, +3 crit, +2 to hit, -40 resistances, -15% mana cost of Shadowbolt.
Nemesis (matching 5 pieces): 115 sta, 78 int, +172 damage, +1 crit, +130 resistances and +200 health to your pet.

So, the differences are not substantial ( Doomcaller is not Tier 3 by any means ). Spell penetration and mana cost bonus on Doomcaller are good for raiding, and pet resistance bonus on Nemesis is good for PvP.

Which one of two is easier to get? The jury's still out on that.

You start off by getting 2 pieces from quests when you have neutral with Brood of Nozdormu, 2 more when your Friendly/Honored (I forget), and the last one when your Honored/Revered (I think it's neutral, friendly, and honored...not sure...have to double check). Yeah, this may sound easy....but you start off at 100/36000 hated with BoN. It all depends what your guild is doing if you want to get Nemesis or Doomcaller...BWL/MC/Onyxia for Nemesis, AQ for Doomcaller. If you really want to build up tons of rep with BoN...go right ahead and do....but it will takes lots of time :)

If you have the -resist built in then you dont have to waste your curse on the debuff. Warlocks can only have one curse on each target, so if we have a inert -resist we could use the curse on something like Curse of Agony

The plus side of having the -resist gear is that you can throw CoA instead of CoS and therefore boost your damage... it's a bigger help in PvP where few people have more than 50 resistance to anything, and only MD locks & priests will have more then that in shadow.

Still, I cosider the set on-par with Nemesis, not better or worse, they're just different... depending on what you do one will suite you better then the other.

I'm convinced that the crit, the extra damage, and the set bonuses (immolate damage and shadow bolt mana) really gear this set for heavy destruction, even though it's pretty much the best stuff out there for any warlock.

But that is what the spell resist junk is for - so you can be a fire warlock in MC. =P

Yes, seeing as how most duels between people in comparable gear come down to sheer skill at dueling. Not saying you're a bad dueler, just saying the gear isnt everything.
