Used to drop from Viscidus, but I believe it was removed from his loot table and moved onto Sartura after complaints. Blizzard switched it with the Ring of Qiraji Fury.
Hats off to Blizzard on this item.
It drops from Visciduous (spelling) which is a very very large slime in AQ40 (optional boss) requiring high nature resist.
Slimes often drop the item .
This guy drops Recomposed Boots. Funny :)
Its a nature res item so its only really gonna be used for upping your resistance in nature res encounters, so any cloth class or really any healer (druid+shaman) would get equal use from this, and bag it for most fights.
Unfortunately, it seems to be the way blizzard is going. I already have a bag full of dps gear, fire res gear, and now a bag full of nature res gear (lots of lvl50 maraudon blues :( ) and I've even in anticipation, got myself a hefty shadow res set. Despite my lovely epics, I have to revert back to statless greens and blues from a level 50 dungeon for resistance encounters :(
Nice one blizz.
As of patch 1.1.0 this has been switched from Viscidus to Battleguard Sartura's loot table.
You guys are great. If an item doesn't clearly favor one particular class, people bicker on and on forever about which class uses it best. Classic!
And oftentimes people are right that there's one class that can use it
better than all the rest. But that doesn't change the fact that tons of classes can effectively use this item.
Take into consideration that at the time of this posting, Thottbot only lists 3 nature resist feet for Leather/Mail. As a Shaman that means my guild has to either luck out and find/kill Emeriss, run through AQ gate opening quests (which I'm not even sure are available since the gate is already open), or make Chimeric Boots which have no stats aside from +12 Nature/Arcane resist.
Since this is a regular drop off a normal instance boss (albeit a boss my guild is nowhere near killing) it's going to be
easier to get than the rest of that crap, and far more effective for me as a resto Shaman.
1. The thing is useful for a ton of classes for NR gear.
2. Guilds use DKP systems. People spend DKP on things that are useful for their class. For NR gear, this is obviously useful for many classes, despite not giving great armor.
3. So none of your bickering really matters. Whether or not it's 100% optimal for a Warlock's NR gear doesn't change the fact that a Shaman, Priest, Mage, or Druid will still feel it's worthwhile to spend DKP on, given the lack of other NR options. Probably not their #1 priority item to spend DKP on, but still worthwhile.
Regarding "Resistance" fights...
Fire- and Nature-Resist fights are certainly
to gimp your stats, but you still have to determine on your own how much stat gimping is necessary or acceptable. For instance, if AQ40 fights have my shaman meleeing and absorbing lots of physical damage from mobs that changes my needs substatially and suddenly the lack of Armor value on these boots becomes a huge disadvantage - whether or not it's worth the tradeoff is something you only learn as you observe the efficiency of different equipment builds.
Always remember though:
there are two types of gamers: Whiners, and Winners.
It's fine to say you don't feel something's fun, as long as you're not letting that impede your ability to dominate boss encounters by using the correct combination of skill and gear.
Actually Rag does drop equipement with FR
Maybe we need NR again for.... eh, The emerald dream instance?
ok, from what i understand, viscidus needs more NR than any boss in AQ (except maybe C'Thun)
WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND MAKES THE NR BOSS DROP NR GEAR! you dont see &*!@ing Rag dropping FR!
PS. hurry up and drop my Femur, biatch.
most of rag's gear actually has FR
Immortality downed this. If you look at their web page you find out that Viscidus does *not* require nature damage. If you remove your armor the dot portion of his attack doesnt' 'stick' to your armor and he can be downed this way without any potions are nature resist.
More NR garbage off Viscidus in AQ40.
dropped for us off Battleguard Sartura tonight
s can be looted from
originally dropped from
