Works in arena as of now.
Is this bugged? I put one on my chest and hours later I'm still getting the absorption buff every 2 mins.
I can also confirm this bug, I got my chest(already with knothide armor kit) imbued over the trade window with this rune during an instance run. Days later I still get this buff every 2 minutes or so.
its bugged for me also. I used that 2 days before and I still have that buff.
From Patch 2.2 PTR Patch Notes
Lesser Rune of Warding: Due to persistent bugs with its design, this item has been redesigned for patch 2.2. It now enchants a piece of chest armor so it has a chance per hit of giving you physical damage absorption.
Sounds good to me
It depends if it will
a) replace standard enchants (+6 stats, +150 HP)
b) how much the absoption is
Time (and 2.2) will tell...

I posted an incorrect comment on this item: I believed it had a chance to absorb 200 damage on every hit...
I know know this is not the way this item works - both from experience and a little thought the near instant calls for nerfing from other proffesions.
This item when placed on a piece of chest armor has a 25% chance to absorb 200 points of damage from a physical attack.
If the attack is blocked, parried or dodged it does not 'use up' the charge if they both 'proc' at the same time (i.e. this cannot try to absorb 200 damage if your character parries or dodges on the same hit and if you block you will simply block your normal amount).
No idea about whether it absorbs from crushing blows but there is no real reason why this should not be the case.
Once this item has absorbed 200 damage it goes into the cooldown of 90 seconds (as shown in the tooltip).
After that 90 seconds it again has the 25% chance to absorb 200 damage.
I recommend using this on all your party members when in a dungeon - including the healer; should the healer draw aggro from a normal elite mob this can absorb a good amount of damage.
If your healer takes more than a few hits the situation has already gone slightly manic and no amount of buffs can save an aggro'ed healer for more than say 20 seconds (ignoring off-tanks and Physcic Scream, etc - this is just a purely theoretical situation).
However - this (along with its upgrade: Greater Rune of Warding) form a nice addition to your survivability and though itself on it's own is not going to save the day it will certainly help.
Same with any piece of gear/enchant - no one thing makes you nigh-invulnerable (even the best level 19 twinks die when swamped by a few clever non-twinks) but like any other buff this will add to your survivability.
This effect also quite nicely persists through death (same as sharpening/weight stones), lasts for one hour and only costs one adamantite bar (x2 pieces of adamantite ore)
This does not override current enchants on your chest piece.
People love it when a Warrior unexpectedly hand out buffs (or any tanking class - including Paladins; Blessings are extremely nice but expected - these are not)
Please feel free to correct me or add to what I have said: I am human - I make mistakes and do not know everything
Thottbot is incorrect on skill drops. This turns green at 330.
Where can i get this?
ive looked through all faction rewards, all BSs in outlands and all over Thott, Allakhazam, wowhead worldofraids etc, and i havent found a single mention of the source of the recipe, PLZ HELP
Nice Bug there:
A friend gave me a Lesser Rune of Warding yesterday. I put it on my Karabor Chest, and it activated. I did some quests, and logged out. But when i logged in today, it still was there, no more comment in the tooltip, but the effect still activates after the cooldown.
How ´bout trying a "Greater" One ^^
Yes, I've had this ward active on me for several days now.
I can die, I can switch gear (including the chest it was placed upon), I can be attacked, and it will always come back.
It dutifully absorbs 200 dmg each time, then comes back every 2 minutes indefinitely.
I don't mind.
This thing's great, had mine for 4 days straight; seems like its a permenant buff (as it should be) persisting through death and logoff.
thottbot is now incorrect, trained by humphry in honor hold but you must be 325 BS to train it.
It's no bug that it persists through death and logout, because you "enchant" the chest, not yourself, so it's like mana oil or shamans' weapon enchants, which stay on the weapon, even if you die in BGs and so.
Lesser Runes of Warding will
remove your chest enchant. I was wondering that myself (and was surprised no one had commented about it earlier). Basically works like a sharpening stone.
