Earth, Water, Air and fire Fire are found in Nagrand at the Elemental Plateau above the Throne of Elements, where fast spawning level 70 elemental's can be found.
Mana is from mobs in Netherstorm like th fishes and Nether Rays
In an hour you can generally make at least enough matts for Earth,Fire,Air,Water primal's if its quite on the plateau. Take you a little longer to get the Primal Mana because the mob's are spread out in Netherstorm.
That being said it wasn't to painful to farm the 40 of each mote I needed for my specialisation.

Alchemists, who craft this, may have decided to persue the transmute specialty. This yields the slight possibility to create more than one primal (up to 5) even though it just uses the mats for one. This multiple result is reflected in the group log, and as such is visible to all group members.
When dealing with an Alchemist and buying this transmute, it is generally expected that since he has taken extra time and money to pursue this specialization, that the extra yielded primals will belong to him, and that whoever provided the mats and paid for the transmute is only owed what they paid for: one primal might.
If you feel otherwise, it is recommended that you discuss the possibility of a transmute yielding multiple primals, and who should get them. It can’t hurt to ask, and you may be able to pay a premium for the transmute in return for the extra primal if it drops.

I have done between 10-15 primal might transmutes, and have had a double-might proc twice, for anyone that is interested.
Also, I was just doing a might transmute and my character cheered which was followed by this emote/text:
DISCOVERY! *your toons name* has discovered how to transmute primal mana to fire.
You have learned how to create a new item: Transmute: Primal Mana to Fire.

That's the way I would do it.
If an additional primal is created the transmute fee will be returned, or give the guy who provided the mats with a discount, either way it's something to look forward to ^^

Once you become a Transmutation Master, you have a possibility of getting the proc anytime you transmute something. Skill level does not matter.

Well, I do believe that having the transmutation spec gives alchemist right to choose whether they want to give extra primal mights or not.
I'm one of them, and I don't see the reason why should i give additional mights for the person that buys my service. I'm given the mats and money for one transmutation = for 1 might. If I get more, well then it's only my luck. Due to my effort and decision I became transmut. master so why should other people get profits of this ?
Of course there are many ways to discuss first, get in a deal etc.

I farm the mats for primal mights, usually two at a time. Then i go to a city, and ask in trade channel for a Transmute spec'd alchemist. On my server most people charge 5g, and upon asking for a transmute spec, i make sure that i will get anything tht procs, and i am in party so i can see it. So it has to be a agreement before any trading, and make sure you both understand what will happen to the procs.

I was able to successfully grind Primal Air, Water, and Earth for this within 2 hours in Nagrand.
Granted, I was level 70 at the time and able to fly above the beasts to just find the Air, Water, and Earth elementals roaming around to kill (which I strongly suggest doing, it saves time to just fly over other beasts). However, anyone level 65 and above should have no problem grinding these 3 Primals within 3-4 hours *max*. After that it's just a hop skip and jump to the other 2 Primals to get Might.
Also, I should note that now that all elementals have the chance to drop their respective Essences, grinding motes for primals has become even more lucrative, with each essence selling (At least on Dentarg) for 2-5g a piece. This is free gold! They drop relatively often and is just another reason to take just a couple hours and grind up some primals.

ok so an alchemist gets the fruit of your labours, why? he farmed his 4 primal mights? no one forced him to choose that specialisation, if u went out and farmed all the mats for x number of primal mights, its pretty screwed that someone else is gunna be able to take the resulting "spares", especially when they sell for 120g+ (Thaurissan).

For the ones who said they would want people to pay additionally up front- how hard is it to say you are transmute specced, when you aint and get additional gold?
I would preffer saying something like "10g to transmute, if it proccs you can pay 10g extra and get the procc". After all, you wouldnt have gotten the 2d might if they guy didnt want to transmute it in the first place.

I can easily gather mats for 1 Primal Might in an hour or less if I'm quick about changing farming areas for the different primals.
My usual spots are:
Primal Fire -
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=22298
(1st choice) and
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=22311
(2nd choice)
Primal Water -
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=21728
(1st choice) and
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=22309
(2nd choice). To all you frost mages who complain, USE ARCANE. I'm full frost and it only takes me 10 seconds. If you don't enjoy it then you could probably make a deal with a fire mage who wants Primal Fire.
Primal Mana -
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=17870
Primal Earth - I never have the need to farm this because I take in ALOT off mining.
Primal Air -
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=21060
(1st choice) and
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=22310
(2nd choice)
I don't usually go to the Elemental Plateau; Generally it's crowded and it seems as if drop rates are less there than they are in other places. If I'm looking for more than 1-2 types of primals at a time than I may go there, but of course, it isn't my 1st choice.

I find that ppl who keep all the extras to be lame. When you ask someone to disenchant something and it results in 2+ essences or dust, they don't just hand you 1 back and keep the rest.
I sure as hell don't go out and farm for hours so that someone can charge me 10g for a transmute, then turn around and make 100-400g profit off of pressing one button with my hard earned mats.

well... for Alchemysts The Primal Might isn't rly that good for earning money, but it is good for gaining skill. sense you spend 59 g for mats aproctimatly it can be soled for 70g,with a cooldown of 23 hrs. i suggest that you can give away primal might to the player that gives you mats. :) no fee sort to speak.

Motes of Water can be found at the Elemntal Plateau in Nagrand??
Well I haven't found any.
Motes of Fire, Motes of Air, and a few Motes of Earth (only two rock elementals spawn at the location) can be obtained there easily - except there're usually many people camping the area, and many don'¨t mind ninjaeing.
On a side note: Apropos ninjaeing ... It's not necessarily enough that you hit the target. Another can still steal it from you, if he happens to have higher dps than you did. - At least this is what happened to me over the last few days, when a mage ninjaed my targets after I had begun hitting them.

The best way I found to resolve the transmute issue is this. Tell them that you will sell them the 1 Primal Might for Xgs. and that any procs would be sold for a discounted rate if they so chose. So for example, If you were to sell the transmute for 20G (just an example, the price would be to your choosing) you could sell any additional procs for 15G. If they didn't want to pay the 15G then the procs are yours.
Another way I have seen Alchemests do this, is sell the transmute, but if it procs, the Primal Might is free, and then the Alchemest keeps the procs. So the Customer get a free primal might and the alchemest gets his paycheck,.

Transmute issue: "/2 WTS primal might transmute". Buyer puts mats in trade window, you put a premade might in the window, click trade. Then you laugh all the way to the bank, where you make a new might.

it's been my experience that 1x on the AH is almost always cheaper than the cost of the individual primals, so be sure to price it out before farming (the flip side is that it's almost always more profitable for alchemists to sell the individual mats instead of transmuting mights unless they're transmute spec'd)

Also paying halv of the crafting cost is not in proportion of the chance of getting an extra. If there is 10% chance to get an extra might he should pay 10% extra in "gambling-cost", not 50%.

It should be noted that nowdays there are so many people trying to use this to level their Alchemy, that no one should need to pay for a transmute. I am on a medium population server, have had over 20 transmutes, and can always find someone that values the intrinsic value of a skillpoint over someone who just wants 5g (which is what people try to sell thier transmutes for on my server).

As for the extra procs with transmutes allways talk it over before doing the transmute and how to pay if there will be procs.
There are a lot different ways like said above, you can gamble and get the extras or you can get your money back and let the transmuter get extras and i guess there are several more ways of dealing with this.
But as i said make a deal before transmute how to deal with procs.
And BTW 15g is a fair price for the transmute as the mats goes for average 95g due to wohead prices and the BO of the primal is 150g you still get it a lot cheaper.

that to purchase a lot of the mats will total over 130g (avg. price 20-25g per mat) on my server, yet the Primal Might itself will only sell for max 105g on my server. So, transmuting this will be at a loss financially for me now until the prices for the mats go down. I try to farm as many of the mats as possible, but sometimes I don't have the time. I hope the mat prices go down soon so that we can make a real profit off of these transmutes ;).

My 70 rogue went from rags to almost obscene riches with this transmute. Witholding a cache of about ten primal mights in the bank for guild use, alts, etc.), about once a week for an hour or so I offer to trade extra primal mights for the mats on my server. This means I rarely have to farm for these time consuming materials. My transmute has procced almost every time ranging from 2-5 primals at a time. When you make this trade, don't transmute right then and there because if your transmute proccs then there will be some sort of misunderstanding and that person will feel entitled somehow to your extra primals, although they had nothing to do with you leveling your skill. When I feel like making a little extra dough, I throw about 5 in bulk in the AH at a 10-20% discount. (One primal might sells on my server for about 92-105 gold; do the math). A quick announcement in the trade channel before I log to a different toon and they are gone within ten minutes tops. Okay, one time I waited an hour and had to reannounce and then they literally sold right from under me. Nice money maker. So right now, I'm reaping the benefits until they go down in price or Blizzard decides to do something about this. Just remember to keep a stash for your guildies and they're always extremely happy with you. Elixirs and Potion Masters... lol whatever

Please ignore all the "I can make these on XX server" posts. This is a purchasable recipe from a vendor, so every alchemist with any brains will have it as soon as they hit level 350.
Also, for the guy talking about how they are priced less than the materials..
This is happening because of Xmute mastery. Sellers are willing to take a hit on the cost because they just made two. An unintended (or maybe intended) consequence of what I used to think was a cool feature. Now I just transmute Primals to make a profit.

I always keep one in the bank in case somebody is looking for a transmute. First of all it removes the trust element, you exchange the final product against the mats, not risk for the parties involved. Second if you are a transmute master, it's clear that when the guy sees "XXX creates: x3" there's going to be an argument. At least most of the time. By giving them the final product straight away, you can then do the transmute later and keep the extras.
Finally the point is not to sell the final product on AH if you are a master. The point is to offer it to others against the mats (most ppl are going to farm the mats and not buy them from AH, and are in a hurry so don't want to put all 5 primals for sale, with AH cuts and all, and buy a primal might from AH). After a while you will have a lot of primals sitting around... that you can then resell or reuse :D

Are all the transmuters idiots to put their creation at such a low price? even if you are transmute master with its miserable proc you won't gain any profit from this transmute. It is the same with other transmutes and potions. What's wrong with alchemy? Btw i am elixir master and it is very profitable since i can make flask of distilled wisdom

What do you think a fair transmute price for this is?
If we go back to the transmute price of Arcanite, it costs 5g(before expansion). But Arcanite (before expansion) costs 30g. So the transmute price is 1/6 the cost of Arcanite
If we use the same logic, Primal Might cost about 140g in my server. So do you think 1/6 the price of Primal Might (which is 23.33g) is a fair price for a Primal Might transmute? Or do you think we need to add in more variables to this equation?

As soon as I finish transmuting my last primal might, I don't intend on charging anything for transmutes. Why? I'm specializing in transmutation...which means I have a chance to make more than one of an item. Which means I can use other people to supply me with the raw materials and reap the excess for pure profit. As long as they get what they're expecting, then it's a win-win situation for all.

What I do is I trade the mights for the raw materials, so I always have it on CD. Reason I'm doing that is the elementals r heavily farmed on my server and I rely on my transmutation proc

its not like transmution is the only thing alchemists can make a profit from you can make pots and flasks and even just farm herbs and sell them . please dont go around saying "it cost me tons to get 375 alchemy" because even if you sell transmutes for a rate of 5 gold you will make a profit even if it takes a month.
and please dont go saying "Everyone else charges more than us" because its not every day that someone wants a crusader enchant or a special robe made but half the time to do the high level stuff they even have to go to you first
and btw the pattern is off a vendor so dont go around telling people it cost you a lot because that just indicates you didnt ask anyone where to get it
remember to you its a minute to you and a click and hours of grinding for someone else

OK, I'm gonna blow the whistle on this entire transmute spec thing that everyone is goin on about.
Here's the thing if you look at the average price on the AH for the mats for this, it doesnt equate. For example, on my server the average cost(note this is an average only, but the prices fluctuate only a little) is as follows,
Primal Earth = 6g
Primal Water = 18g
Primal Air = 28g
Primal Fire = 30g
Primal Mana = 17g
Total = 99g
Primal Might = 89g
My advice farm for cash and just buy it on the AH for cheaper.
Its more time-consuming but if you are gonna farm for the mats then sell each of the Primals in the AH/Trade channel and then buy the Primal Might on the cheap(buy when theres lots so the alchys are all undercutting each other), rather than handing over your Primal Might materials for transmute to a 'Transmute Spec' Alchemist who will at some point get a nice little proc and you basically just gave them your time and money for free.
Rather than you spending your precious time farming, let the alchemists go out and get their own materials. I know, I know...they spent a lot of gold to skill up their profession but so did everyone else and I don't think its fair that alchemists earn money from other people's time just by hanging out for 10 mins at a city and spamming Trade channel with - "WTT my for your mats. pst"

for my server we charge 5g for transmute service and these sell for about 80g each. The primals are all 20-25g each except for mana which is 17g.
this is y i am going transmute mastery, seeing as how ive spent about 8 hours farming for this stuff and got 2 primal water, 2 primal earth, 2 primal mana, and one primal air(which took insanely long since before you get amount, the only air elementals u can get are scattered all throughout nagrad) and a couple motes here and there. I didn't even get to fire though.
-Mana-lots of things in netherstorm drop this(mostly with the name mana in them and the eels)
-Fire-Blades edge and Shadow moon(fire elementals like infernal souls and others)
-Earth-Mining and earth elementals which are all over nagrad(i suggest the ones on the edge of the area where it is next to the abyss)
-Water-Lots of water elementals in nagrad too, had some good luck (sorta) with the elementals in the lake below thrown of elements)also eels and stuff in water but those dropped much less it seemed.
-Air-...wow good luck on this one you will need it... these elementals are scattered all over nagrad in the forms of lighting and dust. The dust ones(east nagrad) dropped a lot more than the lightning ones. Sadly, there are not clusters of these guys.
It takes a long time to farm for this since the mats are scattered all over outlands, although, there is a place u can fly to in nagrad that has all of them i hear.(thrown of elements top shelf i believe)
anyway....transmute mastery would open up a huge amount of profit when it procs. Lets say someone spends around 2 1/5 hours getting the mats for primal might and u can transmute it for them. Well when u do it procs and u get 4 instead of just one u have just made 3 extra primal mights with someone else's mats, and they pay u 5g for the first one. You can sell these for a total of 240g even though u did no work to try and get them. :) This might seem kinda sneaky or off to certain people but you might not want to be in a party with someone who you are transmuting for. There are a lot of jerks and whiny people out there and they might argue that those extra primal mights belong to them since it shows what party members have made. (who knows? maybe?)
(alchemy masteries(potion, elixir, transmutation) have a chance (15-20% chance) to gain an extra 1-4 of what u were making. so u can make one or u can make 5 or 3 or 4 or 2 all at once) pretty cool :)
its a quest u obtain at 68 350 alchemy(well, 3, but u choose one)
hope this helps u farmers and transmuters (sorry for bad grammar)
edit: Just got flying mount the day after i posted this (OMG Best thing ever-was up in the skys for hours) and went to the elemental plateau in nagrad. It was an extremely contested area so you might want to stay near others of your faction or get a group. They enemies are very strong (stamina wise and their elemental melee attacks go straight through armor) but they dropped motes about 3x as fast as the others (earth, fire, water, air)
wow sorry this is so long

Lot of frightful discussion here.
Yes, all professions have it tough and spent a lot of time and money to get to 350. (I can't count how many times I'd wished I could have made a cool leather jacket for my alchemist rogue.)
All professions have a right to charge for their goods AND services. No service should be "Free with your mats". Especially not a service that is on a 23 hour cooldown. How much do you think Enchanters would charge if Crusader/Lifestealing/Firey could only be done once a day?
And us alchemists kind of get the short end of the stick. Someone said above that Blacksmiths are guild vending machines -- but at least they aren't expected to provide the mats and the service for free. If you're an alchemist in your guild, you're pretty much expected to pass around potions for guild raids, and no one is handing you stacks of Netherbloom in exchange for your Super Mana Potions.

The economic talk on this page is way too close to Real Life for me. I like realism in a game, but I play WoW to get AWAY from the hassles of real-life money stresses, and just to relax and cool off. If I ever get as serious about WoW as some of you folks, I'll quit the game and go back to GTA: San Andreas.
P.S. - I'd farm for the mats myself, then just buy a Primal off the AH and sell the Primals I farmed - you'll have enough gold afterward to pay for the Might as well as keep a nice profit!

ON a related issue;
Have any other xmute-spec alchemists noticed a significant decline in procs over the last month or so? (sprcifically primal might, but any OL xmute proc will do).
I have been xmuting for randoms perhaps once every other day over the last month, without a single proc. I remember when i first took up xmute spec and the procs were Much more frequent (and yes, i even got a 5'er once).
It has gotten to the stage, being that i use elixirs much more than i use primals anyway, that i am seriously considering switching to elixir mastery, for i hear the proc rate on that is still very healthy indeed (a mate reports having made a flask discovery per day for the last week, quite aside from an approximate 30% proc rate for multiple elixirs). Considering elixir creation has no cooldown either ... it seems to make much more practical sense.
So here is the question: has the proc rate on an already limited-production speciality been nerfed? I know procs are "completely random", yes. But lately it is getting beyond the realm of credulity tbh.
Anyone?

Everyone who is saying you will make money over time, no matter what your charge fee is, please remember that in the same ammount of time you spend advertising for your proffession you could make an easy 10-20g off vendor trash in outlands.
So stop trying to make this a game where only the gatherer professions really make money and accept the fact that your going to have to pay a fee if you want something crafted/enchanted.
I'm not even an alchemist, but 20-25g seems pretty reasonable for this considering how much money you make in outlands.
And to people who advertise "Free your mats" in trade channel at high skill lvls, just so they can get easy skill ups, you are shooting yourself in the foot for when you finally do get to 375. Do you really think people will pay you to do it for them when someone else is doing for free just to get an easy skill up?
Bottom line, you have to charge a fair ammount of money for proffessions to even be worth you time. This is not a public service.

in the 2 and a half weeks so far of me being a transmute master my proc's were 1,1,1,2,1,2,1,1,2,1,1,2,2,2,5,1 so maybe i have been lucky but i am loving this mastery so far!

Yup, 24hr cooldown on any xmute.
My last comment to this thread (a couple months ago) was posted during a test. I spent 6 weeks doing an xmute per day, without exception. The result? No procs, no discoveries, nada.
I have been an transmute spec alch for perhaps 7-8 months now, and during that time have done in the area of 150 xmutes. During that time i have had maybe 10 procs, & one discovery.
I am concluding from the other posters on this thread that i must simply be impressively unlucky. That, and i hear the proc rate has been recently nerfed accross all specialisations.
I have an alt alchemist, who i made xmute spec so that my main could change to elixirs. For various reasons that BM run hasn't happened yet. But now i have 2 xmute spec alchies, each doing an xmute per day in conjunction with others for our guild vault supplies. And you guessed it, now two of them who don't proc.
I shall end this lil' QQ here.

Forget transmuting Primal MIght.
The real money at the moment is in transmuting Powerful Earthstorm Diamonds. These are going for well over 120g on EU/Frostmane, and the parts on the AH only amount to a fractoin of this.
The demand is high since Season 3 started. It will tail off as everyone gets their headgear.

A guildie of mine doesn't want to xmute my mights for lionheart blade because it's not contributing to raids (warrior). So i'm basically going to do one of these:
1. You xmute all free and keep any procs.
2. I pay you and take any procs free.
3. Someone else who likes money can do it

Maybe i'm lucky... but i'm happy with transmute mastery and primal might transmute.... 4 days ago i hit lvl 68 and took transmute mastery paid for 4x primals to get it... as i dont have time (this is my alt) to do durnholde then change it.... so in 4 daily transmutes i got 2+4+5+5 sold all....

Okay I became a transmutation master in hopes of making multiple primal mights. I spent four primal mights to learn it. I then have transmuted primal mights 10 times and never have gotten more than one primal might? Am I doing something wrong? If I would have known that I could not transmute more than one primal might, I would have never done it? It is dumb and a waste of gold so my advice to you is NEVER become a master transmuter because it never works?

everyone is saying nagrand is the best place to farm primal earth, water and air, but I hardly found a handful of motes in nagrand (just motes o water were easy in nagrand). pretty disappointing. it may be just bad luck, but I really dont think so. if you are not miner to get primal earth out of nothing, neither engineer for primal air, and don´t have a flying mount yet to go to Elemental Plateau, the best farming places I found:
>Primal Water: any water elementals in Nagrand
>Primal Fire: Enraged Fire Spirit in the Fel Pits (Shadowmoon Valley)
>Primal Air: Enraged Air Spirit in Shadowmoon Valley, between the Altar of the Shat'ar and the border of Outland
>Primal Earth
AND
Primal Mana: Warp Monstuosity (mana) and Sundered Thunderer (earth) are mixed up North of Stormspire (Netherstorm), near Campforge: Oblivion, and close to the border

I think it must be charged, but don´t think higher than a 20g price is worthy. I´m a mage (enchanter/tailor). as a mage, I´m used to people asking for something they think is not worthy (portals!). I always charge them a 5-10g (in bad mood I ask a lot, just to make them go away or pay too much if they are crazy enough). this charge is not 'cause I think the 'portal service' is valuable, it costs me mere 20s (the rune); this charge is for the lost time, 'cause it´s a pain in the ass going to hell to open a portal to someone, I´m not a taxi. the same applys to this: the alchemist don´t spend anything to transmute other than a cooldown, and even have the chance to gain a lot, effortlessly (the proc rate). for this, they shouldn´t charge anything.but a small ammount (up to 20g) is acceptable, for the lost time. (if someone say: "but we spend the cooldown!" the solution is easy: if you don´t want to spend your cooldown, say 'no' when someone ask a transmute!)
