This has 10 charges, is there anyway to refresh charges?
Since druids have a 1.0 attack speed in cat form, each point of weapon damage adds a straight 1 DPS (assuming this necklace works like pre-BC items that add weapon damage, it should add the damage to cat form in this way). Therefore, this necklace is equal to a 70 attack power necklace for druids in cat form, since 14 AP = 1 DPS.
This makes it a fantastic, relatively cheap necklace for feral druids. Tons of hit on top of it, and the use is very nice as well.
As a JC/miner, the mats of this thing is usually leftovers from my main business (mine -> prospect -> make awesome gems -> sell), and they are disenchanted into large prismatic shards or even void crystals. Easy shit.
Does the buff disappear if you unequip the neck?
This increases weapon damage. For a hunter, weapon damage boosts damage from Aimed Shot, Multi Shot, Auto Shot, Scatter Shot, Silencing Shot, Raptor Strike and normal melee attacks. It does not boost Arcane Shot, Steady Shot, Mongoose Bite, Wing Clip, stings, or traps. Steady Shot can be roughly half of a hunter's damage, so weapon damage is not very useful to them. Attack power or agility are better, as they apply to all shots and also increase pet damage. Because of this, the +5 weapon damage on this item is roughly equivalent to 30 attack power on a different item.
The hit rating on this item, however, applies to all shots, stings, and melee attacks. Hit rating is important to hunters. The crit rating is also quite nice, especially if there are multiple physical damage-dealers in the party. So, this is a useful items to hunters. There are just better items, that's all.
On the other hand, for characters such as rogues and dual-wielding warriors that can do a weapon-based attack every second, the +5 weapon damage is worth roughly 70 attack power, making this a much more useful item.
I'm pretty much amazed at the lack of raiders using this neck. It really is awesome. Consider this:
Imba neck of Imbaness.
Equip: Improves hit rating by 21.
Equip: +5 Weapon Damage.
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 140.
Would you wear that? I think you would. Imo all 'melee groups' should have everyone rotating the 'use' of these necks. that brings the 1 hour cooldown down to 12 minutes, just enough to have one use per boss.
Equiv. of 70 ATP for a feral druid. About 50 if you're dual wielding fast (1.5-2.0 weapons) and have flurry. Easily one of the best dps necks in the game. Buy a bunch and pop the buff when you're raiding.
Can these necklaces be recharged?
As far as I know, they cannot be recharged. The mats to make these aren't too intensive though, so your local Jewelcrafter should make it for free if you provide the needed goodies. :)
now after you use the use ability can you take the necklace off and switch it or will you lose the buff?
