Does this work together with Overlord's trinket?
A very useful item for affliction warlocks. Most of the other trinkets give you spell critical either as a passive or activated affect, which is not useful for afflict locks. This one will be useful for a long time, so until you get two +spell damage or + spell hit trinkets keep this one. You might want to use other trinkets while leveling and grinding when you reach 70 but keep this one for early raiding, as trinkets with these bonuses aren't very common.
So don't do what I did and disenchant this one as soon as you get two useful trinkets. I always curse myself for disenchanting this when going to karazhan, where my other trinket is almost useless.
Recently ran Ramparts with a 70 rogue who insisted that this trinket healed him... After about 30 minutes of arguing I shifted out of cat form (feral with lotp) to get rid of the heals he was getting from Imp. lotp to show him that the trinket wasn't healing him. The next few moments went something like this...
Rogue : Grr you noob... you broke my trinket!
Me : Uhhh....
Rogue : Brb, gonna hearth and fix.
Me : *Kicks Rogue*
Funny little story to a nice trinket...
Is there a version of this for the horde?
This item does not share it's full cooldown with other
similar items of this type
, only time the buff it gives is on. It means you can use one of them after another, but their effect cannot be stacked.
Both the cooldown and the spell damage is nice ... :)
how to get this trinket ? quest or drop ?
It's a Quest u get from Ikuti.
Obtained at lvl 62
You need to do a quest before u get this quest.
It's a quest reward trinket, starting in Orebor harborage..
You have to kill the boss (19,6) which is a lvl 62 nonelite. The Maulers are found at the Ango'rosh Stronghold (17,10)
2 min cooldown, very nice for questing ;)
Shared cooldown with TOEP : / bummer
Would have been nice to use them both
Glowing Crystal Insignia (CGI) owns all other damage trinket thus far...
assuming you are using a 2.5 second cast spell (improved shadowbolt for example)
175 damage for 15 secs (or 6 spell casts)
bonus damage would be (175x6=1050)
this trinket has a cooldown of 90 seconds therefore
DPS = 1050/90 =
Zandalarian Hero Charm
204 spell damage initial and minus 17 spell damage each cast, 20 second duration (or 8 spell casts)
Bonus damage would be (204+187+170+153+136+119+102+85 = 1156)
this trinket has a cooldown of 120 seconds therefore
DPS = 1156/120 =
Talisman of Ascendance
adds 40 spell damage each cast, stacking up to 5 times , 20 second duration (would have been 8 casts normally but due to the charge limit this only means u get to do 6 casts)
Bonus damage would be (0+40+80+120+160+200 = 600)
this trinket has a cooldown of 60 seconds therefore
DPS = 600/60 =
Glowing Crystal Insignia
26 permanent damage (ie. 26 damage for each 2.5 seconds the trinket is equipped assuming u are nonstop casting for 2 minutes, so in calculations over a cooldown of 120 seconds or 48 casts this alone adds 26x48 damage) + 104 damage on use , 20 second duration (or 8 spell casts)
Bonus damage would be ((26x48)+(104x8))= 2080
this trinket has a cooldown of 120 seconds therefore
DPS = 2080/120 =
in order of DPS (PvE long-term-damage-wise)
1-Glowing Crystal insigina
3-Talisman of Ascendance
Shared cooldown with Vengeance of the Illidari, only VotI has a much shorter cooldown.
Should I use this before or after applying my DoT's (affliction 'lock)?
If the DoT's get their tick size determined when you apply them, I should use this one before applying, but if the tick size can change depending on changing +spell dmg, this item would benefit me the most if I use it just after applying the DoTs, since it would then affect all DoT's as long as possible...
(same as with Vengeance of the Illidari)
Has anyone tested this?
this trinket is also better than
Vengeance of the Illidari
, because the Illidari Vengeance increases damage done by 120 for 15 seconds (120 x 15 = 1800), and this is 104 for 20 seconds (104 x 20 = 2080 + 520 ) "520" from the 26 + magical spell damage.
the only thing which makes the other one interesting for a mage is def. the 26 spell critical rating, tho if you are leveling i would strongly recommend you to use this with some other trinket, i myself use this one and the
Mark of Defiance
.. gives me enormous +dmg boost and also proccs alot for the mana thingie.. this is just awesome combination for leveling ..
Damn it, it shares a CD with Votl(Vengence of the Illidari) I would use both if it didn't. But from the posts I've read, this is one is slighty better than Votl. So I guess I'll be using this and Insignia of the Alliance, but I'm thinking about swtiching Insignia of the Alliance to the above persons SECOND trinket. And wow, lol, I didn't know so much math could be put into a simole game, well, I guess it's really not that simple when it boils down to it...
VotI is better for a lot of situations
for example say you want to open with a huge starfire or pyroblast...it will do more damage with VotI
suppose you want to throw on lots of dots...VotI is better because tick size is determined at casting time, so the greater damage applies even if you throw your dots at the end of the charge
after looking at the equip bonus it seems the damage from VotI isn't actually better...
HOWEVER, if you are a dps casting class that is capable of healing, such as a shadow priest or a balance druid, VotI might still be the better choice since the effect is greater for healing
FYI - i tried equipping both GCI and VOTI and while you cannot use both at the same time, you can use them in succession. All while enjoying the passive bonuses of both. Not a bad combo.
Probably the best green item currently in the game...
My healing priest likes the "equip" benefit of the CGI better, but had to choose Shard of the Illidari because the healing benefit goes up to 220.
