Currently, as of 2.0.10, this rod becomes neccesary for creating a Void Sphere (enchanting 350) and Surefooted (enchanting 370). But you can't make the BoP rod until 375. So keep in mind that to do these lower level enchants, you'll first have to level up to 375 and make the rod, even though the enchants themselves don't require 375. (To Blizz: lame)

this is very expensive and i suggest not to make it until you get a recipe that requires this. especially mongoose which is the best moneymaker. i currently charge 50g + mats. the rod cost me about 750g so each enchant is slowly making up for the extremely expensive rod.

The best advice I can give is have the profession combo of Tailoring and Enchanting. Tailoring is a lot less expensive to level and via disenchant, you can get Large Prismatic Shards very easily by disenchanting Imbued Netherweave Items. Always keep a stack on hand for yourself, and then sell a stack everytime you make one. A stack usually goes for about 400g. There's your way to make money with enchanting. i have enchanting with engineering right now, and it actually turned out well at 345 engineering. you can make cogspinner goggles, whose mats are worth the same, if not less than the large prismatic it DE's into. so that way u can get free levels basically for engineering, or shards for two purposes for enchanting.

Before making this item the enchants that require this are:

Soulfrost +54 shadow & frost
Sunfire +50 arcane & fire
Mongoose Chance on hit to give +120 agi & 2% attk speed
Executioner Chance on hit to ignore 840 enemy armor for 15 seconds (comes out in phase 4)
