Incredible rogue item right here! Mace spec rogues will enjoy the added stun on top of their already 5% chance to stun. Other specs of combat will enjoy it for the constant +melee dmg and the stun as icing on the cake. Not to mention builds involving backstab or mutilate with the % dmg modifier stacking on top of the +3 Melee Damage bonus.
I have yet to see a better meta gem for pvp.

Anyone know if it does work in Cat form for Druids ?
+3 melee dmg means +42 AP in cat form (1.0 speed). I'm afraid it doesn't.

What it means is that in your entire gearset, you need at least a minimum of the listed color of each gem socketed into your gear in order for the metagem to function.
For example, if you want this gem to function you need a minimum of 5 of each color gem socketed into your gear in order for the gem to work. If you dont meet the requirements the gem's abilities dont function.

I was super-pumped for this gem (being a dw enhancement shaman) when I saw it pre-bc, but 3 weapon damage equates to roughly 16 ap (2.6 speed mainhand/offhand) and the proc chance on the stun is 1%. Meaning 1 out of every 100 hits (mathematically) would proc this 1 second stun.
The boot enchant/meta combinations below would be tons better (assuming all other enh shamans value 108% runspeed as much as me):
Enigmatic Skyfire + Boar's Speed - 12 crit, 9 sta, 5% root/snare resist, runspeed
Powerful Earthstorm + Boar's Speed - 18 + 9 = 27 sta, 5% stun resist, runspeed
Swift Skyfire + Surefooted - 24 ap, 5% root/snare resist, 10 hit, runspeed
Keeping in mind that a.) all Boar's Speed enchants could be replaced with Cat's Swiftness (6 agi/runspeed) and b.) cost was not taken into consideration when writing this, as this was written to show other enhancement shamans what was out there, not neccessarily what they could afford.
As the game is now, I will be striving for the Powerful Earthstorm + BS combo for PvP myself as certain class(es) make stun resists and mass sta neccesary for survival in PvP, but when they get the balances they deserve I'll end up with Swift Skyfire + Surefooted.

Requirements are a bit hefty.
The red and yellow gems are pretty easy to get but the blue ones are a bit ahrd, to the extent that if you did get enough green/purple ones your dps would be nerfed to such an extent that the +3 damage wouldn't even make up for it.
The stun effect is hax tho, I cant wait til i have enough socketed items to chuck one in my outfit.

Anarkix, if you have a 2.6 speed mainhand and off-hand, you should attack once every 1.3 seconds on auto attack. You're then gaining the +3 damage benefit every 1.3 seconds, or 2.31 DPS. On auto-attacks, 2.31 DPS is roughly equivalent to 32 AP, so don't discount this gem so quickly.

With a 2.6 speed MH and a 1.5 speed OH, you get +1.2 dps and +2 dps, so this will increase your autoattack dps by 6. Also, since SS = 40 energy and you get 20 energy per tick, you can SS once every 4 seconds after you hit the bottom. This gains you .75 dps. So the +damage gives you a total of +3.95 dps.
The stun proc lasts 1 second, which is relatively inconsequential, and has a 1% proc rate, which is relatively rare. On the whole, this is a decent gem, but the +damage gives about 4 dps on top of what you already do (in crappy blues I can easily get 400 dps without cooldowns), and the stun proc isn't worth getting it for. Not worth 150-200g IMO. And wasting 4 gem slots that could have been used for +hit is not good.

Confirmed. The stun does proc for feral druids in cat form. Dueled a moonkin between arena matches and it procced twice in the same duel. Will try and grab a screenshot of the combat log later. The log just states "%t is affected by Stun" in white. Something along those lines.

1% chance to stun the target for 1 second, with mace specc and a deep thunder this is ace for a warrior, it would also be a very nice gem for a mace specc rogue with dual maces. Some of you might think its a rip with only 1% for 1 sec stun but tbh it all adds up to quite a frequent stun if you have the right specc for it. Also the melee damage increase is rather nice.

Most Rogue friends I know, most Warriors and most of you theorycraft how nice this would be stacked with Combat Mace spec or Warrior Mace Spec/Deep Thunder proc. However I believe this would quite suck in practice, and here's why:
The 1sec stun of this gem triggers your "uncontrolled stuns" diminishing returns, cutting an incoming 3sec Mace Stun proc in half.
Basically if this procs first you burn a valuable 3 sec Mace Spec stun and get a 1sec stun instead, on top of that, 3dmg is not very interesting if you're Mace specced Rogue, and even worse if you're a 2 Hand Mace Warrior.
This gem is far better with daggers, you get alot more from the +3dmg, and since the stun is 1% based, it will proc more often with daggers than with maces and will not affect your other stuns.
Combat rogues should get one of the other gems.
18sta/5%stun Resistance (coupled with Nerves of Steel) is a good choice for PvP, Thundering Skyfire is probably best for PvE.
To make it simple and clear, just keep in mind that this doesn't just add 1% to your Mace Spec, it's funny how everyone seems to assume that. It is a 1sec stun, independent from your spec, that triggers the diminishing returns on your longer, more useful Mace Spec stuns...

So my mace stun with thunder does 3 sec stun but with this gem it adds 1 sec to my stun to make it 4 sec or is it its own stun and if so for how long and whats the proc % on it.

I recently put this gem into the merciless dragonhide hood. So far I am very disappointed. The +3 dam is nice for cat form (46.2 AP) but not so good for bear (18.5AP). The stun just doesn't go off often enough to make this gem worth it imo.
PvE, bosses can't be stunned, so its no good there.
And so far in PvP since tuesday I have only had the stun work in my favor 2 times. The other times I have seen it proc were on a near dead opponent.
I will leave it for the AB weekend and keep an eye on it, but I think I am going to start farming for the Powerful Earthstorm(

This is possibly the best DPS gem available for cat form feral druids. +3 damage works out to 42 AP, beating out Swift Skyfire Diamond. Cat form's special attacks all have huge multipliers on the melee damage (Mangle: 130%, Shred: 192% x 130% more from the Mangle debuff = 249.6%!). Thundering Skyfire Diamond's haste doesn't help your yellow damage at all.
The only drawback is that there's no actual AP, which helps your Rip and Ferocious Bite.

The value of this gem to mace specialized arms warriors is not in the duration of the stun so much as the fact that it interrupts spells and completely screws casters.
Another thing to consider is that if you are proc'ing enough stuns to worry about diminishing returns you're probably winning.
Compare this gem to what warriors have to give up in order to have this, namely 5% snare resist and +hit, and it makes me pretty happy that I had the foresight to make my warrior a gnome, even though escape artist sucked for the longest time. I don't think there is a bigger class/race dropoff between gnomish warriors and other warriors in the game except for possibly dwarf priests.

Here's a summary:
This is best for fast hitting melee classes, because of how +weapon damage works
This will greatly improve skills that have high modifiers (e.g. Backstab, Ambush, Mangle).
The proc is 1% chance to stun for 1 second, and its range is 5 yards (Melee)
The proc will trigger the uncontrollable stuns diminishing returns timer (Unconfirmed)
Who benefits the most from this:
Dagger rogues (All specs)
Feral druids (Cat)
Fury warriors (Dual wield + fast weapons)
Enchantment shamans
edit: As for fury warriors they benefit a lot from +AP, so a slow hitting fury warrior may not benefit much from this

This trinket do Not share cd with any other stun thingys i know off,
i got a Deep Thunder, + Mace talents + Meta gem Stun all in one ans same Hit,
and this meta gem, Can Go off from aoe'ing melee hits,
i stood with two feral druids and a holydin on me, when i cleaved, whirwind'ed, cleaved, all 3 attacks hitted the pala and all 3 proced some sort of stun, damn i would whine if i die in bear form to a warr with a holy pala in my back xD
Thu this dont share Cooldown, it Does Share DR, its a !@#$ty MS gem, thu the feral druid both in pve and pvp has Great use of it.
and wtf were you guys talking about with the shaman, we all know that shamans are 2xslow weapons, the fury warrior ?, i would still take the 3% crit dmg, since a decent fury warr has about 30-40% crit and after WW got boosted i'll take two slow weapons in as fury

ok i got designs like this one and for some reason where it says required gems it is greyed out but yet i got more than enough to do it but its still greyed out... is there something im missing? two people tryed to explain this to me and both people told me the two diffrent things

Well, I dont know... 1% stun seems very situational and unreliable.
If I was a feral druid I'd probably go with the stun resist, combined with the stun resist talent - if they indeed do stack.

I farmed lvl 70 elfies for well over an hour and the only time I saw it go off is when I shifted out to heal on a bad pull and my staff hit caused it to proc.

Meta is a special socket slot that powerful gems go into, only head pieces are capable of having meta sockets at this time.

anyone have any information on whether this proc occurs in feral forms? items have in the past affected "weapon damage" or "melee damage" in feral forms as normal, but would the stun happen?

Yeah this works in feral a guy in my Underbog group (lvl 70helping us out) was procing it left and right in cat form.

The "requires X red gems" requirement means that you have to equip items that have the required color gems in them. Note that the color of the gems matter, not the color of the sockets. Also, you get all the effects from these gems (since you equipped the items with them) AND the effect from the meta gem. So for example, if you equip an item with this meta gem, but you don't have any other gear with gems socketed, then you don't get the effect. But on the other hand, if you have 5 red gems socketed, you have met the the first requirement. Also as explained above, the "multi-colored" gems can help fulfil two different requirements. For example, a gem that fits both a blue socket and a red socket count as both colors when filling the requirements for the meta-gem.

If you click on the 'chance to stun' in the description you can see that the spell has a 1% proc rate.
On top of that it's only a 1 second stun. I'll personally be going for the 18 stam and 5% stun resist meta gem.

my druid has this gem slotted and it procs more often then .1%. In cat form it will sometimes proc more then once in a fight farming 72 non-elites. I'd guess the proc rate is somewhere around 1-2%, but it only seems to proc off white damage.

Well, I've been using this for a while on my enhance shaman, and thus far, I'm really underwhelmed by it.
The +3 damage is very minor. Not terrible, but not really something you're going to ever notice.
The stun is lackluster at best. I hit very fast (Stormstrike, Flurry, haste effect from Drakefist Hammer), and the proc will go off once every 3 or 4 mobs, at best. It's only 1 second, so unless you happen to interrupt a caster, you're not really going to notice much difference in the fight.

42 AP gives you 3dps, but 3dps does not give you 42 AP
I get AP so that I can have a better victory rush and/or bloodthirst. If you are using AP only for dps purposes, then this is pretty hot. If, however, you are using it where you have moves that require AP, I would look into the AP meta gem. Plus, if I recall correctly, the requirements are a lot less strict

The stun effect sucks.
It is 1% for 1 second stun.
BUT
The +3 weapon damage that has been discussed thus far is being compared to AP and DPS in above posts.
14 AP = 1 DPS
+3 weapon damage = (Hits per minute/60)*3 DPS
Hits per minute including specials.
In Example:
Sinister Strike
Stormstrike (shaman)(Dual wielders get dbl benefit)
Whirlwind
Example Situation:
Rogue w/ Drakefist and Blackout Truncheon
With SnD, Blade Flurry and occasional procs.
~120 hits per minute
(120/60)*3 = 6 DPS
24 attack power = 1.71 DPS
If you're going by DPS who is the clear winner?
Not to mention because it is a static damage increase that it can benefit from crit exactly.
+3 damage = 6 damage crit.

Just replaced this gem with 20AP/Faster Runspeed on my Drood.
The proc rate is diabolically bad. If I'm really lucky, the stun might proc once or twice in a BG...which is nice when it happens, but the stun is only 1 second duration.

Ok. does anyone have the time to figure out what the proc rate of this in conjunction with full warrior mace spec, and the lvl 70 epic blacksmith 2h mace, deep thunder... mace spec procs quite often, and it seems that the stuns on deep thunder do... anyone know what all 3 of these stun effects would add up to?]

I dont know about rogues or warriors, but for Feral Druid dps, this gem would really translate into 42ap.
In Cat form, the game considers we´re using a 1.0 attack speed wpn, you might call it the "Feral" weapon, hence the "Feral skill increase" available in some items.
That +3dmg would be worked into mangle and shred only though.
Rip and Ferocious Bite do not take dmg into account, only AP itself.
Still, seeing that Shred is our main dmg dealer, its a pretty awesome gem for us while in Feral dps. Of course, its pretty bad for tanking.

Okay, first and foremost, this is pretty freaking sweet for a Mace Speced Rogue, especially if they have the BS mace in their main hand. Yay, haste rating! But, the more stuff they have the gives a "chance on hit, large haste rating," the better! See, that way, even though the stun is only a second, if you hit three times in that second, that's pretty bad ass, right there, and can win you a fight.
Fury Warriors should like this, since they don't get stun mechanics. I want it for my Warrior, but not toooo much.

The difference between AP and +melee dmg is this - AP only increases your 'DPS' where as +melee dmg affects your weapon's min/max weapon damage ranges.
It doesn't seem like much but you always notice when you get a new weapon upgrade, especially as a melee class, that your damage goes up too. It's not because the weapon you're using has like the same speed and damage ranges and just tons more AP. It's because it's damage range is higher and you will on avarage hit higher with it.
As you can see from this page:

So let's pretend we have a dagger that is 1.8 and does 100 to 150. Attack power is set at 1000. Let's also pretend that this dagger is in the main hand, so no DW penalty applies.

55.5 + 71.4 * 1.8
55.5 + 128.5
184 minimum hit.
Now w/ 3 extra damage on your low end damage range, that becomes...
103 / 1.8 + ^
57.2 + 128.5
185.7 min hit
That is a .99% increase in damage done, active all the time. It's by no means impressive, but, it's still not horrible either. They could have taken out the stun proc and added something else, or just more melee damage done in place of it and been fine. A 1% increase in damage done, always active, is a whole "Murder" talent point for a rogue but applies to all mobs and not just Humanoids, Dragonkin, Beasts, and Giants.

Everyone is talking about completely uthess of that 1% stun, but i think it's best for arena MS warrior, because there arent much gems that can do better than it - all good i can think about is root or stun resist, but they since regen 10% of war's hp :p
After i used Deep Thunder, i wanna become a stunlocker :)

Thanks, these comments were quite informative. I was musing over getting this for my feral druid, but seeing how low the proc rate is I think I'll pass. Seems better suited for stun-weapon rogues/warriors. I'm currently using the +12agi & 3% increased crit dmg meta, seems to suit me just fine. :)
