Does any1 know if the +dmg bonus is a raw +dmg, as in adding 47 damage directly to the consecration spell making it deal ~+6 dmg per tick (47/8 ~ 6), or does it work like normal +spell damage items and only adds a small part of 47?
There is a bug with this libram at the moment that causes Seal of the Crusader to stop refreshing on a melee hit.
if you click on the text and read it says it applies an aura that will override class scripts.
i would assume that it would mean that unlike +damage it actually changes the spell to do an extra 47 damage over the 8 sec not adds damage based on spell coefficients
I picked this up in a heroic run the other day. I was healing the run but decided to try it out for one of the owl-packs two rooms before Ikiss. It increased the tick of Consecration by 3 damage. That is to say, in what was otherwise healing gear, max-rank Consecration went from 93 damage a tick to 96 damage a tick.
Either it's bugged or it's not worth it. Vendorbait.
I'd say this is the best libram for tanking until you get the one from the heroic badge vendor. I also re-equip this when asked to tank something lower, like a standard 5man for a friend farming a drop or reputation.
Sure its only a few dmg per tick, but thats more aggro for you, means the runs will generally go faster.
While a great boon for starting tankadins in BC instances, A great use for this Libram is aoe farming. Use rank one Consecrate, get a free 23 dps (with your spell sword on, anyhow), and add yet more damage to that almost free consecrate? seems like a good idea to me. When you're on the black temple plateaus, you blow all of your HS charges within two seconds, so losing the 20% block chance from repentance won't be too much of a penalty.
Lose the block chance you won't have most of the time, only to gain more spell damage with that nigh-free consecrate? I thought so. Imagine using a full-ranked consecrate, with your wings up on that plateau with this baby on. I can see you hitting upwards of 150 damage per tick on each mob with this libram.
I'm picking this up for AOE farming, that's for sure.
This Libram is great for Tankadins who are AOE-tanking Hydross' adds.
Since their attacks can't be blocked, Libram of Repentance (the usual tankadin favourite) is useless, and this Libram makes the best substitute.
Any libram is good to have, any extra dmg a Pally can do is great. This particular one is great to have. I makes running through low lvl guildies a breeze in instances. And haveing this for any boss that spawns adds is key in containing all aggro and preventing your clothies from dying due to the adds.
Best libram if you are aoe tanking in hyjal since your job here is to consecrate to do massive aoe threat
You are forgetting that the shield block libram adds survivability as well as threat. Personally, without the defense/10% block value libram, I AOE tank in MH with 430 block value. So what if the charges are gone in 2-3 seconds. With my block value, that is 3440 damage I did not take. Mitigating damage to me is far superior than a measly little 47 spell damage from concecration.
I think you are misunderstanding the game's Block mechanics in combination with Holy Shield. Holy Shield lasts for up to 8 blocks every 8 seconds,
, regardless of the effect of
Libram of Repentance
. Increasing your block chance (with block rating) on an AoE group only means your Holy Shield will probably run out quicker.
It will still only block 8 attacks over 8 seconds.
. After those 8 blocks have taken place, Libram of Repentance has no effect whatsoever until you can refresh Holy Shield again.
Your Block Value (the amount of each blocked attack you actually mitigate, quite a different thing from Block Rating) is not changed by Libram of Repentance, and therefore it doesn't provide any increase in mitigation whenever all charges of Holy Shield actually gets used, such as most AoE tanking situations. It also doesn't increase threat, once again because you only get 8 charges, and the damage from each Holy Shield charge is just as unchanged by Libram of Repentance as your block value is.
This is not saying that Libram of Repentance is bad, in fact it's a great Libram. But the reason for that is that it provides about 5% block chance towards your becoming uncrushable against raid bosses: you have to reach 102.4% combined avoidance with Holy Shield active. For AoE tanking however it's useless, and you're much better off switching to something that will increase your threat such as this Libram of the Eternal Rest.
Working on gearing a prot pally and though this libram to me seems good, it's effectively giving you more threat, which is always welcome. There seems to be mixed feelings about it. some people saying its useless while others like the last post saying its a good libram to even use in Hyjal.
Maybe the hyjal is situational i dont know, but what are peoples opinions that use it. Is it any good and if so do you notice a marked improvement it extre threat generation?
Does anyone know if this applies to the total damage over 8 sec or the damage per tick?
Just as a rough thought..prolly around 7 more dmg a tick...not bad for tanking really....
Concecrate is an AoE, so total damage added is
47 / 3 = 15.66667
8 ticks, so damage per tick is 15.66667 / 8
1.958333 damage per tick.
...that is, unless consecrate is an exception to the standard spell damage rules
Actually, you're both off...but only a little.
It recieves 100% of the 47 (applied across 8 ticks) as this bonus is given directly to a spell, not a school of spells or spells in general. The only modifier for this would be the diminishing bonus thru downranking.
does this generates offticks or damage stacks with standard amount of ticks ? does this libram generate more threat or I'm just superstitious prot pally? :)
Personally, I think this is the best Libram for a prot pally before Libram of Repentance. Any extra holy damage is extra aggro, which makes me plenty happy. In my tests, Rank 1 got about +20 spell damage (I use Rank 2 for extra aggro, and it gets about +30)
I as a Tankadin would love this one. and ive been grinding it but havnt gooten it yet..
So i guess the droprate is really low thott say 3.6% atlass say 14% ive downed him 24 times so far. havnt seen it drop yet..
Working on gear, I've become uncrushable without using Libram of Repentance, which means I don't have to waste any badges on getting it. Uncrushable means any extra block value beyond 102.4% avoidance while Holy Shield is active falls off the hit table, making our "best" libram worthless.
This seems to be the best possible choice until Mother Shahraz.
yea having many options of items is very good, dont throw away yoru items because you may need it later to swa out items to make sure you have the 102.4%
47 or 47%, cos on russian it says %
