Does anyone know where this drops from?
So with a 5 point rip this will do and extra 20 damage per tick? OK but not fantastic I guess.
This idol adds 160 extra damage to rip if there's mangle debuff on all the time. And I wouldn't waste (myself) global cd for some tiny 24 extra damage, which is reduced by armor, in any situation (even in raids).
DPS Macro using Idol of Feral Shadows
You start out with having Idol of the Wild (
) or Idol of the White Stag (
Idol of the Wild (
) or Idol of the White Stag (
Everbloom Idol (
Idol of Feral Shadows (
/castsequence reset=12/target Mangle (Cat), Everbloom Idol, Shred, Shred, Idol of Feral Shadows, Rip, Idol of the White Stag
If the reset counter doesn't suit your needs just change it. But assuming you start out with 100 Energy and you do not have the tier 6 bonus (
Mangle: 40 Energy
Shred: 42 Energy (with the talent Shredding Attacks (
Rip: 30 Energy
Total Energy needed: 154
With 20 Energy regenerated every 2 seconds the duration of the reset in the macro should be:
1.5 sec GC x 4 attacks = 6 sec
In these 6 seconds 60 Energy will be regenerated, which gives enough to complete the macro. However, changing idols takes close to 0.1 seconds, and this will happen 3 times, which in total gives (6 + (0.1 x 3)) = 6.3 seconds.
From the data above the reset value should be 6.3 seconds, however, you will start out with close to zero Energy for the next loop, so to make that loop work you need (100 / 154 x 2) = 1.2987… seconds per attack, which in total gives us 11.5948… ~ 12 seconds.
If you do have the Tier 6 bonus set the value to 11 seconds (reset=11).
Also take into consideration the Tier 4 bonus and Omen of Clarity procs
In the macro also remember to change Idol of the White Stag to Idol of the Wild if you haven't obtained the stag idol yet.
Swapping items like this can cause FPS drops and is very annoying to listen to in the long run. And if rogues do their job right this shouldn't be needed at all… ;)
And remember, it's not 100% reliable and requires of you to spam (and I mean spam) the button!
this item gets buffed in 2.4
just like the other underpowered feral items
in a pve instance situation a cat ideally only mangles once every 12 seconds
idol of the wild then adds 24 dmg over 12 seconds
asumming rip is up 75% of the time, this idol adds 28 dmg every 3 seconds using 4 cp
that is 84 dmg unmigrated by armor and it is affected by mangle
however in solo pve, one mangles most of the time, making idol of the wild supperior for grinding
227.5 extra damage with mangle in 2.4. Still doesn't make it worth switching out for the everbloom idol but it definately takes second place.
would be nice for endgame DDing, since you know Rip on high-HP mobs/bosses over FB anyway, at least when they can bleed - also very useful when you have/want to melee the guards in Halaa - yesterday, three remaining guards disappeared, we raided the 'island' in search of the guards, but only found the respawning ones - and lots of allies on the way through were so kind to provide marks ;)
That's a whooping +80dmg per 5 combo Rip finisher, or am I missing something here?
adds 20 damage per tick, its not bad at all for a pure dps role.
remember Mangle also adds +30% damage to all bleed effects, including rip
For a pure dps role you will only use mangle to keep up the debuff so idol of the wild wont be a good dps boost. This one however is until you get the one you can buy for 15x badge of justice.
Does this affect base damage, or is it just a non-scaling damage modifier to the total?
If it's base damage then it would also scale with attack power which would be reaaaallly nice.
As I have seen from the news regarding Patch 2.4.0 coming soon, some Idols will have their quality raised. So this one will do not 4, but 7 more DMG per CP. That would be, at a 5CP Rip, 35DMG per tick -> 35x6=210 total DMG to a 5CP RIP. With mangle up as well, add 0.3x210 to the table and druids get some nice 210x1.3=273 total final DMG bonus. Not bad at all, especially for PvE DPS. And thinking of the fact that in combat the idol can be swapped, one excellent combination would be to keep 3-4 idols around for maximizing total DMG output.
For example, in a boss fight: have the
Idol of Terror
for the opening mangle (assuming you are the only druid mangling the boss) - so that you have a chance of getting the 65 AGI buff - then swap for
, shred for 4CP, then furthermore, if u have it, swap for
Idon of the White Stag
for a mangle with more AP and the full 5CP gathered. After this swap for
Idol of Feral Shadows
and use Rip. thus Rip will benefit from both the idol AND the boost of AP from the White Stag mangle.
Ofc, depending on availability of these Idols, variations on this theme can be used.
