This drops from the Crone in Karazhan (part of the Opera event -
). It looks exactly like the item icon.
I would imagine it's something to do with the parsing of data ??
Thisis definatly a shaman weapon... Pallies could use it but it works way better with enhancement shamans.... Im guessing BoP and really effing rare drop for karazhan
Well, since this is about the only caster-stat oriented axe in the game, I personally would probably let an enhancement shaman roll on it over my own paladin. However, this seems to be an incredible weapon for ret paladins, and to a lesser degree: hunters.
Either way, still the first axe I've seen with caster stats on it.
This is certainly a great weapon, but the Sonic Spear is indeed better for hunters unless a) You have a tiny mana pool or b) you have over 6% +hit. Even then you probably will still want to use the spear most of the time and Legacy only for prolonged boss fights. To sum it up, if anyone else wants it let them waste/spend their DKP. If not, take it for yourself.
I have this axe, as well as the Lunar Crescent (Master Axesmith crafted). The Crescent dominates for damage, but I use this axe all the time for pvp and fights where survival is key. In an arena, I start with this, and later in the fight (perhaps when dropping LOS and can afford the global) I swap, as stam and int only affect your max mana/health.
This is also useful for 5mans like Blood Furnace 2nd boss where you will likely get hit a few times, need the extra stam on your pet, and can't really affort to feign+drink for long as you're expected to burn waves down fast while chain trapping another add.
Paladins would not get any use out of the 72 attack power out of this depending on a paladins role in the raid. This wouldnt be as useful to a shaman because they to have 11 points into enhancement to get the 2h maces and 2h axes skill out of it. And even so I still wouldn't use a 2h if I was a shaman and were raiding unless there is a special occurance. Much better put to use for a hunter than those 2 classes, but they can all use it.
Being buffed in 2.1
With the 2.1 Patch changes to this weapon, there (imo) isnt any other weapon better for hunters!
perhaps a few 1 handers (daggers...) but with 120 ap and 1% crit without enchants this is the best for pure dmg. The MP5 is nice as well.
Raptors will hit so hard with this baby
Wish i didnt give it to the palydan when it dropped :(
Time to raid more KZ...
A combination of Spiteblade and maybe emerald ripper or Blade of the Unrequited, with enchants might be better.
Then again, savagery doesnt fit on a 1 hander :)
i'm a holy paladin... 3rd run in Kara... dropped "gauntlets of renewed hope" (
), "boots of valiance" (
), AND this ( i was the only paladin).... tried to convince te hunter this weapon was good for him but he didn't want this.... then we discovered that legacy will be buffed in the next patch... poor hunter
According to my calculations, this will indeed the best overall Hunter Weapon for PvE (besides Moon Cleaver and Bloodmoon that is)
I had Sonic Spear when it dropped last week, Pallies didn't want it as they got stuff like Gorehaul. I didn't knew that it's gonna get such a huge buff, the only reason why I took it was because we didn't have anyone able to d/e. Now thats what I call luck.
I thought there were supposed to be item buffs today :(
No 8mana per 5 sec is exactly what it says. That you get 8 mana per 5seconds. When item say hit they dont say 1% hit anymore theyll say hit rating which then is calculated to a percentage.
in my opinion it's only the best hunter if you don't need the hit from sonic spear.
this dropped for me yester, and i'm really happy about it :), but i need more hit on my gear before i can use it.
I am looking to pick this up in Karazhan (if we ever get Oz event again...only once so far), and as a hunter, was wondering which would be the better enchant for it. Should I go with +35 agil or savagery (70 AP)? I am a pure pve hunter.
Never got to know what blizz intended with the very first version of this weapon. It's a tottaly diff weapon now, perhaps the one that has changed more with the boost in epics blizz has done.
Actually, there is a spear called the Halberd of Desolation.
365 - 548 Damage Speed 3.50
(130.4 damage per second)
Durability 120 / 120
Requires Level 70
Equip: Improves hit rating by 30 (1.9%).
Equip: Increases attack power by 100.
That is the best hunter weapon for now, it is from the black temple.
It drops off of High Warlord Naj'entus.
I highly recommend this Axe for any MM/BM High DPS Hunter, as it is the 4th in raw RAP available in the game.
Legacy (The Crone, Karazhan) has 120 RAP, plus about 460 HP, 8 mana/5 secs and some crit%.
Axe of the Gronn Lords (Gruul, Gruuls Lair) has 124 RAP and 660 HP, but lacks m/5 secs and crit.
Twinblade of the Phoenix (Kael'thas, The Eye) has 148 RAP (assuming you socket with Bright Living Ruby, Wicked Noble Topaz and Balanced Nightseye, which are all AP Gems), some %crit and 510 HP.
Finally, Halberd of Desolation (High Warlord, Black Temple) has 151 RAP, 570 HP, 30 Hit Rating and %crit.
Also, a bonus with these weapons for any hunter is the possibility of enchanting these 2-handers with Savagery (+70 RAP) and +35 Agility (adding 35 RAP, %crit and Armor).
I'm happy with a Legacy with Savagery =D.
Sincere, this weapon is really great for Hunters, I kept it thru T4 and T5 when I got Halberd of Desolation, nonetheless, for a Hunter that just got lvl 70 this weapon is really good :)
A page on LEGACY is not the proper place to have a debate on which enchant to get between agility and savagery. If you want to debate that go to the hunter forums or god forbid to the actual enchant pages on wowhead. This place is for discussing Legacy. How you enchant it is up to your personal playstyle and we don't care here.
can someone compare this to gorehowl instead of sonic spear -..-
Performs for arms warriors
About 45 front-end damage and 5 stam shy of Gorehowl
Reasonably comparable DPS to Mooncleaver, lose crit rating and gain 46 stam
If your hunters/pallies aren't rolling and you want a free, easy-to-obtain alternative for your axe-spec, don't pass up Legacy
(Disclaimer - you may receive undying harassment from bitter hunters who assume you have deliberately outrolled or cheated another hunter out of this item, or are wasting the weapon - you have been warned!)
Does anyone else get the bug where it doesn't show up on your back?
this is a pretty good weapon for Survival hunters..slam +35 agi on it and you'll be wearing this for sometime...or until you get into ZA and manage to get Trollbane (
) put 3 +8 Agi gems with the +35 Agi chant on it...definitely drool worthy
Another thing that needs to be taken into account when switching from SS: Hit rating is just a percentage. It gives you a lower chance (key word) of missing. The raw ap is not chance, but pure numbers. So unless you have ridiculously low hit (below 100)Legacy is an upgrade.
This is such a warrior weapon!
(now you hunters know how we warriors feel)
This is ideal for a hunter, agi for dishing out crits, stam for some extra hp for you and your pet's hp, and the 8 mana per 5 sec isn't that bad either.
From 2.4 patch, Breeching comet is better get 2 of those and agi enchants and when this is +35 agi, those 1 handeds gives:
+ 2 yellow socket gems
+ socket bonus +8 att power
less stamina though
and less mana regenerating
hey i just got this yesterday in kara for my hunter so im wondering what type of enchant should i get .
im a Beast Mastery hunter if that helps to decide.
In many comments i see ppl who write about this axe's int. Was there intellect on this axe or blizz is gonna put some in the upcoming patches?
Got it yesterday on my hunter :) woot
wow! f******* need this thing :D rlly the best axe ...
Quite an amazing pallie and shaman axe, great stats and 106 dps is no joke. Decent for hunter's too, but there are better things out there for em.
Wonder what this thing looks like.
There's no denying it's perfect for a hunter, too, and pretty good for Enhancement shamans, but for you to claim that a paladin should be banned from raiding for rolling on one of the best Retribution paladin axes in the game... give me a break.
Like all weapons, many classes could use it. That doesn't mean that they should roll against the class it was designed for. It obviously benefits a hunter the most as it was designed for them. If no hunter in the raid wants it, go ahead and roll on it. Otherwise a pally rolling on it is like a hunter rolling against a rogue on a dagger just because it has some good agility on it.
Got it off Kara couple nites ago, I see as how it can be useful to Enhance Shammys, but really if there's a hunter in the group I believe the hunter should get priority (and I'm not just saying that cuz I am a hunter lol), there are better weapons for a shammy.
I got this axe on my hunter a little over a week ago, and it is really very nice for MM-hunters. As I am trying survival now i don't use the axe, but for longer fights the int and mp5 still come in handy. Also enchanted with Savagery =)
This is how it looks:
. . . and instead of grats, people keep coming up to me saying, "Why do you have an axe with mp5 on it?".
As if the rest of the axe doesnt exist. Funny. My damage is ridiculous with this thing. If there were a hunter/shaman on the raid I'd probably let them have it but since there wasn't, it is mine mine mine!
i'm a holy pally and my guild forced me to take it. i tried putting fiery on it the next day and my chant doesnt show up... anyone else have a similar problem?
Got it on my hunter last night. It, like many things, is a tradeoff. Great AP, stam, and useful int and mana regen at the cost of raw agi. I put the 70ap enchant on it, but if my agi dips too low, I can always lose some ap and put agi on it.
As for whose weapon it is, it's a pointless moot discussion. This drops in a 10-man instance that requires a well-coordinated group and guild. There's not a lot of confusion about who gets what. This is pretty much only suitable for a few classes’ builds and even fewer of those will get a spot in a 10-man Karazhan run. Most of the people arguing about what class it belongs to won’t see anything in Kara but the lobby.
It looks… garish and huge. I’ll take a SS tonight.
70 Enhancement shammy.... permission to drool please?
Enhancement shamans should be focusing on slow 1 handers like the mace off illhoof or the axe off prince for optimal windfuries. While DWing you get a 36% chance to proc WF, with a 2 hander you get the normal 20%. I have a hunter (MM 70), I have a paladin (Holy 70) and I have a shaman (Enh 56) and it's very hard to get good ret gear so paly is a heal$%^&*, and since I switched to DW on my shaman I've been using slow 1 handers and could not be happier and have no desire to swing with a 2h... wait 3.4+ seconds, swing again... pray for a WF, etc. There's a hidden 3 sec CD on WF procs while DWing but it's still a lot better for dps and aggro to go DW. All in all I'd take this on my hunter in a heartbeat, consider it for my paladin if no one else wanted it for pve then on my shaman if I ever lost half my frontal lobe and decided 2h WF was better than DW WF.
Arguments read attached:
Got this on my shaman today @ twisting-nether
alright. i ran this instance on my hunter for this and for sunfury. i got this but sunfury didnt drop. my guild leader, a paladin, gave me %^&* about needing on it. I flipped out and left the guild, along with irl friends and others. This isnt just a weapon that hunters, shams, and pallies can use. i'd say that shams and pallies have the same right to roll on it, but hunters have MORE of a right. im not saying that pallies and shams shouldnt roll on it, but hunters deserve it more. Hunters dont have the luxory of maces and such, and most of the other endgame 2-h's arent hunter weapons at all. Especially for MM hunters this weapon is amazing.
Gave this to a hunter in my guild. Nice weapon, good for hunters, paladins and shaman.
I'd love this on my 7-21-33 hunter. Compared to the +35 agi sonic spear (no, i didnt keep terokk's quill, going for only agi on a survivalhunter is a good way to become a onespot-taker AP buff for rogues, with sonic spear-alike gear you can still top damage and keep around 750 agility) its rather an upgrade. I got enough +to hit allready and the mp5 is welcome. Stamina is the least i care about on the item as my hunter is pve only but its allways welcome.
In our guild we wont see any pallys getting this anytime soon (so far, our attempts to bring a retripally has failed, its not a good tradeoff) and no shamans either (alliance, got one shaman in guild, resto, unlikely reciver of this axe). So for all hunterhaters, a hunter will get this one the next time it drops. On a sidenote; I dont get it, ive topped damage since zul gurrub with my hunter, thats a year ago, and my cc is perfectly good, i buff ap to rogues/warriors etc.. whats so terribly wrong with a wellplayed hunter? Yes sure, hunters are easy to play but very hard to master. Once you do that, you'll earn your spot easily.
Back to the weapon. Awesome 2h'er for any physical damage dealing manauser. I'll be happy if i get it.
Looks good for either a Hunter, Shaman, or Paladin. I think Shamans should have priority though and i'm not a Shaman.(Hunter)
Got this on my hunter yesterday. Only 1 shaman in raid who was healing specced, its actually quite nice for a hunter I must say. Better than I first thought
i just got this on my hunter, passed for pally who had it...told the druid to take it...he cant use it:P
so i had it. not bad really but the hh rep polearm has more raw dps, and anyone who is running kara should be able to get that... let yer pally have it if he wants it
anyone got a pic of this
And this would make a great pally axe
?the draenai were banned from argos? were they stealing stuff?
Your item scoring for this is whacked... it ignores that 40 agi will increase AP by at least that much.
best axe i ever saw..
This is one of the best Hunter 2handers for Survival. Shammy shouldn't get this before a hunter, and pally shouldn't get it before a shammy.
Remember back in the days of Zul'Gurub? There was this one two-handed axe that used to drop for us a lot, it was called
Zulian Stone Axe
I think this
is, in many ways, the level 70 epic version of the said Zulian Stone Axe.
The item description in yellow text says:
"Legend tells of this axe being wielded by Draenei exarchs since the time of their banishment from Argus."
Historically, according to lore, Draenei are protectors of the light and blessed by the Naaru, most closely associating them with Paladins and Priests. Argus was the original home-world of the Eredar before Kil'Jaden and Archimonde joined with Sargearas and pleaded with Velen to do the same, the exarchs, or commanders (roughly), were banished as Velen did not ally with his two associates.
Now lets talk about who the item here
go to: (Who can weild two-handed axes?)
Now the stats on the item are this:
40 stamina (400 health points)
36 intellect (or 540 mana points)
72 Attack Power (or 5.14 DPS)
7 mana per 5 seconds (or 7mp5)
Hunters utilize all the stats on this item because they have mana and and depending on their talents, gain more attack power based on the intellect stats. Hunters must first receive weapon training from a weapon master in a capital city before having the ability to wield the axe, Legacy.
Paladins utilize all the stats on this item because they have mana and with talents, receive extra intellect with a 5 point specialization in the Holy tree. Paladins must also receive training from weapon masters in a capital city before wielding this axe.
Shaman utilize all the stats on this item because they have mana and depending on their talents, are able to wield the axe with 11 points in the enhancement tree.
utilize all the stats on this axe, Warriors do not use mana therefore only receive a bonus in rate to weapon skill ups from the intellect and nothing from the 7mp5.
Achieving level 70 and attunement to Kazazhan is no small thing, you have
learned to play your class and realize the benefits you can get from this equipment.
I am more than sure that the raids to Karazhan are organized and fashioned differently, but a competent leader would not allow this item to a warrior as he or she would not gain all the stats on the weapon.
That being said it would be up to the highest roll or DKP bid coming from either the Hunter, Paladin or Shaman who wants the item.
can wield the item, so its not a dispute over who it should go to, its a question of luck (with rolls) or time (with DKP)
People with such an item are to be congratulated, not shunned or hated. Don't come in here with your level 14 Blood Elf and start proclaiming its a Paladin item, these stats are too unfocused to be limited to one class.
So int got nerfed...to bad that was a perfect 2h for ench shamies...well anywayz hunters enjoy this beauty to the max :)
this is maybe the first weapon i have ever seen which should absolutely without a shade of a doubt go to hunters before any other class.
as i believe Shamans(melee) using two handers are more meant for pvp, as Arms is meant for pvp, most classes will have two threes for pve one offensive( Shadowpriest, Feral druids, Fury warriors etc.) and one Defensive (Protection, Holy, Resto etc.)
some classes are ONLY agressive, Hunters, Warlocks, Rogues, Mages, (scuse if i forgot someone)
lets have a look at one off the more different classes:
Paladins: have only Defensive speccs, where some paladins might be confused, Retribution is a pvp specc, Protection is a pve specc and Holy is a pve specc, it is indeed sad being lvl 70 and realizing youll never do dps anywhere near real Dps classes. but life is indeed sad. Paladins are excellent tanks and truely overpowered healers, but no matter how many times you tell it too yourself before you go to sleep, you will never be dps. in the end paladins win in pvp because off their strong defences, and burst dgm. Shamans are offensive hybrids, paladins are defensive. paladins are indeed needet, and a very good class. but Retribution is a waste off Raid space, that is fact. the gear you give ret paladins, would give the raid so much more back, if it was fitted on a warrior...
this is indeed unique, as paladins are the only class which only works 100% in pve as Defensive.
doesnt this not please you? well Rerolling isnt hard, i done it 4 times now. usually Ret paladins never played any other class efficiently, which is sad :) play a fury to 70 and tell me you still do good dps with your paladin ;)
-Resto druid/shadow priest/Fury warrior/feral druid
Yup the rumours are true !
It was a Good Hunter weapon Before But seemed some ppl (mainly few pallies above) would like this also for DPS?
Now they put the +40 Agility so it Screams Hunter And that would make it easier for some to choose..
The only other class i could really think about that could benifit Nicely from this is a PvP Shaman (enchantment) And even they could get better weapons cause Intellect still Is a Lot better for em than Anything else ...
Come to think about it there was nothing Else in 2h Epic for a Hunter save this Axe and that is pretty strange since in All previous BC instances Hunters could get a Nice Epic from AQ as well as Naxx etc..
Now it seems the only Real Hunter Epic 2h so far is this crapie half decent lookin Axe ...
As much as I love and hate to say it, this is a Hunter weapon first off. Think of all the melee weapons Hunters can use... Terrok's Quill, Sonic Spear, maybe a rogue dagger here and there. Overall, not that much to choose from stat wise. Other classes have plenty they could grab, while Hunters dream of this until they get into Gruul's. Seriously, let them upgrade from that Sonic Spear instead of grabbing it and switching out from your last L337 epic drop.
Cool so hows that Mana per second working on your rage bar?
LOL, I've ran Kara for a long time and have only seen the Wizard of OZ event twice. Seen the Ruby Slippers twice!
33% chance to get wizard of oz event.
Then about a 25% chance to see legacy drop from Crone.
In all about an 8% chance to see it!
Us Hunters have 3 epic 2H options not counting Arena, 25 Man Raids, and BOP crafted (how many hunters chose BS).
1. Felsteel Reaper - Lots of AP, a little imbalanced IMO.
2. Quantum Blade - Decent balance.
3. Legacy - The crem del a creme. The Nicest weapon before Twinblade of the Phoenix and Haulberd of Desolation (again, not counting Arena's).
Blizzard Made Hunter Melee options very tough. I personally enjoy Spiteblade and Blade of the Unrequited from Kara (1H'ers). I got 2x15+ Agil on em. I kinda settled for them since I havent seen Legacy.
The Strange thing is I don't think I can put those down for Legacy (Maybe, only for PVE). Not many hunters like switching to 1H'ers, a choice I was kinda hesitant about but was excited to try it. Turns out I was able to substantially increase crit, agil and stam. I lost 60 AP from the switch from Blackened spear (with Savagery = 70+ AP) but it was worth it.
I guess my point is, unless the Hunter can flex to 1H epics the're a little screwed on gear. For example check out the search query I used below for 2H Weapons. There are so many with strength geared towards the melee classes. Strength is straight doodoo on Hunters.
Out of that list the 3 I listed are the only 3 pre- 25 mans/arena that Hunters can specifically benefit from. So If there is a Hunter in ur group when it drops please be polite and offer it to him. Filling that Melee Slot with an epic is tough for a hunter. In a way a melee class rolling on this with a hunter needing it in a group is like a Hunter rolling on Suneater, Despair or Gorehowl!
Feel free to check me out at:
Just checked the posts on Gorehowl and would like to say: Warriors don't want to see a Hunter with Strength, and Hunters don't want to see a Warrior with Mana per 5... Do we have some kind of agreement?
who is this for? let's look at the facts.
FACT: this weapon drops in a PVE raid
FACT: there are guilds out there who have brought and gotten positive results from the use of every class and spec in the game, your guild may not use or have had good experience with retadins, but others HAVE.
FACT: giving an item to a toon who will raid with it is ALWAYS better for the raid than giving it to someone who will only use it as a PVP toy, especially since these days most (but not all) serious PVPers want items with resiliance on them anyway. the accumulation of PVP toys should come second priority to the accumulation of necessary raiding gear.
FACT: some melee weapons truly ARE designed for hunters, not for their melee damage, but for the stats they provide that benefit the hunter's ranged attacks.
FACT: no warrior in his right mind should roll on this item, as it has mana regeneration (which warriors don't need at all) and no strength (which warriors do need considerably). any warrior who knows what he's doing and is inclined to raid with a giant 2H axe will be saving his DKP for Gorehowl, which is higher DPS, slower, and has a better selection of stats for a warrior.
FACT: the current incarnation of the shaman enhancement tree is more inclined towards the dual wielding than the use of two handers, at least for PVE. hence the presence of a dual wield specialization and lack of a 2H specialization, as well as the presence of numerous talents that work better with dual wielding and require fast hitting and critting, such as unleashed rage, shamanistic rage, and stormstrike. for most ench shamans, this would be a PVP toy, if anything.
FACT: every stat on this item is useful for hunters in PVE, barring of course the weapon damage, which is more inclined towards PVP (though you may have a survival hunter who likes to get in a nice big raptor strike/counterattack/mongoose bite with his wing clip as he gets back to range to retrap or kite, there are macros for doing all of these at once) to say that the attractive weapon damage should bar a hunter from rolling on this is basically saying hunters should never, ever, have equal roll on any melee weapon, regardless of its stats, or they are melee #$%^&*!s, indicating you know nothing about hunter mechanics.
FACT: every stat on this weapon is useful for a retribution paladin in PVE, but it is lacking in other stats that are critical to retribution paladins, most notably strength.
conclusion: this weapon is designed for hunters, possibly with a side consideration for retribution paladins.
finally got it with my hunter tonight and replaced it over sonic spear !
i am thinking of a +35 agi ench on it cause i could use some +crit because my ap is quite high enough so the +crit would be better!
And for the i want to tell this can be considered as a shammy or retri pala wep but shammy want more the 1h axe from prince so they wouldnt roll on this if they were smart and retri palies so far as i have seen there has never been one in a raid as far as i know ! and last warriors if it is ok for u to roll on this then we should roll on gorehowl although i think it sux for hunters !
happy raiding :D
Hunter weapon. end of story
Hey, im a hunter and i was wondering, if i were to get sonic spear and toss a savagery on it, would i keep that over a savage legacy? ive heard posts that SS is better and some say legacy is better, it would be appreciated if i were told which would be more useful for raiding :P
A warrior rolling on this is like a hunter rolling on Gorehowl. 'Nuff said.
I'm in the fortunate position of having Gorehowl on my warrior and Legacy on my hunter. Personally, I wouldn't want this on my warrior. The MP5 would kind of make me feel weird, carrying it around. The speed isn't ideal either. But maybe that's just me.
That being said, from my PoV, Legacy should be contested between 3 classes; paladin, shaman, and hunter. With that in mind, consider what each has available to them in Karazahn, in the way of 2 handers.
A correctly specced shaman or paladin can use Gorehowl (though it will always be an Arms warrior weapon, foremost), and get full AP benefit from the Strength. Either class can also use Legacy, which has a ton of AP too, plus handy MP5.
Further to this, ret. pallies can also use Despair, which also drops from Opera.
A hunter using Gorehowl will not get the AP benefit from it. Strength is wasted on hunters, and any hunter will look like an ass with Gorehowl equipped. But Legacy is *raw* AP, and so therefore totally fits the hunter bill, whatever spec they are.
To conclude: Shamans and Paladin's have OPTIONS for their melee 2 handers, assuming you can clear Kara regularly (and face it, which half-decent guild doesn't have Kara on farm by now?)
But for hunters there is only one realistic option, and it's Legacy.
Draw your own conclusions. But it seems fairly obvious to me who should get first dibs on this weapon.
Legacy is completely a hunter weapon ppl.i had been thiking for a long time if this or gorehowl was better, and this axe is definatly a good choice above alot of other axes
This Axe SCREAMS Hunter weapon. From the highest mountain top through the largest, most powerful sound amplifier known to the Universe, whatever that may be. Alien technology perhaps. Perhaps Morlock technology. Even throw the chuds in there, grimey as they may be.
looks like an protoss weapon
Hunter weapon no discussion. It is also good for shamans but shammies can get lot better weapons that this 1. Hunter's can't get melee and a proper ranged weapon so easy. Need's lot hard work. I got mine Legacy on my first raid on The Crone in Karazhan.
ugly? i think this looks great.
Funny run last night with all casters in group and no enchanter so I picked this for my tankadin. Just to have for annoying people walking around in shattrath ;)
How is this compare to
Axe of the Gronn Lords
Yay an other opera and still no "The Crone"
Oh well gonna get the s3 axe I give up
