This dagger... is....quite amazing. I hope Karazhan isn't a cake walk however... and groups can't just walk in and clean house.
This is probably either a super rare drop, like some current epics in the game (from Sunken Temple, Maraudon, Zul'Farrak), or, you can only get this on Heroic Mode. Something like that.
Delicious for dps casters of all types. The sword from gruul is on par and gruul is much harder to kill than prince. This is better than the dagger doomwalker drops because it has stats (sockets can't make up for only 8 int on a weapon >.<)
Just be warned mages and warlocks, that shadow priest you've loved all through karazhan will want to roll on this :)
The crit is awsome spell dmg is good though and the looks are nice.
compare this with orb of the soul eater and u got one happy lock
In my opinion THE best wepond for elemntal shamans
The graphic was changed slightly in last patch
It is more orange now....
If your a shadowpriest, dont go for crit for the sake of your life.
Only spell capable of critting is mindblast, so why to take crit? Get hit. And ALOT of spell damage. L2p. :s
As shadowpriest i would roll all i have for this.. Great update over Lower City rep mace.
This is such an amazing blade, for how easy it is to obtain, dropping off a mid-way boss in karazhan. the Bloodmaw Magus-Blade
is on the same level as this, but much harder to obtain, dropping off of Gruul. Even with that said, I still pass on the Magus-blade, to keep this, considering that the mindblade, u gain 2 stam and 3 int, while only losing 2 crit to the Magus blade. I used this blade all through SSC. Slap a soulfrost or sunfire on this baby, and add one of the offhands bought from badges, and uve got over 300 spell damage, from only 2 items, and a VERY happy caster =)
Prince has a ridiculously large loot table, so this may not drop for ages.
Which really sucks since some d***head warlock took it over me (s-priest) with a lucky roll, then used it for less than a week before he looted the sword off Leo with DKP...and I'm still waiting for another to drop.
What do you all think of a affliction lock rolling on this?? The Continium Blade is nice for my build, but it lacks the raw spell damage.
This dropped last night for me, our raid leader was dumb, he gave it to the spriest who had the Merc mace while I'm still using the blue sword from slabs. -_-
As a shadow priest, I couldn't disagree more. Sure it has +Crit; but the +dmg is absolutely massive for us at this point in the game, and THAT is what raiding shadow priests thrive off of (after being hit capped of course). Not to mention that priests don't have the option of using swords like mages and warlocks, which removes some significant drops from our list of end-game weapon choices.
I've been going for this for a long time, and an elemental shaman "friend" of mine has convinced that he NEEDS this, when he has Amani Punisher. I fail to see how 1% crit compares to the stamina, damage, and intellect loss. Someone explain the logic.
The +DMG is very good indeed. As a raiding Shadow Priest I know for a fact that our healers love the idea of us doing greater damage. The more damage we do - the cheaper it is for the healers to heal the group. This reduces the repair bills for casters if they then don't die from lack of healers mana / heals. This has got to weigh in our favor just a little bit.
Also, I think the healers would agree, Anything that reduces the cost of mana pot usage has got to be good :)
The debate about "Should this weapon go to classes who can make the best use of the stats, or to the ones who don't have viable upgrades outside of this for ages?" just proves one thing (at least in my opinion): Nathrezim Mindblade is simply THE benchmark for PvE caster DPS weapons. As a former balance druid (who may come back at any moment); I prefer huge stats of a 2H staff over the higher damage of an MH/OH combo, though (got a lot of talents that derive things from my INT).
Course, I'm not a shadow priest or affliction warlock; for them damage is mana and health. Mana is damage and health. Etc. I would still suggest that if one of them is willing to arena for S2 Spellblade (or is good enough to get S3), it has higher +dmg and a little bit of spell hit.
LOL CAITLIN DOESNT HAVE ONE
Shadow Priests eying this weapon might want to check out a weapon coming out with the new 2.4 patch:
Cudgel of Consecration
. It drops from Kael'thas Sunstrider in Heroic Magister's Terrace. It's got spell hit instead of spell crit, as well as a slot for a blue gem, and the same exact spell damage (203) - in reality it's got even more from the blue slot socket bonus at 205 total, or you can stick a +9 spell damage red gem in there for 211. To go even further, one could even try to aquire the head from Kael'thas in the same run and turn it in for a
Runed Crimson Spinel
for +12, bumping it up to an insane 215. Not bad for a heroic weapon.
im a 70 shaman. Just got all of my S1 gear. I pvp most of the time. love to gank. I have just one question though. Would you choose this dagger or the S1 glad dagger or glad mace? My guild does run kara but i believe im a little under geared and their is many people who want the dagger. Im leaning towards this mace but im not sure, id like to know your opinions. =) thx
Hmmm...interesting. Prince Malcheezar is a Man'ari Eredar...though he drops a Nathrezim weapon. The Nathrezim are also known as "The Dreadlords". How did he get this weapon ? Did he borrow it xD ? Did he kill a Nathrezim and stole it ?
This dagger is rly good, u can use it untill ur able to raid Bt and Mh
Fail. the ammount of extra crit, spell damage and hit you get from doomwalkers dagger are vastly superior to the measly extra int and stam from nazrithem. If you have problems with your mana use a mana pot, dps is always more valuable.
I am currently after this dagger on my warlock, but I can't get it to drop!
New badge dagger
blows it out of the water. 23 crit is nothing compared to more than double the stats.
Both: Bloodmaw Magus-Blade and Nathrezim Mindblade will be buffed to about 205 spl dmg after 2.1 :D
another nice blade.....

For the answer why would this be the best for aff lock the answer: Other classes benefit more from Crit chance than the dots =)
so ive been with a new guild for like 3 months. i spent time helpin out the guildees, got to no em and stuff. i started coming along with their raids in kara, and after a month of me joining they had downd prince, so we had been killing prince for 2 months. Most of my gear is epix from pvp and stuff (merciless and vengeful glad), the only thing that wasnt epic was my wep, which was Continuum Blade, hell i even had merciless glads off-hand.
so the only thing i needed from kara was that nathrezim mindblade, so get this, a shadow priest joins the guild a week ago. Ok, so the first raid this priest comes on, whaddya no, this blade dropped...of course i was excited cuz ive been waitin for 2 months (keep in mind ive been raiding with the guild for 2 MONTHS w/o takin ne loot, all i wanted was this wep), but my GM lets the shadowpriest roll and he wins! and omfg was i pissed! it turned out that he quit the guild the next day to get into a guild that was raiding SSC, that was the last straw, i just /gquit right there on the spot. Im done with raiding now, it didnt get me anywhere, so instead i just got merc glad spell blade and left the idea of raiding behind.
I would absolutly love this on my shadowpriest. Its a dagger which means its one of the few onehand weapons i can use with +dmg. All the swords have to go to mages and locks.

I picked this blade up last night and with +40 spell damage in addition to the sick 203 spell damage, I'm up to +900 Fire spell damage. It's a sick, sick weapon.
Title says it all, really.
And then tell me what I should need not need.
Good for all casters really, including moonkins, (who are excellent in any encounter if you know how they play...) maybe except affliction locks.
Got this baby today, still havent tested tho:)
finally got a 10 man group, getting everyone attuned up so we can raid kara finally. I can't wait to get this puppy. Hopefully I'm on my game that night, as I'll be competeing with a guild fire mage and guild shadow preist for dps (I'm a des lock). My crit went to crap with the gear I got from quests, and eventhough my fellow guild mate (a hunter no less) says locks don't need crit (he's aff, which explains it), I know better. Des locks without crit are like fire mages without crit. Pretty damn worthless. My crit sits at 19%, 20% buffed, so with this and some decent gear upgrades i'll beat the mage in dps. even with him wearing 40% epics. and as far as feral druids tanking, I much prefer them over prot warriors. sure the +5% crit from boomkin is nice and sexy and all, but honestly once you're over 30%, whats 5%? more like +20% agro&*!@#status

Mage vs Lock debate is pointless here. I have a both of these classes farming kara and either can top the dps chart depending on the boss. Warlocks actually do like to have crit since many of their spells DO crit, such as Seed, Immolate, Doom, Shadowbolt, Soulfire, Incinerate + more. To get +203 damage is the main thing though. Not all locks are affliction in any case and just because they might be when they raid doesn't mean that they aren't going to respec more into destruction at other times.
Half of our locks prefer this, the other half like the Curator staff for its other important stats.
Comparing it to the magus blade is meaningless unless the guild is doing both of those raids. This is so far superior to the HH Rep sword that it isn't even worth including in the same post. Comparing it to the BG staff might be more relevant now as that has +21 hit rating which this + Badges or NB offhand will give away.
This is a great weap for all offensive casters, all of whom should be able to roll on it, and that's about the end of it.
This blade is Uber! - with the + 50 dmg enchant on it i will be unstoppeble!Sad this that it hasnt dropped yet.
Juts hoping that locks will go for the sta staff and will be kind to give that to a mage.
Very nice caster 1-hander. Though, myself I like staffs better. They look better.
my title says it all,too ^^

this should be a shammy priority IMO considering preists should be holy (do ur jobs damnit), mages/locks have bloodmaw, and there is NO itemization in Kara for elemental shammies with the exception of Big Bad Wolf Head. GG blizzard, GG!
My gulid has had this darn thing drop 7 times now. We're running two teams, and we've gotten this for almost all our mages and warlocks in each group now. We don't have any elemental shammies, and our Shadow Priests have all missed out on the drops of this, but I'm sure they'll get it eventually with this sort of luck. What ticks me off is that we haven't had the Decapitator drop for us yet! :(
Drops off Prince Malchazaar - 2nd to last boss in Karazhan and evidently hard as crap
It is a caster item, ok!
Not "Mage, Shaman, Shadow Priest, Balance Druid, Warlock" specificly!
All Casters could benefit the bonus that this weapon gives..
Not letting a shadow priest roll on this dagger is a blasphemy. The more damage us shadow priests do the more mana and health the rest of the people in our group will recieve. as well as the nice dps that a well geared shadow priest can generate. Its a win win situation for any guild.
This dagger is for anyone that casts damage spells in a raid. If you, as a raid leader, bring a shadow priest, elemental shaman, or oomkin to your raid as a DAMAGE class and you ask them to do DAMAGE in your raid, then they should be able to roll on it. Asking a person to do something but not allowing them to get gear for it is obscene.
Yes, I'm a warlock, and yes, I got one of these babies last night. Would I have been upset if an elemental shaman, oomkin, or shadow priest beat me on the roll? Absolutely not. All three of those class/spec combinations will buff my DPS significantly.
And to anyone saying that the Staff of Infinite Mysteries is better for warlocks needs to learn to play. Sure, an affliction warlock who is heavily into PvP MAY prefer the staff over this blade simply because crit is near useless and stamina is nice. However, for warlock raid DPS, this dagger plus a decent offhand makes sex.
I'm a ________ in a guild that clears Kara every week (uber leet, you should think i'm special).
This is clearly a _______ only weapon and anyone that thinks otherwise is ^&*!@#ed.
We have a dedicated shadow priest.
We've cleared Kara and gruul's liar.
He's played a huge part to our raiding success and he gets equal rights to dmg gear/weapons as the locks and mages do.
NONE of our mages or locks complain. In fact our GM/masterlooter is a lock.
Guild progression > selfishness.
The more nice gear that goes around to your raid members, the better.
Raiding is not and will never be a 1 man team ;).
Honestly, I agree with everyone that says this item should be available for rolling to every caster DPS, be it hybrid or pure. I play a Frost Mage with 1022 +frost, and this along with a few other items would be an upgrade for me. The people I run Kara with are good friends, and I would not be angry with them for winning this blade over me. Tomorrow when we down this guy and if this drops, I will have to roll against a Shadow Priest, Affliction Warlock, and Moonkin Druid. Sure I'll be sad if I do not win the roll, but I know that it will go into the hands of someone who will put it to use just as I would. Congratulations to all Caster DPS that have won this blade. Just something to remember: increasing one person's DPS is increasing the whole raid's performance. If I lose, there is always next week. ^^
A) It's just a game. the point to have fun with friends.
B) If your group/guild made it that far in kara, you should all be mature/informed enough about your class to know what you need for gear from the place (if your hybrid, you would've also been polite enough to let other casters know it was on your wish list)
C) Shadow priests are casters on par with mage +lock. Maximizing damage for them is they're mission, as it increases they're utility to a group(Ie. increased party regen).
D) Ultimately, respect other people that are playing with you. If your someone less experienced, rolling on, or wanting items just cause' you saw they were purple, your group/guild should have never let you come (or removed you somewhere near the beginning of the instance).
As an Elemental Shaman, I would definitely like to have this dagger. I'd roll on it for sure, but I wouldn't be upset if a Mage/Lock/Boomkin/S-Priest got it instead. I do believe that Mages and Warlocks should TRY to grab caster swords if they can and leave daggers to the classes that can't use swords, but if that Bloodmaw Magus Blade just won't drop, then it's fair game.
Well i just got this a few hours ago from prince after 6 months of trying. I think its the happiest day of my life. Now its time to go farm the soulfrost enchant mats and go own some more bosses. And to all you noobs who think this dagger if for a certain class, its not. Any time when a certain class is meant to have a weapon over every other class blizzard makes it a class only weapon...dur
Wow, how has nobody pointed out yet that this is obviously a HUNTER WEAPON
Since season 3 - don't worry about this if you can't get it, just pvp for 1 weekend and get the gladiators gavel or spellblade - you lose some crit and a very small amount of damage, but gain stam and resil - either of those weapons will do you just fine until you get something better.
I just won the roll for this in Karazhan but as a Shadow Priest they didn't let me take it...I don't know what to do...I'm second in dps behind a enchancement shaman and ahead of 2 mages and other dps classes
All the noobs who think
"Only Shadow Priests and Boomkins should roll on this! Mages and Locks can use swords!"
/cry /cry /cry
Boomkins and Shadow Priests cant use swords they can use other weapons though.
So why should mages and warlocks not be allowed to roll on it if they can equip swords
If you two other classes can equip maces
So in that case no one should roll on it if you look at it that way.
I forgot to include shaman in this and i dont want to go back.
Got this tonight on my HOLY priest, no one needed so this and the cloak (spell hit/dps) went to me. More gear added to the bank.
