I'd love to have this trinket on my Enhancement Shaman since a good portion of their DPS comes from white damage and Windfury damage (which is a proc). Rogues would also reap near maximum benefit.
As for the 100% proc chance, this simply means the chance is not percentage based. These types of items go by a certain formula created by Blizzard which is based on your weapon speed, effectively making the procs per minute (or whatever time interval they use) the same regardless of how fast your weapons are. So, like DM: Maelstrom and others, do not expect to get mad procs by simply using fast weapons.
Also, druids are only swinging one weapon at 1.00 speed in cat form, while rogues with SnD, and possibly Blade Flurry are swinging two weapons at 1.50 second speeds. Good for a druid, but probably better for a rogue in my opinion. Regardless, any melee damage class benefits from a haste rating increase, no matter how fast they attack.
Got this today. Based upon an hour spent in the Blasted Lands, it seems to be somewhere around 1.3 ppm.
I would recommend warriors, hunters, rogues and maybe enhancement shamans. It would benefit either 2 Handed fury build warriors or any DW class. Its a toss up for anyone who wants to roll and any melee class or hunters that has decent damage output should have the right to roll on it. Works well with a Dragonstrike/Dragonmaw/Drakefist Hammer (1 Handed Maces with 200 haste rate proc).
For a very in-depth analysis of the trinket, look here:
with RF + Quicksots and procc i got my Attackspeed down to 1.16 "2.44 base 18slot quiver" on a 2.8 speed bow
this is BY far the best hunter trinket i have seen in game
the procrate is nuts and overwrites.
combined with quickshots i had both rebuff up to 5x both when i was testing @ dr boom
when u have both procs up u switch too Steady/Auto rotation so you and nuke arcane/multi whenever posible..
Abacus is better for Feral Cat Druids giving a solid 2.5 DPS and the haste rating in your rotation once every 2 minutes and control of the proc in long fights, where it will benefit a druid waiting for energy or an OOC proc.
a simle logic would be that, if you DW the haste would efect both weapons? so the increase in dps procentwise would be alot bigger for a rougue/Fwarr/ENCHshamy? id love this trinket for my DW shamy ^^
In that thread about 3/4 of the way down it is mentioned that only people who do mainly white damage attacks would benefit greater than another class who doesn't do a lot of abilities like mortal strike, sinister strike, execute, etc. The point is that this trinket should go to either people who have very slow weapons, slow dual wield weapons or just dual wielding classes overall. That is why warriors, hunters, shaman (enhancement), and rogues all want their hands on this trinket. It goes equally to any one of those classes with would benefit more of having the ability to dish out more white damage than yellow.
Haste effects benefit classes/specs with abilities that actually scale with haste the most. Which means that this is by far best for a hunter. Should go to warriors next, and the rest of melee dps after warriors. The simple logical reasoning for this is that haste affects around 80% of a hunter's damage output, 35-40% of a warrior (but warriors also would benefit from extra rage), and less than 30% of other melee.
Crazy trinket. Proccs all the time, totally worth it. Get it - now!
For a well-geared Combat rogue, this should benefit you in the range of about +40-50 DPS.
Looking for some answers here on this trinket:
How would u rate this compared to something like hourglass of the unraveller on DPS for a combat specd dagger rogue? Not sure if i should pick it up or what to do really.
If I was a warrior, I'd specc fury, get 2 Flurry Axes, 2 mongoose enchants, this trinket and the abacus of violent odds trinket, flurry, and a friendly shaman giving me a windfury totem and Bloodrage/Heroism.
I wonder what attack speed that'd result in. <3
Has +40 passive attack power added on newest PTR patch.
Tested this trinket on the PTR as a mutilate rogue (1.8 and 1.6 speed daggers) (no slice n dice up) for some solo grinding of level 70 mobs.
It procced every second or third mob, sometimes it would proc 2 times in 1 fight, and Afaik there is a very little cooldown or none at all, as i've seen it refresh its self before the buff ran out.
I have it on my hunter, and for those saying 1.3-1.7 ppm, that's definitely not the case.
I'm seeing far more, I should download a proc mod and check.
Perhaps it's because it's a ppm trinket on a 2.7 speed weapon, while attacking at a .8ish speed.
Is there a cap for melee haste rating? If there isnt then melee going for all the proc gear would let you reach 100% which would just be ridiculous
ok there is:
100% haste rating actually gives 68% increase to attack speed, ie your attack speed is multiplied by 0.32
This would be 3 times or so the white damage compared to 0 haste
As to non haste rating abilities such flurry, it may be possible to drop lower than this, perhaps shamans can get to 16%
Has NO cooldown :-)
Considering that the highest innate haste effect brings Sunfury Bow to 2.1 speed, a hunter will still get a huge benefit from the trinket. Although the slot was harder to justify when it didn't include 40 attack power, it would most definitely take the place of Hourglass or Bloodlust brooch easily. Especially in conjunction with something like Talon of Al'ar.
Here's some data from over an hour in combat raiding;
About 1.5 PPM for me. (Sword spec Rogue)
Could we get a PPM report from a feral druid based on an hour+ of normal combat?
A Fury warrior would get more out of this than a rogue honestly. Faster attacks = more rage = more specials = loads more DPS. Rogues only get some extra white DPS.
does improved aspect of hawk proc+trinket proc enough to gain the break point with bm macro hunter ?
normally steady-auto-steady-auto (+kc)
if u use rapid fire, u gain: steady-autoauto-steady etc.
rogue white damage is always 50% +++ of ALL rogue dps
each time this procs your off hand hits more....you build more energy due to combat potency.....and increase ur dps like hell
With the following Items it is possible to get exactly 1,050 Haste Rating (which equates to precisely 100%). Note: The Items Linked are for a Warrior because I was researching for my own.
Permanent: 253 Haste Rating
On Proc: 537 Haste Rating
On Use: 260 Haste Rating
Total: 1,050 Haste Rating (100%)
1,050 Haste is achieved with both the Dragonspine Trophy and Dragonstrike proccing at the same time and the Abacus of Violent Odds being popped.
"1,050 Haste Rating (which equates to precisely 100%"
It is impossigle to hit 100% because everything its kinda like a percentage of another percentage. So it basically approaches 0 but the more you stack the less benefit you get from it.
In the table below. WS = Weapon Speed. Haste = Haste Rating. Haste% is the obviously what it is. IAS is like heroism, Flurry, slice and dice, which all stack multiplicitively with Haste Percent. Total mod is the total of Haste% and IAS. Buffed speed is how fast you are swinging and Increase is the amount of increase you get from it. Numbers should be real close
WS---Haste----Haste%----IAS----total mod----Buffed Speed----Incease in Speed
Now if you notice here if i DOUBLE the haste I get.
WS----Haste----Haste%----IAS----total mod----Buffed Speed----Incease in Speed
So as you can see going from 1k Haste rating to 2k Haste rating you will only increase yoru weaponspeed by .28 roughly. But you will never hit 0. The biggest increase is in like the first initial 750.
This is one of the best trinkets in the game for an enhancement shaman. At least 80% of a shaman's damage comes from white hits/Windfury, and with two 2.6 speed weapons, with this and flurry up attack speed will be a little bit slower than 1.5 per weapon. This is as fast as you can get while not losing Windfury procs, making this trinket utterly insane when heroism is not up.
If the shaman has other haste procs/items though, like Abacus or the haste meta, or if heroism is up, this trinket's effect will diminish due to weapon speeds being faster than 1.5 and missing Windfury procs due to the 3 second cooldown.
Actually it's the 1.41-1.5 weapon speed valley you want to avoid, the modeling for some reason does not work correctly during those speeds. Faster than that is optimal.
Additionally, more haste doesn't lower the windfury procc rate, it lowers the Hit:Procc ratio. Meaning you will get more swings in before the 3 second CD is up again. Which causes WF to take up a smaller % of your overall DPS. Many people look at this negatively because they are looking at it from the wrong angle.
Please note that my post only regards Shamans, and the haste mechanics work fine for all other classes (as far as I know). Due to the randomness of Windfury it is hard to make accurate observations, so do not go by my word 100%. I recommend enhancement shamans vistit the following website for Enh Shaman TheoryCraft, which I found very useful for my own uses:
Best melee DPS trinket in the game and it just refuses to drop for us.
Raids are a bad way to get true PPM. In a raid you may be in combat for 10min straight say on a boss fight. But lets take a'lar. You're melee on adds you're not actually melee'ing for 100% of the whole fight. So if you to use procwatch during a'lar your ppm would be lower than if you used it when farming.
so procwatch is going think you were actually doing melee for the whole fight say 10min. But actually you may have only meleed for 80 to 90% of that fight. So your ppm will be lower. My ppm on dragonspine is always lower in such raid fights. But when I go out farming its around 1.9ppm
This is apparently getting a nerf in 2.2 due to the stealth nerf of melee haste rating from 10.5 haste rating per 1% to 15.7 haste rating per 1%. This trinket will give 20.70% haste as compared to 30.95% haste before.
This trinket received two nerfs with patch 2.2.0:
_ the melee haste rating as stated above: when it procs, you recevied only 20% haste insted of 30% before.
_ an silent "uptime" nerf: before 2.2.0, the trinket uptime was near of 40% (I've tested it on Servant of Razelikh), when I tested it on 2.2.0, my uptime is now less than 25% (with 2500 attacks). Other people have also tested it ( with UptimeMeter at
) and found an uptime near of 20%.
The power of this trinket was to high for the iLevel...
If these things stacked,......
Shaman Heroic 40% speed, haste potion, master hammersmith hammers ( 212 chance haste), this, warrios flurry, leatherworker drums
So 65% speed from spells
Haste rating - 1017
Hammers are 2.40 so thats a fast hammer..
As a BM hunter, I just got this trinket and it's great. Now it's true, BM hunters have to really watch haste as we can actually have too much of it and start crushing our auto-shot. However, as it currently stands, the best weapon in the game for a BM hunter w/o DST is the Wolfslayer (
) with its 2.7 weapon speed. Weapon speed is of far greater importance to BM than is weapon damage, a concept far too many hunters do not understand. There are no ranged weapons in T5/T6 that are better for a BM 1:1 shot rotation simply because none of the other weapons are faster than 2.9.
But with Dragonspine in hand, that changes. Now all of the later ranged weapons will open up for BM as this provides enough haste to make up for the slower bows and you can take advantage of their higher damage. Perhaps you can also make some of this up with the haste gear in ZA and T6 as well, but it will take several pieces of gear to do it. DST alone gives the haste needed to make 2.9-3.0 speed bows worth grabbing as BM. The proc rate alone makes it the best hunter trinket in the game w/o any other consideration. But the fact that it gives you far more choice in weapons down the line of progression makes it really invaluable.
This trinket doesn't have a % on melee attacks, it is estimated at a 1 ppm.
This means it's equally good for slow Duel Wielders like Enhancement shaman, and even for 2hand users! Because of the way PPM's work.
I was dueling a geared up rogue the other day, and this proc'd, what is seemed, 7 out of 10 times. It looked like someone was spamming flash heals on him but with a different special effect.
I dueled him on either 12/10/07 or 12/11/07, don't remember exactly.
This trinket should say "Classes: Rogue" but it's a design flaw.
Still the best feral druid kitty pew pew trinket out there.
Ok, here is why this is good for druid DPS. Yes, druids do not get most of their DPS from white attacks, we get them from our special attacks. However, any druid that is on gruuls has access to the reason we want this: the two piece tier four set bonus. This bonus means that all attacks have a chance to give you back energy. Haste then means more energy as you will swing faster and get more procs as bloodlust (the proc) does not appear to have a CD as I have gotten procs within seconds of each other.
incredible shaman trinket, 75% of shaman damage comes from white damage, yellow attacks such as windfury and stormstrike have 3-10 second cool downs
Saying 75% of shaman DPS comes from white damage is a pretty big exaggeration. In T5 and equivalent gear, I get about 50% from white damage, 30% from Windfury, 10% from Stormstrike and 10% from shocks. EJ has a similar breakdown for properly geared Shaman.
So while the gains from DST probably aren't as dramatic as you make them out to be, they're still very good.
This is one of the best-in-slot trinkets for BM hunters right now, since both our white damage and our yellow damage (Steady Shot) are affected by haste, thus making 20% faster attack speed 20% more damage.
Pretty fantastic. I know that if I can finally get this to drop for me, I'll be dropping all my points on it.
Our guild has been downing Gruul almost weekly for the past 4 months and this lovely trinket finally dropped for the first time last night. Perfect trinket for a PvE rogue such as myself and I must say the amount of procs I get from this thing is just phenomenal. Who has two thumbs and is a happy rogue? This guy.
After doing some testing it seems the internal cooldown has deffinatly been changed to 45 seconds. With it only being a 10 second proc I would almost lean twords the Shard of contempt as a better combat rogue trinket. After getting the 3 offpieces in sunwell (boots, belt, bracers) you would be over the exp cap which might make the DST viable again.
is there a caster equivalent of this? (epic quality)
disregarding the famous rare version
Is it legit for me to be QQing over the fact that a ret pally in our guild run won this over rogues, hunters, and fury warriors, or is this also a very good trinket for them too?
I got this trinket about months ago and I am very happy with it, this is the second time drop so far and the first DST drop from our guild run I passed it to our rogue.
The problem is that I am now using badge crossbow
which is 2.8s speed and with BM talent and quiver's speed increase now my actual weapon speed is 1.97s, also i am using the new 3:2 shot rotation macro but when the DST proces i notice the weapon speed increases to 1.6xs, I wonder do I need to use 1:1 shot rotation for higher DPS output when the DST proc happens?
best for combat sword rogues (because of combat potency and its energy reg). procs pretty often, is definitely worth wearing all the time. the dps boost is insane for only one item!
I was wondering if this item works with druid in cat/bear form or only works with weapons?
whats the internal cool down for this?
Got this last night. Proc rate is pretty high. Stacks with Kiss of the Spider, Rapid Fire, Quickshots and haste pots. <3 it.
Drops from Gruul, the second boss in gruul's lair
+Haste items are great, stacking this with blade flurry and S&D is awesome, get a 2 piece assassination proc of kidney/cheap shot and that is some high attack speed!
is this item good for hunters?
most ppl will say it screws your rotation on auto/steadyshot but endgame raiders / SK gaming hunters do use it. so if you just got out of kara is this or is this not good for a hunter?
Is there any way to accurately test the proc rate of this item? I know I can use the recap addon for direct damage procs but things like this never show up
I've got the Blackout Truncheon (which has the same proc but less Haste Rating) and I have the same problem with that (I'd just like to know the procrate)
I'm going for the Blacksmith maces too with their haste ratings and if I can get 2 peices of the Assasination Armor I'd have Haste with every cheap shot and kidney shot
Drops from Gruul the Dragonkiller in gruuls lair - suited equally for rogues/dps warriors / hunters/ enhancement shamans and if it works in feral forms then druids too -
Dragonspine proc "Haste" + Blade Flurry + Slice and Dice, while wielding
(1.80 speed) and
Got this yesterday and tried it out, it does procc very much, the experience up to now has been suprisingly good and this extra haste on top of SnD and maybe if it procs when bladefury/arush goes popped its really amazing for upping your dps in PvE.
Had it procc 2-3 times within 30 seconds.
just got this off Gruul tonight....we went to kara to finish it up after, and the trinket effect was up for an entire portal phase on netherspite. This thing is hax.
+40 AP, chance on hit of +30.91% haste for 10 sec (no hidden cooldown).
Reports specifically from Druids range from 2.0-2.5 procs per minute for this trinket. The effective ppm appears to vary with different class mechanics, so it's only Druid reports we care about. If a more precise answer emerges I'll revisit this comment. Let's go with 2.25 ppm, or 1 every 26.7 seconds.
You can't assume that it will be active for 10+10+2.5 secs per minute on average because when it re-procs while active, some of the time from the prior proc is wasted.
A re-proc wastes on average 1/2 of the existing proc. The chances of a 1/26.7 per second event occuring over 10 seconds is 10/26.7, or 37.5%.
So the duration of a real proc is actually 10 - .375 * 5 = 8.125 seconds, on average.
8.125 * 2.25 = 18.28 seconds active per minute.
Overall haste = 30.91% * ( 18.28/60 ) = 9.42%.
Haste boosts Druid white damage and clearcasting procs. White attacks account for ~40% of catform damage, and clearcasting yellow attacks another ~8%. .48 * 9.42% = a scaling 4.52% damage increase.
There's also +40 AP on equip. At a gear level of 2500 AP that'd be another 1.6% damage increase, for a total boost of
How about the fact that rogues and fury warriors (if there are many truly left at endgame, haven't seen many lately) can dual wield mongoose, which stacks twice, while hunters and druids can't.
Rogues white damage is huge. Most combat rogues damage is actually white damage which is why we keep slice and dice up constantly and other finishing moves are a luxury if there's still enough time left on slice and dice.
Currently I stack Dragonmaw proc (212 haste) slice and dice, blade flurry, and dual mongooses.
I got this trinket on my hunter on Dunemaul last week and got to use it for the first time in kharazan last night and I couldn't even keep count of the number of times I saw the "Haste" proc pop up over my head.
Note: whenever I weaved shots inbetween my autoshot and made habit of using Rapidfire & Abascus of Violent Odds, there was significanty more Dragonspine Trophy procs then there is when only autoshotting.
Hope this helps any hunters that are lucky enough to get this Trinket make the best use out of them as possible.
Probably the only drop worth getting for melee from Gruul, though that 2H axe is nice too.
Yeah, I don't think there's a debate who should get this. Anyone who uses weapons for dps. Rogues, Warriors, Enhancement shamans, feral druids, hunters, tank/ret pallies. Any of this are fair game, and the argument "but this class has more dps potential" isn't valid. I would shy away from letting pallies/shammies/druids who mostly heal in raids roll on it though.
I think POSSIBLY in some elaborate and crazy scheme on Blizzard's part, they created a trinket that should go to any and all melee classes, so that MAYBE those melee classes will come back to said instance to claim this trinket, thus increasing the time in WoW and also increasing Blizzard's control over the world. Just speculation of course though. =P
This trinket will shoot a Hunter's DPS through the roof. Check Cheeky's Hunter DPS Calculator spreadsheet to see what I mean.
Trinket nerf! :(
proc per minute reduced by 50% (4.1>5 vs 2>2.7 tested live vs PTR)
haste reduced by 30% (15.6)
There is some dispute of how true to PPM nerf is - if there is no nerf, it still blows the !@#$ off madness and tsunami. if the ppm is true its taken quite a hit, but is still better than madness and likely similar to tsunami.
The scaling of haste is insane, although the BT loot is seriously hit (and logically the dst is too.. but hear me out) due to the points assignment (i.e x haste = y damage, they need hit and AP adding to them to put them back at tier 6) DST is so OP at the moment that it is simply relegated to match the ssc/tk pair.
nerfed but still the best for a long time
As a BM hunter... Quite simple, dont be too fast with your BW. Wait until this trinket procs, then turn BW on. Also you can use Rapid Fire, but only if your weapon is slow enough and you are sure that your rotation won't get spoiled.
This just dropped off of Gruul and I lost the roll to one of the warrior tanks. I am extremely pissed.
i had a tank win a heartless over me.
Whats the proc chanse on this trinket?
From what I have read and gleaned from various sources Steady Shot is affected by all haste/speed effects.
This means it does get improved by BM Serpent Swiftness AND our quiver speed improvement. On top of that it IS also improved by Haste, such as from this trinket.
However you then have to incorporate a 0.5sec gcd into that plus any latency.
Even then it is unlikely you will ever have a faster autoshot than steady shot.
and honestly i think your making that complety up by saying they gave it to protection warriors over you because noone can be that idiotic
I just got this trinket on my Enhance Shaman. Even after the Nerfs i would have to say for a slow/slow duel wielding class this trinket is still leet. The 40 ap could be better but i am seeing roughly 2 procs per minute using WF on average. Sometimes better somtimes worse. Ive noticed that it does in fact seem to proc more with windfury up. Oh and you hunters need to stop telling eachother to loot and bid on every item that looks pretty =P. Bout a week ago a hunter in my guild took dagger off solarian when 2 other rogs in raid could have had it. I think he figured the chance on hit +270atk power would work for his ranged....silly hunter, Daggers are for Rogues.
Jesus christ, stop blaming hunters already ._.
The Drop Chance: 13.69%, is a joke our guild has done it 28 times between 2 raids and I have done it an extra 3 times w/ alts and out of the total 33 times have seen it 1 time. But have a guild on this server has gotten 8 so I don't know what they are doing differently to have such drastically different chances. But either way we are getting fed
