I think it's an underrated dagger like a nerfed vision of Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. (20% down to 10%)
For rogue, it's still a nice looking dagger :)
With a max of 180 damage, this is the best stabber discovered so far (excepting the Gladiator's Shanker). Unfortunately it appears to require the completion of the 25man CoT raid, the Battle of Hyjal, so it may be harder to get than a Karazahn drop.
Finally we see a item with a unique and interesting proc effect... lets hope Blizzard keeps this up.
It is still in the game, and easily obtainable with running Durnholde / Black Morass over and over and over.
This dagger can be acquired from aprox. 1 run of Durnholde and 11 runs of Black Morass (I believe in heroic when you reach revered.)
Its a good grind imo, Black Morass has some really good drops.
A GOOD group can do BM run in 35 mins quite easily. each fetching about 1k rep. So this dagger is actually quite easy to get.
Just purchased this dagger and tryed it today in a raid to karazhan. Proced nicely whenever target did not had thunderclap, worked on bosses. Easy to notice, target starts glowing pink :)
got it yesterday, the proc rate seems very low though. It procced twice in a full black morass run.
Well first of all its a great dagger, even tho u dont need to go high level instance to get it. Took me about 2 days to get, and the proc is really good for party or raid. U make decent BS crits with it. And for the record karazhan daggers aint much better than this! Save this and get a karazhan dagger and respec to mutilate if ur BS specced before imo. GL
I have done some calculations for damage on this and the one who dropped in Kharazan for the Backstab hit (using some formulas I found on the web). Ofcourse, the one found in Kharaza is better, but the difference is not so big comparing to the effort and time you have to spend to get it. I'll go for this one.
Well if it doesn't stack with thunderclap, it won't rock like i thought it would. With thunderclap being able in def stance next patch, a good tank will keep that up non stop.
Its not only the proc that makes this dagger good.
Im not a dagger rogue, never realy liked dagger for pve. So i prolly wont farm rep for this one... I will however farm black morass untill i get:
According to wow wiki, Black Morass and Old Hillsbrad normal can take you all the way to exalted. Just did Old Hillsbrad and got about 1000 rep, so if you're at the bottom of exalted, that's about 21 runs. I don't know if that makes it harder or easier to get than a karazhan dagger, but my guild hasn't taken Moroes yet, so I'd say this is still easier, but quite time consuming.
I became exalted with the Keepers through helping a lot of people with their Karazhan attunements today. I bought this dagger just for the hell of it (I'm a warlock so it's pretty crap for me) and tested the proc rate. I'd say it procs in average every 30-40 stabs.
I find this dagger as a good offhander due to the stats + the 15 agi enchant. Use Vindicators Brand in mainhand and have a combat build.
This combo gives a steady DPS and by keeping SnD up at all time; I really give my contribution in raids. Warpsplinters Thorn is also brilliant, but I find that one having to low base damage.
Actually got this in my struggle to get the Latro-sword; but that one never dropped......
This has been rumored to stack with the Thunderfury debuff. It has been confirmed to NOT stack with imp TC. As a TF wielder myself I'm thinking of picking this up to test just that.
I'm 6k shy of exalted as of right now...seen 2 latro's, caster trinkets many times, but the reason for my grind, the hourglass of the unraveller, still has yet to drop.
Getting a buff in 2.1
chance on hit: timerift thingy
+22 Attack power
I'm grinding out KoT rep to get this for a mutilate build. It has a fairly high low-end and top-end, and it's easier to get than the Karazhan drops (or better). I'm pairing it with an arena season 2 gladiator's dagger.
Grinded the 0-21000 part in 2 days 1 run takes around 30mins with good group, so easy to get. Totally worth the grinding if you got leatherworking also becouse you will need to get "drums of panic" for 370-375 Lw skill. So basicly for lw rogue you get 4 items even 5 if you want to take the trinket for pvp.
Only costs 185gold with rep discount.
For being a level 70 epic item, it isn't a huge upgrade over Kingsfall (that is, if this dagger is real - which it seems to be).
If it can proc on bosses and stack with other attack speed reducing effects it will be really good for raiding.

It doesn't specify melee, so would this work with a ranged weapon as well?
Been testing the proc. Doesn't proc terribly often but is still reliable to proc 2-3 times a boss fight and at least once every couple of pulls (Yes, it can proc on bosses - or at least the one's in Karazhan I have fought). When solo'ing 69-70 non-elites tends to proc every 2-4 mobs. The graphic look like a pink and purple banish and makes the banishing sound when applied. The debuff icon, called "Temporal Rift", is a yellow stopwatch with a red border around the icon.

Since it's 3-4 proc per fight it's like 40 seconds of helpful slowdown on the attacks + it stacks with thunderclaps so it should help a bit.
I am gonna grind rep this weekend for it to see for myself. I hope it's good.
Does anyone know if this debuff stacks with Thunderclap/Thunderfury proc? If so this weapon would be useful in raids for a while.
It's not hard to get the rep for this dagger, i got to exhalted in maybe a week, could be alot faster if you had a group happy to farm the instance.
Oh, and the proc DOES work on bosses, well it worked on every boss in Karazhan so far and that IMO makes this dagger very worthwhile getting.
The proc itself is amazing, it has a decent proc rate, as well as looking amazing and working on bosses (all the Kharazan ones to my experience). However the proc has one downfall - It does NOT stack with thunderclap, and since the changes made to thunderclap, this is a major downfall. However, It might stack with Thunderfury, but that's been nerfed countless times.
it does stack with thunderfury proc.
our MT is using a TF and in karazhan raids we had both procs up on nightbane. but as stated above, it does not stack with thunderclap, if TC is already on the mob and this thing procs it says "Immune (Temporal Rift)" in SCT.
anyway, quite decent procrate. like 50% of TF procs, not bad for the effort thats involved in getting this, im definitely keeping it for quite some time. yet undecided if i will switch to malchazeen once its dropping for us.
anyway, id take this over emerald ripper any time.
if you have a decent group farming cot1/2 instances, then go for this, its well worth it.
Is this a god dual?
Riftmaker - MH (nice dmg)
Searing Sunblade - OH (decnt dps)
ive had this dagger for a couple months now.... starting to get annoyed with the low proc rate... or maybe blizz hates me... used it as backstab spec and now im mutilate... Riftmaker in MH and Dirge in OH.... i'm about rdy to toss Riftmaker out but it got buffed in the patch so i'll keep it awhile longer.... overall its ok to get but its annoying as hell to grind the rep.... wiping in Black Morass helped tho :-P
Anyone know if +15 AGI enchant or any other enchant will overwrite the origial purple glow of Riftmaker?
Well this is one of the best daggers awarded "OUTSIDE KARAZHAN" for mutilate based builts.Add a +15 agility and you are done till Emerald reaper and Malachzeen drops ... atm i am revered with the time keepers and trying to get it in like 3-4 runs but also i am aiming for the gladiators one...
I am currently using the consortium and scryers daggers with mongoose on both, not sure if its worth ditching either one with a 800g enchant on them. I do like the proc but again not sure if i want to spend another 800g for the enchant on another dagger. I wasnt shooting for exalted but im only about 5 runs away and i can get these drums of panic, broken for rouges to have fear! and that other trinket since after 20 runs i dont have my flippin hourglass.....
How long will it take to grind all the rep from friendly to exalted?
If I do heroic Durn or BM does the rep increase?
Can't see why not.
Just got this dagger. It's a nice epic but the 10% increased time between attacks goes totally unnoticed (other than the rift that gets created around your target). I'm thinking 20-25% will make a noticable difference.
The 21 agi and base stats alone makes this a pretty good MH weapon for a dagger rogue no doubt.
Bit ugly IMO, but i could care less, this dagger is just plain awesome until you can get some drops from raids(emerald ripper is better), excellent dps, good proc rate, stats arent bad, looks like i'm going to be farming BM for a while :D
Would this Dagger be good as a MH if i had my Blade of the Unrequited as my OH?
does anyone know if the animation for enchants will show up over the purple glow that is already on it?
i'm thinking of getting mongoose but i kind of want to see the cool glow mongoose give
Just got this bad boy for my Rogue main last night, and it kicks ass (goes great in my main hand with my
in my off hand). This is an amazing dagger for a Mutilate Rogue, such as myself. Great stats, great DPS, the proc goes off every 4 mobs or so, and it looks totally cool. Was definitely worth the 20+ BM runs =]. If you are a Mutilate Rogue, or even combat daggers, get this thing. You will be using it for quite some time.
Here's a picture of the proc:
S'pretty lookin dagger, natural purple glow reminds me of back in the days when the Lifestealing enchant was actually worth having.
I'm not a man for raiding, so considering the ease with which this rep can be farmed, this is likely going to be my off-hand dagger when I get it. It's decent damage, looks pretty, and has a nice enough proc. Great for mutilate.
Once you're exhalted, not only do you get this, but you can get the epic trinket for +27 stam, +24 resilience & reduced threat too. All in all, well worth getting exhalted.
Edit: Got the dagger now, and I'm surprised. The proc rate is actually very good. Visible too, it's not like you can miss it with the big purple cloud it creates around your target.
Proc rate seems to be not too great in normal soloing; however, it was chain-proccing on Curator, arcane constructs, and fleshbeasts in Kara last night quite consistently--really anything that took some time to down it would proc 3-4 times, often before the previous debuff was gone. So nice little raiding dagger I must say, and definitely a nice bit of relief for the tanks and healers.
Its like thunderfury but not as good! Wish someone would post the exact proc rate of the slowing effect
Been working on this baby for awhile now, just got it last night. Added mongoose to it this morning. Im suprised no one has pointed out this dagger's partner blade THE NIGHT BLADE. They both share the exact same damage and speed and have their own unique and awesome proc. I have the night blade in my main hand with executioner. Can't really express how much im lovin' daggers right now. I don't even mutilate!
I am attempting to navigate here on Wowhead and it keeps redirecting me to Wowhead TBC, so whatever. I'm posting this anyway.
If you want to buy stuff like this for the xmog even though it's not for your class, then be sure you go to the drop-down menu on the top-right and switch from your class to All. I became exalted with my mage and wanted to get this. I assume the xmog is account wide, but it doesn't matter. I collect all appearances. I've been playing since vanilla, but totally forget things like this sometimes.
It still has to be something you can equip, obviously. This is an agility dagger, but it's still a dagger.
