Nice ring although the ring of the last boss in Alcatraz (none-heroice) isn't that much worse. It's epic yes, and the armor is really good for druids but warriors profit less of it.

As of 2.0.10's changes, Feral Druids in bear form now get the following:

1000 armour
1100 with 3/3 Thick Hide

33.75 stamina
40.50 stamina with 5/5 Heart of the Wild

This is arguably the second best Druid tanking ring in the game.

Granted, some could argue that rings with dodge and/or +hit are better, but it's all down to individual choice.

IMO this ring is perfect for a druid. I will get this soon and combined with Karazhan exalted ring, I will be getting a very nice amount of armor and stamina from 2 rings.

Sure, dodging is a very important aspect of druid tanking but I rather get dodge via agility instead of pure dodge rating. Because druid tanks are different from warriors. We do not only soak damage; we can also deal some serious amounts of damage and agility boosts our crit chance. Crit means more and faster threat and more rage that can be used to create even more threat. More threat means more DPS for whole raid.

As of the 5/03/07 PTR push, this ring has been upgraded to 294 AC, 31 stamina, and 22 defense rating (a gain of 94 armor, 4 stamina, 1 defense rating).

It's about as good for druids as the Shermanar Great-Ring, which drops from Shade of Aran in Karazhan (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28675). This one has more armor and less stamina. The defense rating is about the same.

IMO this one is slightly better for druids--I'll take 71 armor over 5 stamina any day. And it has the advantage of being definitively attainable. You could kill Shade of Aran 30 times and never see the Great-Ring drop, but this can be saved up for so long as you can get a few competent heroic groups going.

Still... if the Great-Ring dropped for me before I'd saved up for this, I'd roll on it and use my badges of justice for something else. The differences are a real drop in the bucket to a bear tank.

Can't say how good it is for warrior and paladin tanks since I don't play those.

This would be good for paladin tanks because of the large amount of +stam, yes. Outside of raids the only other tank ring I can think of with that much stamina on it is the Wind Trader's Band, which is green and only has 12 defense rating.

And I honestly don't see what the point is of arguing about who gets this ring. It's a HEROIC REWARD, not a drop you need to compete over.

I disagree on the people who said this isnt good for a warrior.
I'm a prot warr myself, and just got this, and dependin on ur gear this is a pretty good choice.
Considering u gotta have 490 def, this will help u a lot to get there if u dont have it yet.
I got this and the Violet Signet, a wonderful combination IMO.

Actually after the buff to epix in the 2.whatever patch this has 124 more base armor than the blue CoT ring. x5.5, that's 682 more armor in bear form. That is obviously a very big upgrade.

what you guys dont realize is that not only does the ring have to drop, but you also have to win the roll. badges always drop. i'm exalted with KoT and ive seen that ring drop twice. one time it went to a holy pally, the other time it went to a 66 fury warrior that had never been there before.

also, whats to say you have to choose between the CoT ring and this one? i dont know about you, but should i ever find myself with both in my possession, i'll be wearing them. +defense on rings, trinkets, and your weapon = more good stat items (barkchip boots, tree-mender's belt, etc.) you can replace stuff like heavy clefthide with.

well worth the badges in my opinion.

Now it's 124 armor extra which brings the extra armor to 620

124x5=620 (if you think this is wrong you should consider getting a new brain)

and with thick hide: 124/10=12,4 12x5=60

so that brings it up to 680 more armor.

Armor 294*1.1(Thick Hide)=323.4*5(Dire Bear Form)=1617
