If you are a caster, you would most likely start with buying "Icon of the silver crescent" (
), it is currently the best caster trinket in-game, it's way better than vengeance of the illdari, 41 badges you could easily have within 4-5 days. I'd go for the back after that (
), which you will keep until you start farming Gruuls Lair, then the off-hand, and then all the FR gear..
It's a lot of badges, but you will be lucky with BoE epics as they are oftenly seen in heroic instances
I think what wasn't mentioned here is that once you kill a boss in a heroic instance you are saved to it. The reset for heroic instances is 7 hours. In my opinion if you are not well geared or would like a taste of what heroic try hellfire ramparts first. its one of the easiest instances but if you dont have any sort of fr gear especially the tank dont waste ur time attempting nazan.
I usually do heroic Mech, then Underbog, then Ramparts. If you can do all those in 1 day that is 11 badges.
They aren't hard with a good group. i do guild runs and my guild currently has Karazhan on farm as well as Gruul's lair so we are well geared for now.
The gear is quite good. the caster trinket is possible the best in the game. However Shaffar trink of last bost in Arcatraz is arguably better for fire mages. The trink of quig + shaffar trink can be a lethal combo (which is what I currently use). However those have low drop rates off their respective bosses. The quig trinket only drops in heroic tho so if you dont get it, you have to wait till the next day to try again.
The dagger though is horrible for its cost. 50 badges for a dagger which there are plenty in kara that are better.
For a fire mage, there are a few good choices here. the offhand is amazing, good ring, neck and cloak. most casters will choose the trinket first.
However I would like to see a caster weapon since there is a melee weapon too.
With 2.1, you can now buy Primal Nethers for the price of 12 badges - 1 nether.
You can also buy helms for 60 badges.
*Unconfirmed Note from Patch notes 2.3*
These will soon drop in Karazhan and Zul'Aman hencefore making people who don't have time to grind rep with factions able to get some badges on a 1 Night Karazhan run.
After 2.3 badges and pvp will arguably be the way to go for all classes. The gear that will be available through badges and pvp will knock most of the low end Karazhan gear off the table and come close to the high end Karazhan and low end 25 man gear. I'm assuming this change was made as a way to shift the focus away from raiding and to heroics a little more. Raiding will still definately be worth while, but this will give newer players and some veteran's easy access to some very nice gear just from running heroics.
A lot of this gear will rival or beat pvp/arena gear for easily obtainable pve gear.
Taken from WoW Raids and Dungeons forums:
So the theoretical cap is:
16 (Your Backpack)
4 * 20 (4 Primal MC Bags on your char)
24 (Bank Space)
7 * 20 (7 Primal MC Bags in your bank)
(16 + (4 * 20) + 24 + (7 * 20)) * 200 = 52,000
The soft cap on badges is 52,000 if you are willing to destroy every item you have that you arn't wearing.
Theoretically you could have another 5-8 sitting on unlooted corpses that haven't despawned yet in some heroic that belong to you but arn't in your bags, a completed daily heroic quest worth 2 badges, 5 badges in waiting for the etherium quest, as well as 2 badges on zul'jin and have just won blood of zul'jin(worth 10), and its sitting on the corpse waiting for you to find bag space.
So the hard cap including badges and badge equivalents =~
52000 + 8 + 2 + 5 + 2 + 10 = 52027 badges.
The main issue with this cap is that you couldn't spend the badges because there's no place to put the item you'd be buying.
It shows the number 200 on the item shown on this page...but does that mean they stack to 200 or is this rumor that the cap is 200 true? I'm tryin to save ~300 badges for 2.3 stuff...hoping it's possible..
As of 2.3, the reputation requirement is honoured, instead of revered. Also, there is no actual level beyond (I assume) the standard entrance requirement for a level 70 instance. Yesterday, we twinked a level 62 through the last boss of heroic Slave Pens so he could pick up a nether for the engineering helm.
Ordinarily, though, a reasonably well-geared 70 will be required if they're expected to carry their own weight.
Some very nice items for my warrior, which has made quite a difference with the few I've purchased, over the blues previously in use. The rest are on quite a substantial shopping list to augment KZ drops.
I sadly can't say the same for my main (Hunter) as this handy link shows with the mail
Only the top 4 are of any real use, half that of the Shamen items. Even taking the trinkets, and some of the leather gear into consideration it does seem a tad stingy in comparison to the other classes.
It would be nice if there is a few additions in future patches.
dropped by elite bossses in heroic mode instances used to buy epic items from shattrath city
why this badges are missing in original link in this npc's?
example it says npc's in mana tomb are droping it but when u go to npc there is no badge in loot
mixtup in database?
ok i see a mistake now
all badges from heroic drops are missing "where badge is droped in heroic mode its not there" normal drops has it
There are new badges rewards in 2.4, Some haste cloaks(healing and spell), and a spell haste trinket (like the other battlemaster rewards, only with spell haste and max hp buff for 15s.
The haste cloaks are called:
Cloak of Switf reprieve
+51 heal / +17 dmg
Cloak of arcane alacrity
(all the same, but 27 sp. dmg instead of 51 heal)
When 2.4 patch comes live you can use your Badge of Justice to buy yourself Nether vortex's. Currently on ptr their cost is 15 Badge of Justice and 6 gold. At the same time both Primal nethers and Nether vortexes will be boe items!
Edit: Currently Nether vortex's costs 15 badges, 6 gold payment was lifted.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there will also be a new pvp cloak in 2.4 like dory's embrace improvement. And if so what's the name or a link to website?
There's a whole new badge loot, including Tier 6 armor and weapons equivalent for 100-150badges.
All this items can be viewed in:
In patch 2.4 (Sunwell) all bosses will drop Badges of Justice.
"Badges of Justice have been added to all raid bosses who did not previously have them!"
2 from each boss
As of patch 2.4, These badges have a chance of appearing in Shattered Sun Supply bags, rewarded from Shattered Sun Offensive quests obviously
Got one from a daily quest called Blast the Gateway at Throne of Kil'Jaeden.
The quest rewards you with a Shattered Sun Supplies where I got the badge from.
I recieved a Badge of Justice out of a 'Shattered Sun Supplies' bag today (quest reward grab bag, so to speak), for the daily quest's that came out yesterday. My friend has had this happen twice today as well. So there's another way to get them as a random drop anyway.
the new daily quests, rewards a bag wich sometimes has a badge in it had it 2 out of 4 bags now
Badge of Justice can also be obtained from Shattered Sun Supplies (
) which you get from completing several of the new Shattered Sun Offensive dailies.
I just got this from TURNING IN daily quest in Nagrand!(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##
in 2.4 you can now buy epic gems with badge of justice. they cost 10 badge of justice each, which has been changed from 15 on ptr
After the patch Badge of Justice will drop from all lvl 70 raid bosses 2 from each boss except the last boss in a raid who drops 3, and remember that Midnight the first boss in Karazhan just drops 1. Happy Farming!
I got it from a pack of Shattered Sun Supplies for turning in the Multiphase Survey daily
These are also obtainable in Shattered Sun Supplies.
Advice to new players: save your badges for a really big upgrade even if it takes a long time. Nothing more frustrating than spending 25 badges on something that will be replaced next week.
Badge of Justice is dropped by almost every raid boss and every boss in heroics!
They also can inside those bags that dailys give u and u get 23 badge of justice from a full clear of kara! Thats why almost every guild goes every week...Easy badges!
When ever i get badges i tend to spend them right away...HUGE mistake because there is some leet gear out there so stock up on badges so u can get some gear and in the end you will be very happy.
Drops in Several Heroics and raids, 1-3 drops from each boss.
you can also get them from the Heroic Dayli Quest taken from Wind Trader Zhareem (
Quest rewards: 24G 60S
x2 Badges of Justice (BoJ)
350 rep with The Consornitum (
and 350 rep with the faction the Instance "Belongs to" (350 rep with Lower City if you did Auchenai Crypts:
You can also be lucky to get them in Shattered Sun Supplies (
) Which you get from the SSO Outland Daylis
you can get Rewards from:
G'eras in Shattrath city, He sells the "old" badge rewards. The Rewards from G'eras are much like like Tier 5 Items.
You can also get them from Anwehu, at the Isle of Quel'Danas Portal in Shattrath city, The Rewards he sells are much like Tier 6 Items.
Smith Hauthaa Also Sells the tier 6 like items, She is just placed in Isle of Quel'Danas.
Of course, now that s are the new , Blizz has presented an easy way to obtain these. Given time, even the most unlucky folks (three months without a single drop from any instance I ran, plus more than my fair share of idiots by other peoples' admittance) should be able to obtain Kara-viable gear.
Edit: Fancy item link failure. How does one do this?
You use them to purchase the epics from this guy :
I read through a lot of these comments and have come to a conclusion. People need to stop being so rude. The guy didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to get the nice stuff. You could have said "then this game isn't for you" without all the "Then you suck" or the "Whiney b**ch" stuff. There's no reason to be so rude. Some of you people need to chill out because you're acting like he's so wrong for not wanting to be a hard core gamer. I play about 10 hours a day myself, sometimes more, sometimes less. I personally don't have some of the nice stuff. Not because I don't want it, but because I make my characters fairly rounded. My 70 hunter has mining 375/375 and blacksmithing 375/375 and such. I will usually work on getting one thing maxed out instead of questing and instancing some times. Some of you may think that's silly. I'm sure some could care less. Honestly, I'm here to enjoy MYSELF...not any of you. So before you start personally insulting people, remember that this is JUST A GAME and people play games differently than you. So he's not "whiney" or "sucky"...he's just a person who plays different than you.
You can turn these in for cool stuff at:
Just grind forever in like 10 factions, reputation rewards are just as good if your EX with like 10 different factions to get an item from each if you cant raid...

Anyone have any idea what the best (read: easiest) place to farm them is? A couple of suggestions?
Can you get this from PvP and if so how?
These badges are the easiest/quickest way to get good epic gear. It only requires you to find 4 other equally bored people (or now, 9 if you're running a 10 man raid) to kill some bosses and build up your collection. You can get very good stuff for 25, and better stuff for 50 and up. If you can't have fun playing with 4 other people in team with a collective ambition, you're in the wrong game.
These are the rewards
you can get with them. Enjoy
I just got a Badge of Justice from the shattered sun supplies. Just wanted to check in on the item.
Last boss or well dragon boss that gives you the chest in
ramparts didn´t provide a bagde however a epic plate of
course since we had no warrior or pally with us.
Had it drop last night on final boss
You use them to purchase the epics from this guy :
I play solo. I am a social retard. I join Guilds and get booted within days. I love D and D rpgs, this MMorpg is one of the best rpg games available, I am going to keep not grouping and having a great time anyway, my gear is inferior, but i bet my level of enjoyment is not. I have a lvl 70 hunter and lvl 66 shaman, bite me guildies!
You mean from the Shattered Sun Supplies? I've had 3 drop from those in the last two days.
Does these only drop from heroics, or can it drop in normal instances like the primal nether?
Does this drop only in Heroic mode? It shows them dropping in normal? but i haven't seen them yet.
If you guys want to keep %^&*!ing about not finding groups and raids, that is your own fault, i soloed through most of the game, and let me tell you gear does make a difference. if you dont have the time to put in for raids and dungeons, then go play dungeon runner (Dungeonrunner.com or google dungeon runner). it is FREE to DOWNLOAD and PLAY. it is an mmorgp and it is stupified for you retards out there who can't handle wow. if you want to keep playing wow, why dont you actually TRY getting with a guild who does raids and events, gee there is a shocker. Majority of the people who are in the guild i am with, have wifes, kids , jobs and they still find the time. SO QUITE YOUR WHINNING!
i love the symbol i got it tattoed on the side of my left ball. on my right i got chester cheetah. cause i love cheetoes and world of warcraft. thego together my keyboard is totally orange and there are ants every where but who cares
You also get two badges as a reward for the quest in heroic Mana Tombs from the consortium, and now in 2.3 from the dungeon dailies as well.
Has anybody had a badge drop from a Shattered Sun daily recently? I haven't seen one in a month or so, nor have any friends. Wonder if they nurfed it.....
These are are now dropping from the supply bags you get for completing the Shattered Sun dailies.
does this drop in normal run or only in heroic run?
omg i just wanted to know about badges of justice. you guys are crazy! thanks to those who posted about the subject matter. to the rest of you...maybe find an appropriate forum?
I soo love this <3.

go farm heroic mech for these...
I just got one from doing the daily
i was wondering when all these ranting and raving comments were gonna end haha it kinda seemed to me that everybody was saying the same thing over again and again "Play right or dont play at all" or "be nice to others" lol but anyways :P i might have started the whole topic again so i if i did then shame on me haha
so yeah i wish these dropped in doubles on last bosses, that would make it a lil bit easier, just doin heroics for the really good stuff for about 100 badges is kind of hard. i know its supposed to take time to get gear and all that jazz, but for me anyway, on my server it seems to be kind of hard to find a group for the heroics i want to do.
but they will drop in any heroic instance?
We all pay our dues to play the game who has the right to tell anyone to quit playing unless your paying for their acount I enjoy soloing AND raid dungeons so am i satan when i am feeling anti social no i am enjoying the game that I pay for the way i want to so FU to all the people who don't like the way i play.
Easy to see where they are used, but where do you get them from?
What if you like to play alone, or don't want to run hard instances all the time or don't want to fukin PVP constantly? Well basically you're SCREWED because Blizzard is so goddam obsessive about wanting money from FIVE people at once that the best #$%^ in the game is only available if you sell your fukin soul to playing the above ways.
One of the reason I left WOW before was that is is very hard, with a family and being on the west coast, to get into and grind 20- and 40-man raids enough to get anywhere. Now...there are 5-man instances I can grind and get epic gear?
Excellent! This is a great move for the more casual gamer...

I have a 65 Pally that totally owns out in the world with nothing but quest rewards. I do nothing but solo. Cry me a river. If you can't do it, it's because your level of ability is insufficient. In other words you suck.
Sorry but that's the truth. I hate instances, I never raid, and I don't play enough to ever earn any decent PvP rewards. AND I NEVER !@#$% ABOUT IT.
bah, all of u shut the hell up.
EVERY post in here should be deleted (even mine) excluding posts about the above item.
Fact is, This game does make you waste to much personal time. Hardcore WOWers, are
VERY VERY VERY likely to be annoying nerds. Thats probly why the guy doesn't want to play with you guys, because NORMAL ppl can't stand you.
I have played this game for 10 months, I enjoy it, but have met only one decent human being on the alliance side so far.
Enough wow, crawl out of your holes, and get some sunlight, you ppl are starting lose your grip on reality.

These tokens drop off bosses in Heroic mode instances.
bosses drops 1badge for everyone, so if in dungeon are 3bosses its 100% u will get 3badges
yes all 5 man instances in Outlands, BUT only in Heroic mode (lvl 70 and key to heroic)
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING BADGES!
Heroic Mechanar is definetly the easiest one to get badges in, and also seems to be one of the most common heroics PUGs do...With a good group it takes a bit more than an hour, with a bad one it can take more than 2... Anyways imo spam heroic mech once a day ^^
Patch 2.3 will be introducing a ton more gear to purchase with badges, and it's GOOD gear too, the downside is it's expensive, so start farming now.
Bracers = 35 Badges
Everything else is between 60-75 badges
Prot paladins and moonkin druids rejoice, theyre adding a lot of itemization for the 2.
Basically each instance resets at 2am ST (i think).. so if you run Heroic slave pens all the bosses will stay dead until 2am ST then they will respawn. So yes the bosses in the other instances are still alive to go and kill and get badges.
Badges will be much easier to get in the new patch (no 3 badge mech run any more though) with daily quests (supposedly) giving badges and Kara bosses (supposedly) dropping multiple badges. No mention of these things are in the patch notes as yet though.
Confirmed. I just received a badge also from one of the new dailys and came to this page as I didn't know what it was. =) Thanks for the great info!
The badge of justice system has to be the single best thing blizzard ever did to the world of warcraft. No, badge of justice gear is not the same as welfare epics. Allow me to explain.
See, in an ordinary group without badges, there is a chance that you will see the piece of gear that you need drop (lets call it a 25% chance for the sake of it). The fact is, though, that probability states that no matter how good the chance is, if the chance isn't 100% then there is a possibility you will never ever see that gear drop.
Here is where badges come in. No matter how many times you run the instance waiting for your gear piece to drop, you get badges of justice that are spendable on rewards that you can use. This mechanic effectively eliminates the need to grind for gear -- "I've ran such-and-such 70 times and have never seen it drop!" You hear less and less of that these days. If a piece of gear never drops and you have sufficient badges of justice, you can just go and buy something that would replace it.
Blizzard should expand on this DKP system they implemented in the next expansion. They should add vendors at the ends of instances, set items spread across various badge vendors, and so on.
And for the last time: badge of justice gear is not "welfare epics!" I don't know who coined this term, but it drives me insane. Badge gear is made for and obtained through PvE and instancing, and you can't get any piece of badge gear by yourself. You can keep calling PvP battleground gear welfare if you want, since you can effectively obtain it on your own and in your own time, but keep those words away from badge gear. It just doesn't apply.
For all those that think epics should be difficult to obtain: I feel for you, really. It used to be hard to get a purple piece of gear. It used to take days/weeks of farming, grinding, and spending tons of gold/repair money. It doesn't anymore, and you have to deal with it. There are various levels of epic gear; the epics from the vendor in shattarath are of lower quality than the epics you obtain from the Black Temple, for example. If you want to keep on spending days/weeks grinding raids for some epic loot, then that is your choice and you certainly have that option. My choice (and the choice of thousands of other more casual WoW players out there) is just to stick with heroics and the badge system.
Badges of justice are probably one of the best ways to prevent gold sellers. At the same time it's an awesome way for newbies to get their gear going.
Additionally, now that Nether Vortexes have become available for 15 badges, you can raise some true money.
Imagine running Karazhan in about 3 hours (with a decent group).
It is a matter of 24 badges, thereby nearly 2 nether vortexes.
At Xavius (a medium populated English server), one vortex sells for 350 gold. 2 x 350 = 700 gold. Hence this, you could theoretically earn about 600 gold from a Karazhan run.
600 / 3 hours = 200 gold an hour.
I consider that some easy coins, at least if you run Karazhan once a week for badges only.
However, there are better ways to spend your badges! Go get yourself some decent badge-gear, and apply to a TK/SSC guild. They shouldn't decline your application, and you're one step closer to mutilate that son of a &*!@# mr. Stormrage :)
