This is very good for a balance druid, i suggest you make it if leather is your thing and you are a Tribal LW. 333 armor translates into 1665 and screw the gem bonus chuck some + dmg gems in it :D, 3x9 + 28 + 6 (int bonus) = 61 dmg, or if you feel so inclined 2 damage + crit gems so you get 53+dmg and 24 crit rating, I personally am going for the whole set.
Its the socket that make it good for me, of course this is all personal preference.
this is quite long to craft, but i'm happy with it.
socketed & enchanted for healing purpose it gives me +81 healing, +12m/5s, some +crit.
Not bad when compared with the -actual- Malorne healing chest which only brings +95 healing / +12m/5s, no +crit
This one is actually better than the Malorne (t4) chestguard for healing. There's more stats on it than Malorne, the same sockets, and spellcrit and spelldamage to top. Craft these if you can, since it'll save you the amount of DKP used on getting the chest :)
EDIT: In fact, this one is a better healing chest than any pre-Serpentshire Cavern healing chest, matched only the gladiator chest. Since the socket bonus is (this is written around 2.1.0) not useful anyways, you can throw in any type of socket you like,. as well.
With the latest version of patch 2.1 on the PTR, the socket bonus has been changed to +5 Spell Damage.
Where do you get the patteren from.??
Is it a drop or vendor / trainer..??
i just cant find any info about it..
Cos im thinking of taking LW up again..
I'm super excited for this
been working my ass of in LW to get it.
ugly, but really freaking nice.
74+healing all together.
I notice that this set uses the chest, belt, and bracers - so you could still get the four-piece set bonus from other sets (by getting gloves, head, pants, and shoulders). Whereas the tailoring sets require the chest and either shoulders or gloves. Interesting.
With the change to +healing in 2.3, this set gets quite alot more spelldamage. And as they've decreased the rep cost for the Drums of Panic (cheapest way to level from 370 to 375) from Extalted to Honored, getting this is finally a viable alternative :)
does this chest peice have Both the + healing and the +damage??!! or am i missing something
Caryssia Moonhunter (alliance)
This is the best chest I can find for a beginning raid-set for Resto Druids. It beats out anything I found in Kara (Stonebough, and Mas Gown).
Gemmed properly over Stonebough this should have around 30 more +healing, around the same Intel, and alittle more Spirit (It has no Mp5 on it, but you'll be wearing the set anyway starting out raiding, which is worth 8mp5)
Where can you learn to make this? I heard a rumor that it was a tribal leatherworking pattern taught by the trainer? Can anyone prove/disprove that?
Edited, Feb 24th 2007 10:03pm by Dnil
Yeah, Tribal LW, made it last week for my druid. Lots of mats, something like 6 primal mights, 3 primal nethers which have about a 6-14% drop rate off of specific bosses, in lv68+ dungeons, last boss only...i have observed. Also a ton of primal airs, which go for a min of 22-26 gold and up to 40g each. 16 air's for the chest, and 20 or 22 for the belt and bracers, so 36 in total, plus windscales which just have to be farmed, serpents in blades edge east of the main revine.
What is it with the agility socket bonus?
Can anyone tell me where I can learn to make the set?
so i have druid and wanted it to be resto. so i trained LW to make nice healing set. and now i dont know whether i should laugh or cry. this set sux. blizz couldnt decide if they wanna spell dmg or healing set so they made this crap. ill reroll for mooncloth tailoring. primal mooncloth robe has +121 healing, 10mp5 and cheaper mats. gg for making this sucky set :/
so ive seen that its taught from tribal lw trainer
Any idea if the +spell dmg and the +healing stack? i.e. Is the healing bonus for this piece +74 or +42?
As I see it on the model viewer, this item has the same model as Ironfeather Breastplate (level 53 blue item).
It pretty shame for a level 70 epic !
Blizz please change the model! :))
these patterns are not a drop. they are trained from your tribal leatherworker at 375.
Possible silly question: does the pure "Healing" value stack with the "Spell/Healing" value?
IE: Total +Healing on this chest is 63, yes?
Im a moonkin druid, and tbh, while im making these eventualy, i wouldnt use em in moonkin form. but just to make sure people know, with ALL classes, agil = armour increase aswell. so armour helps, as little as the socket bonus would give us. :)
And as for the pure +healing...im sure it would benefit from increases on healing.
ouch, total of 36 primal air...better get farming, and i think but im not sure, that the primal might is transmuted once per day...got a primal neather off of the last boss in halls in auchioun
Don't forget that you don't have to socket it out to get the bonus. At first I was thinking they were giving feral's an option to socket it for hybrid gear but thats just dumb.
Some people have suggested that this was a placeholder that never got fixed.
Long and short of it is Get 3+ Dmg or Spell Crit gems and be happy w/ it even if you don't get the bonus.
I'm feral but will prob use the belt and bracer in my hybrid setup and swap the chest in for healing.
Really nice to see some balance/restoration hybrid gear, after all those feral/restoration sets (highly disappointed with moonglade). Would suit me perfectly, real shame that I'm alchemist.
As for the sockets, I can only see the armour bonus, however little... And as Surinam mentioned, you can get damage/healing or intellect gems instead. Very nice set, nonetheless.
i was wondering is this good for a resto druid and if so why does the tribal gear recipe before it have a total of 84+ healing and a level requirement of 65 while this only has 63+ healing and is a lvl 70 epic ?
im am a resto druid and curious if this is usefull to me because of the int and spirit if so was wondering why this has a total healing bonus of 63 while the last recipe i got is a lvl 65 blue with 83+ healing ?
umm.......... i would say that balance druids would need this set more than resto druids because of spell crit, dmg and quick healing touch could come in handy when health is low
i maxed out starlight wrath to get to spam wrath till i get a crit then with nature's grace use a 2.5 sec starfire
165 healing bonus hm..............
64 spell dmg
40 spell crit (overall set)
anyone notice this armor looks like ironfeather brestplate
Really, if you look harder, the dmg part is also dmg AND heal so you can add that to the + heal thats also there, totaling to about 170 heal. Its been said before, for a balance resto spec, this set owns, just for the fact it gives you the extra + heal that other +dmg pieces dont do. spell crit is a bonus not only for natures grace procs, but swiftmend, regrowth and healing touch crits (dunno if it affects the lifebloom end heal). Great set imo and im in the process of crafting now.
How come lw bop crafted items use nethers when the cloth bop stuff doesnt. i should make my druid a mooncloth tailor for better gear and easier to make i guess.
With this next patch, the socket bonus on every set piece is being changed to spell damage or intellect from agility (total of +9 spell damage, +2 int) so you might want to socket the items appropriately even now.
I don't think the grind to 375 LW was exactly "worth it" but this is set is pretty nice for a balance or resto druid (or especially a hybrid) for starting out with end-game raiding. I still think it's B.S. that the set requires 3 primal nethers to make while the equivalent tailoring sets don't require any.
With Tailors , they get to start making thier 3 piece set at 355 or so i believe , i dont understand why we have to wait to 375 to even learn our patterns ..
I am curious. If I were to switch from herbalism to tribal leatherworking and made this, and later decided to switch back to herbalism could I still wear it, would I still get the piece bonuses? I don't care about set bonuses I simply want the chestpiece. How would switching back affect this?
This will actually be the 'first' real armor I'll be able to make for my Balance druid sinds Burning Crusade came out.
Looks like Blizz left the Balance Druid hanging between Leatherworking 300-375 as these are all Rogue-Hunter-Shaman based. (Except for the Living Crystal Breastplate) Even most of the Epic drops are either Mail of Agi-Leather.
The biggest problem and biggest complaint on the EU WoW forum is:
- Not just the levelling from 370 to 375 which itself takes over 340 Clefthoof leathers (You don't get a Leatherworking XP point anymore after you create something so you need to double up on everything)
- But the first balance Druid gear requiring Primal Nethers.
So after days and days of none-stop farming of Celfthoofs and FINALLY reached 375 LW you are left with none-stop farming in instances for either Badges or a Primal Nether drop.
Some people say that Blizz made Primal Nethers hard to get so people can earn some money on the crafted gear.. Which is TaurenKaka for Engineers and Leatherworkers as 95% of the stuff these professions make AND require Primal Nether are soulbound on creation.
For the whole set you'll need:
Heavy Knothide Leather
Prices vary from server to server but aprroximately you'll need 1500/1700 gold for primal air + primal might, plus you'll need about 60 gold for the Heavy Knothide Leather
You'll hardly find Wind Scales at AH, nobody farms it, you'll probably need to be a skinner and do it yourself. Note: they drop only from windserpents in Blades Edge Mountain and you need to skin them and have a very low drop rate.
And remember you can always buy primal nether from
you'll need 10
Badge of Justice
for each Nether
Where to train how to craft the set:
Tribal Leatherworker Trainer in Thalanar(Feralas/Thousand Needles. Her name is
. She's near the gryphon. If you are not yet a Tribal Leatherworker first you must have to go to do some quests for
in Feathermoon Stronghold, Feralas.
Tribal Leatherworker Trainer is in the jungle in Stranglethorn Vale mid/south of the map approx, is name is
is a troll I think. But again you'll need to do some quests for
before talking to the real trainer
so what r u waitin 4: g2farm! lol
I AM having a hard time deciding on what to do about this set when i first saw it i was so excited but then realized you had to be a leatherworker to wear it, since then i have been debating dropping herbalism and picking up leatherworking but i am not sure it is worth it, especially considering how much keeps changing with the patches, what if i switch spend 1000g leveling to 375 take the time to farm for the mats and then make it and then the next patch has better gear that is easier to get, i need opinions here, please help me make this decision. thanks
Update: I switched to LW and got it to 375 within a week, but it was the hardest time i have ever had leveling any profession, got to 350 and everything was yellow so you could spend upward of 100g on one thing and not actually get a point for it. Make sure it is worth the gold to you, i do not regret my choice because i still think this is the best set for me but i spent over 2,000g doing it.
Ok this chest is better than the Druid tier 4 one balance chestpiece, except if you need spell hit. 5 or so, 19 more spell crit, 10 more spirit and normal sockets.
Wind Scales aren't that hard to farm Primal nethers are easy too. Got 2 in 1 week by doing 2 heroic sethekk halls run. Ikiss dropped em both times and both times I won over 2 other ppl lol. You can get them for 30 Badges of Justice too, but I would suggest that only if you are desperate, get em off heroics is easier. If you dont need the other Badge items, go for it.
Only Primal airs and Primal Might(600-700g) are hard / expensive to get. Heavy Knothide Leather needed is ridiculously low, at least for me ( got around 4 stacks ) and easily farmed. YOu will have more than 18 Heavy Knothide Leather if you farm Wind Scales
This is so Uber for balance druids it's not even funny any more
There are no good BOE craftables for moonkins!
Blizzard! FIX THIS AT ONCE!
And now it had extra +spelldamage because of patch 2.3, and the whole 33% spell damage from healing buff! Woot!
After patch 2.3, This set is pretty good good for balance, even is the best gear for balance.
the mats required for this is ridiculous... y is LW so freakin gimped
I'm seriously wondering if there is an answer to this, so no little kids come in with "lool n00b u r so dum!" because I honestly want to know: is there any reason to craft this set as a balance druid? I can get season one gear for a fraction of the work, and I like S1 much better for both PvP and PvE. I recently got keyed for Kara, so my PvP epics should do until I start to get better PvE gear from raiding. Am I missing anything? Thanks.
fyi you HAVE to be a tribal leatherworker if your are not and you farmed the mats bad for you
I have a 70 Boomkin that i use for PvP (i like to hit hard and when need be pop off a heal) I am going with the 4/5 season one set bonus..(hands, legs, helm, and shoulder) and also getting the 3/3 set bonus with this set
I think this is pretty good, any comments?
plz and ty
This gear i found is actually better than the T4 chest
Chestpiece of Malorne
. If you have the other t4 pieces, plus the other pieces of the Windhawk set (which work out well since the other pieces are belt and bracer) you get a damn good geared moonkin for pve. You can get some gems that give you spell hit from the yellow and more spell dmg from the 2 blues. Though you wont have as much spell hit you definately get more dmg. And Windhawk is also good for poppong out of MOONKIN and heal.
T4 (without chest) plus full Windhawk set
M/5s 19 (8 from the Winhawk set bonus
Im a balance druid beggining to try and get the mats for Windhawk set.... its gonna SUCK!
P.S. atleast 2 t4 for resto or balance plus
Insightful Earthstorm Diamond
= steady mana ( 2% for 300 on gem and 3% for 120 for the set bonus)
So, I'm working on this set for my resto druid, but is it worth the work? I've looked it up, and the bracers are the best leather healing ones for a while, as Kara drops none...but the chestpiece and belt have to go up against the Stonebough Jerkin and the Cord of Nature's Sustenance, which have slightly better stats, but aren't socketed...I'm currently Feral until Kara resets for us, so I can farm fairly easily, should I make em, or just cross my fingers the next time we hit Nightbane and Ilhoof?
If your Moonkin you can also benifit greatly because there isn't any leather belt and bracer for a long time, unless you want to spend BoJ for them, even then is better to spend BoJs on
Idol of the Unseen Moon
and a ring or something more needed. Also innervate gets more of a bonus on this since it has more spirit than the T4 chest.
2.4 comes out Tuesday Woot!
