Should be dropped by Prince Kael'Thas Sunstrider in The Eye. ;)
According to the lore, Kael'thas possesses a special sword that used to belong to Dath'Remar.
Granted, that sword is known as the Flamestrike, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
at around the same lvl of dmg and stats of tier 3 crafted weapons..(Depending on what you put in sockets)
I can confirm that this sword drops from Kael'thas since it dropped for us tonight 25/07/07.
This is an incredibly good weapon. It has a very high top end damage, a decent stamina boost, and the red, yellow, and blue gems add a potential 12 stam 8 str and 8 critical strike rating which adds up to a fearsome weapon (for warriors anyway). But then again you should expect good drops from a boss like Kael 'thas.
This item was supplied to Hunters on the PTR test realm and there I found it to be an exceptional weapon for a hunter.
A little less stam than Axe of the Gronn Lords which is more of a PvP weapon in the hands of a hunter. This on the other hand, is better for both PvE and PvP. Survivability, 3 slots for custmization, an absolute ton of crit and lots of AP. Massive raptor crits for drive by clippings and for those players who love to hug the deadzone. Best 2h for hunter I have seen yet.
Will be buffed next patch,
new: 130.4 dps, 53 stam, 37 crit rating, 110 atp
gain: 2.1 dps, 2 stam, 2 atp
Acording to worldofraids
Would like to have this for fun time pvp xD
But not something i would die not to have
Hunter weapon. *cough*
This is probably the best non-SV hunter weapon in-game, yes, even better than Halberd of Desolation or Trollbane.
if socketed correctly, this is in fact, the best 2H sword in wow, beating Cataclysm's Edge, i have in fact tested this sword, and it can not be trumped until The SunWell Plateau(assumed) comes out in patch 2.4
the gems i used were a Bold/Bright Crimson Spinal (interchangeable for hunters(bright)/paladins(eather)/warriors(bold)), a Smooth Lionseye, and a Shifting Tanzanite
OK, here are my thoughts...
, and 3x (These gems costs 300g per, but totally worth it IMO. (I play on Executus and got some cool contacts so don't come here and say they'll cost me 600g :P)). Which will make it look like this... More or less.
Twinblade of the Phoenix
Binds when picked up
375 - 564 Damage
(130.4 damage per second)
+20 attack power
+20 attack power
+20 attack power
Socket Bonus: +8 Attack Power (Nope, forget about this part, it'll be gray.)
Durability 120 / 120
Requires Level 70
Savagery (70 attack power)
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 37 (1.68% @ L70).
Equip: Increases attack power by 110.
Which gives you 240 attack power, 53 stamina and 1.68% crit.
So, IMO, this is an insane hunter wep. <3 :P
awosme sword guys !
any warrior or ret paladin would kill the hunter that say that need this one as s3 wep for hunter's only 1k point...
Aye, went last night as 2h ImpSlam spec. I topped the damage meters with a WF shaman in our melee group, and counted for 4% of every other physical player's damage. The thing about having a melee group is that almost every class boosts another's DPS in some way. Our fury warrior usually gets benched for me nowadays.
wish i could get this baby instead of s3 hammer, argh so ugly =(
Just to clarify; any hunter that rolls on this when a 2h PvE warrior or retribution paladin wants it and doesn't have it yet should retire from raiding =P
Yes the stats benefit every class that can wield this, but that's like saying that
Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury
should go to something other than a hunter. In similar ways, Thori'Dal benefits all classes that can use it immensely, but imagine if you were a hunter and a rogue won the roll for it over you.
Im laughing at the hunters using this weapon in the pictures. Let's hope that's just a PTR or private server they're in because any hunter using this sword (i dont want to use the word stupid) needs to learn what a stat-stick is. Even though it has 3 sockets, other weapons such as Shivering Felspine would benefit a hunter MUCH better.
Of course i could be wrong.
twin blade? i thought it was two handed lol whats up with that
One of the best looking swords in the high end I must say.
Edited, Jul 8th 2008 11:02am by FeldonKTH
its called twinblade because there are two seperate blades on the sword. thats for the newbs that are confused. and the stats are correct. it was being used on the ptr for arenas. if anything it drops from sunwell. if anyone actaully gets it, post your character with stats so we can see.
It supposed;y drops from kael'Thas but its of the pheonix wouldnt you think it would be off the pheonix lord?
This is an amazing weapon, the one listed here on alla is out dated!
It has 128.3 DPS now, still 3.6 speed. 51 stam, more crit and AP rating as well as 3 gem slots now, better then the blacksmithing tier 3 weapons.
Wowwiki has the updated version:

And it does infact drop of Kael'thas, the final boss of The Eye (Tempest Keep 25-man).
Edited, Jun 23rd 2007 5:00pm by Makenzie
lol its a pic from GM Island :P, just wanted to point that out... (for those of u about to go on at me how its not or watever, cuz i know ppl love to do that, look carefully and youll see a tier 3, 4, 5 and 6 vendor on the right :D) not sayin this is a GM item, but it hasnt dropped yet, only GM's have been seen with it
Edited, Jul 14th 2007 1:18am by Gorydeath
This sword is twohanded...
Twinblade, not Twin Blades. Would be cool if this could seperate into 2 pieces for a DW though.
Twinblade because its two small blades entwined into a 2h :)
I think the reason this does not show as dropped from a boss is because this is one of the 'free' items on the test server. Each class with Honored reputation with the Violet Eye, can get a free full tier 5 set and other 'goodies'. This falls under the other goodies. Believe it or not, the class that has this in their 'goodie' bag is Hunters. I'm not saying this is a hunter weapon, but Blizz certainly thinks it is for some reason.
Most of you people arguing over this weapon will never even see the boss that drops it. Now go play somewhere else like good little children.
this does come from kael the reason they have profile on this item is because you get it for free on the ptra
Why would a hunter need a 120dps weapon? Because Blizzard does not pamper hunters with weapons that are custom made for the class - with lowered dps and boosted stats. You look at caster staves of similar level, see 80dps or lower on it, and go 'there, thats the kind of weapons hunters should go for'. However, such weapons for hunters simply do not exist. There are no melee weapons with very high AP/agi/crit/stam but dps low enough for warriors NOT to drool over them.
Personally id much rather the weapon had 60 dps, 180RAP and 50 ranged crit rating. No such luck though...
its Very anoying the best weapon for hunters, is almost the best for all the melee dps classes.
who will ge it, it only depends on your guild rules, mi my guild only allows people to roll on thins depending on their specc.
soo the only ones who should be allowed to roll on it are Arms Warriors, Ret paladins, Hunters...
Itemization of PvE loots and PvP rewards have been heading in the direction of clear polarization so people would no longer go through drama of :
person 1 : "I'm gonna roll on this for PvP"
person 2 : "ZOMG LOOK AT BILLION OTHER RAIDERS WHO CAN USE THIS FOR PVE"
Pre BC, both sides had valid arguements as to why certain items should be rolled for pvp or pve.
However, after BC, this argument is *almost* no longer valid.
For any MS warriors who want to pvp, there are only two choices that are considered valid by top pvp teams :
Axe spec for high critical rate
Mace spec for stun proc
If anybody wants to argue that he / she wants to roll for this with their MS warrior for the purposes of PvP, please stop now.
Most of the raiding guilds either let ppl loot nether vortexes for free or comparatively lower value than most weapons.
THis means any PvP serious warriors, who should've gotten their tier 2 Two hand craftable - whether it be mooncleaver or deep thunder - would benefit from their weapons of choice a lot earlier, since most guilds aren't capable of killing kael'thas yet, and at cheaper price.
Keep in mind that both bloodmoon / stormherald have higher dmg range than this sword, which is more important than 2.X dps rating.
The only times that one could argue that MS warriors should be able to roll for this if the MS warrior is PvE spec'd (31 / 30 ) in a guild which can put the said warrior with at least two of the following in the same group :
1) Enhancement shaman who'll use windfury totem (ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL)
2) Feral druid which will make up the lost crit %
3) MM or Beast mastery Hunter.
When these conditions are fullfilled, then MS warriors can actually dish out comparable dps to Dual Wield fury warriors due to the fact that windfury totem inherently favors the usage of two handed weapons when it comes to optimal dps gain.
It should be noted even Nihilum has fury warrior / MS warrior (one of each kind - though the MS warrior consistently respecs depending on how many tankers are required for each raid / instances) who consistently joins them for raids. And yes, you do see them consistently placing anywhere between 3rd ~ 7th of dps chart.
As long as group / raid chemistry is geared towards optimal dps for all the participating members involved, then this is quite possible to have MS warrior in raids.
While MS warriors overall / prolonged single target dps may suffer overtime vs. fury warriors, for add intensive boss fights / trashmob encounters, i think many people would also appreciate sweeping strike + whirlwind combo from two handed warriors.
As for PvE hunters, this two handed weapon is now the new ashkandi of BC. There's no arguing that this weapon will be fantastic for either PvE or PvP.
It provides more AP / Crit than legacy, as well as providing versatile socket options which allow for higher customization in your other gears for raiding.
And yes, for encounters with AoE / Random Target Nukes / Resist oriented Bosses, stamina IS quite important for raiding hunters.
THe rule of thumb is DPS who STAYS ALIVE is a lot better than DEAD DPS.
So the conclusion is :
Looting rights :
1) Equal for PvE spec warrior/ hunter if warrior is in the same group as enh sham / feral druid
2) MS warriors STFU if you want it only for pvp and your guild isn't properly customized to suit 2H dps in raid (keep in mind you won't get an invite anyways PAST karazhan unless your guild was really suffering in # of ppl who participate in raids if this is the case).
UseBox has spoken, end your bickering right here.
Excellent Post Usebox. Bravo!
But I would suggest not being so offended by guys like the poster directly after you, you know as well as I do as well as anyone else who reads a post like theirs that ...
1. They have no idea what they're talking about and probobly have no idea who Nihilum is in the first place, but will probobly research who they are before responding again, lol. A person like this really has never experienced what it takes to do a really difficult raid, and therefore has no real concept of the give and take and individual sacrifice necessary to ensure possitive progession.
2. They may be a troll just trying to get a rise.
3. They are an MS warrior in a small undisciplined guild with no real understanding of true endgame raid efficiency .. you know the type ... They can get Shade of Aran down in less than 7 attempts, and because they were in the raid on that 7th attempt with their MS warrior they must be pure pwnage, yadayadayada.
Anyways, as an enhance shaman I can confirm your points about windfurry totem dependancy as well as confirm that two hand warriors are all out insane with my help, but are only roughly 70% of my personal DPS without the totem down.
You are absolutely right man, its all about balance, and good raids - truely good raids - are built around the best, most efficient structure as a cooperative per situation, not around individual player DPS.
The only thing I would add is that players raiding for PvP gear will usually be back seat to those gearing for PvE in the first place.
Again, a Disciplined raid will think to strengthen the raid before anything else, and by its very nature, PvP is a very personal aspect of the game, catering mostly to the individual in the general sense. Only when a guild chooses to form a PvP raid, and gear for such, does PvP rise to a different more communal level. For this reason, A smart Guild will not stagnate their raiding ability, so a single individual will be better at PvP.
My vote is with you here, though I lean towards "Hunter first" on this one, and ZOMG thats comming from an Enhance shaman to whom Hunters are our worst enemy for gear.
Indeed and hunters and warlocks has both great suvivability since the rogue has to be up and personal most of the time fighting.
But really, all classes has their advantages as well as setbacks. Ya'll know this, deal with it, no other class is better then any other. Altho Paladins beat warriors 90% of the time (this is a fact, just google it) "Just cuz they Bubblox and healz" says the mentaly @#$%^&ed warrior. We have heals and bubbles (LoH if you wish) for a reason, warriors have instant strikes and more then a few to choose, paladins have autoswing, SoC, CS.
To my point, this is a hunter item no doubt, MS warriors and Paladins can find alot of better stuff, if you ever get that far in raiding. Like
Which most high end guilds should have no or little problem getting for their Retadins and MS warriors.
this is bothering me for some reason (real problems) and i dont know if anyone else has noticed this, this sword looks like the soul calibur sword, of course, from the game soul calibur, and i dont know if anyone else mentioned it cuz i didn't really read other comments
btw this is a DECENT wep for hunters, but there are better, but for those, really depends on ur luck i guess
sinblade is very accurate in his comment. sta and ap are good for ANY dps class with the 3 sockets, fix it up to be more specific for your class. as a hunter myself, i would absolutly roll on this bad boy and i wouldnt be mad if a pally or warrior rolled against me. it easily could benefit them as much as it would me so no need to get all anal if i didnt win it. people have to realize that there are some items out there, especially weps, that a lot of different players of all specs and classes that would equally benefit. if an item is classified as a "hunter" wep or "ms wep" or whatever, then blizz would make it class specific. my thought is, if u can use it, and it benefits your char, then roll on it, and i would expect any class to do the same. thats just one mans opinion.
Nice posts Draylocke and Usebox...
I can also confirm the idea of strengthening your raid first before PvP oriented players, as well as the idea that forming symbiotic 5 man groups within a raid is the way to go.
I happen to run a modest guild that is making attempts on Mag. Sure its not the Sun God himself but we're getting there, and we're doing it our way. My guild has already more then learned the dangers of greedy self centered people. No question would everyone in my guild pass on this weapon for the hardcore raiding hunters to bid on before trickle down begins. Every one of my guildies knows that the guilds progression comes FIRST! We look at who makes best use of an item first and that basicly decides who can bid on it, NOT WHO WANTS IT FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL REASONS. Just as an example, the dragonspine trophy off of Gruul, sure lots of people in my raid want it, but they all know that melee dps makes best use of this item. Thus all my feral druids, hunters and basicly anyone else that wants the item is going to have to wait till the melee dps are outfitted first, and when I say melee dps I mean people who are assigned to do melee dps IN RAIDS, its only going to help us with Mag in the end!
There are also many many weapons that would suit a MS warrior better then this sword, we all know this, why do you think they made such nice craftable/upgradeable blacksmith weapons? These weapons are designed to be upgradeable so they stay with you for a long time, why would they make them so expensive if they werent ment to last? No one would bother crafting them otherwise. It is however, not a common site to see a hunter as a blacksmith so I think this is blizz's way of throwing them a bone. A MM hunter would imo make the best use of the stats on this weapon, its not that other classes CANT make use of it, but think about your raid first, think about your guilds progression, think about the dps your 4 or 5 hunters would put out if they all had this weapon, its likely a nice upgrade over whatever it is they have by now (Legacy is unimpressive IMO LOL). But then again as Draylocke eluded to its pretty much a given by now that a guild that has progressed this far shouldn't and doesn't have to be reminded of this.
As for party makeups our guild employs exactly ONE DPS warrior lol. I usually group him with 2 rogues ( to increase their dps as well ) a hunter (improved hunters mark a must!), and our ONE Enhancement shaman lol. The warrior is fury and if not asked to do any OT duties at all he is able to easily keep up with the rogues. We also like to sneak a druid in there if they arent in need of the imp buff, NO I DIDNT SAY DRUIDS CAN USE SWORDS FOOL! LOL This makeup with trueshot aura, imp hunters mark, battle shout, strength of earth, windfury and leader of the pack means this group will put out massive damage. Its much like grouping a shadow priest with your locks, mages with an elemental shaman or boomkin druid, or any mix of these, their damage goes through the roof!
Ok enough ranting, I just wanted to post in support of these two guys because I am in total agreement, they know what their saying, read and LEARN!
wtf m8! this wep is for any class that needs attack power and stamina!
I like how the people arguing about this sword will probably never, ever see it drop.
If a guild is this far in progression, they're not going to be stupid on who gets the loot...since they got Hyjal next, they'll give it to the person who benefits MOST to it. This goes the same for all other weapons that benefit multiple classes. The person who will benefit most will get it just in order to progress the guild.
This is a MAGE WEAPON STFU and L2PLAY....
Yepp agreed this is a mage weapon.
I personally think this would work best as a fishing rod
OMFG, this is so a rogue weapon.
So I got this on my Warrior awhile back. I'm full dual wield fury now, but back then, I was MS, mainly for PvE and some PvP.
I used 3 10str gems, for 60 attack power, and the Savagery enchant, for another 70. So 110 + 60 + 70 = 240 attack power, 37 crit rating, and 53 stamina. With 564 top end, it was pretty kick ass.
Cataclysm's Edge? Why? Mine has 20 more attack power, 37 crit rating, and 40 more life. Cataclysm's is nice with the armor reduction, but against Cloth, mine does just fine.
So my other guildies who didn't get the Twinblade, then got Cataclysm's.
It all worked out in the end, and the Hunters who were pissed at first, ended up not caring because they got the Halberd of Desolation anyway.
How come every link and such on thottbot is spammed by discussions of what class that should wear it? is it really that important?
noone of you just sitting here talking negative and spamming while doing no-good will never get your hands on this, as i wont either.
this is a best sword in game, rly, best DPS, with 53stam=530hp, 110AP = 55str, rly nice, and crit 1.7% = 34agi, and sockets i have +10streng +15stam and +10 crit rating, rly best wep in game and socket bonus +8AP, its 138AP, i crit with this sword +2000 normal attacks, mortal strike +2500 and with slam +3500 crits :)
i see no reason that this would be ideal for hunters when the veng glad weapon is only 1000 arena points and way way better than this sword stat wise.
Have it on my ret paladin. Anything not in plate is an easy kill. Warriors take a little effort.
id love to have this /drool but by the time i see a kael thas down im gona be level 80
what in of tempest keep is it in?
It's in "The Eye" a raid instance (i think its 10, no idea ^_^) I am a hunter, right now i have Sonic Spear and am waiting for Legacy when i get attuned, this, nah, no agility, i'de rather have agility then AP, but hey, thats me, we all have different opions, but i'de rather give this to someone who cares more about stamina then anything, im just about the Agility ^_^ Legacy, hopefully, will have enough to last me to lvl, at least, 74 :P
Alright, here's the question. I was comparing this weapon to Halberd of Desolation for a Hunter. Now, with the gem slots, this weapon is easily comparable to the Halberd. If you get yourself 3 Bright Living Ruby's, you get 48 SP total. That gives this weapon a 158 AP, 37 crit and 53 Stamina. This can get even better if you happen to be able to throw on a couple of Bright Crimson Spinel. Compare that to the Halberd of Desolation, which gives you 57 Stamina, 151 AP and 30 Hit Rating, which is actually better? You can get this weapon well before you ever go to Mount Hyjal or Black Temple. You get a bit less hit points, you trade hit for crit... so what does everyone else think? Honestly, for a Marksman hunter at least, this looks like it's outdone the once "be all, end all" weapon for hunters in this game.
YOUR ALL CRAZY,THIS IS SO OBVIOUSLY A PRIEST WEAPON!
375 - 564伤害
