Well, this trinket isn't that good for PvE, since Icon of The Silver Crescent, Eye of Maghteridon, and even Neltharion's Tear are better.
Some may say it is nice for PvP, but I will prefer wearing 2x +45 STA trinks or even abovementioned Icon of The Silver Crescent.
So, conlcuding, thats not "teh imbah lewt", especially for the place where it drops.
It would be easier to grab 5 people and go own BWL to get Neltharion's Tear (
), and it gives a bit of Spell Hit.
Unless, of course, the Voidwalker is needed for some endgame instances.
As if Felhunter pets were not hard enough to kill in the Arena already :(
This is an excellent trinket for PvP pet users and can help your Voidwalker tank Sarth.
Since the Felhunter is very squishie and skilled people in Arenas kill the puppy, so this will help it live versus magic users. In addition Felguard users can increase FGs chance to resist a Banish.
48 damage is nice, plus in most of the instances there is some AoE magic damage that melee types take.
I must say Im dissapointed in the warlock trinket, Seems to have very little use in endgame EXCEPT the spell damage
Compared to other classes though we got the short end of the stick
Still worse than most trinkets for PVE. I had hoped it would at least have the passive +dmg of Magtheridon's Eye, but no such luck. Another bone thrown to high end Demo locks (do they exist?) along with 2/5 T5.
This trinket replicates the core functionality of the Nemesis 5pc bonus that was used extensively in pre-TBC organized PvP, even after the advent of higher tier itemisation.
As a felguard specced lock, would you get a portion of these trinkets stats back from your pet via talents?
This isnt just an excellent PVP trinket. It is also an excellent PVE trinket. It really is for all round use.
The spell damage on this item, while it doesnt have the burst of something like a Scryers Gem, for PVE it has sustained Spell Damage. This is ideal for long boss fights. Over a long fight (Greater than 2 mins, the cooldown for most trinkets), this dmg is equivalent to +384 Spell Damage for 15 seconds or +288 Damage for 20 seconds.
I will definately bid on this when it drops.
This particular item is almost required for end-game felguard raiding. While it is possible to do it without it, this trinket makes it much easier to do.
Having raided through SSC and The Eye, I can say with 100% certainty that this item is in fact required for any serious Felguard raiding. Although the list is growing shorter, there are still a handful of fights in SSC/TK/BT/MHyjal that has massive AoE casting that tears through a Felguard. With their inherent resistanced, Gift of The Wild and this trinket, they should have close to 200 resist, which will be a bare minimum for survival.
The spell damage plus the resistances makes this trinket top tier, along with the Eye of Magtheridon and the Sextant of Unstable Currents (and click to use trinkets such as Scryer's Bloodgem and the Sha'tar trinket, although I personally am not a fan of click to use trinkets).
Whatever you do, please don't dereference this trinket!
(sorry, couldn't resist :P)
ArR: 35 + 24 + 130 + 25 = 214 Arcane Resistance (218 if Gnome)
FiR: 35 + 24 + 130 + 25 = 214 Fire Resistance
NaR: 35 + 24 + 130 + 25 = 214 Nature Resistance
FrR: 35 + 24 + 130 + 25 = 214 Frost Resistance
ShR: 35 + 24 + 130 + 25 = 214 Shadow Resistance (218 if Undead)
Master Demonologist + MD/MoTW + Void Star + MOTW.
Add this up to 225 resistance if the Druid has Improved MOTW.
If you are up against a Shadow encounter:
ShR: 35 + 42 + 130 + 70 = 277 Shadow Resistance (Master Demonologist + MD/SP + Void Star + Shadow Protection.)
Raiding end game with a felguard is a total waste of warlock thus the same witht this trinket.
Blizzard's decision to make Solarian skippable, has pretty much made it impossible for me to get this vital piece of FG Raiding gear. What raid that can do BT/MH will want to do Al'ar, VR and Solarian now that you can skip them? :(
Get this mojo fast!
Even if you going for some heavy PVP, this will greatly increase the health on your Felguard/Felhunter. Now with so much spell penetration gear it's
for any hardcore PVP'er with Soul-link.
This trinket is also nice for warlocks that are tanking Leo in SSC using some sort of a demo spec w/soulink. I personally use SL/Ruin.
The fire damage that you take, when transferred through SL to your felhunter, still counts as fire damage. So the resistance helps your pet stay alive longer, which helps you stay alive longer!
As a tanking warlock with this trinket and 2/5 T5, your felhunter should never die. May occasionally need a HOT but other then that you should be good.
Seeing as I'm regularaly affliction, Leo is the only reason I got this trinket.
Edit: For anyone who may bitch, no I didn't take this over a regular demo lock :P We don't have any.
Is there a comparable trinket for hunters and their pets?
Let's not miss the fact that this trinket also contributes 48 spell damage.
Whether or not the pet resistance is valuable, if you don't have a trinket that gives more than 48 damage, or a competitive combination of damage/spell crit depending on your spec, this is a pretty decent little piece.
About the resistance...the comments that it's better in PvP or solo play are probably accurate, with the possible exception someone mentioned about off-tanking casters. Felguard's resists are already decent, so 130 more would likely make him pretty resistant to similar-level mobs.
My two cents :)

i dont get it
why let something like this, which has a completly useless 2. effect in PVE (PET resistance), drop in a PvE instance?
Edited, May 7th 2007 5:45pm by Julikator
Druids SHAPEshift - Warlocks' imps' PHASEshift.
This is pretty useful in pve not only for the +48 spell dmg, but if you are the Warlock Tank on leotheras, this will help your pets survivability, if you were tanking with soul link.

I can see this becoming very useful in a BG.
Demo Lock Felhunter + Void Star = Immune to everything
Aside from that, there's probably better stat trinkets out, but meh.
i bet theyll buff this with +20ish stam or higher to make it better. cuzz its good beacause it does a unique buff but still seems lacking. or maybe im wrong and they wont toss stats on a trinket i dunno.
gg to the few locks to get one and tell us if its crap or good
Seems mediocre at best, there are lots of trinkets I'd rather have in it's place, but it is fairly obvious it is more PvP oriented. However, I think as far as PvP goes, active trinkets are generally a much stronger choice for trinkets, as they more suit the needs for large benefits for shorts amount of time rather than medium benefits all the time. PvP generally consists of shorter encounters of endurance than the PvE game.
Also, pets are generally fairly low priority in PvP, It might be worth it if they gave it some stam and perhaps a little resistance to the actual caster. None of the class trinekts this round are particularly overpowering.
I suppose that's better than in BWL when some classes had amazing trinkets and others were damned near useless, most of these are just mediocre.
Didn't they learn anything from Felheart's "(5)" set bonus? -.-
Nice for a demo lock, else its pretty useless. But it pretty nice for a demo lock. :)
can nice person or one the genius' on this page please say where the item is available from since that's the main purpose of these pages
anyhow.. i would not give away a trinketspot for this crap.... even the blue +dmg trinkets are better
how do you get this?
for demonologist locks this trinket will not only help with pvp but pve as well. there are plenty of instances where felhunters come into play as a way to dispell or interupt casting. also if you are speced master demonologist this will put your pet at near 300 spell resist or more also giving you an extra 70 spell resistance. if anyone remembers valestraz from bwl you can see where this may come in handy. if your felhunter can last through spells to continue giving you the extra resistance it may be more viable to keep him around when resistances are important.
Not to mention that your felguards will have around 150 spell resistance in pvp with the master demonologist buff. they were notoriously subceptable to spells and with that much resist they should only take about half the spell damage they normally would.
while i might be able to find some places to use this trinket.......for a PvE raiding trinket it sucks. also happens to be the only PvP trinket of the bunch.
demonology still lacks the damage to be a good PvE spec(besides 21 points for DS). and felhunter will normally live without this trinket. i never used the 5 set T1 or T2 set which had this effect because effects like this plain sucked.
i was hoping to see a nice trinket when i saw the other class trinkets.
oh well atleast our T6 set rocks! it almost seems like blizzard instead of giving us class sets almost made T4 dest, T5 demon, T6 affliction from the set bonuses.
This trinket seems to have been made with demo raiding locks in mind
I guess if you actually make it to this boss as a Demo lock and win it.. you deserve it.
Personally I wouldnt take a demo lock if a afflic or destro was available.
Not sure why anyone would think this trinket is useless. It has a huge amout of resistance for your pet, and when the effect is stacked with your resistances it would be great for farming or raiding.
Only time I'd see use of this trinket, is when someone tries to banish my felhunter, or when mage is AoE who hits it, as I hate when he dies in BG.
But besides that, it's of no use... and not good enough for me to lose some other nice trinkets out there.
The main objective of this trinket is for:
2. Felguard specc
(which tends to always be worth banishing regardless if you speak BG or arena, however clearly worth alot to arena warlocks using felguard)
In PvE this trinket is also made for felguard. The felguard would be able to stand close to alot of magic dmg bosses doing dmg whilst taking very little magic dmg himself.
48 spell damage is the most +damage on any trinket so it is quite nice
This trinket is consistent with what Demo locks are already good at in 2v2 and 3v3. 27/34/0 definitely wants this.
This trinket is highest on my shopping list, along with t5 gloves and pants.
Demonology or destruction warlocks' dps is higher than affliction starting from mid-TK/early-BT.
As warlock lead, I would still have one affliction warlock in my raid, for malediction, but that's about it.
But I agree, FG build without at the very least 2T5 is too much of a hassle to maintain your pet alive.
That, and it requires a lot of micro-management of your pet.
What's with all these people saying Demo sucks? I'm a 70 Demo lock in mostly Kara and equivalent gear, and with my imp out I have -20% threat and over +1.2k shadow damage under my own buffs. Using potions (no flasks) and a Wrath of Air totem from a shammy, I have gone over +1.5k shadow dmg. Throw in full party buffs (Fort, AI, MotW) on both me and my imp and I can easily add an extra +70-80 dmg from that. Give me and my imp a BoKings and that number gets even higher, or give me a BoSalv and (on top of my -10% threat from Affliction spells and -20% threat to all spells from MD with an imp) I can start full dps at or before 1 sunder, not hold anything back, and never pull aggro. I can substitute Drain Life for my Shadowbolt without losing a significant amount of DPS, and it heals me for 400-500 a tick. My Deathcoil heals me for 1k+ every 3 min during a boss fight, which is practically like having an extra health pot that never gets consumed. Beyond that, I take 20% less damage through Soul Link, which also gives me an extra 5% damage. If my imp dies from Soul Link, I have a rank each in Fel Domination and Master Summoner to resummon the imp in 1.5 sec.
On top of all that my Imp'd Healthstone means that everyone in the raid can carry 2 master healthstones at once if there are 2 locks in the raid, and my Imp'd Imp gives out an extra +22 stamina from its Blood Pact over any other imp, a boon to anyone healing the tank.
Throw me in with an Affliction lock or a Shadow Priest and my dps skyrockets even higher.
Any Demo warlock that uses his Felguard in a raid needs to l2play, and anyone that thinks full Demo lock isn't a useful raid spec needs to take a closer look at the talent tree.
Its awesome to find trinkets such as this with a really helpful and unique function. Tbh i'd kill for my felpuppy to have that massive increase in resistance. Definitly a handy thing to have if your pvping, and ofc the 48 spell damage that comes with it is just fantastic.
I wouldnt choose to raid with it unless for some reason or other i desperately needed to though.
yes i got this when i was actually trying demo out with felguard in raids during the raid i actually got this trinket, very usefull for a lot of PvE content as well as pvp stuff, like resisting frost novas, AOE fears, banishes etc. I really reccomend this trinket for any lock wanting to try out demo. And also, demo with a felguard is the highest dps you can muster in most raid encounters. You simply cannot out dps a good geared demo lock with any other spec. L2p all you guys who dont realise this. What, you thought around 1400 spell damage and a pet that hits hard was going to be bad?
This could be usefull for soul link lock fighting Leotheras
In human form, Leo deals melee dmg exclusively. In demon form, Leo deals fire dmg to single target (his lock tank usually) + all that are dumb enough to stand close by and take splash dmg.
Ofc you will park you SLed pet OUTSIDE of splash range, or have him beat on Leo with other melees, while you tank Leo from distance.
This means this +resistance for pet is completely useless for Leotheras's fight. +DMG is nice, but there are better choices.
I just have to say I LOVE how the advocates of demon spec simply "forget" to mention that destro locks have somthing called crit, which with ruin doe 100% more damage WHEN THEY CRIT, i dont care how much a normal shadowbolt hits for, if your destro with a decent crit rating, the dps will be far above any demon lock.
oh yeah and destro scales better with gear. and kara is NOT a real raid its like ubrs was, only bliz felt like ruining the term "epic" and making them so damn common
I still use this thing for BG's, when I can afford to give up the extra resilience since there is less chance of organized focus-firing. It keeps my Felpup from getting killed as often, which is probably one of the more annoying things to happen, so it's got its uses. There are, of course, better trinks for PVE and Arena.
It's incredible reading some of these posts where people are bagging felguard raiding, are you talking from experience or say it because the majority label it as a bad spec?
I made the move to felguard raiding when I got my 2x T5 set bonus (Your pet is healed for 15% of your dmg done), otherwise its probally not worth it, since your pet can die to quick without a SP in the group.
I've tried many different specs for raiding and here are the main contenders, plus a bit of comparison for the people that just dont know.
Unstable Affliction raiding spec (41/2/18)
-Pros: Good Dps, Multitude of utility for most fights, easy to use
-Cons: Doesnt scale well with gear during and after SSC/TK
Destro raiding spec (0/21/40)
-Pros: Great dps, big crits/burst dmg, scales well with +dmg, +crit, +hit
-Cons: Mana inefficient, lack of utility, boring...
Felguard Raiding spec (6/44/11)
Pros: Great dps, can benefit in a lot of fights with melee dmg, added survivability, fun and sometimes challenging
Cons: On a small amount of boss fights, the felguard is useless and dies to quickly. Requires a bit of micro-management to insure it stays alive.
I've found Felguard raiding to be the most enjoyable and challenging. I've seen a consistent 1400-1500 DPS on some boss fights with this spec. When i'm unable to constanty spam shadowbolts, usually sits around 1000-1100 dps.
Destro can produce just as much, but on a lot of fights where its not as simple as tank and spank, the DPS figures cant be reached.
With my gear I've seen UA reach as high as 1200-1300 dps, but thats on a fight where I can stand still and spam shadowbolts, otherwise it holds a consistent 600-800 dps.
I've taken my FG through most of SSC/TK. Only problems I've had are on Void Reaver, where his melee poundings can start to smash him around a bit. Easily use FG when tanking for leo.
This trinket would work wonders for the FG in raiding and pvp. Adding extra resists to simply keep it alive, and the trinket has decent +dmg.
So to those people out there saying this is a useless spec, and this is a useless trinket, please do some reading, or try it for yourself.
Talrusha - Aman'thul
I agree with the above statement. Demo as a raid specc is grossly underestimated. I think there are a few points (gear wise/damage wise) where you really cant afford that point in Felguard (opting for ruination instead becasue of all the nice crit gear out there). But with a few more upgrades to my gear (the T5 would do just nicely) i will hopefully get back my beloved beasty to fight by my side again. This trinket would definately speed up this process for me as i love raiding and Arena (btw felhunter in arena is becoming less and less useful nowadays).
And yes...even tho there are better trinkets out there, i dont have access to any with 48 spell dam on them, that alone is worth it imo, especially if your spell hit is already high enough to do without the Scyrer's Booldgem.
For any1 heavy Afflic spec (especially if you dont have ruinaton), this would make a great set with "icon of the silver cres" BoJ item. On a boss these 2 trinkets would average out an extra 115 spell damage if CD click on icon. For battles less than 2 mins even more.
This trinkets real benifit is seen on a SL/SL lock in arena matches. Although it isnt a trinket you have equipped 100% of the time. I do 2v2 with a shaman and we are basically an outlast team. I equip this trinket while facing another caster/healer team because keeping my pet alive is key to winning the fight by not allowing the opposing healer to drink. Your felhunter with this trinket equipped should have around 350 resist all, not very easy to DPS through as a caster. Other then this instance I don't use the trinket often... melee can still hack through the hunter like nobody's buisness even with tainted blood.
Hope this is helpfull.
