These aren't really what i would call exceptional. I run around with green gloves that are on par with these. Expedition gloves of the bandit. Surely there are many blues that exceed these. Free void shard
12 weapon skill rating is about 3 or 4 weaponskill, wich means 0.3% - 0.4% crit.
Although these gloves are a big pile of poo (disenchant loot), i'd recommend to take a look at this blue post:
"Let's say you increase your weapon skill by 4.
Against a mob 3 levels higher than you, you get: 0.8% lower chance to miss, 0,4% lower chance to get dodged, 2,4% to be parried, and a 0,8% higher chance to crit. That means a 4,8% net increase."
And 4 weapon skill is exactly what these gloves provide. But looking at the rest of the stats... you should better look for T4 gloves or Dexterous Manipulation (Huntsman).
If you are in a high end raid guild, and you are a combat rogue, please, spend 2 points in weapon expertise because it will greatly increase your sustained dps (this has been tested and confirmed).
These will be better after Patch 2.1. On PTR the stats are the following :
+12 sword/mace/dagger rating
makes them really more valuable. glad that i got them.
These are a dream come true for a heavy Sub rogue who lives off of weapon swapping. Subtelty doesn't have anything beyond AP boosts to increase its white damage or weapons with a + to skill. These cover everything a Sub rogue might want and with Sinister Calling (+15% Agi or around 29.9 Agi from the gloves) and Deadliness (+10% AP or around 92 AP also just from the gloves) and a bonus to all weapon skills these are great for any Sub rogue who wants to go PvE.
...too bad the Sub tree is pretty weak compared to all the others when it comes to PvE damage -.-
New stats for 2.1
Weapon Skill with Swords, Maces and Daggers 15
+29 AC, +3agi, +10sta, +14 AP, +3 Weapon skill
Could use some hit rating instead 3 different weapon skills...
said a feral druid... :p
these dropped from one of the horses before Attumen. No rogues were present, sadly, so we sharded.
I think someone forgot fists skill on those...
Do these stack up with the weapons expertise talent?
Dropped for me last night.
- sword daggers and maces +15 skillrating (aka 3weapon skill). WHY NOT FIST is my question
Enchants : I putted 26AP on it as i need it but best enchant is 15agi in my opinion. If u got enough AP or Crit think about the old Minor Haste Glove enchant might be intresting ( gives 1% attack speed).
I was the only rouge in the group when these dropped. Since I'm very lacking in purples (just engi goggles and Edgewalker's from Moroes) I decided to at least save these in the bank. Definitely not worth loosing 1% hit and the 4 piece bonus from Assas set. Will probably save it for resist gear as the above comment laments not doing :P
Now they give: 29 Agi, 34 Sta, 60 AP and 15 Sword/mace/dagger skill.
These scale nicely with gear. Would recommend getting these over netherblade, if you have the two set bonus from shoulders and legs or likewise.
Has anyone done the numbers how these will be for feral druids in the 2.3 Patch - Now they have innate "Expertise" instead of Previous skills.
So those are supposed to be better than
(Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation) socketed with 2x Glinting Noble Topaz (+16 Hit) on a bossfight??
1: Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation
Red Socket (+8 Hit)
Blue Socket (+8 Hit)
Socket Bonus: +3 Critical Strike Rating
Equip: Increases attack power by 42.
2: Grips of Deftness
Equip: Increases your expertise rating by 15.
Equip: Increases attack power by 60.
Which are better where and why??
Expertise conversion form rating is truncated and not rounded, thus this piece grant 3 Expertise points and not 4... 15 / 3,9 = 3,85. The .85 is ignored by the system.
This is important because if you use this piece together with Shapeshifter's Signet, which grants 20 Expertise rating, the resulting 35 rating generates 8 Expertise points, instead of the supposed 9 you should get by a 8,97 that results.
Considering 1 Expertise rating lowers by 0,25% either parry and dodge, that truncation "costs" you 0,5% of your hit if you are tanking, or 0,25% if your back-DPSing.
For a Rogue, this means that Netherblade gloves (T4) and Violet Signet of Master Assassination (KZ ring at Exalted rep) is a better solution if used with Garona's signet, giving you 42 total hit rating, that is 2,66 hit%.
This Gloves are interesting if you're already Hit Capped.
Drops off trash before Attumen.
Now it has expertise, sta and agi
Not the best gloves out there :P Got it from imps before Ilhoof.
They Should really update this item. My rogue got these last week along with 3 other epics(good week for me >.<;). It has +15 skill rating to Swords, Maces, AND Daggers. Weapon Skill Rating >>>> hit rating. That's like being a lvl 73 character on each hit with swords maces and daggers. And if your Sword or daggers combat with this and you have weapons expertise, then it's like being a lvl 75. That's some awesome hit rating there IMO.
Grips of Deftness
req lvl 70
Equip: Increases AP by 60
Equip: +15 Sword, Mace, and Dagger Skill.

In the upcoming patch these gloves are renamed Grips of Deftness
54 attack power
12 dagger/mace/sword rating
Got these from some trash while clearing to the Curator. This item needs to be updated, it also has a 12 dagger skill rating.
Had these drop off of the Phantom Servants right before Moroes, kinda weak gloves imo. Almost the same as Handgrips of Assassination.
got these yesterday from one of the thrashmobs on the way to midnight.
Nice to see they've got a litle buff in the last patch. I've been keeping them in my bank waiting for it to happen. Now buff them again with a little crit or maybe a socket and i'll actually wear them :)
Awsome glovees, i joined a pugg raid and this dropped of one of the first trashes, lost to another rogue by 11points on roll
why no fist +skill i wonder...
what i wonder...is if there are better than cobrascale gloves.
for a rogue wit 360 wpn skill, will the addition 3 wpn skill increase make any difference compared to the 22 hit rating(roughly 1.3%)
As a rogue if you happen to get these gloves drop don't think of them as crap roll for them and keep them until you have 230-250+ +hit or the full 5 piece T4 set or if you only have or even don't have the T4 gloves these are better than the T4 gloves by far they offer more AP, and I think crit as well (don't quote me thought I'm tired and cant be bothered doing the math) you lose the +hit but with high enough +hit that wont matter and you will get a better overall boost from the 15 weapon skill rating than 17+hit.
Its amazing that the little school boy forum posters have not attacked this page yet I'm guessing they don't really understand these gloves I hope it stays that way.
like grumpy said, this +15 wpn skill rating adds 3.9 wpn skill, but effectively only 3.0 cuz blizz prolly rounds it down during combat.
this equates to +0.3% crit against higher level mobs. the bonus to +hit is non-linear, and depends on your weapon skill vs. your mob's defense skill. refer to the 'chance to hit' section at
Had a fury warrior beat out a rogue for these gloves in our guild....any thoughts on this?
The idea of a fury war useing these gloves arn't that far fetched though. Think about it a fury wants high crit so AGI is nice, since most plate dps doesn't have much crit. This way flurry can be runing 24/7 thats 25% extra dmg anyway you flip it or spin it. Why does dps warriors need plate? they arn't soppose to get in hit in raids! Pvp isn't good cause all of the Stam and other wasted stats, don't need 14K hp if i'm dps why? cause your not soppose to be getting hit, lol. So with all that said these gloves wouldn't be half bad... If the raid wont let a dps warrior in on curator, lol.
yeah, i would definately quit that guild. LOL @ the warr that pulled that garbage. i've had @#$% ninja'd countless times by fury warriors
Just curious, but isn't Expertise a good stat to have on your gear for farming? Since it reduces dodge and parry (abilities only possible when the mob is facing you) this would be good for a farming set, even if you had a better raiding DPS piece.
