It only procs off direct spells and attacks. DoT/HoT does not proc it.
Cat form blessing is seriously underpowered (assuming the numbers in first post are correct), seeing as Hourglass of the Unraveler procs more often (if used by a high crit cat) with 3 times the AP bonus. All others are pretty good though.
Bear form is the best one. It's essentially the equivalent of throwing on a 7-800 armor piece.
does anyone know if this would proc on random effects caused by set bonus's ie dreamwalker 2 piece or t4 2 piece for druids?
I have been testing this on the test realm as a balance druid.
It has proc'd from buffing thorns, natures grasp and inital casts of Rejuv/regrowth. Haven't had it work from lifebloom yet but thats just proc rate more than anything i think.
Spell proc in moonkin form is:
Amusingly enough when it procs it procs based in the form your in rather than the form you casted in. For example i cast natures grasp in caster form, the proc goes off when rooting the person hitting me in moonkin form resulting in the moonkin proc.
New stats as of today on test
Caster: +175 dmg/healing
Cat: +64 str
Bear: +4070 ac
Was not able to test tree or moonkin
I'm curious as to whether this trinket has a hidden cooldown on the proc, like most other chance on hit trinkets, as the catform blessing seems rather weak compared to other similar trinkets.
For example, hourglass of the unraveller (supposedly) has a hidden c/d of 30 seconds, but adds 300 AP for 10 seconds, not to mention the passive 32 crit rating. This means that (assuming it procs on average 15 seconds after the cd is up) it adds 300 AP for 20 seconds out of every 90, which translates to an average +67 AP.
Wildroot adds 64 strength for 15 seconds, 3% proc chance. 64 x 1.23 (HotW and SotF) x 2 = +157 AP. With attack speed 1.0 and one special every 4 seconds, it's going to proc on average a little more often than once every 30 seconds, which translates to an average of around +80 AP.
Conclusion: Even if this trinket has no hidden c/d (which I highly doubt) it's still not as good Hourglass for pure dps (+13 AP, - 32 CR). It only really shines in situations where we're switching between roles.
The effect in bearform:
Bear swing timer: 2.5s
Assuming moves every swing timer and GCD, that is per 30 seconds:
(30 : 1.5) = 20 yellow + (30 : 2.5) = 12 white moves
3% procrate on the trinket means: 0.64 procs per 30 seconds
(30 x 1) : 0.64 = 1 proc every ~47 seconds.
It lasts 15 seconds so that's about 32% uptime.
100 : 32 = 3.125
4070 armor buff : 3.125 = ~1302 armor unmodified on the trinket
460% bear armor modifier means:
1302 : 4.6 = 283 armor unmodified. In bear form, it's roughly equal to a trinket with 283 armor assuming you use abilities every GCD, not accounting for lag. Due to the chance-based nature it fluctuates.
This item should also be able to proc upon being hit, making it useful in Dire Bear form and maybe even pvp.
what's also interesting about this trinket is the blessings that proc in different forms stack. For example, you are in normal form and it procs off casting regrowth, then you switch to moonkin form and it can immediantly proc the moonkin blessing off a moonfire or wrath. In these occasions you get the +175 damage from the cenarion blessing + the 209 damage from the moonkin blessing, giving a total of +384 damage. Now, if you get real lucky and proc a sextant or nexus-horn as well you and you a get of almost 600+ damage from trinkets alone.
Looking at it from a balance perpective, it seems to be more of a trinket to use against trash mobs than long boss fights (because of the differing spell rotations)
Depending on cast sequence used for mana efficiency :
* IS, SFx4 -> 5 casts in 13.5s -> 30 casts in 81s
That means roughly 1 proc per every 80s (a bit less actually), which makes the trinket worth roughly +35 spell damage, ie less than even the Glowing Crystal Insignia (
* IS, MF, Wx6 -> 8 casts in 12s -> 32 casts in 48s
That means roughly 1 proc per 50s which makes the trinket worth roughly +60 spell damage.
Better but still less than the Icon of the Silver Crescent (
This would however require "trash" fights of more than a minute to yield the full benefit.
This tringy really shines in cat form, last night at Morgrim i was only dps, ProcWatch showed an amazing 17 hits/proc....around 2.8 procs per min....and yet i was in bubbles, ressing etc.
Thing is, raidbuffed the proc is 175 AP in cat (+BoK = 70 str x 2.5 AP = 175), has no cooldown - overlapped a few times. Let's say if you can ONLY dps for a long time it's roughly 3 ppm's - 45 secs buff per min :
(175*45)/60 = around 130 AP constant - nothing biggie, but since its hybrid and has no CD, i'd preffer it for boss dps'ing (Hourglass gives 1.5% crit and 50 constant AP, since its around 1 ppm)
This is a lackluster healing trinket.
Assuming you are always in tree and cast 30 spells/minute (generous estimate):
30 * 0.03 = 0.9 ppm
* 326 = 73.35 effective +healing
Essence of the martyr- 133.5 eff. +heal(84 equip + 49.5 use)
Oshu'gun relic- 88.5 eff. +heal (53 equip + 35.5 use)
...both of which have far better uses instead of an uncontrollable random proc.
Based on others' analyses, I would still recommend taking it (over DEing) for non-healing activities, since it is probably better than other easily-obtainable options in this slot.
I'm not sure if I buy the concept of this trinket...sure, it does different things in different forms, but most of the time raiding requires you to specialize roles, and that is how most people spec their druids anyway. So assuming, for example, that I will be in Moonkin form for the entire raid, this trinket seems underpowered compared to, say, the Icon of the Silver Crescent. And if it makes me shift forms (and alter my casting rotation) in order to maximize the effect of the trinket by gaining 2 buffs, that is both mana and time inefficient, and doesn't make this trinket better.
Some quick calculations: the most generous buff stacking for Moonkin will occur when spamming Wrath. Each cast gives you a 3% chance to get the buff, or a 97% chance NOT to get it, and the buff lasts 15 seconds unless refreshed. In other words, the chance of having the buff on at any given time, if you are casting the entire time, is 1-(.97^10), since 10 is the maximum number of Wraths that can be cast during the 15 second timeframe to refresh the buff. This comes out to about a 26% chance of having the buff at any time. Multiply that .26 probability by the 209 damage buff and you get about 54 +dmg. Wholly unimpressive next to the Icon and a range of other DPS caster trinkets, especially given the generous assumptions of the above example (infinite mana to keep casting Wrath + no spell casting delays or interruptions).
It may be designed for "hybrid" use but in a raid particularly there is almost nobody for whom it will excel given the specialized nature of most roles that need to be filled in raiding. Admittedly, my math might be slightly off, as it has been a while since I took any probability, but if someone can point out where I went wrong and why this trinket is obviously worth spending DKP on, I will gladly reconsider.
Edit: the above example is obviously how it would work for Balance druids, and for trees it would require a separate theory which, not being a tree druid, I am not prepared to comment on. I think the one REAL use of this trinket in raids may be for Feral druids who have to switch from bear to cat or vice versa mid-fight, as it will provide utility in both forms that comes close to more specialized trinkets, although if you know you will be in one form the entire fight there are still probably better trinkets available.
WTF where they smoking when they made that item, that is the most useless trinket in the game. 3% proc for 55str in cat form.. sick joke half crusader with no heal.., 3% 3500 armor... right i can have my 1200 from lvl 60 blue tinket 24/7.. with dodge to boot. This hybrid gear is extremely anoying. And dont get me started on druid feral teir 4/5...

The good thing about this trinket is that it doesnt have a 45sec CD aftter it have activated, like other COH trinkets. This means that it will proc alot during a long tearm fight. Love it realy
For a SSC trinket this item is weaker then it should be, proc rate is low and nothing amazing. The procs should either be more powerful or proc more often.
clicked the equip bonus on the trinket link and it said there is a 3% chance on any spell or attack to give the druid bloodlust...that can't be true. first druids are OP in TBC, so they are getting a talent nerf, and then they are given a 3% proc of bloodlust on ANYTHING they can do, attack or spell? I hope that post below mine is more accurate.
Hydross the Unstable (first boss in Serpentshrine Cavern) drop i think ~
Catform: 55 strength
Bearform: 3500 armor
Moonkin: 180 dmg
Treeform: 280 healing
Caster: 150 dmg/healing
(don't ask me if this is true) ^^
there are so many better trinkets for everything it's just silly,
63 str in cat with that low proccrate is not good enough by far since there are a trinket from badges- the Bloodlust broach that gives 72 ap passive and 278 ap when used on a 2min cd...
Same goes for every other stat it may give.. there are way better trinkets that you should already have since they are so easy to obtain from normal and heroic instances
The only thing that is quite unique and useful is the 4k armor in bear form.. but still proccrate too low and if you are doing SSC as a tanking druid you are probably armor capped anyway so even this is completely useless.
Conclution.. completely useless.
Catform: 55 strength
Bearform: 3500 armor
Moonkin: 180 dmg
Treeform: 280 healing
Caster: 150 dmg/healing
(don't ask me if this is true) ^^
Sounds like cats would have best chance of the 2-3% proc due to thier 1 second attack speed.
im wondering if this trinket is really worth it, yea the proc sounds nice as a resto druid but does it proc alot? i know some things may say they only have a 2% or 3% chance to proc but it actually seems to happen quite often.
humanoid: +150 damage and healing
doomkin: +180 damage
tree: +280 healing
cat: +55 strength
bare: +3500 armor
This appears to be the first of a new wave of class specific trinkets, this is a solid start, that appeals to all specs fairly equally (although some are weaker than others) this seems like this could go over well, I'm assuming one or two for each class will drop off each boss (Except maybe Vashj and Kael?) out of Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep. We'll see soon enough, anyway, that's just my speculation.
i would suspect that that the +55 str blessing for cat form would be weaker because it will be proccing more due to the fast atk speed of cat form. A 3% chance on hit would mean cat form has a better chance of proccing than bear form, or others. Still an amazing item imo
Hourglass of the Unraveller
is way better for cat druids... it'll proc about as often for a well geared druid (3% of all hits vs 10% of crits) and it's 300 ap for 10 sec instead of 135 for 15... I think they should buff the cat bit.
EDIT: I think +125 str would be about right... that works out to 309 attack power for 15 secs. it's slightly more ap than the hourglass, and lasts longer, as well as being increased by blessing of kings. I'd say that's a reasonable buff considering how much more difficult this is to get than the hourglass.
EDIT 2: It could be that this is much better than the hourglass if it has no hidden cooldown. the hourglass can't proc again within 40 seconds of its last proc, so if this has no hidden cooldown, it's much better for overall dps, tho I'd still use the hourglass in pvp since that's short, sporadic fights.
EDIT 3: Someone on wowhead has confirmed that this proc has no hidden cooldown at all, it can even proc again before the effect has worn off, renewing the duration. So the hourglass is actually on relatively equal footing with this item. I'd have to run more careful tests to see which turns out to be better.
the hourglass trink from bm procs a lot in cat. its not hard to get 35% unbuffed crit on a druid and for crit geared druids i would say this is a must.
ok, i've been lookin at this trinket for awhile and i have a questions.
Is the buff specific to one thing? Meaning: if im in bear form, will i only recieve the bear form buff? Sure, it makes sense that you'd only recieve one buff from it, especially when it comes to the moonkin+humanoid buff, but this trinket would seem much better if they all were just one buff.
im mostly worried because im resto without tree.. so i'd only get the 150 damage/healing
the dude that had about 32K armor what is your character and realm, i'd love to see your gear man.
32k armor is NOT 75% reduction. it is 75% reduction against SAME LEVEL MOBS. against bosses, which are lvl 73, you need 36k armor (if you dont believe me, look at the armor scale on this site) that 3500 armor will ALMOST get you to 75%, so i would say its still a must
The proc is just too low for this to be of any use for a resto Druid. I bought it and tried it out to see for myself and it just never procs..
It's Aducator, you beat me in a duel outside of org multiple times in a row O.o
This item is almost useless. The proc rate is so bad ur better off using another trinket. You woould think being that this trinket drops from hydross that the trinket would be better than most other pre-ssc trinkets but its not. Until blizz buffs the proc rate its gonna be sitting in my bag.
I'm a resto druid, got the trinket the other night. According to the raid report after the run, I cast around 3k heals, the trinket proced for me 4 times. The thing is a POS thank god I didn't spend any DKP for it. In my guild class trinkets are /random FTW
You get me a picture of this, and I'll cry with joy.
eh why bother, the passive bonuses from other trinkets are better.
why would you want +180 damage 3% of the time when you could just have +43 damage or +55 damage 100% of the time?
Got this the other night and i have to say that this trinket is worthless for us healing dr00ds, might as well just DE and send the !@#$ to guild bank!
Fantastic review of this trinket. I replaced my Lower City Prayerbook with this trinket and I am thankful for it. Something told me this was just... fantastic. I agree, however, that Blizzard needs to increase the Proc rate since 3% is kind of lame. I am probably going to post something about it on the Druid forums in the near future.
seen a druid tank Illidan.
WTF me as a druid can MT alot of the boss's befor there my guild has not downed him yet but the point im not even in ssc and i got 22k HP in raid buffs 52% dodge is raid buffs and 32k armor -10% chance to be crid and -5% of crid dmg.......And druids are ment to tank slow hitting boss witch on a boss that hits fast as heck a druid would take more dmg then a war or prot pally but a war can tank slow and fast hitters fine just not as good as prot pally = fast and druid = slow
and Illidan in not that hard of a fight Vs. other BT fights
Alchemist's stone FTW
New alchemist's stone for healers ( redemers i think) even more ftw
