Rhonin is a powerful human mage of the Kirin Tor. He was instrumental in breaking the power of the Orcs at the end of the Second War by freeing the Dragonqueen Alexstrasza from her imprisonment by the Orc Warlock Nekros Skullcrusher, who used the Demon Soul to keep her prisoner.
Rhonin was once a promising mage of the Kirin Tor until a disastrous mission involving the reckless use of magic cost the lives of all his comrades. He was cast into probation until the opportunity for penance arose with a dangerous mission into Khaz Modan. He was assisted in this mission by the High Elven ranger Vereesa Windrunner, the warrior Dwarf Falstad Dragonreaver, and the dragon-mage Krasus, who was the instigator of this mission.
He was also assisted (at first) by the evil dragon Deathwing, but Deathwing's true purpose was to steal some of Alexstrasza's eggs to replenish his own decimated dragonflight. With a gemstone created from Deathwing's scale, Rhonin was able to destroy the Demon Soul and release Alexstrasza.
As a note, aside from the bonus from The shadoweave tailor set, this has higher int, stam, total spell damage (82 over 78 shadow only). You gain the spell crit & hit for the exchange of the 2 slots though.
Spell damage wise, Frozen Shadoweave has 96 if socketed with 2 +12 spell dmg gems and this has 81. 15 spell dmg difference. In exchange for 15 spell dmg you get 27 hit, 24 crit and buckets of stam and int. Worth it for destruction warlocks, not for shadow priests and affliction warlocks however.
Minimal upgrade from vashj's robe.
Depending what you like etc.
Robes of Rhoning got shitloads of stamina and int so thats where the upgrade is.
Rhonin is awsome, I read the first book of the Well of Eternity trilogy... he was the one that saw the powers in Illidan and trained him. For Illidan, he was almost a Shan'do (honorable teacher)
dont had the time to read the other 2, jet
In Wrath Of The Lich King, Rhonin will be the leader of the Kirin Tor in Dalaran in Northrend, having a similar role and importance as an NPC as A'dal of the Sha'tar in The Burning Crusade.
No offense to those with such vast knowledge of Warcraft Lore but...
Are there any opinions/comparisons against
Shroud of Absolution
and which would be better for a Shadow Priest? For those of us curious in wanting an educated answer, at least.
Vestments of the Sea-Witch
are better than these in almost all situations. Gemmed with epic gems, they have 1 less damage, at least equal hit, and much better crit, at a cost of 20 stamina and 10 intellect.
Worth noting that with the epic gem vendor arriving along with the SSO content these robes arn't as attractive as they previously were, because almost every raiding caster can hit-cap themselves with a
from the welfare epic vendor and focus on stacking dmg & crit with +12dmg gems. The previous Spinel shortage will no longer be an issue for such gemming.
with three Runed Crimson Spinels:
Not huge differences, however one drops from a heroic 5-man instance and one from the last boss of a 25-man raid of course.
However unfortunately Kael's robes look horrible, and as a fashion concious caster I'd definitely advise against such a terrible fashion faux pas.
Rhonin = Human mage in the WoW book "Day of The Dragon" who freed the red dragonqueen Alexstrasza from the orc Nekros Skullchrusher..quite a nice book, and really cool that this is in the game!
Rhonin is master . I red The War of Ancients and it's really cool .
I read Day of The Dragon recently actually, and I think it's really cool this is in game. Not a bad robe either.
Inquiring weaksauce's want to know!
Manrod - Durotan
This drops from Archimonde in Hyjal past
It has belonged to Rhonin one of the last defenders of tirisfal
It is very good both for mage and warlock and for Shadow priest
This is a very nice drop
I'm also eager to see what they look like, as Rhonin is one of my favourite characters, especially after reading the War of the Ancients Trilogy.
I agree, lets get more artifacts from the cool kickass characters from the books, hell, make em NPC's I dont mind...
If you're fans of the graphic novel (Which I thought had a good story to it but was poorly laid out and all the events occured too quickly), Tyri (or Tyrygosa) and Jorad Mace are in Outlands. Tyri even mentions a certain blue dragon she was betrothed to. And Anveena's whereabouts are hinted in Silvermoon but not revealed. What I'd like to see most is the recently born twins of Rhonin and Vereesa.
yea lol. keep your shadoweave :)
ill drop 9 damage in exchange for 20 stam, 30 int, 1.2% crit and 1.5% hit tho. ty :=]
Wait...How did Archimonde get Rhonin's robes?
That was a long story involving an awkward situation and some R-Rated material. In other words: don't ask.
Care to shared the Uncut version on Youtube?
FOUND ON WOWHEAD. NOT MY IMAGE.
FOUND ON WOWHEAD. NOT MY IMAGE.
ugh that's hideous... did they have to display it in an orc? oO
This is the story of Robes of Rhonin:
Rhonin and Krasus(Big red dragon servant and husband of Alextrasa) went to Alterac Mtns where they found smthing like a blackhole and traveled through time to the time when the Legion broken in first. There they fought Archimonde and btw they found that an orc called Broxigar went with them and the book says he was the one who stopped Sargeras to get to our dimension but the book only says that Brox died his axe has been taken back to Thrall but there are no writing about Rhonin lost his clothes... this doesn,t contains logic but he ismy favourite character in R.A Knaak,s stories. I,m waiting for the WoTlK to meet him personaly...
As a Demo/Destro Shadow Bolter warlock these make me feel very warm and fuzzy inside. If I could get my hands on the full set I would take tier 6 over this because the sockets have the possibility to give that the edge (and it looks crazy awesome) but until you get down into the 4 piece bonus these robes still reign supreme. Makes me look forward to breaking into Hyjal soon.
That is a fantastic piece! Very nice to see.
What I would like to know is if anyone knows where npc Rhonin is? Fladstead is arie peaks, but where is rhonin? or is he anywhere at all?
I h<EDIT>ave put my talents but I still suck, why is that`? am I doing sumthin wrong? I have rouge but I cant out dps noobs? omg...
Just thought I'd post some item comparisons for locks aiming to have 4/5 T6 and are debating which piece should be the 5th (excluding Leggings of Channeled Elements):
ROBE OF THE MALEFIC+COWL OF THE ILLIDARI HIGH LORD:
VESTMENTS OF THE SEA WITCH+HOOD OF THE MALEFIC:
ROBES OF RHONIN+HOOD OF THE MALEFIC:
Above is with "smart gemming", meaning all socket bonuses were accounted for, and only crit/spell dmg gems were used (no +hit/dmg).
The clear choice would be to go with Vestments of the Sea-Witch, unfortunately for me, our guild no longer runs SSC :( Personally, I'll be going for option 3.
i heard Rhonin is gonna be the leader of The new Dalaran in the new expansion.
Why does Archimonde have Rhonin's clothing? O.O
