These are the best caster pants in-game to date. Leggings of the Tempest have a much bigger mana pool (and the T6 four-piece set bonus is haX), but when gemmed with epics, these pants have:
2.34% Spell crit
82 Spell damage
Leggings of the Tempest:
1.90% Spell crit
70 Spell damage
Even 12dmg scales better with shadow and flame , still 6dmg / 5 crit even 10 crit gems can be better then 12dmg. for dest spec. The important thing is balance of hit / crit / dmg / haste. Having the perfect balance gives the best dmg output, not putting blindly 12dmg gems because they scale better.
For that reason, we cant talk like "x is better then y" because it all depends the characters current stats.
These are possibly the best caster DPS legs in the game. The best choice of gems for any class would clearly be 12 spell damage gems regardless if you're a frost/fire mage, destro/afflication lock or shadow priest.
Probably the best Shadowpriest leggings as well. The amount of +dmg on those, 3x 12damage gems, hit and some spirit for extra dmg from spirit buff and mor regen especially in patch the buffed spirit regen from 15% to 30%.
I've been looking into how I want to socket these and as far as I can tell, based on looking at different DPS spreadsheets and what you can find on maxdps.com, there's almost no difference dps-wise between socketing 3 x runed crimson spinels or socketing the 2 x reckless pyrestone and 1 x glowing shadowsong amethyst.
The amount of dps gains given by each gem combination are really affected by your other gear. Basically, what I've found so far leads me to believe that, from a mage perspective, once you get over ~1200 dmg you should start socketing more for spell haste because it starts becoming a greater dps boost, until then, just stick with runed spinels unless the socket bonuses are really nice.
Very nice leggings, a couple of veiled noble topaz and a blue gem of choice will give these a good amount of extra damage and hit. Shame that these have as much spirit as they do, though.
Drop of Kaz'rogal, 3rd boss of Hyjal Summit.
These babies fall off of Kaz'rogal during the Battle of Mount Hyjal.
From the looks of it casters(mainly Mages/Locks)will be using/equiping/receiving them.

this is totally for my BOOMKIN
Spell damage might be the most important thing for an affli lock, but +spirit and +crit is not.
Not all locks are affliction you know...
Destruct-o-lock item, for sure. Worship the +crit with 200% damage proc.
Just so you all know, by the time any Warlock is at this stage in raiding that they actually have an opportunity to get these, the itemization for their gear will have changed so much that the crit is actually highly valued.
If you do some research, you'll see that Affliction becomes less and less attractive as the itemization of the current endgame gear becomes more and more apparent, 0/21/40 specs are better than heavy Affliction in current endgame.
afflictions better for like lower raids n stuff but 21/40 scales better. thats why your "kicking destro locks asses".
..you all fail
affliction warlocks do care about crit, not as much as say a mage.. but affliction warlocks still throw about 3 shadow bolts before they redo some dot rotations
its especially good for those 40/0/21 or 41/0/20 aff specs
wow so this item has
int stamina spirit 3 different sockets with socket bonus of +5spell(not +spirit) some spell hit + some spell crit and a bunch of +spell dmg (said to be the second or the best in the game......yet people are getting all pissed off at locks for saying that they want this item and they are deserving of it just as much as the rest of you...are you kidding me. You act as if it was plate or a mage 1/5 set piece or something so locks shouldn't roll. That is completely stupid of all those stats and effects... you say it has spirit so locks shouldn't have it. Spell hit rating is basicly made for affliction locks(not really but it helps a bunch) As for crit demo locks and destro locks use a bunch of crit. Affliction locks arn't completely void of crit ablities -seed of corruption, nightfall(affliction) gives instant shadow bolts and they will still use other spells.
i can't believe that it was said that druids and shamans can use this well but once everyone else decides they don't want it the lock can take it....cloth....for people who wear cloth..
First this item got spirit on it wich screams priest/mage I got a lock myself and I would prefer
over these in an endgame guild (other classes could benefit from this far better than a warlock)
Reroll.... obviously you have no idea how destruction works or havent heard what was said in the earlier posts, just because you are UA spec doesnt me other classes should have priority on this, oooh wow it has spirit so locks shouldnt have it, it also has crit rating which destruction locks need, just becuz we have life tap doesnt mean spirit doesnt assist us, this item is for Lock, priest, or mage, deal with it if anyone wants to Q_Q bout it then do it somewhere else cuz if u are u will never be on the level to bid dkp on it
by the way im a UA lock FYI
Locks have no need of spirit! we can just life tap! hmm right good idea life tap life tap life tap &*$@ing life tap all the way to 1hp :) we obviously have utterly no need for any stat which increases mana regen? or for that matter health regen allowing us to endlessly &*&^ing life tap, we are not all aff locks you know there are 3 talent trees for a reason you are allowed to choose a different spec to suit your style of play. Oh of course i forgot the amazingly high return of drain mana silly me and of course that works on any target? i can always use that inbetween my endless lifetapping! go reroll a lock and see just how much your healers appreciate you heavily using this ability when they have to divert all important heals from the mt to keep you alive while you are happily dpsing away. Rant over nice leggings! i like! :)
Lvl 70 destro lock (0/21/40)
You locks can wait for the Mother Sharhaz pants to drop.
These are probably the best Shadow Priest leggings in the game, unless you plan on getting the hood off Illidan and 4/5 T6.
No sense in giving them to someone who will just end up replacing them with T6. Think about your shadow priests people.
no crit on them (the mother shahraz ones i mean) just for info for others, spell hit 26 over 18 for these and damage and healing is 60, same sockets, 207 armor and +40 stamina +42 intellect. Overall V V nice! and yes as a lock would prefer over these even tho they are also very good until then if you can get, as a shadow priest friendly lock your welcome to these if you help get me the others :D.
lvl 70 lock, 30/0/31. im not going to pass on these to any class, period. if i can, i will bid for it, end of story. As for the mana regen, i dont like putting extra strain on the healers with life tap so i keep a nice supply of mana pots and rotate them out, unless we have a restro druid/shadow priest :D
Don't get distracted by the Spirit. These should go to ANY caster who has the DKP to get them. That means mages, warlocks, shadow priests, moonkin, elemental shamans (am I forgetting anyone?). These legs have something for everyone and it is stupid to bicker over what class benefits the most as they are simply the best legs for any caster, hands down.
These will hopefully drop this week and I guarantee you they are going to a mage first, they are substantially better than the mage t6. Go compare them with these:
if you don't believe me.
It's great the way @#$%^&s in thottbot refer to people as rolling on items like this. Chances are if you are downing Kaz'rogal, you aren't rolling on anything, you're going to be using dkp. So it's a matter for the individual guilds to work out how they distribute loot.
