This is a quintessential enhancement shaman/paladin axe. The fact that it has strength and spell stats makes it very nice for any melee class that throws around spell damage too. Shaman shocks and paladin seals/judges would get a nice boost from this, while the shaman/paladin still chops you up in melee.
And the fact that it's an axe makes a whole legion of orc shamans very happy I imagine.
Where does the quest start at?
Yes can anyone please tell me where this quest starts and from who ?
I know the quest is in Shadowmoon Valley.
But which NPC does this questline start with.
The whole chain (and it's a long one, don't be fooled) begins with the following quest:
You will need a group for many of the quests in the chain, but most of it is solo-able.
A very similar 2H axe quest reward is this one -
Easy choice between them on my shaman - keeping the big scary one around rather than the little pink one.
is this thing better then a then
for a ret paly?
Oathkeeper does better crits because the max damage on it dwarfs this axe no matter how you look at it. If you are lacking in crit and AP however, this axe may be a suitable substitute. Personally I would keep Oathkeeper if you already bought it. Also, if you're Retribution, or atleast use Seal of Command, Oathkeeper will benefit you a lot more because the base damage is way higher than this axe.
Looks awefull when u hit with it, holds in the middle under the blade... Thank god i was able to replace it fast with the Legacy.
Really nice stats tho, and such a easy quest =]
i have one of these as a female human paladin, and it's taller than I am...
oh and you get mobbed in SW by people wanting a look :P
Hmm... my Shaman is almost 67 right now, 30% into 68... and once I hit 68, I'm going to go on a quest to get this axe.
This is the ONLY two-handed axe which has spell damage on it.
I plan to pick up one of these weapons for PvP, pre-raid.
The Oathkeeper (
Warmaul of Infused Light (
Scepter of Sha'tar (
In terms of looks, the WoIL and SoS look nicer than The Oathkeeper; and the stats between The Oathkeeper and SoS are about equal, save for the small trade off between stats and spell damage.
On the WoIL, you could socket it to make it about 20 spell damage better than what it is with good gems (not crazy PvP gems that cost 23k honor, not worth it to get on a pre-raid blue, IMO) which will also make for a nice alternative.
I will do the calculations and put it up soon enough.
The Oathkeeper (70 Attack Power/480 Mana/240 Health/30 Spell Damage)
Warmaul of Infused Light (40 Attack Power/420 Mana/300 Health/23 Spell Damage/1% Crit)
Scepter of Sha'tar (62 Attack Power/390 Mana/ 280 Health/35 Spell Damage)
To be honest, it's a huge toss up. :
Just one more silly edit; I'd probably take The Oathkeeper and put a +35 Agi enchant on it or get the WoIL and put a Savagery enchant, since the Scepter of Sha'tar requires a little more work to get. But if my guild is comfortable with running heroic mana-tombs, then maybe I'll give it a shot.
This axe is nice, but it is not better than the Oathkeeper
why does pallas get theese insane items and warriors just tanking crap :'(
Personally, as for the Warmaul vs battleaxe vs oathkeeper discussion, warmaul is by far the better choice. However, i wouldn't put any spell damage gems in it, i'd fully stack the weapon with crit gems. For retro pallies, crit rating is your bread and butter. Melee crit chance affects your melee crits (obviously) AS WELL AS your seal of command crits, judgement of command crits, and obviously having vengeance at 3 charges as often as possible will far outweigh a little extra spell damage. Simply put, use this if there is nothing else you can get, and use it until you get the warmaul of infused light. Remember that just because the slots are red/yellow/blue does NOT mean that the gem you place in it *has* to be red/yellow/blue, the colors need only match if you really want the socket bonus, and 5 spell damage doesn't outweigh a potential +24 crit rating (which is just over another 1% at 70).
I'm pretty sure it helps that this axe is one of the coolest looking in the game. It has the exact same skin as the Gladiator's Decapitator, only green, and is significantly larger than it as well. Of course one is epic and hurts a lot more...
Looks cool and all, and has interesting stat distribution, but at 70, this is nothing more than eye candy/vendor trash.
As of the new patch 2.2, this axe is no longer larger than the Gladiator axe. Rather disappointing, however The green flame effect is still as ferocious as ever.
I could see an elemental shaman using this now that 2handers are usable without spending points (post patch 2.3). This is the only 2-hander out there with +spell critical, which is necessary for mana conservation on this spec. Enchanting with the +30 Int would round the stats out nicely. Casting flametongue, which adds 15% of spell dmg to melee, should make this hit pretty hard.
Stat changes on the current PTR:
As of patch 2.4 this does not have any spell damage on it anymore, making it functionally useless for shamans and anyone who is not a ret pally/fury warrior.
If I keep it at all, it will be only for the fact that it is a very cool looking weapon.
heh, orc hunter wearing it in the pic. that's alright though, i suppose i'll take this one as well (dwarf hunter). the bow looks nice, but (almost) any of the 70 instances drop better dps ranged weps.
They reduced the size of the axe.
I am seriously pissed of right now.
The one cool weapon you can get without destroying your social life and they ruin it.
F this game.
Raisin, an Org Warrior on the Undermine server has this. Only one with it though, could that mean something?
It looks fairly cool. It's a big, green, double sided axe with green flames around the blade.
I'm a lvl 70 warrior and I use this weapon, I have better ones but looks are more important then stats and this is the best looking weapon I've ever seen.
Can't believe how many tells I get about how awesome my axe is.
Where does this thing drop? Or if its a quest reward, what quest?
its a lvl 70 quest in shadowmoon vally
instead of this, its costlier but better. But this looks AWESOME!
I got this from completing 'Cipher of Damnation'. Stuck +30 Intellect on it and much pally power ftw! lol
Oh yeah, as I have +30 Int instead of Fiery Weapon or whatever, it keeps it's lovely green glow too!
230 - 346伤害
