Drops from Supremus in Black Temple.
This item is stronger than Tier 6 for feral druids, due to the spread stats and of course wonderful sockets.
I'm surprised not to see lots of rogue comments on this. It's arguably one of the best rogue chest pieces in the game (pre Sunwell - who knows what that will bring).
While the Midnight Chestguard is a bit better and the Tier 6 chest is even better, Archimonde and Illidan are a fair bit tougher than Supremus.
A fantastic chest for rogues with good gem slots.
Slot colors are irrelevant because socket bonuses generally aren't worth color coordinating for (though 8 AP is nice and certainly worth socketing for if you need to meet meta requirements, or even if you're not, so consider this an exception to the rule), and you're going to be using mostly Glinting Pyrestone/Glinting Noble Topaz and Delicate Crimson Spinel/Delicate Living Ruby in your sockets anyways. (You will need 2 Shadowsong Amethyst/Shifting Nightseye to meet the meta gem requirement for Relentless Earthstorm Diamond, of course.)
I don't care about the gem slots. I have this socketed with 2 DCS and 1 GP.
This is one of the best DPS chest pieces in the game for both Rogues and Feral Druids alike. Definitely it is superior for Feral Druids to Midnight Chestguard (Agility over crit rating). It is superior to the new Badge reward chest for the extra two sockets, and until you're juggling obtaining both 2 pieces of Tier 4 and 2 pieces of Tier 6 for the set bonuses, this is pretty much your best in slot.
Once you're juggling the 2-piece bonuses, you'll stand a good chance of using either T-Heart or Malorne chests instead of this. Pound for pound, this is a better piece, but that ignores set bonuses, both of which are extremely powerful and yield, over time, a greater increase in DPS than the superior stats of Nether Shadow Tunic.
I believe with the right gems this chest can beat the new badge item chest piece for rogues, a 10 hit rating yellow, 5hit5agi red, 10ap blue is a nice combo to put in this chest piece.
To be perfectly honest, you would only bother with a purple gem in the blue socket if you care about the socket bonus and need one for your meta requirement. Let's assume you have your meta requirement fulfilled though. Also, let's assume we are working with rare quality gems, as they are more accessible (and some people might want to hold off on using epic gems until they have T6 armor pieces).
Comparing the Nether Shadow Tunic to the Tunic of the Dark Hour, the Nether Shadow Tunic has:
+1 Hit Rating
-16 Attack Power
+2 gem sockets.
Now, if you look at those numbers, it's easy to see how you can make the Nether Shadow Tunic resemble the Tunic of the Dark Hour almost exactly. Throw a Delicate Living Ruby and Bright Living Ruby into those two extra gem sockets (assuming you use the same gem in the last socket as whatever you use in the Tunic of the Dark Hour's single socket), and you have literally negated the negatives, resulting in the Nether Shadow Tunic having exactly +1 Stamina and +1 Hit Rating over the Tunic of the Dark Hour.
But, but, but... that's not really the best way to maximize your DPS, is it? For rogues (I'm only writing this from the perspective of a raiding combat-specced rogue), it would be much better to socket for Hit Rating unless already capped. So, if you aren't already hit capped AND you are ignoring the socket bonus here, essentially what the Nether Shadow Tunic does that makes it better than the Tunic of the Dark Hour is give you the flexibility of trading 8 Agility and 16 raw Attack Power for Hit Rating instead (or whatever stat you want to stack with gems). Couple that with the fact that, if you want, you can socket for the bonus while helping to meet a meta requirement (and it's not a bad one, really -- you could do worse than +8 Attack Power; for example, +3 Stamina on the Tunic of the Dark Hour), and the Nether Shadow Tunic really shines. If you are willing to use epic gems, it shines even more!
In conclusion, I think the Nether Shadow Tunic affords you a lot more flexibility (along with a much better reward if you opt to use it in meeting your meta requirement), and that is what makes it a better piece of gear than the Tunic of the Dark Hour. It will assuredly be favored by those players who are obsessed with min/max-ing every stat and are willing to invest in the gems to make this piece an upgrade instead of the sidegrade that less hardcore players might view it as. So if you can't afford three gems for the Nether Shadow Tunic, or just don't mind the Agility and Attack Power that comes standard on the Tunic of the Dark Hour, pass on this when it drops -- there's a good chance someone in your raid will thank you!
Wow , sweet chestpiece :)
This is a very good rogue chestpiece, primarily for dps and PvE content. It is a drop from Supremus in Black Temple.
Excellent tunic - stam, agility, hit rating and attack power. A real pants-creamer. And, good gem slots too!
any screenshots of this by chance? im curiuos to see if it matches with malefic mask.
good stam and agi would like to have for my rogue
supposedly the most common drop off supremus, too bad not many get to fight him yet alone get this awesome tunic.
Sockets for +10 agility: check
This is now officially on my cat-gear wishlist for BT once we've downed Kael.
i thought cats benefit more from str than agi for dps
in cat form, str gives pure attk pwr. agi gives crit, attk pwr, and armor... clearly a better choice for kitty druids
a kitty druid will never raid bt though
drops form Supremus Level 73 Boss in black temple..(2nd boss i think).
as a druid feral was so glad to have it second time it dropped ,(passed first for a rogue for my roll main roll in the raid is mostly Tank).. and was so happy to getnow.
it got 6+stats enchant on it and
1 .8 agiliy :red
1 .8 crit :yellow
but 3x8 agility gems will be nice if you got less than 40% crit in cat unpuffed.
....(above gems depends on what stats you have in gerneal and what you need to improve).
this was big upgrade to my dps as kitty in raid ,now i can happyly pass on the midnight chest form arhimonde ,or wait till it is cheaper in DKP.
and yes this rogue first loot then druids (iam cat/bear my self).
but after all dps cat is not all about just gears ,,it si what ablilities to use and when..
like: mangle> shred> shred> (4-5 combo)then rip =more damage .
ps :do not waste your enrgy and use wise ,and watch the enery tick (get enrgy wacth addons).
