Acquired from one of the quests in the Druid Epic Flight Form questline.
So maybe someone can clarify. Tree of life form does 25% of casters spirit extra to the +healing of the party. Now does this idol add an extra 20% or use the original 25% then add 20 points more +healing to the party?
A few patches ago didn't they removed crits from LoTP and other healing aura like Vampiric Embrace?
tbh this idol sux in almost every aspect.
for a moonkin it's better to have the starfire, regardless of the little + crit% this adds.
for a bear, Brutality is better.
and for a resto, Emerald Queen is better, since Lifebloom is the most mana effecient heal druids have.
imo blizzard should've made 3 idols where you could choose one.
As of 2.3, it is still not adding healing for Tree of Life. (19-Nov-2007)
hmm, well, if it works like normal +healing. It won't give +20 to each tick with hots.
It will give 20 to the whole healing dot, which won't be much more per tick since it's only 20.
Or am I on the wrong path ? :P
Not bad, not bad
Nobody seems to have mentioned this, but if you have two druids of the same type (two LotP, two moonkin or two ToL) where one is wearing this idol and the other doesn't, the two auras stack, giving the group a total of +10% crit and 9 crit rating, etc.
Getting a full extra aura seems like it would be worth having one person not use their standard per-move idols, even if they knew how to make use of more than one.
Im a resto druid and i just got this Idol, its not the best for one certin heal but it does good for all my heals.... even if its only a little bit. At lv 70 your looking for any little step to be better at your class then other players even if its 2-5 heals per tick. I use to have the idol of the queen for lifebloom and yes it did "weaken" my life bloom a little but it raised every other HOT and regrowth, and Healing touch. so for thoes who just think stacking Lifebloom will keep the MT alive sure its stronger but for the whole party/raid you will be better off with the idol of the raven god. IMO i would use the Idol of the queen for arenas and idol of the raven god for instances and raids. (you will notice a diffrence in the long run, besides your a druid your suppose to look at the long run hence the use of all thoes HOT's)
Just checked this on PTR. Buffed to 44 healing and 20 crit rating
I cannot comment on whether the added benefits of the crit rating are worth it, but I can definitely say that for any Tree druid in a MT group, this buff is incredible.
I already used to use this idol in the MT group back when it was just 20 extra healing to the aura. Getting more than double that added in will make my aura worth about 240 extra healing on the tanks (780 spirit fully raid buffed), which is huge!
tree of life bug is being fixed in patch 2.4, being tested on PTR.
now actually helps. It's aura is now 44 and i'm around 1350 bonus healing and when I lifebloom and take it off, theres about 4-5 tick difference.
Pretty much the only Idol a Feral Druid should be using in a raid once gear has scaled well into T6 quality. The DPS increase the extra crit provides outweighs the damage loss on Shred by forgoing Everbloom.
If I'm healing as a tree using this, and theres a feral druid with in my group also, will this buff their aura too? kinda reads like it would but not quite sure.
Looking at this idol from a healing perspective to evaluate it's worth in a raid, the obvious comparison point is the
Idol of the Emerald Queen
, the uncontested best druid healing item.
The power of the IotEQ is that it's bonus of 88 healing to Lifebloom is tripled by the stacking nature of lifebloom. The math that follows assumes the spell power coefficient of the Lifebloom HoT is 0.52, 0.62 talented, as reported
Healing Gained from IotEQ = 0.62*88 = 54.56
Healing per second gained from IotEQ = (0.62*88*3)/7 = 23.38
In order for the Idol of the Raven Goddess to pass this, it has to increase healing received per second by the druids heal target by 19.6. This is impossible if the druid is not in a group with targets that will be healed very frequently. Interesting to note, however, is that the druid does not actually have to be healing the main tank, just be placed in the main tanks group and stand 45 yards or fewer away from the main tank for the IotRG to shine.
Healing gained from IotRG = 44*C
where C is the coefficient of the healing spell cast
Healing per second gained from IotRG = 44*C*# of healing spells cast on the target per second.
If we assume every heal cast on the main tank has an abysmal coefficient of 0.43 (FoL, FH, LWH), this becomes
44*0.43*hsps (healing spells per second = 18.92*hsps
And in order for IotRG to surpass the IotEQ, this must be a greater Hps boost to the main tank.
18.92*hsps > 23.38
Go go gadget long division and
hsps > 1.24
there only needs to be 1.24 healing spells cast per second (or 1 healing spell landing every 0.8 seconds) on the main tank for IotRG to pass IotEQ. 2 Paladins casting FoL land 1.33 casts per second.
So if you're a druid in ToL form, in the Main tanks group, and there are 2 or more healers healing that tank for a majority of the fight, this idol is better.
The druid must stay in tree form for the IotRG to have any effect at all. High mobility fights seem to favor a different idol.
Altered LB coefficient to take Empowered Rejuvenation into account.
Some reasoning. The stacking HoT nature of Lifebloom ends up counting against it in the comparison against IotRG. Taking 7 seconds to dole out the extra healing lets spam heals on one target catch up all too easily.
The downside of IotRG? Costs 5000g, as others have noted. Go farm Shadow Labyrinth.
One more post to point out that, as a buff even for a tank group, Druid Tree of Life Aura isn't that great. Elitist Jerks math has proven several different ways that Devotion Aura is almost always superior. I believe the numbers were for a druid stacking 900 spirit, ToL still falls short of Improved Devotion Aura (+40% devotion aura armor).
The choice between having a Paladin in the tank group for Devotion Aura and a Druid for ToL is won by the Paladin every time. The exceptions are for bosses that inflict over 25% damage that is not reduced by armor (bleeds and magic damage). This is a very short list with Hydross the Unstable at the top. There was discussion of some armor set bonus that increased devotion aura armor and tipped the scales in the paladins favor even more, but I can't find what that buff is.
So for numbers sake, having a druid with this idol equipped is equivalent to adding 176 spirit to the Tree of Life Aura. Even if this makes it so your tank will be healed for more EXTRA healing that WON'T be lost to overhealing, the Devotion Aura prevents tank damage. This really can't be beat because landing a heal for 200 more healing won't save the tank if he's already dead. Preventing even 2% (average number for improved devotion aura) of a swings damage might save the tank from burst death.
So: Skip this idol if you aren't going to be in the tank group. Don't INSIST on being put in the tank group even if you have this idol. Improved Devotion, Shaman Grace of Air totem and sometimes even Warlock Imp Bloop Pact (+70 stam, +91 talented) can be superior buffs. If you have 1 tank main tank for a long encounter with trivial adds, by all means stack it 1)Tank, 2)Paly for Devo, 3)Shaman for GoA, 4) Warlock for Imp Buff, 5) Druid for ToL.
One thing in ToL's favor is that most warlocks seem to be running demonic sacrifice and demanding to be in the boomkin/elemental shamans group. Affliction for life, screw shadowmages.
Edit: I'm happy to say that the issue of tank group stacking is pretty much moot in 3.0. Also, the healing side of this idol appears to be bugged and not contributing anything.
I just finished my epic flight form questline and received this relic. What I'm trying to figure out is if it's a better benifit to have this or Harold's Rejuvenating Broach (Increases healing done by Rejuvenation by up to 86.) I'm a raid tree, 61 resto who spends most of my time casting rejuv, lifebloom, and regrowth. This Idol only affects those in my party - I'm usually in the dps Karazhan party, not MT party, and we'll be starting 25 mans soon. So is it worth losing the 86 bonus healing to rejuv which affects everyone I heal, and gaining an increase of my party's healing aura by 20 for any healing they receive by myself or any other healers?
This nice little Idol is Acquired from the Epic Druid questline For Swift Flight form, You need 300 Riding skill (the one that costs 5000g) to even GET the quests.
coo. for purpose of a raid this would be the choice. I just wanted to know which for arena the faster i can burst some 1 down the better. people keep running around so shred isnt always a option but mangle malm and bite are i was thinking that this would be the better choice for arena as well seeing that getting in position for shred isnt easy
This idol's also neat in that if you choose to respec, it'll likely help you with whatever your new chosen spec is, unless you don't go deep enough for a new form (I.E. the resto/balance build that skips tree of life)
Hmm... I'm a Tree of Life spec druid and I was wondering if this is worth losing Idol of the Emerald Queen... The idol in SCC is hardly useful for me and the one in Kara is not useful basicaly ever, so its this or Emerald Queen, 88 heal on Lifebloom is amazing since its basicaly the spell I most use to heal, it adds like 7 extra healing a tick fora total of 7 ticks being 49 extra heal and 49 times each stack its more than 200heal it does than if I were to use anything else, although this idol caught my eye 20 extra heal taken by everyone in my group in raids would be useful so the other healers can have easyier time but then... if its 20 heal each Lifebloom stack it would be 60 extra rather than 200 so, I woud apreciate very muchifanyone would give me lil info or maybe personal testing results. =]
Just got this tonight for my moonkin, and I’m really disappointed. + 9 is really lame. I think any pve group would rather have +55 SF, and any pvp scenario would be better off with the wrath or MF idols. Let’s make it 9% blizz and throw some love to this fat owl.
2% would be cool, but still OP... thats like 40 spell crit rating, but if i had a moonkin, i'd want them in my party for healing (holy pally). +7% would be SWEEEEEET
I assume if you'd even consider this, you're doing so for raiding and not pvp, but at a certain point spell crit chance is just monotonous. Spell hit, spell damage become more important once you hit a healthy amount of crit. ....which is what the
moonkin aura (110.5 crit rating/5% crit chance) helps achieve. for you and any other crit-happy class the aura is enough,
and an additional
won't help anyone who is gearing themselves appropriately.
Don't use this idol to help your team. Help your team by bringing some dps to the table. (From the PoV of a battle turkey)
Imo, the most useful thing this idol could give is the 2g50s90c you get when you vendor it. There are way better idols available for all three types of druids.
Idol of Terror
Idol of the Emerald Queen
Vengeful Gladiator's Idol of Tenacity
for Resto, and
Idol of the Unseen Moon
for Balance druids. Best part is, all the idols I just mentioned are surprisingly easy to obtain.
Since this idol increases all of the 41-point druid talents, it has the most applications, but you can only use 1/3 of the effectiveness at one time. For that reason, I figure it's better to use the specialized idols instead, maximizing the effect of the current role you're filling.
Auras that have different values tend to stack, for example, different ferocious inspiration ranks, or tree of life auras.
I'm seeing a change in moonkin aura's crit chance in this idol...
omg people read the bennifits more critt in feral or more critt in moonkin or more heal in tree
they're more than doubling this trinket's bonuses in the next patch... people who vendored it will be sorry :(
that said, I would still only use it if I'm in a group with a lot of melee as feral or a lot of magic as moonkin. probably not worth it unless at least like 3+ people benefit.
For druid perspective :
If you're restoration : you're still stuck with Idol from Shadow Lab
But if you're feral in restroration druid's group you should use this idol for benefits of your raid.
