I would personally say Tier 5 IS better but just by a small amount. Tier 5 for me is still a ways off though so this will be a great addition to my equiptment until then. things are sick
Comparing these Goggles to Deathmantle Helm, they give:
+8 hit rating
+4 attack power
-20 crit rating
+1 blue socket
-1 red socket
plus of course these give increased stealth detection, the arcane vortex detection, and the farsight ability.
Definitely very competitive despite the lower ilvl.
Total mats to make these:
6 Heavy Knothide Leather
6 Khorium Ore
1 Primal Fire
120 Adamantite Ore
32 Fel Iron Ore
16 Eternium Ore
2 Living Rubies
Not too horrible for a quality epic.
Anyone know how the recipe will be obtained?.. once 2.1 hits us I mean.
so it's 350 to wear what lvl to make?
What makes these goggles to be so "good" ? These dont give any crit, only +4 with gems, and just tiny 66AP? old engineer glasses gave 28crit rating, and 100AP? is that agi + sockets really that good?
Bought all the mats on Vek'nilash for about 250g... just waiting on the patch now :)
Upgraded in the latest PTR to
Primal Nether was added to the reagents. This is a huge nerf as far as material cost goes (and means these goggles are no longer equipable by level 50 characters).
Trollslayer, if you are looking for a good agility helm there is the cobrascale hood that has about the same agility and isn't too bad to craft. It is leather but you would be able to wear that. : )
:( one thing which is actually useful in engi (& worth of leveling the prof which does nothing but eat your money) had to be f*cked >.<
I would live with nerfed stats, but primal nether... gg
Any one has ideas about how much stealth detection Increases while wearing this?
The Night Watchman is 10, Catseye ultra goggles is 18
Says that they require 350 skill to use but doenst say what skill level you learn them at, anyone know?
I was looking forward to using this with 2/2 Hightened Senses to become à real "Rogue Radar" but in fact the stealth detection bonus on this one quite sucks compared to other items, as does Higtened Senses wich kinda makes me sad in the end, not sure if it's worth it at all... :(
Higtened Senses 2/2 : 6 Stealth detection Value
Deathblow X11 Goggles : 5
Total of 11... :/
Catseye Ultra Goggles : 18
Ultra-Vision Goggles : 30 (Activated)
The Night Watchman : 10
Felhunter Paranoia : 30
Human Perception : 50
If you are horde, you can learn in Thrallmar from the Grand Master gnome. The goggles require 350 Engineering as previously posted. This has been proven on live server not PTR.
With the right gems and enchant from CE you can reach a whopping
DEATHBLOW X11 GOGGLES
186 at pwr
27 hit rating
This is with 1x Shifting Nighseye (4agi 6 stam) Swift Windfire Diamond (20 att pwr + minor run speed)
. And head enchant from CE (34 att pwr + 16 hit rating)
-removed because of misstargeting-
Last time I checked, heroics are for lvl 70, so the only way u can get Nether is through 5% drop from final Bosses in BC/CoT instances. GL getting your guildies to run you ....
to get Master Engineering u need lvl 60
Druid engineers may want to think about making 2 of these for themself, these are awesome goggles for both tanking and dps with the right gems/enchants. In fact my Druid is going to drop skinning for engineering after he finishes making his Primalstrike set just for these goggles, they're just to cool to pass up and I got loads of cash to buy ore and gems with to powerlevel up to 350 no problem.
How much money im going to spend if i want to level up engineer since 0 to 350?, thx for the answers.
Blizzard's way of saying sorry to everyone who took Engineering as a profession. The stat bonuses are amazing and for some of us, this might be the last helm they'll ever have equipped for their Rogue.
The only thing I wish for was a slightly higher hit rating along with a bigger bonus to stealth detection. But considering the 2 most difficult components of this are the 2 Living Rubies (obtained either through Mining or can be purchased for approximately 50 g on the AH) and the Primal Nether (lucky drop in a Level 70 instance, or being able to successfully run a Heroic Instance and winning the roll) it's not bad for the value.
the price for these using wowhead prices (excluding the nether) would be around 189 gold, this is assuming you bought the mats from the vendors. for my server (Area 52) it would cost roughly 237 gold, not to bad if u are 350 engineering and dont have access to deathmantle soon then go ahead and get this, worth it and not to bad to get mats
(btw i have full mats for these as a 68 rogue, just need nether) took me about 2 days to get mats, because i couldnt get the knothide :p)
This is one of the best, if not the best, druid tanking helm(s) in the game. It is better at least, then t4 and t5, and if you can get the other 4 pieces for the set bonus then it is definately worth hanging onto this insanely sexy helmet.
The same go for the leather healing and leather spelldamage helms, they're very good compared to anything else attainable from instances until Black Temple.
Druids: Engineering and Leatherworking (tribal or elemental) for the win.
lol. one day i decided i had wasted too much cash on bsing for no reason.. so i dropped it and power leveled to 350 engineerin in one day to get these... then did i realise u need a primal nether :P so now im poor and without goggles (cost me about 630g for 350 engineerin). lol. just have to hope i get super lucky and get the drop... dont make my mistake - make sure u can actually get the mats before u blow all your cash :P
You're not gonna be able to get your nether unless you run level 70 instances or heroics. So whatever the minimum level for getting into stuff like SL is. And you have to keep running it with a lowbie in your group until you hit that 5% droprate.
You might get lucky and make it at 69.
kind of funny how these are better than t4 for raid dps yet it has a pvp property of stealth detection
Im a feral druid here and I ask... is it worth it to drop Enchanting 352 currently, and go get Engineering for these?
I am a 375 miner, so I can mine all the crap that is needed for levelling Engineering... But if I dropped Mining instead, then I suspect that levelling it would be a bit harder.
Can lvl29 twinks use this if have 350 engineering?
i have rogue 63 lvl and i can enter Hellfire Ramparts (Heroic)! You can put your 70lvl friends to it with you and get Primal Nether. so it possible to craft this goggles before you reach 70 lvl
With heightened senses 2/2 and these, you can see a rogue with 5/5 MOD about ten feet away
In 2.4 you can upgrade these to Quad Deathblow X44 Goggles.
As of 2.4 you should be able to wear these at lvl 50, which should be way OP for leveling.
The Primal Nether will be bought in the AH and the Schematic is trained.
Can you build this as a hunter if you decided to NOT learn mail wearing?
Added level req of 62 in patch 2.4.
Got mine at level 62, they sure are worth it up to 70.
Worth it only up to level 70?
Unless you're raiding some of the better raids, you won't find a better DPS helm for PvE, these are T4/5 equivilent and have more agil than T6, not including the socket bonus.
I chose engineering just for this helm as it's like wearing T6 at level 62, proper imba.
I just made these at lvl 60 for my rogue to use at 62. While I won't go into the particulars of the goggles themselves, I will mention the gem selection. Someone suggested a Swift Skyfire Diamond, while someone else suggested a Relentless Earthstorm Diamond.
People need to remember that these are available at lvl 62, and there are not many gear options that can accomodate the meta gem requirements of those two listed above. The Swift Skyfire needs two yellow and one red gem, while the Relentless Earthstorm needs two gems of each three colors. All that while possibly having only one blue socket to work with on the goggles.
My thoughts would be to use an Enigmatic Skyfire Diamond (+12 Crit Strike Rating & 5% Snare and Root Resist) along with a Shifting Nightseye (+4 Agility and +6 Stamina). You have a meta with the requirement of "more Red gems than Yellow gems" using a purple gem in a blue socket.
I feel this is the best overall solution for a lvl 62 with limited socket options.
What gems should i take to this?
anyone know where you learn to make these?
I learned it from the guy in netherstorm but it's not appearing on my list...along with half the other stuff he taught me, anyone care to help?
The engineering trainer has nothing for me to learn at 375... Am I missing the trainer for these?
I have made these already...wicked badass. Cost me around 700 gold for mats, gem, and head enchant from CE. Now to just get my meta gem...
Damn, these are nice, and the mats aren't too bad either. I guess these are the new goggles everyone was talking about.. gotta get me a pair :p
A twink rogue website says you can get these at 59... But is there a way to get the nether?
What the heck does seeing the gas clouds do? I dont see a real use or ability to interact with them.
First! Pic of the gnome warrior is mine.
Stealth detection is only half as effective as The Night Watchman, but it gives you the added bonus of seeing as far as with an Ornate Spyglass. It also allows you to see the ghosts in SMV, like the "Second Sight" helms, if Thottbot is accurate in its claims.
67 more armor than The Night Watchman helm, it also has an extra
3 agil (and another 4 with socket bonus)
8 attack power
11 hit rating
a META (!) socket
and a lovely blue socket for your favorite stamina gem.
I guess this will be mine after I max out on Blacksmithing. :) Happy hunting!
they're 350 to use and make.
Just started my career as an Engineer for this one..
The best hat for feral druids for dps (that is seen so far).
with the right gems it will outdamage the tier4 hat.
For a Rogue, these goggles are better than the Mask of the Deceiver and the Tier 4 head gear. And after comparing them to the Tier 5 head gear, I would say they are almost on par.
I suggest any Rogue out there with 375 mining to farm for the mining supplies required to get from 1-350 engineering and then drop mining for engineering when done. It only took me a couple days to farm for all the mining supplies I needed, and the only amount of gold I had to spend for the rest of the supplies was around 100g. I can assure you that it is much quicker/easier than farming for 50 badges of justice to trade in for a helm that is inferior.
Can be learnt from the trainer at 350 engineering.
As a druid I could only learn the leather goggles; cloth mail and plate were not availble to train.
Going to say this once for all the noobs who don't read mats.. YOU NEED A PRIMAL NETHER! You are not going to get one for your 'twink' so STOP ASKING!
just got these on my >69< Rogue and they're sweet... If you want these Pre-70, you have to instance for the Primal Nether; mine dropped of the last boss in Shadow Labs so, yeah.
The Felsteel is easy to get as if you have mining and get the fel iron on you're own, you're bound to find eternium ore, and for the adamantite, I grinded ogres in the southern cleft in Nagrand, which also got me a lot of rep for the Consortium (9k) and over 20 stacks of netherweave. Even got a JC recipe I sold for 150g and Noble Topaz's, so have fun with that.
For Khorium, you'll be lucky to find some while you're grinding ore, but id you don't, it doesn't go for too much on some servers and sometimes you can find very good deals on AH.
The Gems for this recipe cost me though, 55g each, but should be affordable if you really grind.
Necromantic 69 Rogue, Garona
Do these beat the Helm of Assasination? I mean like is it worth not having full set of the assasination bonus for these goggles? They look tight, considering I'm a girl and I love pink. LOL.
*Sigh* they are BOP.. you need a primal nether to make it.
You do not have to be lvl 70 to get these goggles. Just have to have your engineering skill high enough. And i do know you need a prmal nether... One dropped for me in Regular SV... but one hasnt dropped since so i guess its a pretty rare drop idk... Just informing everyone

Im pretty sure this accurate, maybe a mistake here or there
Actually this item is better for rogues as the T4 head (for max-dps it is) It has 3hit rating less, and a red socket is better then a blue thats true, but the +20 agi makes up for it!
So to all rogues out there, KEEP THIS and let other classes get T4!
you can upgrade these to Quad Deathblow X44 Goggles
Binds when picked up
Socket Bonus: +4 Agility
Durability 70 / 70
Requires Level 70
Requires Engineering (350)

Equip: Shows the location of all nearby gas clouds on the minimap.
Equip: Slightly increases your stealth detection.
Use: Allows you to look far into the distance.
Cooldown: 3 sec

Item Level 159
I just got this item today after ditching 375 skinning for engineering. I have to say, it was well worth it. But on my server, the mats cost a bomb! And the living rubies were very hard to get.
where i can get plans for theese googles?
i have engineer 375 but i cant make it
FYI you CAN get this as a twink. Just not a 19 twink. These are available as soon as you can get keyed for a heroic (which is now only honored).
This can easily be done at 58. Just jump into any instance, die, and have your, hopefully level 70, friends own the mobs. You get no experience and still get reputation with whoever the instance gives you rep for. You can easily hit honored and thusly keyed for a heroic. Heroics only require the same level as the regular instances, just that you are keyed (which I believe is level 58 anwyay) and not level 70. Afterward, just clear the heroic as you normally word but at the end, swap in your level 58, and have your friends kill the boss.
For example, you could make your character, level him/her to 58 and go to outlands. Form a group with your best geared friends and run ramparts. You run in and die (preferably naked for no repair costs) and don't release spirit. Let your friends do a few pulls and then walk back or take a rez since when they get too far away, you stop recieving rep. Rinse and repeat as desired. Doing this, theoretically, you can get exalted with every faction there is an instance for, and still be level 58. It would just take a long time. =D
Therefore, you CAN get a primal nether, it would just take some work. I have two friends in the top guild on our server's faction. One made a resto shaman and the other made a combat rogue. Ouchies.
The trainer for the goggles is in Honor Hold, nxt to the entrance of the castle.
For some goggles if depends on your class and specs (healer ect ect)
I leared Engineering yesterday and now I can craft those google, but I had to spend like a thousand gold on it - auch! - but now I just need another (I don't wanna talk about it) g to make those google + some more Badge of Justice to buy Primal Nether
As of the 2.4 Patch you can now get the Primal Nether from the AH, no more BOP, lvl 67 rouge hates instances and loves these goggles, ty 2.4 Patch
These goggles are the best head piece I've ever had, they let me see anyone who's stealthed with the alchemy pots, plus the ability to see far into the distance.. I applaud on these goggles.
Many twinks probly got sad when this 2.4 patch came. Before the patch when it didn't have a Require lvl, u were able to have it at 59, yea it was. it was tricky but u were able. To get the nether was only to get Honored with Honor Hold or the horde faction. Buy the Key from vendor (9g) and ge a premaded grp to do it, 4 nice player to do heroic BF/ramps. None of the heroics has a req lvl to enter, it only the key so u got able to get it after blizzard changed that u pnly need to be honored for key.
Some probly will say that this is bull&*!@ but i don't care :)i got this at lvl 61 on my rogue, was hawt and nice :D. DAMN YOU BLIZZARD!
small edit since i didnt have anything to do. :p
375 engineering = level 50
Nether = lvl 55 (was until this patchzor)
and btw, ENGINEERING RULES.
Get eots flag faster than anyone else, get Parachute Cloak + Xtreme Rocke boots. be rdy to run and fly, when parachute cloaks use ends, u have allready flied to the flag. Sweet :D
Ignore the bit about stealth detection. It's dog%^&*.. doesn't make any difference.
The Night Watchman helm OR Gnomish Power Goggles ?
Just got these lovely things on my 62 rogue!
one happy player
what trainer do you get this from on the horde side?
May I ask if a plate OR mail engineer user can craft the leather version of those googles?
It appears the goggles are bugged. The only way i can equip them is if i am on a flying mount, otherwise they unequip into my inventory when on a ground mount or on foot. Really annoying, considering it is rogue BIS.
