Seeing as how the hearts of darkness drop in Black Temple, there are much better raiding items available to healers. The 28 spellhaste rating would give you 2.67% increased casting speed or 2 milliseconds off the cast time of a 3 second spell. Imo this is not worth it as a general-purpose pve healing item however it may be useful for fights that require stamina or for pvp healing.
I'm not sure why Blizzard are introducing Spell Haste to healing items, but my first thought is that I'd rather have Mp5 or Spirit.
If I stack Haste Rating, I'm able to heal slightly faster, but I'm also spending mana faster. Does anyone know any other rationale for Spell Haste?
Faster healing = more HP/S and less dead tanks.
For those who say this is a small difference, look at the difference of 60 +heal and tell me it's a big difference. All item upgrades are small differences it's all a matter of what's smaller and what's bigger so you choose the best and eventually the small things add up to a better healer.
After spell haste nerf it should be 1/2 the cast speed increase afaik so ~1.33% increase in cast speed, but to increase your HP/s by the same amount with +healing you'll need quite a bit. Of course this doesn't add efficiency so you have to take that into account as well, but remember a healer needs good HP/s too not just very efficient heals.
Once you stack a few items with spell haste combined with stopcasting macros used with Quartz, you will notice your heals are hitting faster.
Along with proper mangement of the five second rule, you could end up with more mana than if you just had more mp5 on your item. Certainly this item is not for every healer, but some people will love it.
Spell haste is getting buffed in patch 2.2 from 21 to 15.7 Spell Haste rating = 1% cast time reduction at Level 70.
2.1 = 1.333...% reduction in cast time @ 70
2.2 = 1.78% reduction in ast time @ 70.
The lack of MP5 on this item stinks, but the decrease in time spent casting a heal = more time in the MP5 zone, The question then becomes How much longer can you stay out of the Five Second rule with spell haste. Also remember that five second rule doesn't go into effect until the spell is actually casted so its also reducing the five second rule based on the speed of the cast. All in All this is a great healer piece would be better with spirit or mp5 instead of the Haste IMO, maybe when we get more Haste items to combine it with, then again most haste items right now have lack of valuable stats. just make sure you have a good combo of both.
BOE item from a BOP pattern from BT and MT Hyjal
I'm a bit suprised how simple the mats are on most the craftable pieces from BT. Assuming Hearts of Darkness aren't super-rare drops, it shouldn't take much time at all to get a pair of these for all your raid healers.
Problem with the heart of darkness is that most (if not every) guild will save them up for the Shadow ressistance gear required for Mother Shahraz. It will take quite some time to gear up the whole raid with it so don't expect to get these bracers soon :-)
where does this pattern drop? anyone seen it?
i agree w/ timat... very simple mats compared to what the pre-bc mats were for great gear!
