Hearts of Darkness can be found in the Black Temple. They are the equivalent of Fiery Cores in Molten Core.
I really hope this doesnt look like the Arcanist recolor.. like everyone else caster oriented in tbc does..
38 Spell Haste = 1.81% reduction in cast time at Level 70.
This removes 0.054 seconds off of an Improved Fireball's cast time.
The pattern for this is BoE, but crafts a BoP piece of gear.
(Bracers of Nimble Thought)
Spell haste is getting buffed in patch 2.2 from 21 to 15.7 Spell Haste rating = 1% cast time reduction at Level 70.
2.1 = 1.81% reduction in cast time at Level 70.
2.2 = 2.42% reduction in cast time at Level 70.
The mats are inexpensive enough, and the pattern CAN drop early enough in BT progression, where this is HIGHLY attractive to any cloth caster DPS.
Alone, this isn't a massive upgrade from most Tier 5, and actually a downgrade from Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders.
However, in combination with other items possessing passive spell haste (
), one could potentially have 98 haste (approximately 6.24%).
Since they are just BoP, and have no requirement to be a tailor, you should be able to craft these shoulders, then drop tailoring, and still be able to use them.
A slightly downgraded version of this piece for non-tailors drops from the 1st timed chest in ZA.
For shadow priests:
A rough rule of thumb to use is as follows:
At 1000 damage, 1 haste = 0.6 damage.
At 1200 damage, 1 haste = 0.8 damage.
At 1400 damage, 1 haste = 1 damage.
At 1600 damage, 1 haste = 1.2 damage.
At 1800 damage, 1 haste = 1.4 damage.
This is from
Depending on the rest of your gear, the haste on these could add up to alot.
Putting this as the number 1 shoulder for those who can't raid 25mans
The best Pre-hyjal/BT shoulders and the first "real" upgrade over frozen shadoweave shoulders for shadow priests. If youre a casual player / raider doing ssc / tk these shoulders are definitely worth crafting.
Shoulderpads of Absolution - Mother Shahraz, Black Temple
-- 46+17/5.57(3.05)+27*0.055(1.49)+24=74.54/84.89(2piece)/93.47(2+4piece) + 12 Hit(16.37)=90.91/101.26(2piece)/109.84(2+4piece)
Hatefury Mantle - Anetheron, Hyjal
Mantle of Nimble Thought - Crafted, Tailoring BoP
Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders - Crafted, Tailoring BoP
-- 50+15*0.055(0.83)+24= 74.83
Just had the pattern for these shoulders drop in Hyjal last night and crafted them right after. Very nice looking shoulders although they don't really match the Frozen Shadoweave set very well. Also, interestingly, the shoulders don't go completely translucent in shadowform. Some of the ridges on the shoulders stay a very dark and opaque purple, so these shoulders look a bit odd, but definitely stand out.
As for the stats, I prefer these shoulders to the Hatefury Mantle as a shadow priest for a few reasons. First, I didn't have to spend any of my EPGP on them, so they were a free upgrade. Second, the stats are better oriented to a shadow priest. That is, now that I can get well over 1400 spelldamage buffed during a raid it is probably better to stack haste as much as possible over crit since haste benefits every spell and crit only affects 2 spells. Finally, Hatefury is definitely better for warlocks and mages since they benefit from crit more than us, so its nice to be able to take this, which they don't want, and let them fight over the Hatefury.
With these shoulders and the dagger from Heroic MGT Mindblast is down to a 1.45 second cast.
These fit in nicely with the
for a alt character. Combined with the Spellstrike head and legs and the crafted BoE haste bracers
Bracers of Nimble Thought
, you just have to find boots to complete your armor set.
Roll on it? You do realize that its crafted right? As well as BoP? I don't see too many moonkin tailors either.
can some1 please explain what spell haste rating means.
its pretty obvious what i think it means, but would appreciate some educated information.
apprently about ~22 haste rating = 1% at 70
does this mean its 1% less cast time on all spells?
if so, then i query the usefulness of this stat atm, because you would proly need at least 5-10% haste to really notice a difference, and even then, 10% of 3secs, is .3secs (shadow bolt), not enuf of an increase to be useful.
now a 50% reduction would be awesome, that needs 1100 haste rating for that lol.
: now that i think about it, i suppose small haste improvements will become apparent in drawn out boss fights, where at the end of the 10-15minute fight you will have cast a few more spells then the other guy. sorry i was wearing my pvp hat when i posted above, i'm now wearing my pve hat
For u Novice players doubting the Power of Spell Haste, It is Definitely the most Important stat there is. There are currently only a few items, all of which are from Black Temple that have this stat on them. Why? Because it is so powerful, this is why this stat was only introduced in end-game content gear. If you can stack about 5% of spell Haste on your gear, Not only is this good for PVE, but think about casting these faster-paced spells in a Battleground. 5% haste rating along with a spell haste trinket popped is VITAL! For anyone who doubts it, play on a private server and test out the gear for urself. it's nuts.
10 casters with 2% more dps each adds...OMG 2% more dps, dunno how the hell you got 20. its not like each mage with 2% adds 2% total raid dps. haha, if only. if one mage out of 10 has this, then it adds 0.2% dps. L2math
2% of everyone's dps is 2% of the total dps.
Think about it. If the raid doubles their DPS, every DPS has to double their individual DPS.
Your way: 200% * 10 = 2000% ? Riiight.....
All this is beside the fact that you probably only have 5-6 DPS classes is Kara at all.
A great piece no doubt, but don't be idiots about math, and respect the differences in priorities that different classes put on.
Spell haste is amazing for a mage, but as an Affl lock? It's not nearly so valuable. Great, admittedly, but 30-40% of my times is spent waiting for the global cooldown.
UA, Corruption, CoA Siphon Life Immolate, couple of shadowbolts/drain life...
Rinse repeat. See how that wasted time I've marked might affect my valuation of +Spell haste?
tbh, even one piece of haste gear is good, think if u get every one in the raid 1% more speed, u do 1% more damage, i know we've had 1% wipes on vashj, and also other guilds too, sure u dont "notice" 1% haste, but it is there, and with the coming release of 2.3, ZA, will see loads more easily accessible haste gear, so casting 10% quicker for the person who brought shadow bolts into it, every 9 u cast, u get another one in more than u normally would do, sounds pretty good to me!
Actually guys spell haste would not affect GCD, so it it only efficient on classes which use long casts in their rotations and absolutely useless when casting instants.
So I would stack up spell haste being an arcane mage (due to 2xAB, AM, Scorch cycle) while being a fire scorch mage (Scorches + Fire blasts cycle) i would stack up crit chance
just to say something that it seems people have over looked about spell haste regarding locks/arcane mages/shadow priests is that spell haste also affects channeled spells. take , for example, drain life;
Drain life = drain 108 life every second for 5 seconds.
But, with say, 10% speed ( which would be alot, about 220, spell haste, i beleive) you would lower the spells time:
5 second channel time X .90 (90% casting time) = 4.5 seconds.
4.5 seconds / 5 = .9 seconds.
meaning that every .9 seconds you will drain 108 life, instead of every 1 second; also increasing your base dps for that spell from 108 (108 X 1.10) to 118.8.
Haste does indeed benefit channeled spells i,e. Arcane missles. These are great shoulders. I was on a waiting list on my last server for the pattern for 6 mo. Then I transfered to a friends realm and found someone selling it. The hearts are the expensive part. The Hearts go for 500g ea on my server.
