With the new 2.3 patch increasing regen from 15% to 30% inside the five seond rule for Druids and Priests, this'll be a highly viable offhand over the Tears of Heaven.
Currently, I use Aran's Soothing Sapphire, but with this one coming out, I'd lose a little healing, but I'd gain a nice amount of Spirit, Stamina, and keep a lot of the Int. I personally think this'd be a great asset to anyone that has the ability to bounce the five second rule. It may not be as much as Aran's up front, but (As a Druid) factor in Kings, talents, and the like, and you could have a highly viable offhand here!
For Tree of Life druids, this is arguably better than
Talisman of the Sun King
, as far as pure healing stats are concerned.
Assuming you can stay out of the five second rule 10% of the duration of the fight, the voodoo shaker will already regenerate more mana ( (0.90 * 0.30 + 0.10) * 25 * 1.15 * 1.10 * 5/9 = 6.5 mp5 for the shaker, vs 6mp5 for the talisman ), and if you can use innervate, the difference will be even bigger, because it immediately offsets the -4 intellect. ( 4 int = 4 * 1.10 * 15 = 66 mana, innervate adds 25 * 1.15 * 1.10 / 9 * 5 * 20 = 351 for the voodoo shaker, vs 6 * 5 * 4 = 120 for the talisman, so innervate negates the -4 int difference and adds another 165 on top of that. )
The -4 healing is compensated by the +3 healing you get from improved priest spirit buff ( 25 * 1.15 * 1.10 * 0.10 = +3.1625 heal), and the +8 increase to tree aura ( 25 * 1.15 * 1.10 * 0.25 = +7.90625 tree aura).
You do lose 99 hp ( 9 stamina * 1.10 * 10) or 104 hp if you're Tauren (1.05 modifier), so whether or not it's worth it depends on how squishy you are, and how many badges you have lying around.
You'd gain/lose -1 Stamina, -1 Intellect, +3 Spirit,
That´s "very similar" as you say, true.
and +18 Healing and +6 Damage.
Now how is that "very similar"? That´s like an extra socket slotted with a Teardrop Living Ruby. Or like going from T4 to T5 gloves.
Definitly worth the upgrade imho (also from
Aran´s Soothing Sapphire
, for that matter) and it costs less badges than two Karazhan clears will net you.
Pardon the noob question but what is the '5 second rule'?
Well worth the 35 badges, you'll not be replacing it for a very long time. As a holy priest, the stam increase is nice, the int is all good, the spirit is awesome and to top it off, 55+heal isn't something to scoff at! You're looking at BT before a better offhand is found.
For priests who are wondering about when they may upgrade this item:
is currently the next upgrade, and is currently the best off-hand for a priest at this moment. Worth the badges.
What can i say ? :) As a restoration druid im glad theyv put that for badges cuz i find it exelent and fitting my gear very well. Thanks blizz for putting Spirit in it :D <3
Great stats, tho. Def. a must-have for a resto Shaman for the high "cool" factor.
I tested an item that was a +53 spirit item and it gave me as a holy spec'd priest 15 combat mana per five. With voodoo shaker having 25 spirit, besides the intellect and stamina on it, it would work out to about 7 or 8 combat MP5, which is what Aran's Sapphire has on it. Someone who has this item should take it off and compare the stats, because with int it might even be higher. Giving this stamina as well, I'd go with this over Aran's Sapphire unless your badges could be spent better elsewhere. (I now have purchased this item. I have the primal mooncloth set which gives an extra 5% mana regeneration during combat, so my numbers might be different than some, but it gave me 11 more combat mana per 5.)
voodoo shaker is much better then the ones that u guys posted. 25 spirit and 20 int. int gives some mana regen aswell. as for druids this is a very good off hand. i got it myself offc :)
