New in patch 2.3, purchasable for 60
Badge of Justice
This is one of the "PvP" cloaks added in patch 2.3. When these cloaks were heralded as a "PvP cloaks" players naturally assumed they would be obtained though PvP (honor + tokens). This one is obtained though Badges of Justice as noted above. Kalgan has this to say when they released the new cloak info:
"Early on we had a philosophy that we wouldn't put tanking gear or full sets of healing gear on the pvp vendors since at the time there were concerns that players would feel like it was advantageous to pvp in order to get gear to beat raid content.
Turns out that philosophy mostly sucked (although we're holding onto the no-tanking gear part of it), so we fully itemize for healing in PvP gear now and rely on resilience to make it pvp-specific enough that it won't be considered ultimate raid gear."
Interesting that after that realization the new PvP cloaks would only be available though PvE. Perhaps there will be cloaks with the same stats added to honor vendors with the start of Season 3? (Somewhat unlikely, but one can hope.)
Dont count this out as a PvE DPS cloak armor penitration is a viable stat for improved melee dps the more armor penitration you have the better it scales this is even more usefull on low armor mobs sutch as aran as his armor is lower to start with i can see with several of the new armor penitration items full sunders and other armor buffs debuffs bosses getting close to 0 armor ( and there are a few theory crafters that say you can in fact go into negitive armor getting extra dammage after 0% reduction) however there is no hard stats to prove this.
Better version of Sergeant's Heavy Cloak
+10 armor, 7 stamina, 1 crit strike rating, 1 resilience, 8 attack power, and the ignore 112 armor effect.
Compared to the "old" PvP Cloak --
Sergeant's Heavy Cloak
-- Dory's Embrace gives the following relative increases in stats:
+1 Crit Rating
+1 Resilience Rating
+8 Attack Power
+112 Armour Penetration
The key difference here of course being the +112 Armour Penetration, which along with the Season 3 Warrior Set (and probably Rogue sets too), will grant substantial increases in DPS. It would seem that since resilience counters crits, pure AP and armour penetration is the way to go.
A great cloak, sure. But 60 badges is a bit extreme, sure they want to motivate PVPers to do some PvE content, but 60 badges is overkilll.
How well does this cloak serve the DPS of a raiding rogue? Does the armor ignoring stat help much against raid bosses, or is it fairly negligible?
Currently, the only blue gear (excluding trinkets) that I have on my character is
Cloak of the Inciter
, and I'm desperately trying to replace it with something epic. (Curse you, Aran, for not dropping
Drape of the Dark Reavers
!) But, 60 badges is pretty steep... is it worth it for raiding in addition to being great for PvP?
I love how Blizz references items, but i can't figure this one out? Could anyone tell me what this is a reference too?
So since PVE-ers can do Instances to get PVP Gear ...
How come I can't buy super tanking items for Honor/Arena points?
Can somone campare this Cloak to for PVE. I want to know ignore 112 armor does in PVE.
This cloak is named for Kalgan's RL GF, hence the flavor text:
As in, her embrace is priceless to him.
2nd Best cloak for Fury Warrior, first one still from BT.
Using the "Enhancement Points" stat-weight system derived from here:
For Enhancement Shamans, this is a slight upgrade in pre-25man over
Drape of the Dark Reavers
This is an extremely awesome Cloak.
I noticed that in 2.4, there's a Haste version of the Caster Badge reward PvP Cloak, and a Spell Haste Battlemaster's trinket. Are there similar physical Haste items to be released in 2.4 as well? I feel like I read a post on World Of Raids confirming this, but I can't remember what the items were called and I cannot seem to find them on WoWHead or WoWDB.
If someone can help me out, that'd be awesome.
It seems like Blizzard wants to #$%^ the PvP'ers badly in the ass.
"ok. PvP players do PvP. Lets give them some Pvp gear for sure".
"BUt PvE'ers do high raid instance and does alot of PvE. Lets get them even better PvP equipment!"
Blizzard you suck.
Why dont we pvpers get pve gear then also?
is there going to be a possible upgrade when S4 comes out?
1-2 hours a day is enough to do the sunwell dailies that have a chance to net you badges, along with some decent cash. If you didn't have to work for the epics, everyone would have 'em, be imba as hell, and class nerfs would happen 2-3 times a month to try to keep everyone on the same level.
Does anyone know of a cape with the same model that is more suited for casters? (warlocks or mages)
Looks-wise its the best looking cape to go with my gear.
I use this for my retribution paladin, i think that is the best DPS cloak, easy to get too.
where this from?
This is truly a great cloak because it's excellent for both PvE and PvP, with the resilience.
As for the class debate / flame stuff, yes it's tired and old. This is obviously a great cloak for any melee or ranged physical DPS class:
Anything but a clothie (Mage/Priest/Warlock) basically.
This is better, all around, than the Sergeant's Heavy Cloak:
*** Armor Reduction: -112
After my Nyn'jah's Tabi Boots, Dory's is next!
you buy it from G'eras for 60 badges, just like it says at the top of the page.
In my opinion, it is completely ^&*!@#ed to be required to PVE to get a PVP item.
It's nothing short of stupid game design.
how about you stop arguing and tell me what is the easiest way way to obtain the Badges :)
Four Words(as much as there is ever going to be) "This Cloak Is Awesome!"( basicly for all melee classes they can use it for PVP aswell as PVE)
I'm amazed that this has got resiliance on it. The ignores armour stat is useful in both pvp and pve, so it's amazing that they bothered to make it look pvp.
Whilst as a survival hunter I obviously favour something with more agility on it, this cloak would be completely mega if I was BM or MM.
As a raider I could buy this easily. Kara + 2 weeks of raiding will give me 60 badges. But I can see thaT PvP-ers are being asked to do some instances to get this - I don't think thats the way it should be, that said, I would also like to see some PvP gear drop in raids so that we have different pvp gear to hardcore pvpers, I've already seen a few items which are like this....e.g. the ring from lurker
