This is the new Engineer-only 60%/Blue Flying mount in 2.3.
The Epic/280% speed one is
here
.
The
Star Wood
used to make this is sold by Grand Master Enchanters and Enchanting Supplies vendors.

Save yourself a lot of money.
You can buy the Adamantite Frames and the Fel Iron Bolts from the engineering vendors / spare part vendors in Area 52 and The Stormspire.
For the next part you can buy the Felsteel Stabilizers from the Area 52 vendor as well.

Don't worry about losing this when you upgrade it, there are no visual differences other than the addition of a Hula Girl Doll on the dash to the epic version.
Mats are:
2x Adamantite Frame
8x Handful of Fel Iron Bolts
1x Fel Iron Toolbox
4x Elemental Seaforium Charge
8x Star Wood
30x Fel Iron Bar
This comes out to be:
8x Star Wood
8x Adamantite Bar OR 16x Adamantite Ore
56x Fel Iron Bar OR 112x Fel Iron Ore
2x Primal Earth
2x Motes of Earth
1x Motes of Fire
Edit: Corrected for 2x Elemental Seaforium Charges per craft

for the elemental seaforium charges you must be at least revered with The Consortium faction to buy the schematic to make them or buy the charges from other engineers who are revered

Are these the right mats? Cause I started farming them from now, I want to craft it as soon as the patch comes! :P

This item also binds on use, not pickup, so it can be sold in auction house or made for a friend or whatever
I wonder if it'll be like that in the live patch,

I was wondering if anyone could confirm the required engineering to craft this? I'm aware that it says 350 to use, but I've seen people say it requires 360 and 350.

Note, the mount with the flames on it is actually the epic version. The rare version listed here does not have any frills like paint or the hula girl on the dash. I can't confirm that it takes 350 to make, but it only seems logical that it becomes available at 350 to make and fly as the epic version does at 375.
FUN FACTS!!!
It does have a chance to fail. When sitting idle the engine will stall. If you are hovering on the ground the vertical prop is retracted and it will not touch down in hover mode unless it stalls out, when it does it slams down and you try to crank the engine twice and you're hovering again. As far as I can tell this animation only occurs when idle not during ground or flight movement. When hovering in flight mode vertical prop extended, the engine stalls and the props bend slightly as it drops probabaly 5 to 10 yards give or take, the engine will kick in again and pulls you back up. I've had a blast with mine so far, can't wait till it hits live!
EDIT:
It looks like the no flames was a recent change to differentiate the rare flyer from the epic one.

I think it is a bit of a letdown that the Flying Machine is made only 6 (six!) parts. It would be much more "realistic", and also more constistent with Blizzard views regarding to Engineering if the Airplane would need at least three full bags of parts. And then not having to buy 225 Riding skill. But hey, let us not despair -- 2.3 is not here yet...

The vertical prop (propeller) retracts when running along the ground. As mentioned, when sitting still, it'll occasionally turn off for a few seconds. By far the best mount ever (except maybe the epic flyer version)

Also, these aces were known for one of the most brilliant death quotes in the game...

This does not turn yellow at level 370, so if you are short on cash(ie<100g) it might be more interesting to make 5 flying machines at that point with a guarantee to get to 375 instead of Khorium Scope. Flying machine will not probably not sell, while Khorium Scope does, but the mats are easy to farm yourself than Khorium Scope mats, which needs 10 dawnstone/ 20 khorium you'd probably will need to buy.
So to get from 370-375 you'll have to gather:
230 Fel Iron Bars
65 Adamantite Bars
And while you are mining the required fel iron and adamantite, you should have enough motes of earth and fire.

The smoke trails don't actually come out of the exhausts, they're about 3 feet below coming from thin air.

The Horde trainer is called Jonathan Garrett and his coords are 29,28 in Shadowmoon Village.

Trainer (alliance) for the flying machine requires minimum 350 engineering skill, and is trained in wildhammer stronghold in shadowmoon valley.
The trainer is a lime green haired gnome who is standing quite near an outdoor stove or oven, with a smoke stack and is postitioned between a wooden looking 1/2 circle bench style spectators stand with a gnome doing a pee-pee dance on the very top tier, and several riflemen doing firearms practice against targets propped up near the inside of the outside walls of the stronghold.
The non epic version requires 350 engineering and level 70 skill, the epic version (280 percent speed) requires 375 engineering and level 70 skill. Building the epic version doesn't trump the 5k gold you STILL have to spend to get the riding skill in order to use it.
Trainer's name is niobe whizzlespark.
sorry I wasn't able to provide trainer's co-ordinates; maybe someone would be willing to kindly provide them.

I was rather upset to find out that I *MUST* be lvl 70 to learn this pattern. The skill is no problem but the lvl 61 proses an issue to my building one for fun and profit. I'm actually suprised the this is not a BoP item. Cheap to make and the only reason I have for lvl'ing my Eng at this point.

This is an absolutely fabulous mount! The attention to detail far succeeds any other mount (flying or otherwise) in the game.
From the subtle transmission noises, to the light shower of sparks coming from the flywheel, you really get the impression that this thing has been bolted together from random parts and pieces and forced to fly. Even the toolbox's lid (mounted on the side) flaps up and down ever so slightly.

I just managed to buy one of these for my (currently) level 67 Hunter on the AH for...75g. Seems a bit cheap, doesn't it? I was looking at at least a rough rep grind and a bunch of farming, but now all I need to worry about is getting to 375 skill and getting the materials for the epic flyer.
I'm still sort of in shock I saw one for so cheap. 75g!

Agree with OP, the flying machine should be dependant on Engineering skill, not level. If Druids can get their flight form at 68, we should at least be able to obtain the schematic and start building, even if we can't use it until level 70

The skill comes from an undead named Jonathan Garret in Shadowmoon Valley and Niobe Whizzlespark in Wildhammer Stronghold near the Flying trainers and wyvern/gryphon vendors. It requires 350 engineering and lvl 70 to learn. In my honest opinion, the materials for this are nothing compaired to the 350 goggles. The upgrade to Turbo-Charged isn't all that bad, but the Hula Girl Doll is around 100g. Now if only we engineers can learn something to pursuade riding instuctors to lower their prices with some sort of gadget...

Has any other Engineers had problems with their Gyrocopter?
I love zooming around, swooping and soaring around using my mouse. I even get to do a Barrel Roll. The only problem is that sometimes my 'Copter gets "stuck". I can't fly down, only up. When stuck I can try as much as I like to move forward, but it only results in my copter staying abolutely still, nose of the copter pointed straight up.
Arrow keys on the keyboard don't move it forward. The "Run" key doesn't make it move forward. The mouse doesn't make it move forward. I only am allowed to fly straight up.
I always make sure to pack my Parachute cloak for these occassions. I point my camera straight down, release my mount and go skydiving, with a 75% success rate timing the triggering of the cloak. Sometimes, with hills beside the landing zone, it gets difficult to judge how far from the ground you really are, and the cloak's powers wear off way too soon.
Anybody else have any problems?

Alliance: This is not learned from a schematic, it's trainable from Niobe Whizzlespark in Wildhammer Stronghold, at about 36.7, 54.8. She's a green-haired gnome near the center. At 70 you can learn both this and the Turbo version, and get the training just north of her (800g for "regular" flying training, 5000 for epic).

You guys seem to be missing the point of Eng. It's about making things that are fun. Also for you guys who complain about gold. I make about 150G a day collecting motes and selling the primals while completing quests. This is by far the best skill!
Though don't let it get around, I don't want my profits going to everyone else! LOL.
