Solid Star of Elune
, this can become better than the Bulwark of Azzinoth, minus the proc and some defense.
To bad it looks horrible. I just got my bulwark... I guess this is an upgrade having 530 defense already myself. I think I'll try this out with the meta mentioned above. It does seem like a very very interesting upgrade.
the shield is so large that when you have it sheathed on your back, it shows up in your "headshot" when you are in a group.
The loss in defense going from Bulwark of Azzinoth to this item is balanced out by the increase in Shield Block rating - you're actually adding to your overall avoidance, making a passive crushing immune setup even easier to accomplish than in currently available gear.
Assuming a 15stam gem, you're looking at gaining 4stam and a considerable amount of Block Value, too, putting this shield ahead of Bulwark of Azzinoth without any doubt, save possibly for resist fights in which the added defense on BoA will allow you to hit crit immunity more easily; alternatively, you can use an arena shield for those encounters as they supply you with more crit chance reduction from resilience than any other shield.
The Bulwark of Azzinoth is a side-grade from kazrogals hardened heart, as in one is better for mitagation, the other I would say is tps, what with the hit rating.
This beauty (i wish it was in black ;)) gives both avoidence and mitagaion, and I would say more avoidence as I'd put in a 10 parry rating gem, I r no druid
by far, the best shield in the game
but comparable to bulwark of azzinoth
the ugliest item ingame, and the competition is really extreme
Biggest and best shield in the whole game.
I'm glad that blizzard is leaning towards a massive shield trend with these high end content shields... makes you feel like a REAL tank >:D
the frustrating thing about this shield is that it has less stam then the bulwark 49<60
with the gem bonus its 52 but u still need 2 stick a +stam gem in 2 beat bulwark
and as with the crystal spire of karaboor, the upgrade from sunwell gets rid of the fancy special effect thats always so nice
Anyone else noticed how it resembles a door?
Just got this...sweet shield..
Time to surf..
Sucks that you have to go from a badass graphic like the Bulwark of Azzinoth to this fruity piece of crap.
wher do u get this shield from ?
sunwell plateau, the new 25man raid instance
Very very good shield for any tank. Looks amazing as well!
As mentioned above, this baby drops from "Felmyst" in the new 25-man raid instance "Sunwell Plateau".
a little ugly xD
It Being better than illidans shield is situational...I have the Bulwark of Azzinoth, Veylon US Lightninghoof, And I'd take it over this simply because the proc will help you more than the block rating you could obtain via other pieces of gear...
The Stats are slightly better would be a side grade if anything simply because of the 2k armor proc, BUT, For paladins, the choice is unmistakably this shield.
On Brutallus and other heavy hitting fights, this doesnt have the 2k armor proc that might evry well save your ass as opposed to a little block value that a ring, or a Tier piece could easily substantiate.
lol if i was a gnome id hide in it :P ITS HUGE!
This shield probably looks th most decent on tauren coz its massive and it goes with their butts
looks most decent on turens? hell no this is a pure gnome shield inside and outside.....they can also use this as a house
who cares whether or not it's for pallys or warriors? ya it would suck if a pally got this from a drop and you didn't, and vice versa, but no one cares it's a game. it's a sick ass shield that's better than the bulwark of azzinoth. that's all this should be about, not pointless debates on who it "belongs" to.
haha i can picture a gnome using this...be like a kite with a gnome on it.thatd be whicked
OMG's pallies are like "We can use it too!" cuase we don't want to get gimped of armor.
It's just like if paladins were supposabley better and went around saying "Pally stuff!" but the warriors were like "But we can use it too..."
And since being good is 50% reliant on gear, it would suck to not get something like this becuase someone said that is was pure warrior gear, and vice versa...
its better than bulwark of azzinoth but not as cool
All the new sunwell patch gear looks very colourful :D
I agree .. Is awesome, But it looks very , very ugly . The Illidan Shield looks more pImped :D
The reason paladins have to prove that some loot is also usable by them is the fact that most warrior stats are useful for a paladin, but not vice versa.
Consider spell damage and strength. What use is spell damage to a warrior? Answer is obvious, its a wasted stat in terms of stat allocation budget. What use is strength to a paladin? Next to none, but its there.
I would say, items with either +hit or +str are by default warrior loot, items without those are subject to be contested by paladins.
item's with +hit and +str are usable by retpallys, but retpallys won't be using shields as in this case now will they.
this shield is so ugly, its the best shield shield and it looks like some little kite, oh wow they gave it a sparkly sprite at the top. it is big, bigger then bulwark, but it looks terrible
this ^&*! looks like they gave a blank pic of a shield and some crayons to a 3yo.
worst colors ever
Read some of the comments, and all i get is mental !@#$%^ation, for the most part. Any time a bad ass shield comes up, everyone always assumes that its for "a warrior", when in fact, warriors aint the only shield wielding tank class in the game. Nor are they secondary to any shield wielding tank class in the game(obviously im talking about tank warriors). This shield is for both warrior and/or pally, with prot spec. tankadins need stam, def, and block same as a warrior tank, so to be truthful, this is for a tankadin, or tank warrior class in equal measure. tankadins dont need intel on everything, including a shield. also, tankadins also have very useful aggro spells, which only a tankadin would understand. ive personally played a tank warrior spec, and also a tankadin spec, and both have little or no problem holding aggro, both have block spells, as well as aggro spells, so only peeps who havnt played both of them would continue to argue. both warriors and paladins have the "tank with shield" spec, and both have dps specs(warriors can either dual-wield spec, or 2h spec, while pallies can only 2h dps spec), so to make a long story short, in truth, like the first guy said, "warriors are pallies that cant heal". pallies have the advantage in that they can also heal spec, though not as efficiently as other healer specs, but still, even in healer specs, pallies are considered as "healers in tin cans" so to speak. and i wouldnt mind, any day as having a non-squishy healing me, so long as he knows what he is doing, and has a half way decent healing bonus, which healing pally specs should have anyways.
why is a tauren druid wearing that shield? lolz!
checked that new 3d System, this shield is bigger than most races but somehow they're not bigger than a NE and a draenei
Warrior's with strength on their tanking items would be laughed out of any decent guild - its talents/defstance/TPS abilities that generate the vast majority of threat, not strength.
Now pallies are the same but to a lesser extent. T6 isnt particularly heavy on the int. for prot pallies, so a few MAY need some int gems for a larger mana pool. Then again,
damage taken = healing = mana regen for tank pallies, so int. is a moot point.
In summary, they're going to be needing on the same items 90% of the time. If you have a problem with that, well who cares - you're likely not seeing T6 content anyway.
lol it seems to me that these shields keep on getting bigger and bigger.
smack this and thunderfury on a gnome and you got a ridiculous looking char
