This will make for a very nice tanking pendant. Especially for druids. Gotta love the expertise. And the extra threat through the arcane/holy damage.
Who says that the "call of the power of the Arcane/Light" will deal damage? Maybe it gives you a buff to absorbing damage or increasing the change to avoid attacks, like the trinket that drops from Kael'thas (Magisters Terrace).
The proc gives +100 expertise rating for 10 secs if you're Scryer exalted or +100 dodge rating for 10 secs if you're Aldor exalted.
Any info on PPM ??
This is comparable to
, thought this one is having lower amount of hit rating (9) and expertise (3). Amount of stamina is same on both necklacess and proc on this neck is nice, 100 dodge for aldor and 100 expertise for scyers. Ofcourse it requires exalted status with either one but I would take this one over Brooch of Deftness since I'm sure you have some other things to buy with badges also (If not then get badge version)
+100 expertise means yet another pvp item since PvE boss parry dodge is 5.6% which is about 90 expertise rating/23 expertise to reach a cap
100 dodge rating adds 5.28% to chance to dodge. All we need to know is PPM now to calculate average...
100 expertise rating = 25 expertise, which adds 6.25% to expertise.
Kind of on the fence, but I'm glad I'm scryer. I don't always want more dodge, I'll never not want my attacks to hit...yeah.
Expertise seems to be so much better than dodge. Whats disappointing is that one is more of a defensive stat and the other offensive.
The deal with expertise rather then dodge is the high level of Parry on new bosses. When a tank's attack is parried the Boss, on many boss fights, has a very quick attack. If you have just been crushed or cleaved and then your attack is parried u get hit 2 times in the span of 1 attack rather then once. Preventing this double attack is just as important now, especially for tanks who have high dodge and stam, as maintaining good mitigation. personally I'll be sitting on 54% dodge raid buffed, 58 with idol procs and looks like 63-4 ish with this aldor neck proc. at some point enough is enough and I would have gladly taken the expertise for threat and double attack prevention instead. Compaied to the badge neck, Broach of Deftness, I hope the proc makes it worthwhile.
Hit exalted today (prot warrior, Scryer) so took this thing for a whirl.
It's a 45 second internal cooldown, 10 second buff and a high enough proc chance that it will proc fairly soon into the start of any fight. I saw it up a -lot-. Whilst various tests have stated it's a 45 second internal cooldown I wouldnt be surprised if it was actually 30. It seems up a -lot-.
Comparing this to the Brooch of Deftness you lose 9 hit rating and 3 Expertise, but gain 100 expertise roughly 1/5 of the time. Also, this expertise tends to come very early at the start of a fight, as the proc will go off within the first few swings of a pull, which means the expertise is there when you want it - getting that initial threat, rather than succumbing to the hell of a string of parries within the first vital few seconds.
As a result, although it likely averages out as being 20 passive expertise, I think it's more useful than that, because you get a huge whack of expertise more often when you really need it. Provided you have enough hit on other gear to not worry about losing a bit from the Brooch, I'd say this is -definitely- worth using if you're a Scryer over the Brooch. I destroyed my beloved Brooch of Deftness today after some good testing of this thing. It's awesome.
For Scryers complaining about the expertise instead of dodge, if your a raid tank like myself you'd be happy to realize everytime a mob parry's your attack his next attack comes 35% faster. Expertise helps with tanking as well as building threat. As for Warrior and Feral Tanks this item is nice for both if you're scryer. Dodge is always nice but the more you dodge as a warrior or a feral tank the less rage you will build as well.
i would suggest the procs would be something in between the two,
Aldor: +60 dodge rating, +40 expertise rating for 10 sec.
Scryers: +60 expertise rating, +40 dodge rating for 10 sec.
instead of all goes to one side.
I play as a feral druid tank and i personally do not see why druids would think this is a good item....... depending on a proc that can only occur like once every 45 seconds seems kind of .. well... bad.
Personally I will be sticking to other items that may not give me as much dodge as that burst proc, but will give me CONSISTENT dodge.
I am a scryer and i love the expertise proc when tanking trash. I see this necklace as more of a TPS neck than a damage mitigation necklace anyways, so personally i'm glad i'm a scryer for this. When you don't have a ton of shield block for big shield slam crits sometimes TPS is very hard to keep at the 9-1200 range , this necklace definitely helps that.
How would you compare the scyer version of this trinket to the scyer version of
for melee DPS (as a combat specced rogue in my case)
I calculated the dps assuming 40 sec out of every 180 seconds and assuming a 35% crit rate and a Relentless Earthstorm diamond, the Shattered Sun Pendant of Might (Scryer) is worth ~44 dps, and the Resolve one is only 37. Keep in mind that the more expertise you already have, the less the proc is worth. Even by itself, u only get the benefit of 104 minus the 18 it comes with, so only 86 expertise actually applies (assuming attacking from behind).
TLDR version, Might is better than Resolve for rogues.
Being a scryer druid, I gotta say I'm not thrilled.
First off, 100 expertise seems vastly inferior to 100 dodge to me. Being 4/5 Hyjal (and legitimately making it there >.>), my TPS is highest of our tanks (as it should be) and I certainly don't feel rage starved. Even with 33k armor (Anetheron does not want to drop my pillar of lol) I find myself taking some nasty spike damage at times. Thankfully my healers are spot on, but all our blood pressure would be greatly improved if I had 100 dodge every minute.
Next up, the neck comes with a standard 18 expertise. Which is to say, it really comes with 15. If you have no other gear with expertise (and we ferals often don't), this is a loss of FIVE expertise to the oft-mentioned Brooch of Deftness. Not 3.
Lastly, hit rating is more important to me than expertise. You see, while many bosses are of course immune to taunts, many also require you to taunt. Hit rating becomes important for those situations, and a missed taunt is the suck. Inferior yet again.
-dodge >>>> hit > expertise
-expertise calculation methods make this worth less than first appears
-I am sticking with
-Maybe I'll vendor it or maybe I'll keep it for heroics
For a tank, it can proc off you shooting a gun as well.
have any hunters considered using this for pvp? the stam bonus is nice, but the proc itself is seemingly useless to someone using a gun. is it really as it appears?
Is this proc hidden or bugged as of now? Im not seeing it happen at all.
The question you MUST ask yourself:
Should tanks be depending on random procs of Expertise? Of course the answer is no, you should have a set amount of Expertise to remove the chance of parry, procs of Expertise bonus are completely useless for that reason.
However random procs of dodge are almost always useful, adding more to your avoidence in general.
Whats better compared to the neck that drops from maiden?
My Prot Paladin wears this. Proc's are high and will proc off of avenger's shield. The stam is outstanding along with hit rating and expertise which is very hard to balance in for a Prot Paladin's gear.
Does it proc from Thunderclap?
though thunderclap is a spell it's very non-spell-ish in it's mechanics.
Does it proc from Whirlwind?
dual wielding, sweeping strikes?
Does it proc from cleave?
Does it proc from sweeping strikes white hits?
And finally the proc on Holy Light says that it's a 10 second duration with no cooldown.
Is there a hidden CD?
Or can it reproc on itself like mongoose?
how long does this last?
For Aldor this increases your dodge rating by 100.
