7.1.5 Holiday Updates: Micro-Holidays and World Events
Between the 7.1.5 PTR introducing new micro-holidays and
, we thought it was a good time to summarize what we know about all the upcoming holiday changes coming in 2017 to WoW.
Micro-holidays are small holidays, not tied to any meta-achievement, that celebrate different parts of Azeroth's culture and history such as
The traditional two-week holidays have also received a steady stream of new toys for the upcoming year.
Items from the Love is in the Air and Midsummer bosses now show as "scaling with level"--looks like Blizzard is making good on the promise to open up the fights to lower-level players.
(December 16 - January 2)
is a new toy which sets out a festive clothes chest for your friends. There are Red and Green holiday outfits, in both pants and shorts versions.

The 2016 Winter Veil Gift is
and awards the achievement
. This is a reference to the character Mei from Overwatch.

(January 21 - 23)
: "On this date, the Scarab Gong was rung, opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Represent your faction by gathering supplies or by slaying Twilight and Qiraji forces. The winning faction gets to fly their banner next to the Scarab Gong for the rest of the year!"
This event commemorates one of the most memorable times in WoW: the server-wide effort to unlock the gates of Ahn'Qiraj.
One person on each server completed an elaborate questline to bang the gong and open the gates: you can read about all the requirements on the

The first person on the server, as well as anyone who rang the gong 10 hours afterwards, was awarded the
mount and title for completing
As part of grinding out reputation in Silithus, players completed an elaborate series of summoning rituals among the Twilight Cultist Camps. Killing Twilight Cultists was needed for
, which awarded reputation with Cenarion Circle when turned in. The summoning rituals were needed to summon progressively-harder Abyssals, culminating in World Bosses. During the Cataclysm revamp, these questlines were broken.

Defeating the Crowne Company is no longer for just max level players! Items like

Hippogryphs are one of the most beloved species in WoW: they're found all over Elven areas and serve as flightpath mounts around Kalimdor.

Murlocs are the unofficial mascot of WoW: they're everywhere you look from costumes (

When April 5th comes around, you can complete the quest
and help your band of murloc tadpole friends from

This quest will take you back to the Winterfin area in northwestern Borean Tundra. If you've skipped the quests in the area like
