Stygia Crafting, Tower Shadehound Mount in 9.0.5? The New Hidden Soul Forge in Domination Keep

The first PTR build of Shadowlands Patch 9.0.5 is finally upon us, and some interesting details have been discovered! One of the discoveries that have been made on the first PTR build is the
冥殇占卜器
, a new item sold by Ve'nari that allows you to track new Stygia deposits in The Maw. However, there is more to those Stygia deposits and the materials it awards you. In this post, we go through our current discoveries regarding the Stygia Dowser, and what it is used for.

On the Shadowlands 9.0.5 PTR, Ve'nari sells two new items, one of them being the
冥殇占卜器
for 1500
冥殇
. The Stygia Dowser is an item that stays in your bags and allows you to search for Stygia Nexuses. Stygia Nexus are small balls of green energy, reminiscent of engineering motes from past expansions. Stygia Nexuses are usually in areas that are hard to reach, such as behind hordes of mobs, deep inside caves, or in areas only reached via grappling with the

The Stygia Dowser allows you to track Stygia Nexus on the minimap, and when used nearby a Nexus, it will drain it, granting you a small amount of Stygia, as well as some

The Hidden Forge in Domination Keep
Also on the Shadowlands 9.0.5 PTR, some observant players have noticed there are more grapple points added on the 9.0.5 PTR. Most of these grapple points lead to areas where Stygia Nexus can be found, but one specific grapple point leads to a very interesting area.
The Maw rare

is hidden in the upper portion of Perdition Hold, in an area only accessible to players that have killed the other 3 Herald rares in The Maw and created a

(or players accompanied by someone who did create a Domination's Calling). On the 9.0.5, a new grapple point was added to Exos's room, allowing you to go a floor higher in the area. This grapple point leads to an area containing a Soul Forge and a Soulsteel Anvil. In the area there is also a portal, which is a one-way return portal to the riftstone in Zovaal's Cauldron.
On live servers, this area does not have a grapple point, making it impossible to reach by normal means (
although you can reach the area with some creative toy and glider usage
).
The Soulsteel Anvil in the area is interactable, and when opened, allows access to a special crafting menu, called Stygia Crafting. Within this Anvil, you can currently craft two items:

冥殇粉末
and 10
冥殇裂片

重装躯壳
- Requires 1

Currently, we have not discovered how to obtain the
铸魂者的工具
, but we have crafted a Stygia Bar, and the animation when crafting one is... Interesting, to say the least.
Stygia Crafting - Tower Shadehound Mount?
It is currently unknown what Stygia Crafting will be used for. Our guess for right now is for a new Maw mount, the

. Currently, the Tower Shadehound is not in the in-game journal, and does not even have an in-game model, but its name and icon suggests that this will be a Shadehound mount, maybe one that works in The Maw, similar to the

or
渊誓猎魂犬
.
The Tower Shadehound mount is supposedly rewarded from the quest
狂野的影犬
, which mentions a "runed armor husk", which seems quite similar to the
重装躯壳
we are able to craft with Stygia Crafting. There are some items that are currently undiscovered, as well as another crafting spell involving the
重装躯壳
(
符文联结
), but currently, this entire system seems to lead to a mount that is usable in The Maw and accessible to those that have not fully cleared the Twisting Corridors, or people not lucky enough with the Shadehound Hunt.
